"They might tell you you're on a "non-stop flight." Well, I don't think I care for that. No, I insist that my flights stop. Preferably at an airport."
I somehow knew what this was going to be before I clicked on it, and even after having seen it many, many times, I still watched the whole thing and loved every second of it. That was the era of peak Carlin, well after the "Hippy Dippy Weatherman" days, but a good decade before he turned into the living embodiment of "Old Man Yells At Cloud."

"Well, to me, coleslaw is a symbol for the universe. We all start as a single cabbage, a unified spirit, and then we get chopped up through life and separated. But love is the mayonnaise that holds us together. And you, I think, are the severed mouse head in the middle of the bowl. I don't mean that in an offensive way, but in the best of all possible ways. Because you're the protein!" - Emo Philips

"As a little girl, I would always ask my grandma what it would take to be successful in life.
She told me that all you need are the three bones: the wishbone, the jawbone and the backbone. The wishbone to keep you hoping, the jawbone to give you courage to speak truth to power, and the backbone to keep you standing through all your trials and tribulations."
― Nina Turner

"As I spent more time playing the role I had less time to remember its rational origins and purpose. I found myself sliding into the role even when it wasn’t necessary. I wondered if this doesn’t happen to lots of people. We get or take an ascribed role and then bend our life to fit the image. Soon the image is the only identity people will accept. So we become the image."

"Get on the plane? No. Evel Knievel can get on the plane. I am getting in the plane."
I'm not sure, but I think Yakov Smirnoff said this, or something similar.

"We have arranged a global civilization in which most crucial elements profoundly depend on science and technology. We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces."
- Dr. Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark (1995)

“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”
― Booker T. Washington
Bear in mind this is a man who lived and died before many, possibly most, of my own ancestors ever even set foot in the Western Hemisphere; nothing quite like feeling ensnared in somebody else's soap opera.

"There is more to living than merely staying alive. We are here to live life, not just survive life. That would be obvious if the certainty of death were integrated into our psychology, but in modern society, sadly, it is not. We hide death away. We live in a pretense of permanence. Seeking the impossible – the infinite postponement of death – we fail to fully live life."
- Charles Eisenstein
"The dominant narrative that I'm hearing today is "We have to change or we are not going to survive. We have already overshot the ability of the Earth's ecosystems to support human civilization, and we'd better do something about that right away, or we are going to have catastrophe, massive population collapse, maybe even human extinction." I would like for the conversation to turn away from "Can we survive? How will we survive?" On a personal level, that's not the goal of life--the goal of life is not to survive it, it's not to make it to your deathbed intact. The goal of life is to create something beautiful, meaningful, to give your gifts to something much bigger than ourselves. And collectively, we are the same way. We are not here to survive this. We are here to contribute."
- Charles Eisenstein

I'm pretty sure some of these have been featured before, in some cases by myself, BUT:
“Living with integrity means: Not settling for less than what you know you deserve in your relationships. Asking for what you want and need from others. Speaking your truth, even though it might create conflict or tension. Behaving in ways that are in harmony with your personal values. Making choices based on what you believe, and not what others believe.”
― Barbara De Angelis
“I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence.”
― Frederick Douglass
“...[B]efore I can live with other folks I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience.”
― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
“Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters”
― Albert Einstein
“Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
“I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to
succeed, but I am bound to live up to what light I have.”
― Abraham Lincoln
“In a room where people unanimously maintain a conspiracy of silence, one word of truth sounds like a pistol shot.”
― Czesław Miłosz
“Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people.”
― Spencer Johnson
“Being different is a revolving door in your life where secure people enter and insecure exit.”
― Shannon L. Alder
“Integrity is not a conditional word. It doesn't blow in the wind or change with the weather. It is your inner image of yourself, and if you look in there and see a man who won't cheat, then you know he never will. Integrity is not a search for the rewards of integrity. Maybe all you ever get for it is the largest kick in the ass the world can provide. It is not supposed to be a productive asset.”
― John D. MacDonald
“Integrity has no need of rules.”
― Albert Camus
“My mother said I broke her heart...but it was my integrity that was important. Is that so selfish? It sells for so little, but it's all we have left in this place. It is the very last inch of us...but within that inch we are free.”
― Alan Moore, V for Vendetta
“I cannot and will not cut my conscience to fit this year's fashions.”
― Lillian Hellman

"Modern technology teaches man to take for granted the world he is looking at; he takes no time to retreat and reflect. Technology lures him on, dropping him into its wheels and movements. No rest, no meditation, no reflection, no conversation--the senses are continually overloaded with stimuli. [Man] doesn't learn to question his world anymore; the screen offers him answers--ready-made."
- Joost Meerloo

"He died valiantly facing the dragon. It's the way he would have wanted to go, I'm sure it was quick and painless. There's no sign of particular trauma on the body, apart from it's burnt to a cinder."
- Sir James of the Tower of the Gilded Bear (Jason Kingsley), Curse of Silverthorn, part 8: End of an Error

"We are just as primitive today as people were a thousand years ago, [only] with more technological methods to be primitive with."
- Tarl Warwick
“How to Overthrow the System: brew your own beer; kick in your Tee Vee; kill your own beef; build your own cabin and piss off the front porch whenever you bloody well feel like it.”
- Edward Abbey

"I've never heard a Boston accent in outer space" is what they say, and I always go, "Oh yeah, what about English?" Isn't that a little weird if you went to a galaxy far far away, and you get off, and somebody's like "Hey, how's it goin'?" and you can totally understand him? What about the fact that Han Solo's talkin' to a bigfoot, he's speakin' bigfoot, Han Solo's speakin' English, they never break character. One keeps goin' "AAUAAUAAUAAUAA," and [the other's] goin' "I said hit the button, Chewie!" And that was all fine. None of that... how about C-3PO with an English accent, that was OK? Has the guy been knighted? He was just playing the Royal Albert Hall, and now he's with... I almost said Lynyrd Skynyrd--Luke Skywalker?"
- Bill Burr

“Westerners are fond of the saying ‘Life isn’t fair.’ Then, they end in snide triumphant: ‘So get used to it!’
What a cruel, sadistic notion to revel in! What a terrible, patriarchal response to a child’s budding sense of ethics.
Announce to an Iroquois, ‘Life isn’t fair,’ and her response will be: ‘Then make it fair!”
― Barbara Alice Mann
