with the overwhelming success with the "icons" line of mini's from wizards, i was wondering if there were any plans to release this classic monster in all it's plastic glory?
Oooh! I'll second that. Great idea! I just hope they can keep the cost down... I bought the gargantuan black, but I'm not going to shell out $75 for the colossal red.

Ooohhh... a Tarresque miniature (or is that big-ature ala 'extras' as seen on the LotR DVDs?)
Anywho... I'd like that too. (I'd have to save for it, like I'm saving for the Gargantuan Black Dragon and the Colossal Red Dragon.)
Hey... while we're (sorta) discussing D&D minis "ICONS" what about a Kraken!?! (It's another gargantuan creature, and pretty 'iconic' I'd say.)
Hmmm

This topic (a Tarrasque mini for the Icons series) came up during the D&D Minis seminar at GenCon. As best I can recall, the panelists talked about how they wanted to make sure that any creature they created as an Icon was something that people would actually be likely to use in-game (the Role Playing game, that is). They asked how many people in the room would use a Tarrasque mini, and relatively few hands went up.
HOWEVER, they also said they watch the D&D Minis board at Wizards' own web site, and if there are specific minis people want to see, posting a thread there (or posting an appropriate comment in an existing thread on that topic) is a very good way to let them know.

Why do you think the line is an overwhelming success? Personally I just snagged the Gargantuan Blue Dragon for $15 bucks because my local FLGs has their icons marked down drastically trying to move the stock. Now this is anecdotal and may or may not reflect trends seen else ware but I seriously doubt it was really all that phenomenal for wizards or they'd be putting out one a month. I think the Tarrasque would likely do a little worse then a Dragon as well - big dragons play a part in any fantasy RPGs, in other words one could see a DM that plays another system (but with mini's) choosing to pick one up for the big climatic battle with the dragon - I mean one could actually see the mini playing a role in the epic finale for something like a Shadowrun game. A Tarrasque not so much.
Plus, of course, the economy is crap, especially in WotCs major North American market. Big mini's that go for $50 bucks are luxury items even for a D&D group that plays with mini's. I doubt such a thing will sell well in this market even if one could have moved them 30 months ago.

runs out of thread.
I went and looked and did not see it any more so presumably it sold. Still if one sold others will probably, eventually.
I skimmed the web and there was someone selling a black for about $30 which is a bit of a discount.
Finally if you live in Toronto 401 Games is still selling the Gargantuan Blue for $15. See it here

....wait a sec....
You guys might want to check out THIS ebay auction. In fact my biggest concern here is this has my 'to good to be true' radar going. Though considering the auction is going to run 7 days it'll probably get up there.
