With all the recent changes due to the release of 4e, the GSL and the OGL, we here at Louis Porter Jr. Design have decided to create an all new OGL 3.5 logo which can be used by any and all 3rd party publisher, completely and absolutely free of charge, with any of their products that initial had the d20 logo or was OGL created material.

The reason for this new OGL 3.5 logo; beyond the obvious loss of the use of the d20 logo; is to unify those companies who still wish to support the 3.5 OGL rule set. This logo easily brands and makes d20 and OGL material easy to identify with this logo so people can tell on sight what gaming system they are supporting. The initial concept of the OGL was to make the gaming industry stronger by making it possible for more people to create and make products to support the concepts of the OGL. With the changes in 4e and the GSL, and the recent comments by Linae Foster and Scott Rouse of that you can only make products for either the OGL or the new GSL, this is no longer the case. And with those actions have caused the creation of this new OGL 3.5 logo.

This logo has bee created in several graphic formats including Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Illustrator EPS, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop JPEG and TIFF. Each of these formats comes with three different versions: color, Grayscale and Black and White. A complete zip file containing all these logos can be downloaded directly from this link. We hope that any and all 3rd party publishers who stick with OGL 3.5 will use and support this initiative. A lot of customers gave us their hard earned money and supported us; I think it is only fair that we return the favor to them. This isn't the first time David has gone after Goliath and attempted something amazing. Thank you for this support!

Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this. If it is, please feel free to move it to the appropriate forum

I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Liberty's Edge

That works for me. I hope either it or the orange one on the back of Pathfinder catches on.

LPJ?

Who.. what? Nevermind, don't care.

In any case, they can create all the logos they like, it doesn't matter to me.

They're one of the higher-production-value PDF-only publishers out there, and they tend to be the "rockstar games" of onebookshelf.com at times; lots of ultra-gim 'n' gritty modern stuff, fantsy prestige classed based off of iconic superhero concepts (which works better than you might think) and so on. They sell stuff in Paizo's online store, too. Some of their stuff is neat, some of it is kinda "eh". Which falls in each category is pretty much up to the individual to determine...

Yeah thir power corrupted stuff is great

PDF only stuff. Yuck.

If I can't find a free full copy of something to see if it's worth my money then I avoid it like the plague.

All the crap D20 stuff that came out after 3.0 taught me to spend my dollars carefully.

Besides which, modern and superheros don't interest me. Yes I play D20 modern, but if it's not in the core book, we make it up... we know d20 well enough. :)

That of course begs me to ask where do you get your free Paizo stuff then?

lol

Not meaning to be snarkish but did you ever consider that some publishers simply don't have the finances for hardcopy publishing and as such, PDF publishing is the only feasible route available to them?

Personally, I think we should support these "little guys" as they are the ones getting stepped on the most. Due to the "exclusivity restrictions" being imposed by WotC (OGL or GSL, but not both), these small press PDF publishers will have to cease selling their 3.x products completely if they want to go 4E.

Many of LPJ's products are system neutral. Their Image Portfolio series isn't affected by the restrictions... and is some damn fine artwork to boot. However, their M&M Superlink products and Side Adventure Weekly series are OGL. If they wanted to switch to 4E, they're going to have to ditch these products completely, especially the Superlink stuff.

While a new OGL logo may seem like a futile and irrelevant gesture, I think that is pretty much the whole idea. Its a gesture... namely a one-fingered gesture.

Then why did you care enough to post to this thread?

An interesting phenomena.

Dark Archive

I buy stuff from LPJ.

I've got a few LPJDs, too.

See there's the trick, I carried over my magazine subscription and that sold me on Pathfinder's hotness... and Seoni helped alittle bit. ;)

Plus, there's a printed product, so PDFs aside, I could still look at it in the store.

Because it's in the Pathfinder General forum and not in the 3.5 or other forum. :P

Fair enough I suppose.

I bought a bunch of stuff from LPJ from RPGnow! and DriveThru, and I'm quite happy to hear of this.
Can't wait to see more from them, as I remeber that they're working with the Werecabbages.

Interesting, and definitely worth watching.

The cabbages wrote LPJ's SAW or Sidetrek Adventure Weekly.

I was too busy with other projects to be able to write one, but looking back on the series' finished product, I certainly regret the bad timing.

Same here, from their NeoExodus line.

Me too.

Yeah, those Imperial Janissaries remind me of Jedi Knights.

By the way, LPJ Side Trek Adventures are rather nice as well.

Don't be so fast to write off PDF-only publishers. I have some excellent stuff from Dreamscarred press, for instance, and as far as I can tell they're a PDF-only publisher. Green Ronin's Advanced Race Codex was released one race at a time in PDF only. That was really good. Sword's Edge makes some good modern stuff. PDF-Only. The Book of Experimental Might by Malhavoc? PDF only. Sometimes you can get a sense of the quality level of a product simply by who's involved in making it. Given the choice, I usually like to browse stuff on the shelf first, too, but there are a number of publishers I trust enough to buy product from Sight Unseen if it sounds like something I'd use. Paizo, Malhavoc, Necromancer, Green Ronin, and Dreamscarred are currently on that list. WotC was while they were still making 3.5 material (though I was admittedly somewhat choosy about which product lines I followed, and setting books needed a quick skim since all I did with them was strip the crunch for my homebrew game) . LPJ is quite there, but it's close. I just have to be sure I know what I'm getting. I never really had problems with the quality of their products, but there were a few times where I expected one thing and wound up with another.

Sorry about that. I wanted to put it in a "high traffic" forum so more people would see it. My bad.

I like the 3.5/OGL logo on the back of Pathfinder better. Not a fan of big red type. More clearly visible "3.5" connection in Paizo's. Plus I'm Paizo's b!tch.

That said, a standard logo is a good idea. Maybe Paizo could open their version of the logo. If not, then at least downsize the LPG one a bit.

It is worth noting that with ever increasing paper and transport costs, some *will* eventually become many.
