DM JT, do you need anymore players?

Howdy, I'll make a Val avatar later. Any changes in character creation process, houserules, etc...

Sounds like a fun game though. I'm going to have to bow out, I just don't have the time.

I should be done tomorrow.

If B guy agrees with this, my idea is that I was found in a dark alley from his character in a very bad state... I have completely lost memory and I was all covered by deep wounds... only the cleric skills (and some days of efforts) were able to keep me away from death but everything about my past was gone and also my real name with this... Cleric starts calling me Sneaky because this was what I look like...

Sounds ok to me.

Human siblings would be fine. Do you want the older or younger?

I'll lend some arcane power with a human sorcerer.. It will be my first play by post and the second use of my shiny core book.

EDIT: Would anyone like to intertwine a bit of backstory?! Let me know

What are you thinking about? Siblngs, crewmates?

interested, how about a cleric of Gozreh?

Ok, we will post a couple of characters soon.

My motivations;
To start it is religious and revenge. Gadren needs to be stopped and Desna has told me I need to do this (the fact that he WANTS to KILL Gadren is just icing). This character starts by walking the thin line between wanting vengeance (leading to the dark side) and righteous anger (because Gadren is a truly vile man who hurts children and needs to die because the justice system is unable to provide justice for his victims). But Korvosa is the only home he ever knew and he hates to see it's people oppressed. He is a freedom loving, good cleric, so after his revenge/justice is complete, he could get caught up in helping the people and such.

How do you feel about non-PF PRC? The Prc list is fairly thin at the moment, especially for spellcasters. The Thaumaturgist and Contemplative were the 2 I was thinking about that would fit the concept the best.

Sorry for the delay, but your post made me reconsider. Anyway, I hope you are feeling better. After much consideration we would like to do gestalt, we tend to make optimized characters anyway(though not Super optimized) and use teamwork/tactics (something that isn't typical of most pbp games).

I talked with my friend;
Ranger: (Ranger(though he is looking at fighter)/rogue- 2 weapon fighting)
He was a border guard in the Mierani Forest when a Varisian family camped nearby. A girl wandered into the forest and they fell in love. There is more to the story, but I'll let my friend tell it. When her family left, he said he would follow her. He had limited experience with humans (other than killing them)and just didn't realize how quickly they aged. So to him to was just a few years. Nothing like drug use or life quest or anything.

Me
Cleric/Wiz(conjuration)
While born elsewhere, the character was raised by his mother in Korvosa as a Varisian. He remembers his mother, who died when he was young. Sold into slavery (Gadren) he eventually ran away and met a cleric/wizard/Mystic Theurge of Desna who took him on as an acolyte/apprentice. They traveled for a few years, but recently he has been having disturbing dreams and is convinced that Desna wants him to return to Korvosa (the only home he ever knew)and deal with that evil man.
I realize other churches have a bigger role in Korvosa, but none appeal to me.

We have started this before(up to the old fishery), so we are familiar with the background and have the players guide, thanks. How about a father/son team. My cleric is a halfelf who never knew his father and when his mother died he got sold to GL. Escaping, he found refuge with a cleric. Later, he goes back for vengeance. The other pc is (unknown to them both) his elven father (a ranger) who had lost track of time (a year, a decade...or 2...all the same to an elf) and is searching for his lover and their son. He has found his lover dead and tracked his son to being sold to GL and is now looking for answers. However, my character goes by a different name since he took his clerical vows.

As players we both believe in the value of guard dogs at low levels (best 25gp you can spend at 1st level). I am looking at a summoner build (starting about level 3), which would go well with a small party. I am thinking about a divine version of the "ACADAMAE GRADUATE" feat and being able to carve my own "Varisian idols", both from the CotCT players guide. As to which God and what domains, I will have to look at what they did to them. Originally he was air/animal of Gozreh, but I am not sure I like what they did with the animal domain. I think I liked the beta version better. My other favorite pair is luck/travel of Desna. Any thoughts on my ideas?

Have you ever looked at Gestalt? It's a good way to give smaller parties more versatility, without a huge increase in power. Gestalt only gets crazy when you allow multiclassing. If you keep it to 2+Prc classes, it is simple enough.

Alpha Complex Computer, I think you posted in the wrong thread, or maybe I just don't get the joke.

Tarlane, thanks for the prompt reply, CotCT would probably be preferred. I tend to like playing clerics while my friend has no strong preferences. We would be fine with running PF, unless you want to use 3.5 and it sounds like you would be going the NPC route for the reduced party size. I will post more tomorrow.

I keep having trouble with "site unavailable", will the rush end soon?

I am looking for someone who wants to DM an Adventure Path (either Curse of the Crimson Throne or Legacy Of Fire) for 2 players. I really enjoy the Pazio AP's (currently in a RotRL) and want to see how they play, but so far 3 CotCT games have gone nowhere (not getting beyond the Old Fishery, the game is CURSED...seriously) and I haven't been able to find a LoF game. I can get 1 friend to come along for the ride. I am tired of having games fail because players stop posting. We would be open to 3.5 or PF. How you want to adjust for only 2 players is also open; multiple characters, gestalt, higher level or NPC's.

Sorry, this site has been crazy hard to get on lately. I'm not going to use that character again, so I am not concerned about it. Are you going to try another event?

Serious RL issues trumps gaming every time, and health is as serious as it gets. We can wait. My best thoughts and prayers for your mother.

You thinking homebrew or Adventure Path?

Rats, I have been trying to play pbp CotCT for ages (oddly, always playing a cleric), but the game seems cursed. 3 games have never gotten past the old fishery, and I miss this one by 4 hours.

Can I play without a printed copy of my character and PFS card. I am having printer issues, but I can bring a laptop with the info and play from it. I am assuming Guardians have WiFi.

I once played 1 (only 1) session with a couple that smoked and it took more than a year to get the smell out of my books. I'll give you a call when I can.

I would be interested? Sat would fit my schedule fine.
Does anybody smoke? I don't and am very sensitive to it.

A 3rd level Bard in a 1st level group would be ok, but this combo would be an exception to the rule, as long as it isn't some super optimized bard with some weird race that synergies well. Bards are already support characters and a fairly weak caster class.

Running mixed level groups is problematic at best, particularly at low levels where even a level or 2 is BIG. I played in Portals of Midwraithe (a Seattle based "Organized Play" group) and you could easily have 4/5th level characters in an adventure with 1st levels. Either the higher levels become babysitters or the 1st levels have to just sit back and try to avoid getting killed (usually in 1 hit).

do you guys game on fri or sat?

Sorry William, I am not available on wed nights. Otherwise I would be interested.

If at all possible, I will be there.

I would suggest the following, just post a time/day here and at the store. Then just show up and see who is there. I can bring 1 other and we are both free on Saturdays. Trying to coordinate schedules, particularly in summer, is just an exercise in frustration.

No, that's sounds fun as well. Count me in, just name the time and day (fri or sat). I will assume the location is Guardian Games.

I would definitely try to make it if I could. Just name the day and time and game. I might suggest trying a Pazio adventure path to start.

Interesting store, at an interesting location. I would be interested in trying a game at the store. I'm available fri and sat.

I will work on it, thanks for the info. My preliminary idea is a wandering cleric of Desna (from Magnimar or Korvoso - half Varisian/half-orc) with the travel/luck domains. But I need to go over the LoF players guide, it may give me another idea.

Have you tried posting a note?

So that's five! I'll definitely be running the campaign then. Also, I'll be taking things out of your backstories and placing them in the campaign, so when making characters be sure to flesh out the history.

So do you want us to post our characters in this thread or is there someplace else we can go? While I am familiar with PBP, this is my first on this site.

Interested, how about a cleric.

I'm in the area, what sorts of schedule are you looking for?

My group used lassos to rope her, drag her down and grapple her. It took some time, but after dealing with the Sinspawn and Summons, she didn't do more than a few points of damage each round. I did play her as insanely overconfident, because otherwise there is very little chance of an unprepared party of that level to beat her. Flight, Fast Healing and Invisibility, wow.

All the highlights have been covered;
-multiple characters per player
-npc's
-more powerful characters

I would just like to add, you might think about being flexible about magic items. 2 characters are going to accumulate a lot of magic items they can't use. How many magic weapons does a character need? Let them trade what they have for what they need. Besides, you have several older/mid level arcane types in Sandpoint, thats a reasonable excuse for allowing this.

thanks for the responses.

Since they are magically created, would a Sin Spawn detect as magic?

I heard there is a web supplement that fixes the busted map of Magnimar that slipped out in the first printing. I've looked and can't find it. Anybody have a link? Please and thank you.

Heh, that gives me an even better idea; mass produce "genuine Varisian idols" with Forgery, sell them for a fortune, then skip town and load up on the real mccoy. Way easier than all those pesky Craft checks.

That's funny (and probably true)... I wonder how Desna would feel about a cleric doing that? Am I correct that since it says "material component" they vanish when used?

I am a player who wants to play a summoner cleric (Desna) and would like to be able to make these myself instead of buying them. What skill would you use to make these and how much should it cost?
