Still buried, I am hoping for some daylight by Friday.

Lil "Wizard 101" reference for you REAL nerds :)

(Yes, I still occasionally play Wiz101. And Pirate101. They are fun.)

By the way,...

My daughters birthday is this Sat. (She is aging out , she will no longer be covered by my insurance) :(

WHat started out as a joke "Hey, you have a long weekend, and an annual pass to Universal, you could go to FLA for your bday"

"Yeah, but none of my girlfriends can come with me."

Turned into "Can YOU take me?!?" :)

So,... we are taking a run to Fla /Universal for her bday. So she can spend her Bday drinking Butterbeer in Harry Potter world, And eating dinner at Chocolate Emporium. ;P

The things I do for my kids!

(SHORT version, I wont be posting after noon Friday! I'll be back Mon night and pick back up Tue)

LOL<
I did come up with a (typically grandiose) speech-scheme from Justin to start rambling off.
But THEN I remembered, he has NO skill with Bluff, or intimidation, or persuasion.

The ONLY time one of his grand bluffs worked was when he got that Nat 20 in the Morgue.

(If he ever does die, I'm reincarnating him as a Bard!) ;P

So, someone else can step in. ANYTIME now! :)
(Otherwise, you're leaving it up to the overly-chatty wizzie and the Leering Mimir! And you KNOW where THAT leads. Every time.) :D

I mean, immediate options for conversation I can come up with include everything from:

'were here to test the security of the demiplane, can you show us around the tower while we wait for the boss?'
all the way to:
'Do you REALLY like your boss? Cuz if not we can get rid of him for you' ;P

"So," Karrin says, "There was talk of refreshments? But that was a lie? Just to get our hope up? Oh . . . IT IS SO ON!!"

And THAT is SO Karrin! :D

I'll be honest, NOT the reveal I was expecting!

I was expecting a lil more 'jump-scary' type of reveal? Less 'animated Dancing Doll of Death'. ;P

Way to keep the surprises coming Pat!

Let’s assume that Mel would have healed you on the two hour walk to the village. I don’t think there’s any way he would’ve let you sit there dripping blood. You should’ve spoken up you’ve got a healer bought with tons of healing.

I hate to say it, but this will be the 'bolt hole' should anything go belly up here.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Fun fact: Force, as a raw energy source, not as a spell, is one of the hardest things to resist.

Should be around to post at least once per day for the next week or so

Honestly, Trying to decide between full defense next spell (putting myself in a force bubble) or trying to Create Pit under the gold leader-dancer.

Complications, goldie is next to Mel! who may fall into said pit, and I'm afraid that dancer-o-doom may be nimble enough not to fall into it. :)

Other choices include Black Tentacles, which have multiple chances of grabbing all within range, but would also put friends in dangers' reach.

(Those two spells have NO SR at least!) :P

Decisions, decisions,
>_<

Just biding my time, waiting for the inevitable sarcastic &/or snarky comment from Merle.
You know, since Justin included her in his force-bubble.

SO many potential snarky comments possible.
;P

Heck, Justin may make a punny comment, just to get it started! :D

(you know, once we survive, I mean WIN this thing!) :P

I JUST recently finished binging the "I Parry Everything" Anime. Where the MC gets blasted forward by his companions spell to cover the distance to the fight faster.
I am looking for a clip to share but having no luck.

I will keep looking. The visual and similarities to what is about to happen is just to entertaining. (To me at least.) :D

OK, SO I THOUGHT i had a question about a feat I took.
But re-reading it closer, maybe not?
(Or I know the answer, I just dont like it?) :P

SO I took Spell specialization. (Pre-Req for others coming soon)
The Feat is basically "+2 levels to the variable effects of a chosen spell."

SO, if you're a 5th level caster, casting a 5th level Lightning bolt, that's a 5d6 Lighting bolt.
With Spell Specialization, that's a 7d6 lighting bolt, at 5th level. Cool.

My question is, does this feat allow you to exceed a spells normal level limits?
Example: Standard Fireball maxes out at 10d6. Justin has Two memorized with 'Intensified' Feat, which adds +5 levels to the spells max. 15d6.

Question is: Does Spell Specialization also allow you to exceed a spells level limits, (like Intensified) or does it just help you reach those limits faster?
(IF he didnt have ALL of his other fire pluses, and was only casting , say, 13d6 fireballs, it would let him reach 15d6. But since he is already casting 15d6, will it let him reach 17d6?) O-o

I am perfectly OK with either direction that judgement can fall.
Just getting your interpretation of the rules for clarity.
It will help me decide what to do when he next levels up. :)
(I mean, near-nuclear-fission levels of fireball is awesome. But limits are OK. And there are other tricks I can do too,... soon. ) :D

Thank you!

Puts on rules lawyer cap

relevant rules citation

So, reading the text of the feat, it seems that this spell increases your effective caster level for purposes of a variable spells damage. However, much as if you gained those levels in a normal fashion, they do not give you extra damage. You are just casting your damage-capped fireball at a higher level, just as you would if you gained those levels organically.

So the answer is it makes you reach the levels faster, not intensify the spell. You won’t be able to push past the 15d6 limit with this.

Thenk Yew rules-lawyery-monkey.

Sheesh! I just realized, IRL, there are few things scarier than a large monkey or Ape/Gorilla. Until NOW! Now we have a monkey with a lawyer cap on!
RUNAWAY! :P

I kind of figured that as well, since the other feats that allow you to bypass or expand the level limits of a spell usually say that specifically in their description.

Thenk yew, NOW I can finalize Justin's evolution when he next levels up!
(if he makes it that far!) :P

WHOOPEE!!!

(Begins fervent arcane planning,...) ;P

Hello all,
Just FYI, I will be out of town, out of the state, and likely out of my mind for the next week at least. Possibly 2.
;P

Timing stinks for the games in the middle of combat, and I apologize.

BUT, with all going on lately,...
(I will bore you with ALL the details later. Maybe. You KNOW I like to over-share)
:)
,.. suffice to say, between my father-in-law's failing health, my sister-in-law being a royal jerk to her sister (my wife), my mother having onset of sudden health issues, etc etc etc,

I scheduled a week for myself, my wife, and even my hermit-hide-in-his-room son at Universal in Orlando. Because to me, THAT is a vacation.
(My daughter will also be in Orlando, at Disney with her boyfriend's family.) :D

And of course AFTER I booked it, my mother fell again, and ended up in the hospital, and now a therapeutic rehabilitation center so she can get her strength back and walk again.
>_<

SO I will probably be running up to see her before the new year as well.
THAT will end up taking the rest of my 2 week break.

And of course I have to be back to work early, on Jan 2, to load in a rental, because of course I do.

So I do NOT plan on having any time, to access the interwebs for almost 2 weeks straight, I will try to check in one more time on Sat before I leave Sunday, but I still have to visit father in law, (2 hours away, so a 4-hour trip just for that) pack, etc.

IF I miss you, MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! :D

Bribes always welcome

Merry Christmas Rags. As I said on Discord, best wishes to your mom for her recovery and enjoy your time off with the fam. You deserve it

We shall all be here , giant spaghetti monster willing.

Thx much, I do appreciate it.

It will ALL be fine, eventually. :P

I am going to have a great vacation with my wife.
If my son would like to re-join the general population and go on some roller coasters with me, Bonus! :P

Unless I get VERY bored in a LONG ride line (Unlikely, I dont do long lines anymore) and check the PbP's on my phone, I will probably miss everyone th erest of the week.

SO, to make sure I say it in time,

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

First full day there, I'M going to have a Margarita and Cheeseburger in Paradise in Margaritaville!
:D

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! AND TO ALL A GET SLOSHED! ;D

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Hey all. I’m going to try and get a last wrap up before I leave tomorrow on my trip. The weekend was busy with work, so no real time to get things moving along. I’m pretty sure I’ll have some down time while up at Cape Cod to post as well. The family will be doing the nose in phone thing

Be advised, he is to be considered tired and cranky. :P

Tough choice but I'm going Dervish 6 -

HP = 1d10 ⇒ 8

Skill Points - 4+4+1 I'll distribute when I have a moment

+1 BAB - Open 3rd Attack per round.

+1 to All Saves.

Improved reaction - When she attains 6th level, a dervish gains a +2 bonus on initiative rolls.

13th Level Feat - Greater Two Weapon Fighting - Benefit: You get a third attack with your off-hand weapon, albeit at a –10 penalty.

Coolio!

To re-post my IG comment,
"Holy Smokes Batman! Lucky level 13?!?!?" ;P

I may wait on the wizzie, most of his level-up bonuses (more spells!) can't be done without a 'long rest' anyway. And I've been mulling over an idea. :) (Don't worry. It's a calm posty-thought idea. Calm for me anyway.) :P

Alessia gets 2 more rounds of rage per day, and a +1 to Base Attack and all saves. Taking another level of furious guardian grants another guard dedication, which I spent on another fighter bonus feat. New feats this level: Combat Reflexes, Bodyguard.

Merle updated took maximise spell, combat casting for feats, Chain lightning, cone of cold, Tongues communal and stone to flrsh for spells (Last one may prove to be interesting here.)

Indeed! nice selection.

IIRC, in the old 1e & 2e days (And maybe early 3.0?) the flesh to stone (and stone to flesh) was the same spell, just reversable/castable either direction. Meaning you could make like a medusa during battle, and then reverse it later. If you wanted to. :D

Never gotten high enough level to think about taking it in a 3.5/PF1 game before. Not sure what it is now?

From what I can tell, in PF1e flesh to stone and stone to flesh are two separate spells.

I think part of the change involves the fact that the spells now have different targeting criteria: flesh to stone has a target of "one petrified creature," whereas stone to flesh has a target of "one creature or a cylinder of stone from 1 ft. to 3 ft. in diameter and up to 10 ft. long."

Might be a balance issue, too.

Now I'm wondering why the developers would include the bit about creating a meat-cylinder of a very specific size...

"Well, I'm not sure if it's gonna break the siege, but I did turn part of the castle wall into a giant hot dog, so there's that."

I think I understand what you're saying David, BUT I have to agree with the Dungeon Monkey on this one.

The more I use and explore the digital world of communication, the more I'm convinced we NEED emojis to communicate via text , chat & emails.
And the more I find myself using them.

(Although, honestly, back when I first got a cell phone, I was 100% with you!) :)

Nowadays, I'm agreeing with my mother,
1 text is fun.
2 texts is fine,
If you text me a 3rd time? You're getting a phone call. Because obviously this is NOT a discussion that can be easily held over texting! :P

Karrin's got a new language, a whole new level of spells to cast, and she's finally got spring attack, which she's been building up for almost since day one. mind you that was before we had a dervish in the party so it's pretty pointless ATM, especially since I got channel spell (full attack) now. Karrin can cast shocking grasp, apply it to her weapons, and do a full round of attacks applying that damage.
