I am curious if anyone else is noticing that some of the artwork lately has been so dark that you are not able to make out much of the detail. The Sable one today and the Terrible Trio both are falling into this category for me... anyone else?

I havn't had any trouble, but I keep the brightness all of the way up on my monitor - I did notice similar things when I had a CRT monitor, but once I changed to LCD it cleared up

Sable is definitely a pretty dark piece, but, on a properly calibrated montor, there's plenty of detail to be seen in the darkness for all three pieces in the trio.
I highly recommend Mac OS X users run through monitor calibration—open System Preferences > Displays, go to the "Color" tab and click the "Calibrate..." button. (Unless you have special needs—or a weird monitor—I'd choose a gamma of 1.8 and a native white point.)
In the Windows world, you may already have similar controls, depending on your video card, but I'm sure there's a freeware calibration tool out there somewhere...
If you have a CRT (tube) monitor, think about recalibrating every six months or so, because CRT phosphors lose brightness over time.

Unfortunately I calibrate to my print path as opposed to just what is going to look best on screen (to insure that the monitor displays as closely to how colors will be presented to my printer). This means that I can't really recalibrate just for onscreen pics.
It will be interesting to see how these pics come across once printed in your products though (could be just fine and just wouldn't print nicely on my printer).

Do you have a four color photo quality printer?
While I don't have an awesome printer, everything I've printed turned out really good. You might want to check your printer settings and check what "quality" its setup as default.Trent

I print to a DesignJet (60" wide color ink), and the stuff I design turns out just like I see it on screen, so I am not really interested in messing with my setting (besides, it cost me a pretty penny to have it professionally calibrated).
Anyway, I will just wait for the Paizo printed copies.

I know this may be going a bit far, but most monitor calibration software allows for multiple calibrations, so you can swap between "preview my printer output" and "make web browsing look good" as needed.
Out of curiosity, if you compare images from older blogs to their appearance in recent printed Pathfinders, do you find that the printed copies aren't as dark?

Wow I can see why... I wouldn't mess with the calibration and settings either.. If it comes out darker than what the printed AP shows I'd be concerned.
Course it could be the pieces are just really dark. ;)

I haven't noticed any differences really until some of the recent dark clothed pics. I did see the sable folks on a friends computer this weekend and it looks great.
It's all good though, not that big a deal as long as it isn't something that most people are experiencing. As long as I am fairly sure that the issues are my settings I can decide if it is worth 'fixing' or not... and at this time no.
I would say from what I have read, the issue is with me, not the website. Which is a good thing for you guys.

I gotta admit when I look at the recent shots on the blog they stand out from everything else on the page exactly BECAUSE of their darkness, but I am looking at them on a brand new Samsung Synchmaster 2253 with the color adjusted so I still get a lot of shades of dark color.
On my old monitor in the other room, it doesn't look so good.
