Doh! What the gorilla said.

You found some minions! Now go boss them around, brave heroes!
• Decrease the followers Loyalty by 1.
• They complain loudly, now or later, and demand something in return.
• Caution, fear, or laziness makes them take their time.
When a follower does something on their own or outside the scope of their tags or moves, the GM will tell you what happens.
When a follower helps you Hack and Slash or Volley, roll their damage die and yours and use the higher die.
When a follower helps you Defend, you can spend 1 hold to redirect an attack to them.
Followers can also Make Camp and Recover. If you want them to use one of their special moves, like set traps, that falls under Do Their Thing.

I know I've barely been posting, but I don't know what to post. I'm feeling a bit like the odd man out and whenever I do post I get ignored in all ways but the DM responding to my roll. I don't want to leave but quite frankly I don't know how to fit in with the current group.
Any ideas in what I could do would be appreciated. I feel like I did something with the net, but I might as well not have done, because nobody responded... That was really my last interaction in this Campaign.

Mmmmphf. I admit I'm not sure how to engage with your character. We've had established in-game connections with everyone in that we had already adventured together, but does Tublat get included with that? (Honestly, I thought someone else was going to engage with you, but it looks like we all thought that. ^_^)
For starts, have you written your bonds, or are you waiting on that? (Your pre-gen bonds are blank on your char sheet.)
Ummmm, hang in there and then slay something in combat. Gorn will take notice of your prowess in battle! =)

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Yizid's puny human mind is already weary of suggesting where to go, and he would be more than happy if a superior mind would try and take charge. Though only someone with mind-reading capabilities would be capable of discerning that.
GM Eldritch Horror
Hey Tublat, thanks for expressing your concerns. I sent you a PM on this subject, and I'm also going to get more of the NPCs reacting to you since you are the prison boss gorilla. I don't think your bonds were posted, if you have them can you post them here again?
I'm PMing Takesh to see, if she doesn't we can go from there.
GM Eldritch Horror
And something that just came to me Tublat, you would be really helpful with Yizid's holy man ruse. Move some stuff around, read minds and tell Yizid their secrets. The party doesn't really have anyone that can fill that role easily. Ropetail and Takesh's magic are more blasty, and Arcane Art isn't all that subtle.

This is a bit my fault, I admit. I should have interacted more, since we have already adventured together in game, and stuff like that. Ramonde will try and interact with you from now on :)
GM Eldritch Horror
It also occurs to me that Tublat could probably be the main scout, if that's something he is OK with. Since he can get visions and stuff, and has excellent Wisdom, he is very good at warning of danger. Better than Yizid, at least ;)
GM Eldritch Horror
It does look like Takesh is gone, so anyone who had a bond with her can rewrite it and get 1 XP.

Well I guess I don't have to worry about Takesh's ability to be accepted in the world! =) +1 XP
Do you want to invite someone else? Do you want me to?
GM Eldritch Horror
What does everyone think? Do you want to have a sixth player, or is five sufficient?

Right now we have a very odd energy. I can't feel anything really settling in to a pattern. It seems like...we're all waiting for something.
At this point I'd be in favor of adding someone else, if they're active. So, like, if someone wanted to pm someone.
Mind you, this also seems like a good time to add someone if they're not familiar with DW.
Ramonde
I agree with Gorn. Should we set up a thread, which might be more visible, or should we pm someone? I think I know someone who is interested, and I can pm him if you are OK with it?
Gorn Steelbreaker

I also could pm someone. I think this is a good idea for recruiting, actually. =) We all should try one, and if it doesn't work out, someone else gets to try. =)
Do you want me to try next, or does someone else want a go?

Hey guys, sorry I've been so quiet this past week. I can't explain why, but it's been really difficult to force myself to sit down and update the campaigns I'm in, both as a player and as a DM. I regret leaving you all hanging for this long and I don't intend to abandon ship, if you'll all still have me; I just need to get back into my creative mindstate and this flu I had for a few days recently really took it out of me.
As soon as I'm able to, I'll resume my regular schedule. I'll be trying every day...I'm just finding it very difficult to focus and just think. My mind is very...unsettled. Anxious. I don't know what kind of mental fugue I'm in but I want to get through it and be done. I don't like struggling this much just to write a few simple paragraphs of text.
Sorry about this, guys. I feel like I fall off my regular posting schedule all too often, every month practically, and all I have to say is that I'm thankful to be able to come back and rejoin my online gaming crew.
Just wanted to give you all an update so you don't think I died or something. :)
And if my spot is gone when I get back...I'll be disappointed but I will totally understand why. Whatever you guys think is best.

Hi all -
I'm the person Gorn contacted about joining this game. I've never played in Dungeon World before, but am very familiar with Pathfinder, so I have points of reference.
From the looks of it, you've got most of the classes already covered - any suggestions as to what role I could take in the group?
GM Eldritch Horror
Welcome! I don't think there's anything that is desperately needed, maybe a priest or mage to help with magicy stuff.
ZenFox42
How about a Dwarven priest who worships Kali, the goddess of creation and destruction? Who represents Nature, is worshiped by commoners, and whose enemies are un-natural creatures?
...altho, I'm not too sure I could do justice to the complete open-endedness of the spell effects (for example, limiting the effects of what I ask for to "first level" spells). OTOH, I really *hate* Vancian magic, so I won't do a Cleric. Now that I think about it, I suppose I could use *all* the first-level Cleric spells as a starting point, and expand from there...
Would a Ranger be of any help to the group? Or a Druid?
Those of you who know the system well, which of these 3 (if any) are "solid" classes? Do any of them stand out above the rest in terms of abilities/usefulness?
Thanks!
GM Eldritch Horror
I hate Vancian magic as well, especially in DW. I love the priest. I will say that I've always read the Invocation move as asking the GM to come up with the effect. You pick if it's meant to bolster, rebuke, control, or whatever the fourth choice is, I can't remeber off the top of my head, and then something happens to make that come to pass.

I'd say a Ranger would be quite fine, if the Priest or Mage don't appeal to you. I love the Priest, since it's so versatility.
Mind you, the DW Druid isn't really the PFS Druid which is "Like a cleric but different" and more "like the Ranger, but not as good". Hence, I can't really recommend it over much.
Hence, the Ranger's versatility and dual-wielding damage dealing is pretty neat.

Depending on the answers to my previous questions, here's my PC so far :
Class : Priest
Race : Dwarf
Name : Galdhar
Look : Sharp Eyes, Strange Hair, Habit, Knobby Body
Stat Value Bonus
STR 15 +1
DEX 12 0
CON 13 +1
INT 9 0
WIS 16 +2
CHA 8 -1
Max HP = 19
Alignment : Good
Load = 8
Items
Dungeon rations (5 uses, 1 weight)
Divine weapon (axe, 1 weight) : damage d6
Symbol of my deity : a small up-pointing triangle slightly overlapping a larger down-pointing triangle, on a necklace
Healing potion
Blessed leather armor (1 armor, 1 weight)
He worships Kali, the goddess who controls creation and destruction. Who represents Nature, is worshiped by commonersadventurers, whose enemies are un-natural creatures, and who demands obedience.
Any thoughts or comments?

I don't think we're Commoners. Hence, the preach to a mob power only works against a gaggle of NPCs.
Yeah, money in DW is...odd. In my experience it's kinda rare. Yeah, few characters actually start with money, so don't worry about that. =)
(Hell, a few characters don't even starts with -rations- and most don't start with Adventuring gear.)
GM Eldritch Horror
You likely start with no coins, which is why you're risking your life adventuring instead of getting a real job.
Are you asking what your social status is among cities and whatnot? If so, I'll execute the standard DW judo and ask if you are commoners.
Gorn Steelbreaker
|
Fine. In that case, yes, Gorn is a commoner. =)
The son of the union between an enormous human blacksmith and his captured ogre wife, he had no skill at the anvil, and so ventured out to make his name in the world.
As he has neither rank nor riches nor great fame, he would still be accounted by any general in the world as merely fodder for the line of infantry. An anchor, to be sure, but no great rank or position of honor would currently be offered to him.
GM Eldritch Horror
Looks good ZenFox. I'll let you jump into the gameplay thread when you feel it fits.
I'm going to be busy over the weekend, so I'm getting a gameplay post made and then I'll be back on Monday.
ZenFox42
Working out my Bonds...
"_______________ has insulted my deity; I do not trust them."
Tublat sounds like a nice fit for this - no ape should have a human intelligence (altho Ropetail would fit nicely too...).
"I trust _______________ implicitly; they are good and faithful."
Gorn sounds good for this.
"_______________ is in constant danger, I will keep them safe."
Sounds like Ramonde to me. :)
"I am working on converting _______________ to my faith."
How about Yizid for this?
GM Eldritch Horror
Sorry everyone, got really slammed Monday.
ZenFox, I would even be fine with you showing up during the fight. Call it divine inspiration.
