Blackjack!

Curse of the Crimson Throne

No fair! When I saw that CotCT was going to be city-based, I figured I'd go with a Batman-style masked crusader character, maybe using the vigilante p-class from COmplete Adventurer. Then it turns out there already is one! (Blackjack, p.7 in the player's guide). KHAN!!!

I've done far worse than kill you Ernest...I've hurt you...and I wish to go on hurting you...

Of course... we wouldn't introduce as cool a character as Blackjack if we didn't give the PCs a chance at one point to step into those shoes, eh?

One of the best villain speeches ever. (Along with Pacino's from "Devil's Advocate.")

So true! And it will be so much more fun if you EARN it Ernest! James knows what I mean! ;-)

Will Blackjack be making an appearance in the CotCT AP? And will a PC get a chance to don the mask of Blackjack?

Oh ho! Questions Questions! I'm not saying a word. But you might want to re-read James' post above.

Lol! That's what prompted the questions. Wow. Wow. I can't wait!

Hmmm, Blackjack, that name rings a bell...

That'd be cool, wouldn't it? ;-)

So let's see, what kind of a character would be a good choice for a PC wanting to "go all Blackjack"? I'm thinking maybe Avenging Executioner, or Vigilante... Thoughts from the populace?

Dark Archive

Urban Ranger is pretty effective. Animal Sidekick, m4d sk1llz, and a flashy combat style

I don't know about your bells, but It rings several with me:

The game.
The weapon.
The gum.

Which of these is that vigilante based off?

I guess somewhere in Korvosa there's a guy in black clothes with a mask, a sap, a pack of cards, smelling of liquorice. :D

And that is the most sinister part.

I think that if/when my PCs meet him I'm going to do a Ricardo Montalban voice.

Spoiler:
I'm not sure it's the best choice given how much it might give away, but it's how I hear all his dialogue so I think I'm stuck with it.

Myself, I picture Blackjack as Anthony Hopkins. The whole Zorro feel, I guess. And Thousand Bones is totally James Earl Jones.

Well he does live on an island, IIRC. ;)

Really? And here I am picturing myself telling a PC he'd make an excellent Dread Pirate Roberts.

I'd agree, if he were

Spoiler:
younger. But he's a bit too old to be Cary Elwes. Old vigilante training a successor is basically Hopkins in The Mask of Zorro, though.

I've been thinking V for Vendetta, especially with all the talks of martial law and stuff like that.
