I'm quoting Puk here who had an excellent Idea:
"Seeing how lots of people here are running, or planning on running the adventure path, I figured it might be worthwhile to bundle some of our experiences here. I'm thinking stuff like errata, faq, neat side-treks, how best to run certain encounters etc.
It might also be a good idea to bring together
some 'background' stuff on Cauldron, such as a timeline, or a description of certain NPC's or locations not detailed in Dungeon.
I've been working on a timeline based on what's been published sofar. I'll post it here when I'm ready. I also have some of the locations worked out in more detail, which I can put up here if anyone is interested. So how bout it? anyone interested?
Puk"
so what have you done in cauldron?

Thanks Nahualt.I posted a preliminary timeline in another thread. Feel free to comment.
b.t.w. I changed my avantar name from PUK to Chef's Slaad because there's a PUG arround here. Confusion is a good thing, but only in moderation. Besides, I was bored with my old name anyway.

I'm always willing to share my experiences, and equally as eager to read others' experiences.
As for organization of the discussions, I think we can create new threads, instead of one mega-topic (I don't like going through hundreds of posts to find an answer) when someone wants specific information... like the current timeline thread.
Perhaps when someone feels the need (or has the time) they can start a Life's Bazaar thread for all things in that adventure. Or maybe someone would like a more specific topic, like how to handle the final battle.
I will shortly start an NPC thread for some of my thoughts...

Man, I can't tell you how much editing I've had to do on this game. Not because it was lacking notes and such, but my players dragged the storyline everywhere but where it was suppose to go. They've declared war on the Last Laugh, and so I need to create stat's for the other heads of the guild. Kazmojen is still alive and well, and they want to delve back down into Jzadirune to kill him and finish looting. I've got a mage who decided to become a compeating store to Skie's Treasury and open his own. I've got another guy who's trying to build a new church in the city to his forgotten God. It goes on and on.
I'd have to say that each GM's game is their own. I never thought mine would wander off in the direction it has. I don't know how the players are going to react when they see the city destroyed right in front of their eyes. But, I'll offer any help you need once you get the campaign underway.

congratulations on an excellent troupe of players. On my group well they were captured during flood season and failed to get the wands, lord mayor had to pay the ransom. Later on I plan to have Vlantrue hire them to track down Triel and kill her.
One of my players have a cleric to Thrithereon and has started a minor cell of rebels to usurp power from the Lord mayor. Another is a mage and wants to join the MTA, and he just might with Krewis help. The other has almost taken over the orphanage.

I have web space and the desire to create a central repository for all the fan created material dealing with the adventure path. I'll try and get it up this weekend. I'll cruise through all the threads, grab what I can, and put it on the web.
If anybody has material to contribute, you can send it to me directly at paladin @ wispertel DOT net.

Very cool. Is it for example legal to post reading texts or riddles translated to German...
Perhaps we can also collect the aura information for the areas and rooms there... (or in a web enhancement... nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

Hey jhilahd, here it is
START
Yohan’s Herbs and Tobacco
Yohan Mur deserted the Chalmon Militia (change name to fit campaign) at the age of 13 after he was drafted as a “bandage runner” (youth medic) where he learned healing skills. He fled to the forests west of Cauldron and took up with a small community of elves, half-elves and humans who philosophically rejected the greater social structures of the Kingdom. Here he studied the special medicinal and spiritual properties of the flora of the forrest. Now on his own, he supplements his “living off the land” life style in Cauldron’s Tradesmen’s Market. His secondary motivation for spending time in town is to educate the inhabitants of Cauldron on the importance of maintaining the richness of the forrest and to monitor activities that might affect the forrest.
Yohan arrives each morning in Cauldron a few minutes after sunrise. He passes through the West-gate walking along side of his mule “Laurel” Mule (1): hp 19; Monster Manual 276. Laurel pulls a medium sized cart the 4 miles from their forrest home. The cart is packed with all of Yohan’s sale goods. Yohan and Laurel follow Cauldron’s streets to the Tradesman’s Market on the extreme Western side of Lava Avenue, between Lava Avenue and Tradesman’s Alley. (seen on the Cauldron Map as six white roofed canvas kiosks with Lava ave to the west and Tradesman’s Alley to it’s east). Yohan’s Kiosk is the one one the extreme south west corner. He immediately begins to brew his morning teas (see Goods List) in small kettles over a modest fire. He then begins to arrange his herbs and tobaccos for sale on the cart that has turned into a stall.
(Read Aloud Text)
As you approach the kiosk a tall thin man in his late twenties with a long straggly beard in well worn clothes greets you with a warm smile that begins and ends in his bright gray/blue eyes. He has a impressively wide array of different herbs and tobaccos for such a small cart. He feeds a mule behind him with one hand as he asks you, “Hello friend, are you interested in any fortifying herbs or tasty tobaccos?”
(End Read Aloud Text)
Yohan Mur, Male Human Exp3: CR 2; Medium-size Humanoid; HD 3d6+4; hp 14; Init +1; Spd 30 ft.; AC 11, touch 11, flat-footed 10 ]; Atk +2 melee (1d6, quarterstaff) or +2 melee (1d3 subdual, unarmed strike); AL NG; SV Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +3; Str 10, Dex 13, Con 12, Int 15, Wis 15, Cha 14. Height 6 ft. 2 in. Weight 180 lb.
Skills: Handle Animal +6, Heal +8(+2 Self-Sufficient Feat), Knowledge: (Nature) +6, Profession: (Brewer) +4, (Farmer) +4, (Herbalist) +6(+9 Skill Focus), Ride +2, Search +6, Survival +8(+2 Self-Sufficient Feat), Swim +6. Feats: Skill Focus (Herbalist), Self-Sufficient, Run.
Possessions: Quarterstaff, Explorer’s Outfit, Mule, Cart, Healer’s Kit, 10 gp, 30 sp, 17 cp, 2 potions of Cure Light Wounds, Goods (see list).
Yohan’s cart is extremely popular in the morning for his Coulosis Tea that all hard working Cauldronites swear by. Yohan is a square dealer and will never overcharge a customer but he will also never under sell himself. His prices are already discounted and barely give him a profit. Instead of giving an extreme discount he will rather give the needed product away based on his perception dire need combined with extreme poverty. He will only do this with healing herbs never tobacco or teas. Yohan will continue to talk to characters as long as he thinks he is not boring them. He loves to talk about the bounty of the forrest and stories of his mule. Yohan is inquisitive and loves to learn about new people so he will ask questions until he feels he is being rude, which he never is, and will always apologize for asking too many questions. Any Good character with the Knowledge (local: Cauldron) will be an acquaintance of Yohan if not a good friend. He is always a good source of obvious information, current events and polite gossip. Yohan used to sell a mildly hallucinogenic tobacco chew called Abelb. This was put to a stop since Jenya Urikas of the Church of St. Cuthbert complained to the Lord Mayor (who was known to enjoy in partaking in the plant) who asked Captain Skellerang to talk to Yohan about becoming a bit more discreet in the activity.

Plot Ideas
Yohan learns of a Chaotic Evil Gnome Nec3/Rog2 who has moved into an apartment on Ash Avenue who has been selling a highly addictive narcotic made from liquid human remains. He knows that some one or two of the town guard is involved so he tried to speak to Jenya Urikas about it because she has the Mayor’s ear but she ignores and dismisses him due to their history. Yohan implores the player characters
to discreetly inform the authorities without alerting the town guard or to take out the gnome directly and find where he is getting his bodies.
END
also random jack added:
I was thinking you might want to add the total value of the trade goods he has. It is probably not much, but I know my rogue pcs would look forward to stealing his shirt at some point. Considering most items are of in copper I would think he has only 50 gp in total trade goods.
cut and paste it
peace

Hey guys! I just discovered these boards a week ago and have been avidly trying to soak up all the good info posted by everyone. I haven't yet started the long road of "Shackled City" yet, but am doing much of the prep work necessary to make it successful. One of the things I found particularily useful was reading other DM's campaign logs. Unfortunately there aren't many of these floating around. I currently read Lazybone's story hour on ENWorld, but beyond that I have yet to find many others. I find that many of my questions are answered during the course of reading through what other people did and many things I haven't even considered come to light while I read. If anyone has any campaign logs they want to share, please let me know. Once I get going I could also start posting here too or we could make another thread for that...

The battle has been joined. I began the shackled city arc on Tuesday, at our local game store. A great time was had by all and we are all looking forward to next weeks episode when the adventure begins with the party enroute to have a discussion with Keygan.
I chose to begin with each individual party member out on a raining evening seperatly. Rufus (sp) encounter with the thugs was the catalyst that brought them together. It was a great little encounter, that the party managed to handle with very little violence and no bloodshed what so ever (well rufus was a bit beat up)
The time at the orphanage was great as party slipped into sleuth mode. Interviewing and searching over the entire joint, much to head mistress distress (the childern were quite excited by all the fuss. Once again much to the head mistress'distress).
The party wanted an inn close by to the Church of St. Cuthbert so we now have "The Wayward Badger" (their name choice). The place caters mostly to the working class people of the area, and the few visitors that come on temple buissness. The proprietor is Alsard Igaldun, a kind baldheaded man who inherited the inn from his father on his passing. His wife Galinda, and daughter Ista see to the cooking and cleaning. A room here is a gold a night and is quite comfortable. Mornings come early as local craftspeople and mercants often enjoy a light breakfast of fruit tarts, boiled eggs, and fresh Kafi (coffee). Evenings tend to be conservative but jovial and the occassional local performer stops by to entertain the customners. Although Alsard doesnt contract for this specificly, he doesnt complain about it either. Dinners are usually hardy yet simple consisting of stews, meat pies, and bread. Ale is 2sp mug, spirits 5sp, and wine 3 sp.
Hope this of use to some of you. The tobaccoist above is great and I plan on using him soon.

I'm actually in the process of restarting my campaign. First of all I'm adapting the Adventure path to the Scarred Lands campaign setting. Changing the dieties, renaming certain places, etc. It's a bit of work, but seems to be melding in well.
I started with a group and we got through till Madness Season, and then the group splintered. My work hours got hectic, some couldn't make it anymore, there was a personality conflict with a couple of players, etc. In that campaign, I had an elven monk who went to help rebuild, and was given ownership of, the Lucky Monkey. The paladin joined with Alek, who is part of a different church in the Scarred Lands. My rogue was in the process of trying to infiltrate The Last Laugh.
My new group is starting the campaign MUSH style, as we're splintered all over the country since I moved to the Maritime provinces. Once I work through the logs, I'll post the story, or put it on my webpage and post the link.

I actually succesfully blended in a number of NPC's from Green Ronin's Freeport City of Adventure book. Kyrga - the dwarven rikshaw driver and frequent source of gossip. Otto - weapon shop owner as a great magic item contact. Glitch - naughty hobgoblin "firefighter" and pyromaniac.
Also, I am using Brick Top from the movie Snatch as a great underworld figure that frequently crosses the PCs' path and greatly irritates them (finally about to kill him - they learn he is actually Jenya's father *gasp*).

For resources i use Theives Quarter from the Games Mechanics to add a few older builngs along Crater Lake. From The speaker of dreams module i just borrowed the semi-sentient wagon\shrine of Fharlangn(hey those striders must have day jobs as caretakers at least!)located by the lakeside pavilion. And finally i found a map of Boccob's temple in Dungeon#99 because one of my player's mage character does'nt want anything to with Wee Jass.
