For those who are interested WOTC have posted an excerpt on an alternate campaign for Kyuss from their Elder Evils source book.

They even put Kyuss on the cover of the book.
WotC had a similar apocalyptic adventure come out just before they transitioned from 2nd to 3rd edition. So you can end your campaign world with a bang and start off fresh with the new edition. This one does have a nice Lovecraftian feel to it, so I may get it because of that and the Kyuss stuff.
