Wow. That was fun to type, but it took ages. Well then! why are we here?

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women.

Does it really matter? And are you really going to trust the opinion of someone you've met on a Dungeons and Dragons messageboard?

I thought it had something to do with being cool to one another, enlightenment, transcendence, or something along those lines, but I've since come to understand it's all about "To Catch a Predator" and reruns of "Cops".

Life’s not a song,

Life isn’t bliss

Life is just this,

It’s living.

You’ll get along,

The pain that you feel

Only can heal,

By living.

You have to go on living,

So one of us is living.

Oh, wait, isnt it,

'What a lot of fun...'

Why are we here?

Why not?

Where do we go from here?

In the immortal words of WSB, "We are here to go."

We devise our own reasons for our existence, else we're fed them by a communal script. My reason for being and meaning of life? I want to enjoy life and passion, plying my creativity wherever and whenever possible. I want to see the world and engage in other cultures. I want to protect that which I feel needs to be protected, and to do as little harm as possible.

Liberty's Edge

I am here to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And I'm all out of bubblegum.

YOU MUST ALL LOOK TO THE PROPHECYS OF YAHWEH FOR AWNSERS!!!!!!!!

no but seriously that bubble gum bit was freaking bad ass.

Who am I?

Why am I here?

Do I even exist as a seperate entity, or is it all an illusion?

...

...

...

*Meow!*

Why are we here?

<tweaks everyone collective noses>

::HONK::

Also, Mike, Syzygy, Crimson Jester, and Heathy all get bonus points for their answers.

Liberty's Edge

Why are we here?
What's life all about?
Is God really queer?
Or is there some doubt?
But now it's time to sort it all out...
For tonight, it's The Meaning of Life!

(sung in horrible fake French accent)

And remember, it's only a wafer-thin.

Hey, only I get to give bonus points!

Back to the original "question":

Humanity is like an overgrown cockroach, only not as hardy, but multiple-times more destructive.

Gamewise, many more humanoids likely see the intrusion of humanity a growing nuisance. Short-lived, destructive, and way too many feats and skills to begin with.

Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy spent

Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young

Cold hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colours from our sight
Red is grey and yellow, white
But we decide which is right
And which is an illusion

A POEM OF RAVENLOFT

The shade of death is mighty
The shade of decay is hard
In order to set things rightly,
The light of good must be scarred

The light of life is haphazard
The light of strength is none
This strength now fills a different scabard
For the strength is gone

The death has dominated our lives,
And now we must admit
That we can only submit
To the evil flame that's lit.

Thats a good one too. There probably isnt a true answer to your original question (at least, not one we could wholly understand). But, I do believe it lies in the 'arts' and not the 'sciences'.

Here's another deep one-

All that you touch
All that you see
All that you taste
All you feel.
All that you love
All that you hate
All you distrust
All you save.
All that you give
All that you deal
All that you buy,
Beg, borrow or steal.
All you create
All you destroy
All that you do
All that you say.
All that you eat
And everyone you meet
All that you slight
And everyone you fight.
All that is now
All that is gone
All thats to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

To live, to pay taxes and then to die.

--My grandfather, Dr. Aberman

What was the question again?

When was the War of 1812?
How many burned shoulders did Steve have?
What is the best example of a dramatic title?
Why is cleanliness next to godliness?
Where is that thing?
Who here has NOT slept with a celebrity?

No wonder Im so short, this is shortening bread!

Why do I keep looking at this thread?

You're searching for meaning in what seems like an otherwise pointless existence?

Or maybe you're like me and can't sleep.

nah, it's the afternoon over here.

To usher forth the return of the Old Ones.

To deny the existence of Star Wars Episode I (but still be enraptured by Natalie Portman).

To make gucamole.

To serve women and thier whims.

My sister-in-law makes an awesome bubbling noise when she hurls (specifically, I remember hearing it while she was ralphing (sorry, men named Ralph) blue maui into a bag of cheetos). Can you work something like that up for me? Do you take requests?

Still no answers here. Sigh.

Perhaps the answer lies in the search for the proper question.

The Sphinx. Played by Wes Studi in Mystery Men.

Seriously? I loved that movie too; I can't believe I just unconsciously quoted it, though. Well crap, now I have to go back and review everything else I've said recently. My entire life is a lie! Or at least, a quote from someone else. Poopsticks.

Liberty's Edge

A real question on a real state math exam from when I was in high school:

"Johnny has some complex numbers in his pocket..."

My teacher saw this and finished with "...Johnny had a strange childhood."
