Anyone feel like reminiscing a little before this thread tapers out? Aubrey, you remember way way back when there was no dice roller so we all rolled at home and the maps were verbal descriptions that we all mapped out separately at home on our graph paper? That seems crazy now. Back in Athens, in our apartment I have an entire notebook/pad of graph paper filled from front to back with all of the maps from early years of this game. I came across it when moving and really enjoyed flipping back through all those memories of scenes some of which stretch over two pages. Out of all the crazy scenes over these years the one that I wander back to when reminiscing is that fight with Karile in the foundry with the catwalks, conveyor belt, magma pool, endless warforged and eventually a warforged titan. I think it was the fact that that fight was fully three dimensional in a way I had never encountered in a game with very unconventional terrain. The tension level was sky high, there were A LOT of warforged, I wasn't entirely sure if Ezreal was going to survive the buzzsaw machinery on that conveyor belt or have it drop him in the lava... and then the titan appeared! And then there was (I think) our first long term recurring villain in Karile. The game had already been amazing, but that scene took it to a new level for me. Cheers Aubrey. It was amazing and we had a lot of good times here over the years.
Being able to search the history of game play is huge. On the other hand being able to post images would be sweet. I suspect a work firewall will get discord and rpol.net. You should check that on Monday because it may effectively end some options. Neither specifically appeals to me over these boards, but discord is more actively being developed. When I flip through discord it looks too much like a messy chat room for pbp gaming but that is what it is. If we were using it for a different purpose I guess the IC rooms would look ok. I don't know if it is convention or site necessity but the rpol.net games I looked at break game threads into a series of smaller scenes. I don't know if I like that or not. As terrible as this site has been recently, I imagine they will get it together and it might not be worth migrating. That said they have another planned outage coming up in the next couple weeks to continue dealing with this one. It is infuriating that for years every time they have some grand announcement that will draw traffic it crashes the site. But they aren't going anywhere and hopefully they can improve.
The waterfall was known as Murderess Falls but the village changed it to Neraides (Nerid’s) Falls or Fairy Falls. Sounds like a good story there. And the castle that I was surprised at how much was still standing was inhabited until the 50’s. So that explains that. There are quite a few castles in the islands that are still active towns, though this one was probably religious hermits.
Everytime we vacation on Greek islands I'm constantly in the midst of perfect gaming set pieces. We just came back from exploring a Byzantine castle- a large part of which is still standing, including second floor. It had an ancient village spreading out from it some occupied and some ruins. The castle was protecting a narrow hidden valley with a crystal clear waterfall and the water mill village built into the steep hillsides along it. Very cool. Aubrey- you gotta get the fam over here sometime... for research purposes ;)
Haha. I haven't noticed yet but I'm on a small Greek island with 2g internet. So websites not loading properly is pretty standard right now. But that is a paizo classic for sure that has been the same old story for the last 10 years or so. It is weird that they have never been able 5o turn that around.

No, no. This is a cafe by a Greek American family here. They've had a successful wholesale business for 16 years but never a storefront and no experience on that side of things. I hired on to help them with that but there was a long delay when the deal for the original space didn't work out. This place is turning out to be very successful. We are still working out details toward my own project.
Green Giant wrote: Anybody getting the Playtest rulebook when it comes out? Or using the rules to check them out? I'll get the pdf. I haven't had a chance to follow along, but I like what little I've heard through podcasts and the actual play playest they did with GlassCannon. Sorry to be dense, but when I scrolled back the loot was 50,678 gp 5 sp. Then we need to set 22k aside to charter the ship. So 28,678.5 split... 4 ways? Ez, Kaz, Hal and Gil? Janosz, Rod, and LB were out as they were departing I think. So 7,169.62 each. Is that correct?
Probably archmage dual with either guardian or marshal. With fewer spell slots available I feel like focusing on buffs and some utility spells is probably the way to go to get the most use out of them which points to marshal, but most of the lower level abilities are a little ehhh. I haven't looked beyond first tier yet. Guardian actually has one that lets eidolons use mythic surge. I don't see her being up in melee intentionally but that path could definitely make her hard to kill.
I love that Eberron game. I'll make it work if the door is open, but I didn't want to assume since you were finishing up recruiting and writing out inactive PCs. I hadn't realized until I was looking at the recruitment that I'm the only original player at this point since we've had several as npcs for a while. Are you ok going on with 7 PCs? Posted a little early because I will be out of town the rest of today and most of tomorrow. Back tomorrow evening.
I live. A shift in family scheduling has left me exhausted and stretched too thin, but not gone for good. I got so behind that trying to catch up became another stress that I couldn't handle for a while. I am back over here now, and I think just here. Keeping up with only one game might be about where I am right now so that it doesn't snowball and become too intimidating as the posts mount.

Yeah we have high hopes for the orthopedic thing. It looks like it has repaired a shoulder injury she has been living with for nearly 20 years but we'll see once she can actually move that arm again. Anyone see this that was semi viral a couple days ago? That's our general area and the pic at the bottom must be from within a few streets of us. The trick with driving in snow/ice here is that each township does things their own way and I passed through a couple that were just fine on the way to work. Then on the immediate left turn that I made crossing the line into another township i couldn't see in the dark that it wasn't properly cleared/salted. I slid and hit a curb, blew out a tire, bent the rim and jacked the alignment up. Too much fun before 6am for one day. But overall it was relatively minor as far as something like that goes.
What was the (MA) next to some names in the init this round? They only have a move action because they were surprised or something? And sorry for the wait. This round seems to have kicked off just after I went to bed, then work, then to pick up our son from school and a little playground time. Pretty solid block where I couldn't check in.
I'm into what I've seen so far. Unchained was a hint and Starfinder was another hint about what was to come with rules revisions. I really like dropping iterative attacks. I did listen to Buhlman and Mona's actual play playtest with glasscannon podcast. I like skills being tied into other actions including init and combat maneuvers. The main objection for me isn't rules based or the need for a revision, it is 10 years worth of purchased books and pdfs. If I can still adapt adventures I won't grumble too much.
How bad are we doing right now?
Thoughts on strategy?
Ok that was half right. We hit L13 in Sept of 2016 after having to flee from Helkashtai and her goons, but before we fought them again in the Citadel. It was exact XP to level because Aubrey gave us the last 350.
L13 = 315,000 xp
11,200 Citadel fight vs Helkashtai & Co.
116,363 more to L14 Current Total: 328,637 xp
GG, You are a king for that casting recap. Much appreciated! Happy New Year guys! Hope it was well spent with your favorite people. Wife was shocked at how many adults here just give it a 'meh' and go to bed by 10pm. I was shocked at how many 20 something year old guys from my work didn't bother to go out or do anything. Younger Greeks will party till 7 or 8 in the morning then go for breakfast. 40 something Greeks (of our acquaintance) play cards or karaoke or whatever until 4 or so. We managed till 1:30 this year and the party was over ;)
So my guys... Last Jedi? Where are you on that? I loved it and will see it again when I have time. Solo this time because I was peppered with questions about every 20 seconds through the first round ;) But I was really glad our boy was borderline old enough to share it with in the theater. (We went during the Steelers / Patriots game so the place was half empty. Pittsburgh. Hehe.)
EDIT: Oops. I forgot Jod. Hold this action in reserve for the moment. I'm all about the new Kira. She's on fire!
Kaygan walks straight ahead while drawing his wand and fires off a bolt of energy at one of the tiefling snipers. Move to O8.
I agree with pretty much everything these guys are saying. I'll just add that I think shifters often got the short end of the stick from a player perspective because it was a race which can be customized with cool tricks and abilities- at the cost of your feats. Feats were even more precious in 3.5 and having race and class compete for the same limited resource was not an attractive option.
