In all my years of playing D&D, I seem to have missed out on any "campaign setting" books for Greyhawk. What I'm asking the community at large is to give me a hint of what books I should think about getting if I wanted to learn more about Greyhawk. (With the PDF downloads now available, this could be good.)
FWIW, I prefer "fluffy" (...I hate that term...) to "crunchy," meaning I would prefer stuff more along the lines of setting, history, and flavor rather than crunchy rules stuff.
Prefer 3E + up, but will not ignore 2E & lower.
Help me, o sages of Greyhawk, and show me the ways of Greyhawk, and lead me not into temptation of newer, shinier stuff! :-D

For 3E +, I highly recommend the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer. It goes into great detail about the various nations, politics, personalities, and races that populate the World of Greyhawk and what are some of the possible game ideas for each of the nations. The Gazetteer also gives an excellent history of the World of Greyhawk from the time of the rain of colorless fire that destroyed the Suel Empire to the the years following the end of the Greyhawk Wars.
As for 2nd Edition, I would also recommend the From the Ashes box set and the City of Greyhawk boxed set. I think that both of them are available in pdf format now.

I'm a big fan of The Player's Guide to Greyhawk suppliment as it puts things in a "what would the PCs know" perspective. It was required reading before I started my Age of Worms game to help get the players "into" the game. A lot of the material is expanded upon by The Adventure Begins and the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer. There's very little "crunch" in most of the Greyhawk products out there as its always been a "baseline" campaign setting that everything else diverts from.

We do too. We use "flavor." :)

Oh! And don't forget to pick up copies of Dungeon #118 through #121 for the super cool Greyhawk map therein. (I took my copies of those maps home with me because they're so cool and I don't even DM in Greyhawk!) :D

For recent history get either of the Box sets available for download. For the most part they are character stat light and can be converted without too much problem.
D&D 1E -
World of Greyhawk Campaigns Setting is set in 576 CY. There is is an older folio format product and the newer box set. Get the newer one.
D&D 2E -
From the Ashes which is set in 585 CY
You should also pick up Greyhawk Adventures: The Adventure Begins is set in 591 also, but concentrates on the City of Greyhawk itself.

try to find Rary the Traitor for the Bright Desert & Maure Castle...
The Marklands is available from Paizo...there's a source book about Iuz's lands that's very good also.
The Scarlet Brotherhood from WOC covers the Amedio & Hepmonaland...
there was unpublished sourcebook on the Great Kingdom called Ivid the Undying.....

Carl Sargent's Ivid the Undying to be exact. Great work that never saw the light except for being a download. Looks like the old link is dead but someone else has converted it to a .pdf. Enjoy!

one of our players works at kinko's, and he laminated them into a giant poster-sized worldmap. :)

I'd say the '83 World of Greyhawk box-set is the bible for all things GH, but I tend to be old school.
The resources you choose to obtain really depend on what year you want to base your GH in. If you want to go pure Gygax, go with my suggestion above, find it on eBay or whatever. The setting takes place in the year 576 CY.
If you want to go further ahead in the GH timeline, pick up some of the other supplements mentioned in the above posts. The Adventure begins is one of my favorites. As is Player's Guide to Greyhawk. And of course, the Living Greyhwak Gazeteer is the quintessential resource for GH year 591 CY.

This is worth seconding. Ghul is absolutely right -- 83 boxed set, Living Greyhawk Gazetteer, and Player's Guide to Greyhawk. There are some other very good products, but these are far and away the best.
I would get the LGG first, personally, but take care: there's another cheap product (also some Gazetteer, I think) WotC put out in preparation for the launch of Living Greyhawk that contained little useful information.
Regards and Good Luck,

If you ever need to know what the various products look like, just go to this page. Its amazing!

For those generally interested in Greyhawk material,

is a great, but inofficial website, with lots of material.Stefan
While you are there, also check the sister site http://www.oerthjournal.com
Oerth Journal has been written over the years by a series of professional and semi-professional Greyhawk authors.

Are there any plans to release City of Greyhawk and The Adventure Begins as a PDF? I'm looking to buy it, but would only want either the PDF (from Paizo) or a hard copy off of E-bay.
RPGNow.com has them as PDF files.
Paizo also has The Adventure Begins.
