Yeah, this makes me very sad too. This was the only Con that was large enough and close enough to justify the time and money. Was also bummed when Penny Arcade who is local to the PNW decided to put their big TTRPG/Board Game con in Philly.

Now i've just resigned myself to likely never going to a in-person con again (at least of this size, and especially Pathfinder focused). Trying to see how i can make GenCon when Starfinder 2e is released, but as always, due to cost, it will be a long shot.

You did indeed run this wrong. You let there levels dictate what difficulty tier you ran them in which has no basis on how to choose. Your calculations (for the players - see below) were correct and you should have followed the organized play guide.

At 14 CP (as you calculated with the pregen) you run at low tier (level 1-2) WITH modifications listed for each encounter. As the guide states, always run low tier if 15CP or below. Don’t worry, the adjustments will make it harder.

NOTE: however, your original calculation on the pregen to use is off. The table says LESS THAN 12 CP use a level 1 pregen and for 12 or more use the level 3 pregen which adds +4CP. This would bump them up to 16CP. With 4 characters at 16CP you WOULD run at the higher tier (level 3-4) with NO adjustments to the encounters listed.

So in the end, the only change should have been running with the higher level pregen cleric…. Which probably would have helped.

Also, (probably)a lesser known fact — an investigator and rogue could disarm a trap requiring Master proficiency the second they start playing at level 1 if they have the Trapfinder feat.

Love reading these reports from OAD, especially since I'm also running Abomination Vaults.

However, I don't think you can die by Phantom Pain. It has the nonlethal trait and if you hit 0 HP you go unconscious, but don't gain the dying condition. When it ticks again it, you aren't dying, are at 0 HP again, but as its nonlethal you still wouldn't gain the dying condition.

Unless of course Mr. Beak's attack brought Rome down or Mr. Beak hit him while unconscious (unsure based on this report).

I also have my concerns about the decreased level range and the lack of high-level play. I think twilightknight's thoughts and insights are legitimate and valuable, especially considering his longstanding history of organizing such events.

If limiting the level range of the special is required due to work load, the level 3-8 option would have been optimal. I think even a level 5-10 special would be fine and disagree this would be "gatekeeping" as there are level 5 pregen characters. New players often don't even have characters made, so playing a pregen doesn't matter. Yes, playing a higher level one is more difficult, but i don't think inapproachable, especially for 2e.

Considering it was stated that these specials are the equivalent workload of 4 scenarios, this likely means that even dropping 1 regular scenario for another (higher-level) scenario would not be feasible. However, perhaps dropping a scenario (or two...ouch) and replacing it with a 3-part high level linked set of scenarios would be a great reward for you long-term players and do deserve to be treated well too (IE: All for Immortality series in PF1e)

Still looking forward for agents of edgewatch player content being sanctioned :O

Hmm, sorry to disappoint but you’re not going to see the whole AP sanctioned. Paizo already said they are not going to sanction that AP at all back in October 2020 (now I haven’t checked in on just the boons thing since it’s tough to parse that page — wish they had more headers to break up the sections):

*After careful consideration, we’ve decided against sanctioning the Agents of Edgewatch Adventure Path for Pathfinder Society play. Agents of Edgewatch contains themes and content that are best explored in a home group setting, among players who are comfortable engaging with them together. We will, however, be adding a curated selection of player-facing rules from the adventure path to the list of rewards you can purchase with Achievement Points.*

My order (Order #36368773) for March still hasn't shipped and is also stuck pending since 3/18/2021. Was wondering if all the shipping issues had been figured out yet or not.

(I also posted on the customer service forum yesterday)

Hello!

I’m looking for 4-5 new to new-ish players that would like to learn to play Pathfinder 2e. This game is also for experienced players wanting to get a friend or family member involved in Pathfinder 2e in a welcoming environment and adventure meant to teach the basics of the system.

I will be running the new Beginner Box adventure, “Menace Under Otari”. As I expect play to be slower due to teaching new players and the size of the adventure I anticipate this adventure will take TWO 4-5 hour sessions. The first session will be on Tuesday or Wednesday (11/24 or 11/25) and the 2nd session on Saturday or Sunday (11/28 or 11/29), all games starting at 6pm PST.

Level 1 Pre-generated characters will be available to play on Roll20, so you don’t need to create your own character before play. I do ask that all players be moderately tech savvy as I will use a number of applications to provide as immersive of an experience as I can. There may be some lag/slow-down if played on older/low-powered laptop.

Roll20 will be used as the virtual tabletop. Discord will be used for voice communication. Syrinscape online player will be used for music, sound effects and narration. Warhorn will be used to secure your spot at the table and provide links to the Roll20 game page, discord server, and syrinscape invitation code.

All services are free to use, but require a personal account. In addition, Pathfinder Society (PFS) organized play credit will be given after completion of each part of the adventure. I do request that any player has a Paizo account and PFS number to make it a legal table.

You can sign-up to play here: https://warhorn.net/events/tri-cities-organized-play/schedule/sessions/cc71 e69a-1ca0-4c82-a6b1-68a339027cc2

I have now ran this once and played in it once and a number of questions have sprung to mind about how Encounter C3 is supposed to be ran.

In the level 5-6 difficulty, Silaqui has no listed speed. I assume this is a typo in a copy and paste and that she can swim 50' per her stat block for the level 3-4 difficulty. Furthermore, are the grindylows able to move during the encounter or are they immobile and just "tangled up" in the kelp? Both stat blocks have a grindylow's normal 25' swim speed removed.

I also would like to know how the grindylow's can use their reaction since they are slowed and have no reactions. If they cannot move, I would think a fair balance would to remove the "slowed" condition like some zombies have so they can at least use their reaction.

The bloody vortex has no stealth modifier listed in the Level 3-4 difficulty to roll for initiative. I just did +0 as per the level 5-6 stat block.

Lastly, I would like to know other GMs input on how to run the "weeding kelp" or "magic disruption" activities before Encounter C3. To me, per the text, it seems a PC has to be adjacent to the kelp around the altar at the center of the vortex to "weed" it and adjacent to the altar to disrupt its magic. This makes the following combat make a lot more sense and action-packed, as they are close to the altar to trigger its damage, silaqui can reach out and bite them on the 1st round of combat and if the grindylows are immobile, they have a chance of doing something against the party. Otherwise as Robert stated (and my party did when i played), the party has no reason to get close and just picks off all enemies from a distance and take no damage from enemies or the hazard.

Hello,

I’m wondering why my order for my July subscriptions is still pending. If this can be expedited that would be appreciated as I would to take advantage of my subscription and get my eyes on that APG PDF (today?... please)

Hello,

My May monthly shipment is stuck in “Pending”, and I never received an email saying there was a payment processing issue or anything like that so I’m unsure why it’s stuck. Let me know what the issue is and if it’s something I have to do, I will get it done ASAP so I can get my hands on that Bestiary 2 PDF at least.

Thank you

I’m also super excited for the move to an online convention this year to at least have some sort of PaizoCon and would like to thank Tonya and all of the volunteers for their hard work.

My excitement is a bit tempered because it’s a week later so unfortunately that means my vacation is wasted as I head back to work right after the usual con and work the following weekend.... which is sad. However, I will definitely try to take advantage of as many slots as I can on my day or two off, family permitting at least.

It will be great to play and maybe GM for even more Pathfinder and a Starfinder fans!

One other thing...

Did anyone notice that this is the ONLY scenario that awards 4 fame as normal, but only TWO reputation????

I'm running this scenario tomorrow and i would really like confirmation from organized play staff whether this is correct, because it seems strange that this is the only scenario that awards only 50% reputation.

I too am at the same point where my normal table is now qualifying for the high tier with CP 16-18 based on their levels. I can also confirm it will almost assuredly be a TPK if run as written. I ran 1-01 high tier last week and almost TPK'd the whole party in every encounter, the damage is WAY to high. Furthermore, my players were very upset about the whole situation and the difficulty of the encounters.

CP 16-18 needs to add an additional choice: run high tier (no player adjust) OR run low tier with 6 player adjust AND a level bump to the scenario.

If no player is even level 3, then level 2 PCs should not be forced to play in the high tier. It creates a poor game experience for players and GM learning the new system.

Speaking of learning the new system for GMs. The player adjustment is just a MESS in scenarios right now. The player adjustment and OP guide should never be in conflict with one another. I disagree that scenarios should use their own specific adjustments that override the guide, it creates too many confusing points as XYXRT pointed out for the CP 16-19 adjustment. You definitely should not be combining the adjustment in the scenario with the OP level bump, because then most creatures in this scenario are gaining 20HP!

No the comics sub does not count. It is a licensed product and only NON-licensed subs count. (They did clarify that the Pawns subs DO count.

Wei Ji - lizard folk won’t be available at launch, but we already know from the banquet when they will be available to play (and I imagine for PFS too), which will be in October 2019 with the release of the Lost Omens character guide which will offer 3 new player race options: lizardfolk, hobgoblins and leshy.

I understand their will always be gnashing of teeth from those who don’t want to move on to to another edition, but for you all not to understand that they are not going to be running 2 campaigns going forward is absurd. This is a peace offering and allows them to provide limited “legacy” support for a system they will no longer be supporting, organized play or otherwise. If the company is going to continue having success and not implode it is in their best interest to incentivize people to move to 2e, otherwise the 2nd edition campaign will fail.

I don’t see the need to offer more than they are. A year after the release no major conventions will offer 1e games officially. There will be no more 1e products. However, your scenarios and 1e pathfinder aren’t going anywhere. So why care about replays at all people? If you don’t plan to play 2e, and you like pathfinder society scenarios then play them! To your heart’s content, over and over, forever. Use the pathfinder society rules if you like to, play with your local group or online and have fun! Otherwise what do you hope to get out of “official” 1e pfs characters going forward that won’t see any additional support?

Sorry I don't have the forum know-how on how to link exact PDF quotes and page numbers, but here's my question:

Does rolling a natural 20 on a gunnery check during starship combat cause your fired weapon to do double damage during the attack in addition to causing a critical damage effect?

It may seem obvious, but the critical hit rules say when making an attack roll you always hit on a natural 20 and if you beat their AC with modifiers you also do double damage and possibly a critical hit effect depending on the weapon used. However, the gunnery CHECK seems to be a skill check instead of an attack roll per se, and never once uses the term attack roll. It can use your base attack bonus, but that's not always true (You can just use your piloting skill instead), so everything involved in a gunnery check could just be skills and abilities which leads me to my confusion on the issue.

Is the main and only benefit of a nat 20 on a gunnery check causing a guaranteed critical damage effect to a random starship system (If it damages the hull)? Or does it do double damage and a critical damage effect which then could cascade and cause many, many other critical damage effects to random systems as it goes over the enemy ship's CT (Critical Threshold)?

Hello Rachael,

I am a venture agent and GM & Play in 2 every other week PFS games and an every other week pathfinder home game. I have a newer iPad and would be interested in trying out further content not currently on the app.

As for the subscription price, I know how important it is to have a consistent revenue stream for a smaller business and the generous pricing scheme was a pleasant surprise as it would take me over a decade of yearly subscriptions to come close to how much I have spent for Hero Lab.

I do agree with the comment about page animations above, it's too slow with little actual play benefit plus you have to make sure you swipe left or right on the exact page you want to turn in the correct direction like an actual book, but just ends up slowing things down further. I do like all the linking and the open books tab and the ability to arrange all your character sheet boxes. However I am a little concerned as a GM about how the monster stats were displayed when I tried them out and I'm not sure if initiative rolling is in the current product or I couldn't figure it out.

As a player it seems to require a lot of page flipping or scrolling to access all of your options. The pc app looks nice, but it doesn't seem to display as much character information on one screen as a Hero Lab character sheet. This may be a benefit for newer players to lessen decision paralysis, but for high tier PFS play I think it would slow me down on both sides of the screen, but I'm up for trying that out in practice further to confirm.

I also have a number of friends and players with an iPad that I might be able to try out the party talk and sharing features, but I'm not sure they have new enough iPads to run the app (4th gen iPads does seem a mighty high requirement).

That's just from a spending a small amount of time chEcking out the app. Hope that helps. Thanks for giving us additional options to try to facilitate play and GMing, I value anything that saves my time and/or adds something neat to my games.

Actually the change to a deflection bonus on the Jingasa of the Fortunate solider has the bigger impact on some of the games I run and am kinda excited to see it. One player that min/maxes and finds strange synergies in the game has a pugwampi gremlin with the unlucky aura.

For the price of 5000gp and up he can supply himself and his compatriots as he gains cash to ignore the aura with the old Jingasa vs. a luck stone that costs 20000gp each. This leads to every single enemy rolling twice for every d20 roll within 20 feet and taking the lower roll and the rest of the party ignoring it.

Although I agree with many of the posters that I would rather see them fixed to be balanced then just worthless and a waste of page space.

Hey all,

After running players in my local area through almost all of Season of the Shackles and Season of the Righteous and now with the addition of the new monthly class decks I was thinking that the next season could benefit from similar retraining rules from the PFS Role-playing guild.

I'm seeing with the increased class deck options and new players that players would like to change their mind on what decks or characters to play especially after seeing how their local groups play together, but the group and/or player doesn't necessarily want to go back and play those beginning scenarios again.

My idea would be to allow a player to pick a new character card from their class deck box or even another class entirely and keep their rewards and feats as long as they choose to do so before they become Tier 2 or before they gain their first card feat (whichever would work best in the minds of the developers).

I think it would be a nice addition and let new players or even veterans to try out the classes without fear of being "locked into" a class they don't like or then having to replay scenarios.

What do you think?
