Can't you just superglue a lizard to a toad? ;)
I have about a million of each in my yard and flower garden, so yeah, that would work. Do you think tree frogs would work as replacements for toads? I think gluing the tiny fangs onto the anoles might freak my kids out though.
Besides, painting is fun.
EDIT: Oops! I guess it would be better if I glued the fangs on the tree frogs. Don't want to make that mistake with super glue!

Toads might work...I've heard of a guy who used live baby owls as proxy carnifex in a game of warhammer...
As much as I really like the slurks (had a pet frog as a child and ever sense have had a fondness for frogs/toads) kobolds already had a signature mount I thought. Dire weasels...
I see the slurk as more of a lizard folk/skum pet. Though slurks being subterranean and all that isn't going to work. Maybe run with the dwarven idea and put them as mounts for derro/deep dwarves.

And hey, these frog legs come with their own slimy sauce!...
Ew. I think I just grossed-out myself. :P
Well, if humans in our world eat Bird's Nest Soup then I wouldn't be surprised to find a recipe making use of Slurk slime.
The nests are composed of interwoven strands of salivary laminae cement.
In English: solidified bird spit :D It's a delicacy, apparently, and food only fit for an Emperor and his most favoured dinner guests.

I just showed my wife a picture of the Slurk and told her it was a proposed Kobold mount. She giggled with glee; I've been informed that her desire to play a kobold in the next campaign just got reinforced. :)
Sabre-toothed toads ... think of the fear-factor for those squeamish of amphibians and reptiles. Get 2 for the price of 1!

I wonder... If you lick a slurk, what happens? Do kobolds collect slurk juice to make "adult beverages?"
I seem to recall a video of the Paizo crew partaking of some concoctions that likely tasted worse than anything a giant toad could secrete.
I'm guessing you mean this one! :)

Dude, you guys are so awesome!
I know the second guy was definitely Phil because he looks just like his avatar (and they call him Phil), but was the first guy Jason Bulmahn or a different Jason. (Or was it not a Jason at all?)
Yeah... that was me. At least I won a club swinging Ogre toy.
Ugg.. I can still taste that nasty beverage. That said, I am sure licking a slurk would be worse.

Try the Halloween flavors next time. Candy Corn is my personal favorite. It's got this really unnatural glowing orange yellow color to it. Can't be good for your insides but still it's tasty.
As far as I'm concerned the Brussel sprout soda is probably about what Slurk flavored soda would taste like.

I have to say that I like the creature, but frankly I think the name is just silly. I was going to say stupid, but that would be impolite. If I use them I will have to rename them. I am not sure what to call them yet, but I will come up with something. Hmm, maybe since Kobold is a Germanic word I will come up with a name in German....

Hmm . . . I disagree. First off 'Slurk' just sounds like a kobold word to me; secondly, the name 'Slurk' just captures a slimy, toad creature in my mind very well (perhaps because of the assonance?), and thirdly if you look at some of the monsters so far (Goblin Dog, Attic Whisperer, etc)they (Paizo) seems to be using a simple, more earthy naming convention, which I enjoy. I feel people are more likely to say, "Careful, Werner. That house is haunted by a pair of attic whisperers." compared to "Careful, Werner. That house is haunted by a pair of allips (or bodaks, etc). I understand mythos has a place . . . meh, just my opinion.
