Can anybody (especially someone official with Piazo) answer me why doesn't Piazo just create another Dragon-like Magazine. Afterall, as pointed out in other posts 3.5 is open gaming. Also, many people are not satisified with WOTC website, and if they run the digital format like the run thier website (cripes, run for the hills). Third and most important to the money grubbers, YOU KNOW THERE IS A LARGE DEMAND!!!
Afterall, for the last five years, you have been printing it and many people have been satisfied with it. If anyone knows how to make the magazine the way the customers want it it is Piazo currently. So why not? Afterall, I would be interested in something like Fantasy 3.5 magazine.
Launching a new magazine would take at least $1.5 million dollars (conservative estimate), plus massive advertising and outreach that I doubt is financially possible for Paizo - especially that any new mag would have to be a) completely new in most content, and b) completely stripped of things not in the open gaming license. There's no evidence that a fully OGL-clean new magazine would have either the same appeal or the same loyal audience for DnD (no offense, Paizonians). Given the really risky nature of new magazines, I think going to Pathfinder was a very wise move on their part.

Believe me, this idea had been considered by Paizo.
Their reasons for not doing so were incredibly valid - to summarize:
Starting a new magazine is incredibly expensive. It really is a horrible business to be in unless you have an established market for it. The cost is astronomical, the distribution is difficult, and it's incredibly risky.
So...we get Pathfinder. And - it looks like we're all going to be better off for it. I'm kind of glad that they decided to go in a new direction.

Look around in the older threads and you will find your official answer from Paizo. They have basically said all of the things the two previous posters have said, they are merely repeating it to you.
And although it's not a magazine, Pathfinder has been promised to contain plenty of the great authors, creations, and such that Dungeon and Dragon could have given us. (Of course, in an OGL format.)

Yup. I can't recommend KQ enough.
It's an awesome little mag. You should check it out.

Kobold Quarterly really reminded me of Dragon from the early 80s. The magazine was somewhat short, and the first issue had a couple of layout errors (explained as the work of the scribe of hell though, so I guess it must be overlooked). I think what it had was good, and I do highly recommend subscribing.... Hopefully though, the magazine will grow and become even better. A couple of years from now, it might be a major industry publication.... But I don't think it will forget where it began....
Yes, if you want a new dragon, you could do much worse than looking for KQ - even though there is only one issue now from which to judge, but it looks very promising.
