Yeah, this makes me very sad too. This was the only Con that was large enough and close enough to justify the time and money. Was also bummed when Penny Arcade who is local to the PNW decided to put their big TTRPG/Board Game con in Philly.

Now i've just resigned myself to likely never going to a in-person con again (at least of this size, and especially Pathfinder focused). Trying to see how i can make GenCon when Starfinder 2e is released, but as always, due to cost, it will be a long shot.

Love reading these reports from OAD, especially since I'm also running Abomination Vaults.

However, I don't think you can die by Phantom Pain. It has the nonlethal trait and if you hit 0 HP you go unconscious, but don't gain the dying condition. When it ticks again it, you aren't dying, are at 0 HP again, but as its nonlethal you still wouldn't gain the dying condition.

Unless of course Mr. Beak's attack brought Rome down or Mr. Beak hit him while unconscious (unsure based on this report).

I also have my concerns about the decreased level range and the lack of high-level play. I think twilightknight's thoughts and insights are legitimate and valuable, especially considering his longstanding history of organizing such events.

If limiting the level range of the special is required due to work load, the level 3-8 option would have been optimal. I think even a level 5-10 special would be fine and disagree this would be "gatekeeping" as there are level 5 pregen characters. New players often don't even have characters made, so playing a pregen doesn't matter. Yes, playing a higher level one is more difficult, but i don't think inapproachable, especially for 2e.

Considering it was stated that these specials are the equivalent workload of 4 scenarios, this likely means that even dropping 1 regular scenario for another (higher-level) scenario would not be feasible. However, perhaps dropping a scenario (or two...ouch) and replacing it with a 3-part high level linked set of scenarios would be a great reward for you long-term players and do deserve to be treated well too (IE: All for Immortality series in PF1e)

I too am at the same point where my normal table is now qualifying for the high tier with CP 16-18 based on their levels. I can also confirm it will almost assuredly be a TPK if run as written. I ran 1-01 high tier last week and almost TPK'd the whole party in every encounter, the damage is WAY to high. Furthermore, my players were very upset about the whole situation and the difficulty of the encounters.

CP 16-18 needs to add an additional choice: run high tier (no player adjust) OR run low tier with 6 player adjust AND a level bump to the scenario.

If no player is even level 3, then level 2 PCs should not be forced to play in the high tier. It creates a poor game experience for players and GM learning the new system.

Speaking of learning the new system for GMs. The player adjustment is just a MESS in scenarios right now. The player adjustment and OP guide should never be in conflict with one another. I disagree that scenarios should use their own specific adjustments that override the guide, it creates too many confusing points as XYXRT pointed out for the CP 16-19 adjustment. You definitely should not be combining the adjustment in the scenario with the OP level bump, because then most creatures in this scenario are gaining 20HP!

Wei Ji - lizard folk won’t be available at launch, but we already know from the banquet when they will be available to play (and I imagine for PFS too), which will be in October 2019 with the release of the Lost Omens character guide which will offer 3 new player race options: lizardfolk, hobgoblins and leshy.

I understand their will always be gnashing of teeth from those who don’t want to move on to to another edition, but for you all not to understand that they are not going to be running 2 campaigns going forward is absurd. This is a peace offering and allows them to provide limited “legacy” support for a system they will no longer be supporting, organized play or otherwise. If the company is going to continue having success and not implode it is in their best interest to incentivize people to move to 2e, otherwise the 2nd edition campaign will fail.

I don’t see the need to offer more than they are. A year after the release no major conventions will offer 1e games officially. There will be no more 1e products. However, your scenarios and 1e pathfinder aren’t going anywhere. So why care about replays at all people? If you don’t plan to play 2e, and you like pathfinder society scenarios then play them! To your heart’s content, over and over, forever. Use the pathfinder society rules if you like to, play with your local group or online and have fun! Otherwise what do you hope to get out of “official” 1e pfs characters going forward that won’t see any additional support?

Actually the change to a deflection bonus on the Jingasa of the Fortunate solider has the bigger impact on some of the games I run and am kinda excited to see it. One player that min/maxes and finds strange synergies in the game has a pugwampi gremlin with the unlucky aura.

For the price of 5000gp and up he can supply himself and his compatriots as he gains cash to ignore the aura with the old Jingasa vs. a luck stone that costs 20000gp each. This leads to every single enemy rolling twice for every d20 roll within 20 feet and taking the lower roll and the rest of the party ignoring it.

Although I agree with many of the posters that I would rather see them fixed to be balanced then just worthless and a waste of page space.
