Sebastian,
Which godforsaken town/village/one stoplight farmland are you from? I'm from that side of the state but south (Comstock) and am over in GR too often for my preference so I know the area a bit.
I'm from the bustling metropolis of Greenville. Its most recent claim to fame was the loss of the number one employer in the area a year or so ago. The county had one of the highest unemployment rates in the state, and given that Michigan has the highest unemployment rate in the nation, spirits are not very high there at the moment.
Are you in Ann Arbor going to U of M? I graduated from LS&A some time ago (longer than I would care to admit, in fact).

In A2 but graduated LS&A some time ago myself...back in 1996. Left to go to D.C. area for 4 years and then Indiana for a year before I ran away and right back to the town I wanted to live in. I despise the snow and the current MI economy but otherwise like Ann Arbor.
Wow, that's further back than I graduated. Ann Arbor is, as far as I can tell, probably the nicest city in the whole state. My wife claims it as the one place in which she would live if I were to ever drag her to the midwest.

Ticonderoga, NY, bashing my head against a computer screen writing posts because there's nothing else to do in this godforsaken place. It's like living in nothern Ontario. Or the moon.
Just looked at a map. You really are up there, Mr. Shiny.
I'm in Putnam Valley, NY. One hour north of NYC.

It's consistently listed as one of the top 10 cities to live in in the country. I've traveled a bit and I tend to agree. Much of the life and energy as a larger city without some of the problems.
We moved 6 times in the first 7 years we were married and when we got back here my wife said very clearly that we were done moving. That is currently creating several challenges as I attempt to change jobs/careers, but I'm still hoping for that happy ending.
And the food here is hard to beat. Food is a happy.

Unfortunately, my wife made that same statement about our current location.
The food there is good, they even have decent sushi (and, back in the day, a bizzare not-so-decent sushi/donut place).
What industry are you in?

Ten years ago I ate at a vegetarian place called Seva's (or something that sounded like that) in Ann Arbor. It was splendid. I was surprised that they didn't have any organic vegetable offerings, nor did the local stores at the time.

At the risk of threadjacking a bit further...
I am currently in the home improvement industry. I am looking to change industries and be a district/regional/divisional (depending on size of company) manager or director. I'm looking at a bunch of different industries but have not yet found a fit.
It is tough when the first statement they hear is 'will not relocate'.
On topic,
I'm off to the bowling alley in a bit to excercise one of my other obsessions (not dark, smoky places--actually the bowling).

Well shoot, I could just pop up the Beltway to 45. It'd only be an hour drive.
I noticed another German-turned-Texan further up the list; Ich war aus Bayern geboren, mein Freund! But my German has atrophied to the point where all I can do is count and cuss in it.

So did you find anything besides old shell fragments? I know that between Killeen & Florence there's some pretty good areas for other stuff. The most we found on my grandmother's place was a BUNCH of arrowheads.

Right now Flemington NJ...counting down the (looks at clock) last 26 minutes of my work day.
At night, Frenchtown NJ, along the lovely Delaware River, which has nearly flooded me out of my apartment 3 times in 24 months.
Somerville here. I would bring up the idea of meeting for a game but my life is work, school and sleep.

Come to Delaware! We have lower taxes, no sales tax and way lower auto insurance! Oh, yeah, and cookies (seems everyone is looking for them these days).

BTW, my girlfriend is half-finnish/half-german. We will visit Finland in summer, with being at the arctic circle around midsummer night. I´m really looking forward to that :-)

My wife and I are seriously considering moving within the next few years. We both have to finish school first.
She has a fixation on oceanfront property. I assume it is obscenely expensive there also.

STL, MO, as ever
I'm on the other side of the state, in the godforsaken Midland Empire north of Kansas City. Thank God I get to travel a lot for my job, I get over to St. Louis every few months, and this winter I spent a month in Europe, mostly in Vevey, Montreux, and all around Southern & mid-Switzerland, but with side trips to Paris, Amiens, and Chamonix, France, and Milan, Italy. Best part was getting to bring my wife along. Probably heading back there again in July.

Heh heh, nice. I'm from the same island as Lilo, though by looking at the map in the movie she's somewhere in Koloa whereas I grew up in Kapaa. That said, through a series of fortunate movings (I say fortunate because back in '91 I got the hell off that rock) my family and I have found ourselves in Seattle, WA (well, Magnolia, really...but my mail says Seattle, so there!)

Tempe, AZ. No longer at school, but love living the lifestyle and second poster from the Great Southwest (after f2k). The rest of Texas is the South. I notice we have not had responders outside of NA and Europe.

In the hellish nowhere that is southern Colorado; thats right folks! Its a 45 minute drive to the nearest civilization (Trinidad) and a full hour and a half to the nearest gaming group or shop that I know of! Yipee! Move right on down folks; in addition to a distinct lack of good schools, an over abundance of crummy little bars elling cheap beer, an obssession with killing things and having them stuffed and hung on a wall and terrible grammar we have hellish weather. Snow a little while ago and now wind. Welcome to heaven!
