I actually play this guy in the Vengeance of the Downtrodden DW campaign.

But yeah, Tublat will try to read up and post tonight.

"Well, that's disconcerting..." Oadir takes the Goliath up on his offer. Well, let's see then. as he gets pulled up and sees the city guards arming up.

Okay, we have not long before they charge. We are all in reasonably good health, fit to fight, but we are lacking the necessary arms. We can still set up for ambush. Everyone, stick with me. Anyone who is certain they can take out multiple armed guards at once is to stand besides me. The rest of you, stand ready to charge in after we initiate. Pick up the weapons we make them drop and get ready to defend yourself. You need not kill any of them yourselves, just try to survive, help to distract and we'll take care of the rest. Once we take out a group, as many of us will arm ourselves as capably as possible.

Oadir pauses, realising he's just thinking out loud at this point.

In short: You think you can live through being outnumbered, you're with me. Anyone else, come in afterwards. No matter what anyone does, don't die in vain! Now some of you, go check around, see that there are no other entrances, the rest of you, prepare yourselves.

Oadir then turns to Dhorim: I know you're more than capable, but I need someone to spearhead the second charge. I'm going to ask you to stand and wait. You decide when we send the second wave. I trust your judgement on this.

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

With the immediate threat settled down Oadir rests a little. He may have hit his stride, but using his powers always wears him out a bit.

He attempts to take a mental note of what they've gathered up her now, so he can repeat it to any allies.
Roll if needed, blank, add as necessary: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12

He then gets up and walks over to the rescued but injured Kobold:
"Are you alright there? I'm assuming we've got the last of those bugs, but we need some to guard this place a little bit. I suggest you rest here for now and I'll appoint someone to sit with you, any preferences or suggestions?"

He turns to the rest of his new crew.
Good work men. If either of you wish to rest, here would be the place. If you think you can keep going then out you go. I haven't seen much opposition yet so I suspect they evacuated this area. I predict we'll clash with the populous soon, we'll need to be prepared for that.

Oadir steps outside and shouts at the top of his lungs: GATHER ROUND, TROOPS! TIME FOR RECKLESS LOOTING IS OVER, TIME FOR CALCULATED ASSAULT IS NIGH! COME HERE AND REGAIN STRENGTH, THAT WAS NOT A SUGGESTION, IT IS AN ORDER!

As his troops trickle in, Oadir performs a quick health check on every one of them, along with asking if they have any healing/medical capabilities. He's not expecting any, but won't have it go wasted if it's there. The brutal treatment of the Kobold spooked some sense into him. He would have to be less reckless with the lives that have been put in his hands.

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Oh Sees, what ever would I do without you?

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

So, quick summary. Bugs are dead, little Kobold is unclear.
Also I have been a dumb dumb and never wrote down what that leather armor does anywhere and now I can't find it...

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

What happened to the little Kobold?

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Wow, that's some safe and good rolling there... I'll see if I can take some risks in my upcoming posts. I can hardly imagine the bugs are still standing after all this, but damn is this a slaughter.

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Looks like it worked, but sorry little friends, I've got to leave you for a hot second.

Teleporting: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 2) + 3 = 11
Poof damage to bug on Kobold: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Oadir poofs out of existence and appears right next to the looting Kobold.
You okay there? What do you need?
Oadir looks over to the bug he's wrenched from the Kobold, it's coming back.
You think on that while I deal with this.

Oadir walks over to the bug, bearing the hit with his arms in front of him to get a hold of the beetle.
DD Con: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10
We Teleport back to the other 2, blasting all 3 hopefully.
Teleport with cargo beetle: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Oh well, I've found another female Kobold if things get dire. Now time to do some combat, I'd almost forgotten what it felt like.

Anybody in the mood for some bugsplatting?! Oadir yells out to his men.

Oadir metaphorically rolls up his sleeves, rubs his hands together, blows on them as if they were cold, and then unleashes a flurry of icicles when the scarabs draw near. Or draw close, actually ;)
Channeling a new technique (Blast aka 1d8 Close and 2 piercing): 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 3) + 3 = 12

I had 1 more slot left for a technique. Maybe I'll revise this stuff later, but for now here it is.

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Oadir calls one of the kobolds he has. Young one, what is your name?...Okay, I know you well enjoy plucking all valuables from the people of Estr, but I have an important job for you. We store our findings here for now, but as we press on we must find other locations for storage lest we lose most our time travelling back and forth. Besides, I don't trust this place, so any other suitable storage space would be preferred. Anyway, onto your job. I would like communication between the 'Generals', could you relay our situation to Retzack? You should know him as the goblin with the book. We need yo know what he's doing and vice versa. As for Thunk, I expect he presses on indefinitely, he may need reminding that his men have not infinite stamina, but all in due time, if you do find him ask him what he wants to do. If you've found Retzack or Thunk, spoken to them and gotten a return message from them please hasten yourself to me once more. I will leave my trace, uniquely to identify me. Oadir switches to Ice and freezes parts of water in sections where the rain doesn't hit it too hard and will melt his icicles. They point towards the direction he's going for convenience sake. Now go, {insert name}, be the messenger, most important job in the field.

DM Mooshybooshy, "the Foolish" wrote:

Oadir, you find a large building that can be used to put your newly-looted possessions inside safely - but there's something very wrong or unsafe about the building. What is it?...

All the buildings have some form of flooding, with the torrential rain water is pouring into everywhere it can go. Not this place, whether or not the water is pouring in this house, Oadir can't tell, but for some reasons the house sits comfortably dry. Foods and drinks should stay dry in here, if it can keep this up.

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Yeah, I'm sticking to the vicinity of Dhorim until I trust everything to be alright there. I would instruct some of the troops to return some of our findings to the temple, but that place is way too much of a mess to store anything. So instead I would like to find another good storung place. Wondering whether this is an intelligence or wisdom thing, I'll roll blank and you decide which to add.
Find a warehouse: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Dhorim, you're to be my second in command, my Lieu. It sounds like you fight indiscriminately, losing your distinction between friend and foe in the heat of battle. I will instruct any and all I can to stay out of your way, but I'll drop in from time to time to steer you in the right direction. Oadir talks to his Lieutenant.

Everyone under Oadir, I am he! We will be raiding the town! Go in their homes and take EVERYTHING from them! Their food, their ale, their LIFE!

This is Dhorim, my second in command! If I can't be reached for whatever reason, you go where this man goes! He's your beacon! Trust me, you'll be able to find him! Oadir shouts, and repeats in every language he knows. being Common, Orcish and Draconic, iirc, Infernal is probably unnecessary, as most, if not all Tieflings know one of the other 3, it also hurts to shout in Infernal

He follows it up with a short brief in all languages as well: If any of you know a language I didn't use, please repeat this message to any who didn't understand me! Now pick up whatever you wish to arm yourself with and meet me outside, we have to meet this rain with blood!

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

So, Thunk, are we going together or each our own way? I feel there is merit in both, but I can't yet facor in your newfound abilities. As for Tanard, is she coming with or staying here? Whenever we're ready I'm moving as many people as I can out of here, we're going for a wild ride. Oadir states as he eagerly looks around at the troops, his troops. He instantly doesn't mind not going with Greas, he would've gotten in the way there and he was needed here. Hell, he was nearly in charge here. Oadir turns to the Duergar: What's your name, friend? And what will be your favoured means of killing the rotten bastards?

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Hey, Retzack, I get that you're now 'married' to the supposed leader of the head group, but maybe a little less "us v them" mentality? I thought we were working past that. I was your primary romantic rival for a second there, from my perspective, and I played the part of both Best Man and Minister for you 'wedding', so if you'd take a little bit of grace that'd be much appreciated.

Also I understand that I am one of the more common posters here, but I never thought I'd get asked for specifically... like I get the context and all but it puts me on the spot a little, obligates me to post asap. I'm fine with it this time but maybe in future we don't do that? Life gets in the way and we don't want to be left hanging and all that.

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Yes, I will take the bulky tieflings, you take the sneak. She should serve you well in any assassination or covert operations. As for dividing by race, I'm wholeheartedly against that. It's easier to speak in terms of race when describing any specific person of the 50 odd people added to our ranks for the moment, but I aim to address every single one of them by name as soon as possible, and I suggest you do the same. The strength of this group is in its inclusive nature. I don't know how racist any of you aim to be, but I think mixed groups are good where they are possible.

I only asked for the Trolls because I know they should last a while out there, given their regenerative capabilities, as for the Duergar, he was the first to go against me and he was about to incite a riot, so I'm trying to get on his good side as I think he may be a valuable asset as such. All I'm saying is he has a way with the people. As for the Orcs, I'd gladly take them along. Kobolds are free to join my ranks or yours whichever way they please.

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

I will take a Captain's Role if need be, but I am no General. Right behind the front lines is where I should be. Give me a small group of big, burly men and I'll point them to where they can create the biggest chaos. I'm not sure if we have any Orcish blood around here, but I've found I can communicate with them decently under stressful circumstances. As for the tieflings, any bulky ones should split between the Assault Squads, while the slender ones are to be recruited to the Assassination Crew(s). Yes, we are that much defined by our body type, it's no big deal. Oadir mentions all of very matter-of-factly as he screens the crowd for a few moments to get the few biggest and baddest, he's definitely recruiting the Duergar and sending him to every place he'll see with ale, that Grey Dwarf is going to have the best pub crawl of his life!

Okay I am ready to take 10 to 15 troops, preferably big, hopefully strong, but most importantly durable! Trolls with me, please! You, Duergar, what is your name? Are you ready for all the ale this town has to offer? We're going on a raid!

If Thunk joins in, the number goes up to 20-25, so about half the group, of however many are interested. With Retzack taking most -if not all- of the Goblins this doesn't leave us with much.

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Dammit, I had written out this post on me rallying the troops, ready to go busting out and now I don't see it up. It's probably still open on my laptop... hopefully

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Greas, read again. Oadir and Thunk are to be the big bad distraction leaders while you go do clandestine stuff.

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

I need Sees down here, where'd you leave her, Retzack? Her and Thunk, a quick discussion, but I might be inclined to give each of them a pint, if they want more, they are to go out and get it themselves, preferably together with one of us who is sober.
Which reminds me, Oadir was not completely sober last I checked, since we've done a single day of actual going-ons spanning months now of RP, jeez

Quick Constitution check to see how Oadir's doing: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6) + 3 = 10

I'll manage to do it myself, but I would like some company. This group is a bit Kobold-heavy and I feel like the troops will follow a Kobold a bit more easily for the moment.

Yeah, yeah, alright then. I have no power in this but I've seen enough weddings to know my way around. Oadir coughs a little, setting on a posh voice.

If you were to exchange rings? He waits for them to stand ready. As we join you in a marriage that is not of love, but may still be in future, would you care to exchange any words of oath? If they do, he waits.

Then I hereby declare you husband and wife, you may do however you please. And on that note Oadir is outta there!

He then rushes downstairs, looking upon the group of mischief makers trying to, or having succeeded in getting into the alcohol supply, as he shouts: What in the Nine Layers of Hell is going on here?! Those drinks are to be sealed away for the BIG celebration! When we've taken the town, THEN we can drunk off our asses! And that's a promise!

Oadir stands, ready to take on the full brunt of the disappointment among the troops.
Let me know what roll is required, I just figured somebody had to do something. Oadir has been sitting eager to do this, but he wanted the ceremony to proceed as it should. No one deserves a rushed wedding, not even a political one.

Honestly thought Smoog and Thunk would have gone down to stop the forces from having a celebratory drink pre-emptively.

At the truth or truth session:
What do I most desire?
My greatest desire, should you have asked yesterday, I.may have said you, Sees. But my deepest desire now, and probably all along, has been a nurturing, loving environment, has been to earn my return to my village of old, or find a place like it. I think I projected some 9f that on you, Sees. My greatest desire is already being fulfilled by this group, because for the first time ever I found a place where I belong.

How can she get me to lie for her?

This is quite easy to answer. You can get me to lie for you by convincing me the lie is necessary. If you refer to me lying about this encounter, well, you'd have to magically force me to lie. Retzack could likely make my corpse lie for you, if it came to that.

Now for my questions to you, I may only ask for your true feelings this day and, given them, what you would wish me to do.
[ooc] "What are you really feeling right now?" and "What do you wish I would do?"

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

Oh, and some addition, I come from the school where the bad guys aren't necessarily aware they are evil, they are doing what they think is right. This is where our main antagonists were probably coming from, maybe they were fully aware they were destroying a deity incarnate, whatever the case.

Oadir is most decidedly neutral, because I've found the alignment system to be weird and wonky and weird. I try to insert some realism, my suspension of disbelief does not rise to evil characters so much. I don't get the rationalisation of "What did you expect, this is an evil campaign". I don't understand that, if you can justify your actions from an in-character standpoint then alright, but the whole 'because I'm evil' shtick only works when you take that and stick with it, not just throw it in there whenever you find you can't come up with another good reason or something. I don't know.

So I think we've come to the point where some characters are easy to read, while others are notoriously difficult.

Thunk, as a character, is easy to understand. I find you do a really good job of conveying the meaning of Thunk's thoughts through a lesser speech system.

Smoog is incredibly down to earth and back to business when it comes to interactions, I have not really seen much of internal Smoog yet, at all really.

Sees is probably THE hardest to read of all characters to me, with most actions coming completely out of left field. She seems like a character who mulls over what to do, then on a whim decides "I'll do THIS!", foregoing all that careful deliberation. But once she's decided her path, boy does she stick to it.

Then there's Greas, whom we have seen internal struggles written out for, but if I am to read them then I would say he is worrying about his shortcomings towards Gorlaug WAY too much, that's in the past and in no time at all he has positioned himself in a leading position under the new dragon Tanard.

Where Oadir lies in all of this is completely beyond my perspective and I do not have the selfreflection capabilities to even try, but I feel he's fairly consistent and predictable.

Lastly, we come to the meat of the issue, with Retzack, the character from another world. Who has been alien to us from his very conception in this story. He was the first Goblin in the story, but he also told us he was a Goblin from a different reality, so while I understand they are similar, they may not be the same, but I digress.

Retzack has been alienated and we're trying to rectify that, with recent actions that may have been out of the blue from Retzack's perspective. Understandably so, at least from Oadir, because he only recently actually expressed his distaste for the type of Necromancy, and even then it's been minor and stuck between loads of other words.

Through the interactions (or lack thereof) we have come to put Retzack in an outcast position somehow. I wouldn't have had it as such myself, but then we did split the party and he was on the other side. The amount of characters Retzack could interact with were limited to Smoog and Sees, if I recall correctly. Now when these two don't work to include the new guy, he's not going to self-insert for very long.

One of the downsides of this great DM is that with the arrival of... not Tallest but the other guy, see I can't even remember his name... anyway, they've bonded, but this has only gone to further alienate Retzack from the rest of the group.

And actually I can see my own actions and how this may have been in part the cause to my own status of outcast in my irl interactions with classmates and other social interactions. But again, I digress.

When Retzack became the character that spoke mostly with only NPCs, he became the outcast. Nobody but the DM ever really responded to him unless they needed something from him (myself not excluded).

Now however we've come to be hostile to Retzack, because we despise what he did with the slaves, because he alluded to similar ambitions towards Tanard.
Logically, Retzack is in the most high of grounds in this situation. Culturally though, he has no ground to stand on.

It was at this point that Firzenick/Oadir realised he didn't know at all where he was going with this...

OK, try to wrap it up. Retzack is outcast, group never loved him, now we want him to act like a saint and just take it, but this is still an evil campaign, and he ain't having none of that s+*@.

I'm growing more fond of Retzack's character in these interactions, because there's finally some real opposition to the guy, and this is how he reacts when driven into a corner. Delightfully evil, not great party comradery material though.

I must repeat though, I don't follow Sees' actions in this at all, but that's besides the point. Wait, what point? Ah what the hell. /rant

Personally, I have no gripes with this. I never suggested we use all our means to ascertain the truth, just one will do just fine. I must insist on my presence, however, in this exchange. I will openly and honestly answer any and all questions you may pose. Oadir is in, anyone else? They both need a witness people, or it doesn't count. That's how this works, right?

At some point I might kill the goblin myself if that's what it takes to get Sees back on the market. She'd probably love it, too.

No, but seriously, I think Oadir is about ready to move on from Sees he had a big crush on her but she is in no way making sense with her proposal to Retzack. Or in general, really. The whims of this woman have gone beyond the infatuation that Oadir might have held for her and passed on massively in the realm of 'dafuq?' o.0

In other news, I hear we have some slaves, who knows if one of them is short, black and most importantly female. DM?

EVERYONE, calm down. I'm sure we can all come to a civil conclusion here. Retzack may have been acting selfishly, or he may have been mistaken in his actions. He may be controlling the bugs inside his body or they may be controlling him. Either way, it's become clear that his actions up till now have not been entirely in stride with the rest of this group. Oadir steps up from his poor man's shoemaker's sit, he had been clenching his knees in his claws and they seem to be slightly bleeding.
Oadir is kinda heartbroken to have proposals go back and forth between Sees and Retzack, regardless either's reasoning.

From what I have learned of Retzack it is clear that he does not mean to actively oppose this group's cause. While I am still not a 100% clear on what that cause actually is, I am committed to this group first and foremost so I say I don't 100% care what it is either.

You call Retzack purposely selfish, but only now that we have gathered around and pushed our ideologies onto him does he push back. His actions in the infighting earlier were in support of Sees, regardless of her reasoning. That kind of devotion should speak for itself. If we could go back and actually listened to what he said before jumping in, and I might add that I have excellent memory, we would see that he was only supporting the leader of the group, as per his perspective.

Excellent memory? Don't make me laugh.

Oadir turns to Tallest-Silver: If anywhere we need proof of Tanard's amazing abilities though, we need not look further than Tallest-Silver here. I had sensed latent abilities in this fine Kobold, and was going to train her to unleash them, but Tanard needed do nothing but look and she was ready. Tanard may not yet be a deity in my eyes, but they are certainly worth revering.

Retzack, would you be willing to subject yourself to every form of Truth Serum and Trust exercise we all have to offer, to redeem yourself and your actions with this group? I have trouble killing an innocent child, even if it is Human of all things, I would be heartbroken if we were to strike at our supposed friend if he might be innocent all along. To me, it seems that Retzack might be more misguided, either by false beliefs of how this group functions or more malevolent means. Hinting back to those bugs there, are you in control of your actions, really?

Sees, it is my understanding that you might wrench truth from someone with your marvellous abilities. Would you be willing to use this to help ascertain Retzack's true intentions?

Smoog, before you join minds with Thunk, might I suggest you join minds with Retzack first? Thunk may have a speech impairment, but Retzack is the one we truly wish to know the inner thoughts of at this point, and I would say Thunk has been quite clear even through his speech-impairment.

Greas, you should know, above all others, that in situations like this, killing is a last resort, much more can be gained from many other methods. Corpses can't tell their secrets, but with Retzack around, they may still move. We'd then have all the possible opposition and physical struggle without any of the potential intelligence gain.

Thunk, I'm sorry if I can't proclaim my divine duty just yet, but I am in service to Tanard, or Red Nard or whatever they may end up calling themselves, in all other forms at a moments notice. I'm going to need to hear it from Tanard themselves though.
I can't remember, is Tanard a boy, or a girl?

There, not quite big enough for two posts, but I would say a considerable amount of talking nonetheless.

I'm going to try and get another monologue in, this time aimed at Retzack himself. Oadir is the most goody two shoes in this bunch, so he's going to try and convince Retzack to be a little more of that as well.

Male Tiefling Channeler (Shadow/Ice) | Lvl 6 | XP 5 | HP 14/28 | CON +3 STR +2 DEX -1 INT +2 WIS +0 CHA +0 |

We have a large group of warriors of different kinds of use down there, I doubt we should use them all to the fullest. Oadir says in response to all the planning.

If we can find enough silver, I'm sure there is a good smith among the crew, probably the duergar. The 'enough' silver would really be the question, if we don't have it here, sacrificing the silverware, we're sure to be able to plunder it from Estr, no?

Oadir is trying to distract himself from what Sees is doing, rationally understanding what she could be doing there, but emotionally wrought nonetheless.

As far as the rest goes, I feel we can't all just up and leave. A bigger party is certainly useful if we are to deal with this Kondror guy, but we must have some to stay here and lead. With Hegh's last words, he said a lot, I'm ready to recount it, it won't take long.

World Religions is one of those areas where I like to have everyone contribute to the worldbuilding. Whatever the party of players wants to go with in terms of major religions is fine by me - Pathfinder deities, old D&D gods, or homebrewed deities - it doesn't matter which. To all kobolds, of course, dragons are the gods.

So, yeah, I understand that much, but if Dragons are to consider Bahamut and Tiamat as deities themselves, then wouldn't Kobolds also consider those the Gods-above-gods? It's all very muddled anyway.

But yeah, Oadir is not ready to call Tanard a God, nor would he have called Gorlaug a god.

He would consider them maybe at the same level as Liches, powerful entities with possibly god-like abilities, but at the same time birds can use sticks and we don't call them people, now do we?

I think Sees of all people was in before she was ever asked. I personally wouldn't say I'm quite ready to call this creature here a God, not one among the lines of [insert demonic god here], but that will not stop me from swearing to his will. Tanard, I am ever in your service, for all days I will do my best to make your innermost dreams and ambitions reality. I will suffer the deepest pain if it saves you but the slightest scrape. That I pledge with all my heart. Oadir speaks towards where Tanard is. He still has no idea if the dragon can speak, since he's never heard it.

Left some room there for interpretation, mostly to work around any mind-control and such.

On the topic of gods:
I'm not sure what kind of pantheon we're going with here, I haven't seen any reference to gods made before. I was going to throw out Ba'al or perhaps Orcus, I'd be willing to take this wherever we want, just checking with everyone. We could even go with ALL THE GODS if we want.

That... was... AWESOME! Here you go, do that again whenever you wish. As Oadir hands his music box to Sees

But concerning Retzack, what are your thoughts? Oadir asks pensively. It occurs to him that in the entire exchange only Tallest-Silver, Sees, Thunk and Tanard were present. Tallest doesn't speak much, Thunk was paying attention to other things. Tanard can't speak(?) so Sees was probably the only one to contemplate his rant.

Is Smoog building a Hyperbolic Timechamber? We going Android Saga here?

At no point have any of you tried to start a dialogue. I didn't even -know- that Tanard was important until just now. I -asked- what was going and was just told something like "making trouble". Perhaps if one of you approached Retzack about his actions and motivations, much of this could be avoided.

As you have stated before, Oadir has been one of the few to actually acknowledge you, as fully as he could. He's been on the other side of a party split for quite a while. He's been clear that he is uncomfortable with the idea of Necromancy in general, and your methods of doing it.

I understand at the same time, that this is mere deflection on my part. Yes, it's a problem. Yes, I'll acknowledge that it is one. Yes, something should have been done about this.

This would appear accurate, expect that you all have been tight as a family, and have -only- shown antagonism against Retzack. Indeed, Retzack BACKED YOU UP in an argument and he got STABBED for it. And you didn't even ACKNOWLEDGE the effort.

What I learned from that was "Try to befriend a Kobold, you'll get no thanks. But you will get stabbed."

You did back up Sees, but Sees was out of line at that time. Could Retzack have known this? Maybe not. Could he have been smart and realised that in-fighting is counter-productive. It's just a thought, but that was my gut reaction.

People were already suspicious of the character, if the foreshadowing had been done out of character, then it would be fine, but the foreshadowing itself was done so In Character, meaning people with some intelligence to them will be able to pick up on it, especially when you're pretty much the only one out there to keep notice of, the rest is at this point still strangers.

I don't play a distinctly evil person, never have done. And there is always such a thing as 'honor among thieves'. Of course reality isn't actually really like that, but this isn't reality, this is fantasy. Nobody had coloured outside the lines in my book yet, they all came to free slaves, pretty common Good thing to me.

If you want an evil character, that can be arranged. I can go that way. Starting tomorrow Oadir can be consumed by darkness from several different angles. Heck, one of those is basically in your hands (bugs in brain). It's just not what I personally expected from context.

Also, consider this being Oadir stabbing Retzack in the back if you will, consider Oadir more along the lines of a Lawful Evil and you just broke one of his laws, whichever way you twist it, this reaction is warranted. Heck, in Oadir's mind, Retzack is possibly being controlled by the bugs, putting him completely out of moral responsibility altogether. He's just trying to look out for you, man. You seem a little out of control at the moment.

Is that something you can debate against? Also, yes. Indeed, it wouldn't even be affected without signing.

As was clearly obvious when he used his character to report as such. There's a difference between his player endorsing it, his character endorsing it and finally the party endorsing it. Out Of Character it has been more than clear the Sees for example would not be happy if/when she found out. I haven't made any statements on Oadir because I try to live in what happens, not what might/will happen in the campaign. The story has taken much more interesting turns than I personally could have imagined when I had certain ideas in my head that I didn't opt to post out there as well.

The only time I choose to post of something that might happen is as it happens, asking if it could happen this way that I thought was really awesome.

7) Do you want me to just leave?

Absolutely not. I don't know what I want, this just seemed like an in-character thing to do. The group can still decide to keep you around, and Oadir may even be convinced of your Goblin-ness once more. Consider this the breakthrough that makes Retzack important not just to the plot, but to the other characters as well. (Greas has been hostile toward Retzack from the start though, can't help that myself. Oadir has been hesitant, but giving you the benefit of the doubt.)

Anyway, that's just my responses to all your questions. I already said I'm following my vision of the character first, that was my choice. I'm sorry if it has caused you any harm in this, and yeah, our visions of where this thing could go differed. I seem to have gotten the common posters on my side, but I never wanted there to be sides.
If I do get to be in the campaign set by Greas (DM Loopy) then you'll probably end up seeing that I can and will play someone more evil, brutal and cruel, it's just not what I had in mind for Oadir just yet.

Oadir still has room to grow that way if that's where we want the party to go though. Just listing a few things:
[list]

  • Demonic heritage, Oadir is still a Tiefling, Demons are bad, M'Kay?
  • Shadow element, Oadir spent too much time in the shadows and they consume him somehow
  • Dragon's blood cruelty, Oadir has acted upon it before, but the rage persisted beyond his conscious mind.
  • That little (set of) bug(s) you've got, right between his eye and brain, that triggers a change in the pre-frontal cortex and BAM, sociopath Oadir.
  • Any combination of the above, or something else entirely

Lastly, know that I do care about you, or I wouldn't have taken an hour in the middle of the night to respond to you in as full detail as possible. *Also edited for prettiness

I feel like there is still the insider-outsider distinction there.
I'm absolutely fine with Necromancy, it can be awesome. It's the fact that his actions give him motive to want allies dead.

Necromancy on the fat bastard, 100% okay with me.
Necromancy on the 'innocent bride and groom', 95% okay with me (the missing 5% was really only in the execution, would have hoped for more flair and less strong-arming)
Necromancy on Hegh, I can live with, say about 75% okay. He died by himself and then you went and picked him up.

A lot of it is helped by the fact that this world clearly separates soul and body after death.

It's when you go and place your eyes on allies, who have not yet died, and make them sign a contract, with eager looks of amassing an undead army, that you start getting on my bad side.

When you then go and target the new godly dragon with this ambition, you have sincerely and completely crossed a line, that's where it goes too far.

Oh and as a player, I have no objections against any Necromancy at all, and Gorlaug sounds absolutely awesome every time I learn more about him. The only thing not so awesome is how he was defeated by anything less than a massive army, but a ragtag group of adventurers can do a lot of things, after all.

Big post, was going to do it here, out of character, but felt it needed to be said by Oadir in gameplay.

I'm sorry, it's just gotten to be too much. I get it Retzack, you're having tons of fun, and it's 'delightfully evil'. Except that's something I'm looking for in an antagonist.

From the start this campaign has been described to me as a moral gray area, and I've treated it as such, but this is far beyond the range of what an anti-hero does.

You've absolutely crossed into antagonistic behaviour. No, scratch that, you're absolutely villainous.

You are making the kind of comments that an outright cartoonish villain would do to his minions, but you are doing so in the context of Necromancy.

You were aware that certain members of the party had gripes with the whole concept, you should have expected someone to speak up.

I really didn't want to do this, but I feel it's how the character would respond to the situation.
I generally try to avoid PvP, in DW it feels weird and messy, but I can't magic these actions away.

Oadir is immensely surprised by Sees' embrace. He's standing speechless, observing the situation. He feels pleasant in Sees' embrace, but extreme disgust at the way Retzack is handling stuff down there.

Group, I must speak with you all, immediately, about Retzack. For lack of a better term, it's been bugging me. I had some suspicions about Retzack, but he seemed tolerable. His actions here have made me think otherwise.

It is my theory that Retzack is not truly a Goblin, nor an ally. My thought is that Retzack is in actuality not controlling his bugs, but it's the other way around. Perhaps some kind of mutual arrangement, whichever, it doesn't matter.

Retzack's actions, especially these, are incredibly beneficial for his bugs, they'll get to colonise every single one of his 'creations'. What irks me most about this theory is that I recently had some of those bugs implanted in myself, and I would really like to see those removed.

I think I speak for all of us when I say that his tactics were questionable from the start, more in line with what Humans and the like would do. I was completely ready to tolerate it when I thought it was only going to be used on enemies, but I cannot stomach, nor tolerate, these tactics being used on our allies. We just freed these slaves, now they are to face eternal slavery after death.

I don't know if any of you picked up on it, but I heard him heavily imply that his goals are to put Tanard under such contract as well. It has come too far, he needs to be put in line. Regardless of the tactical advantage we might gain, there is a line to be drawn, lest we become worse then the enemies we come to slay.

I haven't been in this group for long, but having had one of us perish already, and being present when it happened, I feel incredibly close to all of you. I understand that you may not feel the same, I may be speaking out of turn, but this worries me deeply.

Whoo, wrote more than I thought I would there.

I have chosen to level up and take the new move Don't Blink which means I can now use the Teleport tag on others without a Defy Danger. It's a bit underwhelming of a development, especially for the 6th level, but don't you worry, it'll soon become super awesome. Also putting a point in Constitution, going for that +3 on rolls.

    Time to update some bonds:

Hegh uses the elements like me, I must make him my ally. +1
Hegh is dead, but not forgotten. His legacy lives on. I will do my best to fill a new role in this clan now that he is gone.
Not an actual new bond, but a line of resolution.

I got Greas caught, I'll have to make it up to him somehow. +1
I owe a great debt to Greas, but he seems to accept me. I must show that I am worth his acknowledgment.

I've fallen head over heels for Sees-Death, I must see where I stand with her. +1
Sees-Death has only affirmed she is worth my adoration, but she seems not to accept me like Hegh did in his final moments just yet, I must prove myself to her.

Thunk has promised to teach me how to Thump, I must show my worth to him. +1
I understand now that I'll never learn to Thump like Thunk, but I'd still love his mentorship.

Smoog seems to have a very thorough understanding of the world, we have much to discuss.
We haven't talked at all, really, no resolution here.

Retzack would have me fight next to those I oppose. They don't want to, and I'm seriously doubting whether I do.[/s] +1
I have found that I most certainly don't like fighting alongside Retzack's creations, but he's got his uses elsewhere, so I'll put up with it.

Krish and I seem somewhat kindred spirits, I'll try to look out for him, I hope he'll do the same for me. +1
I have found that Krish can look out for himself all right, now he's just got to look out for the rest of us.

A little abrasive, that Kibra, maybe he'd like some true blackness. +1 as Kibra left

I did have a proposed bond with Tessith myself, but since he never actually seems to have seen any play with me, it doesn't feel right taking an experience on that.

    Then on to the questions:
Did we learn something new and important about the world?
People die if they are killed!
Seriously, I'd say I learned that Necromancy is more than okay amongst the Humans, something I hadn't expected. +1
Did we overcome a notable monster or enemy?
    The Druid. +1
Did we loot a memorable treasure?
I'd say I gained the Ice element with the help of Hegh, got basically knighted and I have yet to check this leather armour, but memorable treasure is everywhere to be found around here. +1

That leaves me with +10 from EoS, putting me at 15, more than enough to level, so I'm going to work on that as well.

    Quick edit:
XP from alignment is basically an extra +1 whenever the first party question is answered yes. I'll take it now, but it might be worth rediscussing something for that Alignment going forward, something that actually comes forth from the character, since I don't feel I've been playing to actively pursue this one. This puts me at 16 pre-'level up' and that means 4 XP afterwards.

Also I'd like to do that quick Spout lore leather armor: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 6) + 2 = 11 as I didn't get around to that and it feels weird putting it up after all that's happened in the gameplay thread since the time I had.

Oadir feels satisfied with Hegh and Greas' approval, but is hesitant to get up in the window, he lurks in the shadow of the windowsill, ready to step up if he is called on.

Maybe if I'm up there with you, it'll help convince other non-Kobolds to join? Show them that you don't need to be a Kobold to be included? Just saying.

Great time for any RP I suppose, Oadir is on his way up, but I think we can all gather around and debrief.

I would also suggest, with a week off, we quickly go about doing an End-of-Session. It's beyond appropriate with the Druid defeated, the temple taken and the week off.

I guess that's our cue to move. I think we're done here. Thank you, Greas. You don't know how much you've all come to mean to me in the past days.

As Oadir and Greas wander off to head upstairs the shadows linger in the shape of Hegh. It seems they know more than Oadir, because right as they turn the corner a Goblinoid shadow appears. Neither of the Blackscales notices.

I've only recited these to Greas for now.

    Hegh's last words:

Tell Shieldbearer to stay by Sees-Death's side. She will need him. Tanard will need him. If you can, tell Smoog that he should not be afraid to lead. And tell Sees that I am sorry I failed her.

Hegh's voice weakens to a whisper. Remind Greas to keep his rage focused on Gorlaug's killers. Petty squabbles will be the end of this. And Oadir, I misjudged you.

The tiefling has to lean in close to hear the last line. Hegh spits blood onto the tiefling's arm, and the blood burns as it is absorbed into his skin. Welcome to the Bloodguard. Hegh's eyes close for the last time.

After this Hegh grew large and told me to hop on his back. We flew through the skies, the peasants looking on with amazement, hiyting guards left and right until we got back to the watchtower. There we were caught by a net, I was about to slash it when Hegh turned it into coin. Peasant ran out into the streets to collect the gold.

I'm not sure when Hegh got injured, but getting back into the sewers, I think the adrenaline rush ended, followed by his collapse. He had some final words for a few of you. I will do my very best to recount them precisely."

Oadir slumps against a wall, shifting the shadow by his side to be the shape of Hegh, painted in the scene. Oadir is sat next to a slumped down, winged Kobold. Looking at it now, it's almost like being there at the time, the only difference being Oadir mouthing along as Hegh speaks.
