Somethings like this I simply could not wrap or stretch my imagination to those boundries to allow said creatures to invade my games, cut and use what you like. I had a player in my FR campaign who wanted to play a Loxo. I was like I'm sorry Babar elephant men are not allowed nor have they ever lived in my realms. At some point you just gotta say hey this is impossible or it makes no sense whatsoever.:)

Again, don't blame 4e.

Check the 3.5e DMG, page 41.

** spoiler omitted **

I forgot all about that rule. I use a much less structured plan for encounters per level.

Eggs

They were discussing dragonborn on another thread I posted on. They were having a hard time with the creatures laying eggs and still having mammory glands as depicted in Races and Classes. Here is the answer...

Maybe somebody at WOTC likes the platypus. The following information came from Wikipedia:

When the Platypus was first discovered scientists were divided over whether the female laid eggs. This was not confirmed until 1884 when W.H. Caldwell was sent to Australia where, after extensive searching assisted by a team of 150 aborigines, he managed to discover a few eggs.

The newly hatched young are vulnerable, blind, and hairless, and are fed by the mother's milk.

To which I replied, Dragons don't have mammaries. But I guess it's a better distinguisher for female dragonborn than giving them long hair and lipstick.

And then I wrote:

So you've seen the pictures WOTC drew of the female dragonborn right?

And then he wrote.....?

Duncan Clyborne wrote:
Are not the Dragonborn the new 'strong' and therefore better at fighting race? If so, I suspect alot of the fighters role will be Dragonborn. Not necessarily out of desire, just out of practicality. But I also don't understand the advantages to being a Dwarf, so maybe Dwarves will fill the fighter role.

Ahh, but you see, that's because the Dragonborn are the ultimate Fury spec with their strength bonus, while Dwarves are best with the Protection spec because of their Stami... erm, Constitution bonus. *insert roll-eyes smiley*

Twice.

Definitely twice.

DangerDwarf wrote:

Now I know I don't know what your talking about. There are three people (including me) on right now, and one of them is talking dwarvish. I only speak Common, Ancient Baklunish, and Celestial.

Dark Archive

No, I wasn't aware that the ancient Bakluni had three things in common with the Dwarven Order of Celestial Hammers.

Fascinating, but what does this half to do with Dragonborn?

Spoiler:
My Common sucks;P

I haven't read much on the Dragonborn myself. Can someone tell me how they're different from, say, Lizardfolk?

Jon Brazer Enterprises

For the next hour, I speak only "tired morning mumbles" *mumble, mumble, mumble*

But yea, back to dragons.... what were we talking about .... Where's my tea.

Infamous Jum wrote:

They spell their names differently.

Dragonborn sound more fierce.

Lizardfolk were around first in D&D.

Dragonborn made the 4th edition PH, lizard folk didn't.

Lizardfolk use to be called lizardmen. But I think in 5th edition Dragonborn are called Dragon people.

How's that for getting back on topic.

Danger Dwarf...I have translated what you said a few posts back "Dragonborn r teh r0xx0rz?"....and I am higly insulted that you implied....what did you imply again?

I thought everybody was sick of the dragon stuff.

Dragonborn? I've never heard of them. They don't exist. I hear the 4e phb will contain some blank pages which were supposed to contain a cool new race, but I'm unclear why that race was cut out and the pages left blank.

Gods I hate the dragonborn. They're worse than most of the Eberron shapeshifting psionically possessed non-warforge races. They're like a double shot of generic "dragons are kewl!" combined with a rebel drow ranger and poured over the grave of original thinking.

Fizzban wrote:

Could we not just call them Draconians?

Looks like a Draconian...Smells like a Draconian...Sounds like a Draconian...But It's a Dragonborn...

Fizz

Simple - those are:

1) Tied to the Dragonlance License
2) Usually "bad guys"

Calling them "Dragonborn" removes both "stigma."

I like reptilian characters; if I ever create my own character for 4E, I'll probably go with a Dragonborn, most likely a "spell caster" (Cleric or Wizard) class (use "" marks because it seems EVERYONE now casts "spells" of some sort)...

The Dragonborn were around in 3.5. I had a player use one once. They seemed to enjoy it, and it wasn't unbalancing or anything. I don't know how they're going to change them for 4th, but in third, they were pretty cool. Compared to the Spellscale (the other new race in the book, kobalds don't count as new) they are awesome. Of course the spellscale were about the dumbest race ever printed..check that - the Booumanns - however that's spelled - are the worst.

It wasn't so much an implication as it was a statement of fact. In the common tongue it would translate as:

Dragonborn are heathen that do not give worship to Istus.

As always, I come late to this and all other threads... I have never comprehended the Fixation of Dragons that some people obviously. I had hoped that in 4th edition, Sanity would prevail, and Anything other than standard dragons (that eat maidens and hoard gold) would be a thing of the past. Sadly, yet more half-dragon nonsense creatures are now a main race in the game. Dragons are apparently Humping everything in sight in the d&d world and dragon-whatevers' abound. I'll tell you what, my first PC for 4th edition is going to have a Flaw of: Psychotic Aversion to Dragon-anythings, and I'll slaughter any on sight:)

Bree yark=some humanoid battle cry or whatever.

Ah...so is your battle cry better than Xenia's? Does it give you and your merry mutts a bonus of some kind? I think it should.....The dragonborns of today are the gnomes and half-orcs of tomorrow.

I want to go on record as saying I got no beef with Xena. I wouldn't dream of talking no smack about Xena. Her yodelling ululations portend a wicked scything doom.

Dark Archive

It sucks that you have to be subscribed to the DDI to get Xena's stats.

It is indeed a nice outfit. Not so sure about the horse ... (I was going to say something about "like to be her horse", but I'll refrain).

Dark Archive

Yeah, and to really suck you in they are breaking the stat block into 34 installments so I have to subscribe for almost three year to get one single NPC.

I like the color! It also comes back when it suppose to. I didn't like it though when Calisto injured the poor thing though.

Calisto isn't so bad. She's misunderstood.

Calisto rocked.

I agree! After all, she thought Xena let her parents die as I recall and the trauma got to her....basic story of good girl went bad!

Ok.....apparently I'm scary then, more than you know, I have 6 Xena CD's.

Are you still going to talk to me or have I made the "Your to wierd to associate with category?
