If I were running Durgal I'd have him place a hefty satchel of spices around their necks sometime before they self-detonated, that way the dill and tarragon could bake into every charred casualty within the blast zone. He could tell them it was "A gift of fine cooking spice for your glorious afterlife."
I know that's a bit demented, but what am I supposed to do? PG-13 an undead cannibal villain?
Congratulations, you are now officially sicker than me :)
That idea officially rocks the house! Wish I'd thought of it... muahahahaaa

Would be kind of interesting to see the vote counts.
Well, batting .500 is still pretty good :)
(a sure hall of famer unless you fail the blood test... )
Darkjoy, thanks for all you encouraging words throughout this contest. For whatever reason your screen name and icon registered with me, turning you into a surrogate for the audience as a whole. I was thinking of you (and propeliea though for somewhat different reasons) when I was working on this guy, so I'm glad you liked him.

OK, but I was just returning a favor you provided once upon a time when Dungeon was still printed and campaign workbooks were still in them. You provided some encouraring words yourself.....

Well, I'm disappointed for ya, but you sure seem to be making your way in this field. Here's to more of the same.

That rings a bell but I can't quite place the reference Could you be a bit more specific on the CW in question?
(or the manuscript?)

Not sure I mentioned this (and am too tired to read and see) but, Durgal was my favorite entry of yours, Hal. I think the choice shows an eye for what makes stories interesting. It was in my top 6 and maybe some soft touches would have changed that.
Just some solid work in this contest.
Top six is pretty good considering the quality of the other entries. I was going for memorable and I think most folks would concede I got that at least :)

Hal,
What of the RotRL 7 sins would you say Durgal qualifies under? I'm working on a side quest, and could use input on that.
Yeah, as Darkjoy says, gluttony strikes me as the most appropriate sin for him. If you've got a copy of my "Seven Sins" article (Dragon #323 IIRC) you could slip him the gluttony domain with minimal tinkering.

Ok, wasn't sure if it was Gluttony, or maybe envy (envying the gods and their followers, and their tastes) Wrath was too easy. I thought about lust, but tossed it aside.
Here's my idea:

Nice, to enhance your idea: After bringing home the girl have the sheriff escort the party back to the temple, some explanation is in order after all, while explaining everything have the pc's make some spot or wisdom checks to notice that some parts are missing.........
