Hey all,
I've noticed something I can't figure out - in Dungeon #139, There Is No Honor, in room D31, there's a flavor description of Rowyn's lounge...
"A shelf to the north holds several books, statuettes, stuffed animals, a crystal ball with a smoky red light at its core..."
The crystal isn't described afterwards. Is it magical or some knick-knack?

It probably is nothing of importance, though it is conspicuously absent from the descriptions under treasure.
It seems neat though, whatever it is.
Based on the title of your post I thought you were asking what is in the background on each page, and I was going to answer you and feel really smart. But instead I just replied to your post with no helpful information at all.
Cheers!

I bet it started out as a super reved-up abyssal palantir, probably the missing left eye of Demogorgon's right head or something, originally intended to give the PCs, in the very last climax of episode 12, one last desperate hope of saving all humanity, the great wheel, and time itself (and all that goes along with those goodies, even lava lamps), . . . but, in the final edit, word limits necessitated reducing it to a lava lamp right away.

As a slight benefit, they also give off light as a candle.
