Swap us over to automatic bonus progression, then give us random nifty stuff. I'm largely unenthused about +1 anything even though it's a real benefit, it just feels bland. (I will of course wear whatever the level appropriate thing is at level 6)

Setting aside the purely mechanical numeric bonuses, I like adaptive + training enchants on my bow instead of upgrading it every time I find a str boost. There's a bunch of nice things for mounted/familiar characters that I wouldn't object to. Fluff wise I'd like to keep the eastern armor types for her as long as it makes sense with her dex (so kikko for now).

Logistics - I like Haversacks for individuals and a portable hole or bag of holding for group hauling, but if we're going for the gritty feel maybe just leadership and some followers with a train of horses/oxen+wagons to get the same effect if we are dealing in large piles of things. I can't remember if RHoD has much in the way of 'you find a pile of copper under the dragon' style too big too carry treasures.

Yulai sets about the task, pausing only to give some of the interior muscle to Yuki when he props his head up, and offering a small piece to Boots if he seems interested. As the companions discover the armor she's arm deep in dismembering the beast and waves consent.

"By all means, I'm content with mine. If you're done with the wagon, and it's not salvageable, it could be a serviceable pyre. Or we could just throw the bigger chunks in the bog and put our trust in vultures to clear off the rest I suppose"

She eyes the wooden bridge a moment, dubiously.

That's my take, Yulai is indifferent to hydras but this hydra is on the road. Essentially, as a player - kill it so we don't have to avoid it in the future. As a paladin - it's dangerous animal asleep on a main road, better to protect future travelers.

Yulai visits the clerics of Abadar and prays in the attached chapel. After an hour, she emerges to speak with the priests.

"Greetings Vaultkeepers. I am, regrettably, ill informed of local religious matters, and seek instruction, and possibly an introduction. If there is a priest capable of scribing the higher arts, and writing the very breath of life to parchment, that it might be called forth in an instant, I would consider the introduction to be worth a small offering of gold or similar service in kind."

GM/ooc:
A scroll of breath of life is too expensive to buy, for now, but I'd like to at least know if there's a cleric of suitable ability here to raise the dead should we need it. Presumably this is a gather information check? If so, Yulai's diplomacy is +10

Yulai can help smooth the way on selling things by being polite, comfortable, and competent with weapons, but she's not a merchant. So someone else would have to haggle if it came to that. She'd know more about the bow than the knives.

Yulai seems amused at the thought that she would ever be trusted as a judge, and not entirely certain what else to say. Yuki, on the other hand, is noticeably proud.

"It's not my place either dear girl. These lands are the humans. One day they may fall to the orc or the goblin, but for now they are still human lands with human laws. The penalty for banditry is a short trial and a noose for the guilty if I recall correctly, but I am no authority to conduct either. We'll need the local magister."

@dm Every dm is different about LG paladin code, and it can be a drag on the party. I'm not interested in doing the fall from grace thing with this character. Lmk if I need to be more or less lawful stupid if I hit your sense of code wrong and I'll adjust, Yulai isn't supposed to know better, but Yuki does so retcons are easy enough if required.

Yulai settles Os and dismounts, sheathing her sword. Running her hands along the Ox she fingers the scarred hide barding a moment and then continues her inspection.

"You're fine you big goof. It only singed the threads. I can fix it when we get to town tonight. Oh, and it's safe Yuki, you can come out."

Yulai mounts again, then turns Os back toward the vale. Yuki pokes her head out, then ducks back into the sack.

"We could spend a long time chasing goblins in the hills, or we could go into town and find a local that probably knows right where to find them. Look around - rough to play hide and seek."

Feedback - This is a really bad way to run obscuring mist for PBF. It's really good for face to face, but we're going to have to do a lot of "wait on the GM to answer player 1's questions" with the incomplete information about where stuff is. Instead of having the player be able to post completely what they do and the rest of us react accordingly.

Right now Tal is wandering forward to find a hob - but if she wanders into the spellcaster instead, she could yell out before the next person in initiative comes up.

DM's game, DM's rules and I'm cool with it. It's going to slow the game to a crawl every time it comes up though.

Anyone have a good solution?

The goal is to not take an AoO but to get between tal and incoming danger. Judging by the previous map and the new map, that's easily within Os's 30' move action range, but feel free to edit my actions as needed to suit information I don't have to avoid stalling the pbp for it.

Yulai cries out as the flame rushes over her, as does the mighty ox Os Uushi, but this only serves to stir their determination. She leans down, clenching the saddle tightly with her knees, pushing the fire away with her shield, before smashing her kunai into the hounds open jaws. It glints with holy power for a moment as the jaws snap closed reflexively. Meanwhile, Os's head comes around, smashing his horns against the hellish beast nearby.

"Fiend, chew on the wrath of Gozreh and Erastillyn!

She winces as the rain of arrows comes in, and looks around desperately trying to see past the hounds and the smoke. In the next moment, she smooths the harness against her leg, and draws another kunai determined to finish her foe.

Digging into it, it looks like it's not calculating the shield penalty? Probably because the default weapon is the bow.

Ok, yeah if I uncheck the bow as default weapon it drops. That makes sense.

So it should be +6 with shield. Ok, that makes more sense and yeah os doesn't attack in that case but we do guide with knees and keep the shield bonus?

I did not think through this whole ox riding + familiar thing in combat.

I have no idea if I did the right checks for ride there but I think I have to make two each round - combat and guide. If someone knows the RAW for riding cold please correct me when I get stuff wrong, I haven't done mounted combat in years. The plan was to get off the ox to fire arrows at things, but that doesn't work when ambushed.

I feel like a circus already

Yulai grabs a kunai from a sheath, it's unclear where, and leans over smashing it into the head of the nearest hellhound, just above the spine. She misses the killing blow, but draws the blade back ready to strike again. Her skin seems to glow with righteous fury, and her eyes glint with devotion as she urges Os with her knees.

"Shelyn and Sarenrae take you, hound. You have no place here. Go back to Gozreh!"

Responding to his rider's command, the Ox's massive head, and more importantly the attached horn, slams into the creature. From within her saddle, a small voice is barely heard muttering to itself in celestial.

"I know it's not proper, but at least she didn't try to use the bow this time. It's a process. Yes, I'm sorry."
