Draconic Sorc and quicken spell??

Races & Classes

?

Ok what gives?

I saw this and then quickly paged thru the feats to see if perhaps we have a new definition for quicken, but alas nothing.

What am I missing here...or is this just here incase the sorc goes multiclass?

Just speculating here, but maybe this will be addressed in Part 3? We may be seeing a new way Metamagic feats are applied.

Just a thought.

I cannot wait that long.

I require instant gratification at all times.

I will wait another 10 minutes for an answer, and if not had I'm driving to Paizo headquarters with a tent and camping out until I get answers.

....and trust me the neighbors will complain!

O,o?

Oh my... You're one of those who couldn't wait to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop, weren't you? ;oP

I was lucky if I got the wrapper off....

Come on...this is driving me mad.

Maybe Quicken Spell was updated, but was overlooked when compiling PF Alpha 2.

Perhaps now it allows Sorcerers to use their other metamagiced spells as standard actions, instead of full-round.

(heheh.. kind of fun watching somebody squirm.) :oP

I was actually thinking perhaps Sorcerers now have the ability to use it as a wizard does, which would be cool.

I find no reason to arbitrarily take quicken away from the sorc and never did.

...anybody?

It would be relevant to playtesting would it not?

Well....

....

...nope, I've got nothing. ;p

Since Quicken Spell feat is a core feat the PF Sorcerer can probably use the feat despite the special saying it isn't usable by a spontaneous caster like the sorcerer class. This would be similar to the Rapid Metamagic feat in Complete Mage. From the SRD:

Quicken Spell [Metamagic]
Benefit
Casting a quickened spell is an swift action. You can perform another action, even casting another spell, in the same round as you cast a quickened spell. You may cast only one quickened spell per round. A spell whose casting time is more than 1 full round action cannot be quickened. A quickened spell uses up a spell slot four levels higher than the spell’s actual level. Casting a quickened spell doesn’t provoke an attack of opportunity.

Special
This feat can’t be applied to any spell cast spontaneously (including sorcerer spells, bard spells, and cleric or druid spells cast spontaneously), since applying a metamagic feat to a spontaneously cast spell automatically increases the casting time to a full-round action.

If so, impressive for the sorcerer.

That's one of the most powerful feats in the game at higher level, and the sorc has slots to burn.

I don't think I'm gonna get an answer on this one...so if I playtest, I will assume that sorcerers can now use it and it wasn't a typo.
