Forgive me if this is somewhere else, if so please just point me in the right direction, I have been looking and have not found it.
Ok I read this last night and now I am confused.
So a player character only has as many hit dice as equal to his BAB? Correct?
Fighter 10 = 10 HD
Wizard 10 = 5 HD
Cleric 10 = 7 HD
What about Wizard 1? Starting HP? But at level 1 his BAB = 0. Does he just gain a HD at level two when it goes to 1?
If so what about the Fighter? Starting HP but then his BAB = 1. So does he get another HD at 1st level?
Sorry about this, I am just really confused.

When gaining a level, your type of HD used is not associated with your BAB specifically, but your BAB progression.
If your BAB goes up +1 every level, your HD is a d10
If your BAB goes up +1 only on even levels, your HD is a d6
If your BAB goes up +1 every level, except for every 3rd level, your HD is a d8
The one exception is the Barbarian, who gets a d12. But I'm busy advocating replacing this exception with granting them the Toughness feat at first level as an extra ability.

Ok, now I get it. Thank you.

I like that.
A fighter can have as many hit points as a barbarian, but he has to spend a feat on toughness whereas the barbarian gets it for free.
Lets leave the d12s at home from now on.

On that note, this t-shirt is far too perfect
Your d12 cries itself to sleep.

I have just now finished buying it. Shame on you for showing me what I've been missing in cloth armor all these years...
