My esteemed DM, Steve Greer, has a great campaign that we are going to begin in this Friday. The basic premise is that the characters are ourselves, transported to this alternate reality. Basically in to a D&D world.
Anyway, I think I have a lot of options with these stats, which were generated by taking the average of 3 online tests. I have an idea, but I wanted to see what the general community thought and why.
Str 14 (I thought this would be higher :[ )
Dex 16
Con 14
Int 12 (Same with this one :[ )
Wis 15
Cha 17 (At least Im charismatic! :] )
As you can see, I have a lot of options. Steve said he wants us to create the character we most envision ourselves as. One of the TAC Officers in the Police Academy called Police Officers the modern day Paladins, which I was actually considering. But I've also considered Cleric, Fighter, Ranger, Monk, Sorcerer, Rogue.
| Stebehil |
Bard was my first thought on this - high Cha and high Dex cry for it. Rogue is fitting. Paladin would be a good choice as well. The Sorcerer would get hurt somewhat with the Int - not that many skills. Same goes for Cleric, this one should be an undead hunter if a cleric. The Wis score may be a disadvantage later. Fighter, Ranger and Monk I´m not fond of with these scores.
If you envision yourself as a Paladin, then this should be the way to go. And as a police officer, this should be the ideal you strive for - the reality is different, of course, but so what - its fantasy, after all.

Multiclassed fighter-type(leaning toward ranger) and sorcerer with an outlook towards the Abjurant Champion PRC. Lose a couple caster levels but being able to cast Mage Armor for a +9 armor bonus and Shield for a +9 shield bonus (as a swift action for the last one) plus all the other good little bonuses that the 5 level PRC has (d10 HD for 1, extended swift-cast abjurations for another).
Just a thought.

I would go with either a Rogue or a Sorcerer if not a multi-classed version of them. With that good DEX makes it where you actually have half a chance hitting with all those ranged touch attack spells, like scorching ray. For its level it does really good damage. Unfortunately like I saw last weekend in a game I’m playing in, with our friendly Sorcerer damage don’t mean crap unless you actually hit. I think she hit 2/9 times she cast it that night. Anyways back to topic. Well actually that’s all I have to say for now.

or a "weapon finessed" style paladin
No, paladins really don't do very well with Weapon Finess or TWF builds. Sword-and-board or a two-hander, that's more or less your options.
Really, these stats are quite nice, you could do almost anything with them. I can tell you to avoid pure wizard and sorcecer, since they only really benefit from one stat and the others would be wasted.
I'm not really sure what you envision yourself as, but have you considered some even more alternative options? Warlock? Binder? Truenamer? All of these classes can be built in a variety of ways with different strengths, and all can get some benefit out of a good, versatile set like you've got.

I would agree with the bard or rogue ideas already presented here. Another thing I would consider is a fighter or ranger multiclassed with sorcerer to pursue the one of the martial spellcasting PrCs like Eldritch Knight or Spellsword. Of course, since you're trying to keep it as close to being YOU as possible, these might not be appropriate.

Elf Paladin of Freedom (Favored Enemy variant), taking Elf Paladin substitution levels (Races of the Wild, pg. 155) at 1st, 3rd, and 5th. Feel the wrath of Corellon Larethian!
This works best if one of the other characters can fill in as the melee tank.

Congratulations!!! 51 weeks to go and then all will be gravy. Maybe I'll get a chance to see you when I visit Steve this June. Of course, he'll want me arrested if I destroy another one of his dragon minis ;)
BTW, my D&D stats were:
STR 13
CON 11
DEX 10
INT 14
WIS 12
CHA 11
I'm thinking an NPC class for me!!!!!! I should be leaning on a halberd at a city gate somewhere, failing my "sense motive" checks :)

I would go with Warlock. You have the high Dex and Cha for a really good one, and your Con and Str aren't bad either. Get some decent light armor, maybe a light mace. Make it a human and with your first two feats do Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot - that will let you sit back and zap enemies in melee combat with your more martial party members without the -4 penalty. Take the Hideous Blow evocation, which lets your channel your eldritch blast into your melee weapon - that will give you a good up close attack when you need it. Dump skill points into Concentration and Use Magic Device.

hexblade might be good too, but still lean toward rogue; nice thing about these stats is that a couple are on the border of an increase so as you level putting one point into them will give you another bonus point. I think the dex and charisma of this character lend very well to give almost all the rogue skills a decent bonus and give him a bit of better saves on the tables that class is not to good at.

How did you find out your stats? Post linkage.

Mine ended up as:
STR 11
CON 10
DEX 14
INT 15
WIS 10
CHA 14Any ideas?
Well, you have Dex, Int, and Cha as "positive" stats, and the only class that jumps out at me for that is rogue. I was also going to throw swashbuckler in, but I think the low Con and Str might be a liability. Perhaps Scout and Ninja as well, but that's all variations on a theme: rogue.

Our entire gaming group did this a while back. Here's the link I think we used:

Oh man, talk about NPC ... I'd say Commoner with a few levels in the Village Idiot PrC
Str:12
Dex:11
Con:13
Int:6
Wis:8
Cha:8
The funny thing is, anyone who knows me would probably guffaw at those "high" physical attribute scores (I somewhat doubt I would be average let alone above average in strength or constitution), and (hopefully) laugh at loud at the Intelligence and Charisma scores (the wisdom is probably about right...)
Man, either that test sucks or I have been living a lie for a long time...

I know there is some way to create links, but Im sure its easier for you to copy and paste. Just take the average of the 3 tests, simmer and serve.

str 10
int 13
wis 14
dex 11
con 12
cha 11
See? 14 wisdom?
And they still never listen to me.
Mneeeeeeyah.
I godda 14 wis and an 11 cha.
There's something farted up there.
The cha test seemed to me to infer that if you are polite, people must not like you enough to let you walk in to their cubicle and fart any time you want.

My results were about what I expected:
10 Strength (well - should exercise more...)
14 Dexterity (doing fencing, Ju-Jutsu, and archery in the years past and doing regular LARP fighting training was not without effect)
13 Constitution (not that bad for a office worker, eh?)
16 Intelligence (now that´s something - you can call me bookish now)
13 Wisdom (well - not all hope is lost)
12 Charisma (hmm... shouldn´t work in PR, then)
Wizard it is for me then ... that´s what I would have asked for, anyway...
perhaps a level or two of fighter wouldn´t hurt.
EDIT: 32 point buy - hey, thats better overall than I would have expected.
While I´m at it: age 37, height 6´5´´, weight 230 lbs, light brown hair, blue eyes - so much for vital statistics :-)

STR 10
CON 16
DEX 13
INT 15
WIS 14
Cha 10
Wow I thought my STR would be higher. I'm 6'2 210. I'd like to think I was above the norm on STR. I also thought my dex would be a little higher. I'm not that gracful, but I've been doing archery and shooting with long and short ranged firerms since I was little. Oh well I can take a beating.

Huh, interesting tests. I thought I'd score higher on some things
Str: 13 (figured that)
Dex: 15 (Thought it'd be like 15-16)
Con: 15 (About right for some things, bit high for some)
Int: 13 (Iffy on high/low)
Wis: 12 (Huh, always thought it'd be higher)
Cha: 15 (I'm a people person ^^)
I feel like a rogue, and none to surprisingly, that's what my friends call me.
