25/25 HP, 20 AC, Fort +2, Dex +2, Will +5 Current Spell Effects: Prestidigitation
The flood of boggards swarmed in behind Albrekt hopping and croaking with the anticipation of the fight.
The two in front of him continued to thrust at Yorgun with their spears.
Yellow, Longspear to Yorgun, flanking: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Green, Longspear to Yorgun: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
The two with crossbows shifted their aim to Bianca, but again missed horribly due to the churning melee.
Orange, crossbow to Bianca, cover, into melee: 1d20 - 1 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 1 - 4 - 4 = -7
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Blue, crossbow to Bianca, cover, into melee: 1d20 - 1 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 1 - 4 - 4 = -8
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
The wounded boggard who had just murdered Hallack retreated to Zikomo. The one James had just punched stepped back to make room for his less injured comrades. They swarmed in on James from all sides.
Red, Morningstar to James: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Purple, Morningstar to James, flanking: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Teal, Morningstar to James, flanking: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
I left you a hole, Albrekt.

25/25 HP, 20 AC, Fort +2, Dex +2, Will +5 Current Spell Effects: Prestidigitation
The Boggard next to James raised it's morningstar and brought it down on the helpless man's head.
White, Coup de Grace to James: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 = 10
Another Boggard rushed into join in pummeling the hapless man.
Teal, attack Halak: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Morningstar: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Three more swarmed Halak
Purple, attack Halak: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Morningstar: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Pink, attack Halak: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Morningstar: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Red, sticky tongue (touch) to Halak: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 Hit = can't move away from boggard, and -2 AC
Behind them, Yorgun was still being assaulted in the gateway. The portcullis continued slowly raising into the ceiling. The boggards on the other side thrust their spears through the bars at the dwarf.
Yellow, attack Yorgun: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
longspear: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Green, attack Yorgun: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
longspear: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Two crossbow bolts sailed through the bars. Because boggards are dumb
Orange, ranged attack Yorgun, into melee, soft cover: 1d20 - 1 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 1 - 4 - 4 = -8
Crossbow: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Blue, ranged attack Yorgun, into melee, soft cover: 1d20 - 1 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (17) - 1 - 4 - 4 = 8
Crossbow: 1d8 ⇒ 3

25/25 HP, 20 AC, Fort +2, Dex +2, Will +5 Current Spell Effects: Prestidigitation
The Boggard in the watch cage pulled one of the other levers, releasing the crank that started dragging both portcullises back up into the ceiling.
The four boggards who had been on patrol surged out of the murky water and traded their crossbows for spears while they waited for the bars to finish rising.
The ones in C15 are getting out of the water and swapping weapons. They are armed with Longspears, so two of them do threaten Yorgun through the bars of the portcullis (in case that matters).
From the other side, the Boggards coming from the village swarmed James and Halik. The wounded one let out a thunderous croak.
Pink Boggard activates Terrifying Croak. DC 13 Will save or be Shaken for 1d4 rounds.
White, longspear to James, charge: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Grey, longspear to James, charge: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
The rest of the Boggards are all double-moving. The ones near Albrekt are int he water tunnels beneath his location. They are marked with little wings.
GM, I have no idea what the Boggard Shaman is capable of. You'll need to control that one.

25/25 HP, 20 AC, Fort +2, Dex +2, Will +5 Current Spell Effects: Prestidigitation
A chorus of echoing croaks heralded the tide of the boggard reinforcements. Just like they had drilled, the Boggard nearest the hidden door ran over and pulled the lever, opening the passage wide for it's brethren. They thundered awkwardly into the cavern entrance. On the other side, more made their way into the twisting tunnels near Albrekt.
The Boggards in the water continued their barrage. The two closest to the adventurers popped out of the water enough to lash out with their sticky tongues, attempting to drag the hapless humans into the water. The rest continued to fire their crossbows.
Green, sticky tongue, ranged touch attack to Marta: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Yellow, sticky tongue, ranged touch attack to James: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
Orange, crossbow to James: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Blue, crossbow to Bianca: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Red, crossbow to James: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Can any of us or our minions cast Charm Animal? Is there an ranger or druid in our ranks?
25/25 HP, 20 AC, Fort +2, Dex +2, Will +5 Current Spell Effects: Prestidigitation
Is the blessing just "pour unholy water over the seal" or is there more to it? Is it something that an undead minion or a severed hand could do? (does it require speaking?) Could Hex or Vex do it?

Haruk wrote: Thinking it over, Grumblejack would be a rather good cohort for Haruk. I think we still have a single-use token to contact Tiadora. Maybe two now. I don't remember them ever being used.
We could contact her, tell her our progress, and say that we need Grumblejack to help us guard this place while we conduct the ritual.
A teleport later and the Ogre's here.

Predictably, I'm going to be building Xanos' other hand as his Cohort. I'm starting with the Crawling Hand stats (effective level of 1). Then I'm going to layer class levels on that. I'll end up with a 5th level Cohort.
Here's what I need to know from Fanguar-
Should I use the stat array out of the bestiary, use the heroic NPC array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8), or use some method of point buy?

Ok, here's my basic expense list for the Horn's defense and renovations. This is for infrastructure.
Boggard Gear
700 gp Light Underwater Crossbow x10 (for boggards)
2000 gp Ballista x4 (for home defense)
900 gp 3 lb of Adamantine (for crafting tools)
500 gp worth of mithril (for crafting golem heart)
334 gp alchemical reagents (for golem animation)
450 gp superior lock x3 (for capture cells and holding cell)
50 gp masterwork smithing tools (for smithy)
50 gp masterwork torturer tools (for torture chamber)
total: 4984 gp
Justifications-
The underwater crossbows will allow the Boggards to stay in the water while they fight. That gives them a +8 AC vs anyone on the land, and concealment for stealth purposes.
3 lbs of Adamantine lets us make a drill, a pick, and a shovel, which combined with the lyre of building, will make our renovations very fast. When we are done we can reuse the adamantine, or sell it at cost.
The Ballistas are one of our defensive linchpins for the 1st and 2nd floor. It's the biggest single expense, but with the defenses I have in mind, they'll go a long way towards making the Horn a very tough nut to crack.
Thoughts?
25/25 HP, 20 AC, Fort +2, Dex +2, Will +5 Current Spell Effects: Prestidigitation
I've been planning this for a while. I'll put points into perform. My familiar gets my ranks, and is undead. If I can get the bonus high enough the little hand can play the lyre without stopping for as long as we need it to. If I fail a check the hand stops playing and Xanos himself starts.
Anyone else could also put a point or two into perform strings. Then when one of us fails a check they pass the lyre off to the next person.
The Horn doesn't need a ton of construction. Just some walls put up and knocked down, and some murder holes drilled. We'll be able to renovate the whole place in a matter of days and then sell the Lyre if we want to.

Take 10 on stealth for 31.
The hand didn't quite know exactly where it was going, but the vampire's directions were close enough for a start. Hunting was what the hand had been made for.
It slipped past everything else until it found the shaman.
When it found its prey it wasted no time. It crawled forward making no effort to hide until it was ten paces away. It stood up on the stump of it's wrist and beckoned with one finger.

Would a disembodied hand count as a quadraped (pentaped?) for the purposes of encumbrance?

Stealth: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
The hand skittered down the hall keeping to shadows and under furniture until it found the open door where Xanos' companions were rifling through things.
It leaped onto the bed and then to the bedpost like a spider, sitting still as though watching.

Xanos' hand immediately ran for the chapel doors.
25/25 HP, 20 AC, Fort +2, Dex +2, Will +5 Current Spell Effects: Prestidigitation
Xanos' hand holds a nail before the last door, releasing it and allowing it to worm it's way into the doorjamb. Then it touched the door. Within the partially armored glove that served as it's armor, and it's means of carrying things, a small piece of paper burned away to nothingness.
Hand delivers Arcane Lock for Xanos.
All doors to the barracks should now be shut with Arcane Lock and a Stubborn Nail. I'm not sure if you want one to increase the DC of the other, or if they would need to be bypassed separately (i'd do them separately since they are different sorts of barriers).
25/25 HP, 20 AC, Fort +2, Dex +2, Will +5 Current Spell Effects: Prestidigitation
Xanos' hand crawls to the barracks door and somehow manages to pull a nail out of a small hole in it's own palm. It holds the nail up against the seam where the door met the doorframe down at the lower corner and let go. The nail jumped forward like it had been shot from a bow and slammed itself deep into the crack.

You know you're a mook when the wizard's familiar takes you down.
Xanos' hand turns and leaps again.
Attack, flanking: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Grab: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 = 13
I'm occupying the same square as the guy I'm attacking, so I'm not in anyone's way and set up a flank from any direction.

Xanos' hand leaps at the paralyzed guard.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Grab (if attack is successful): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 = 23
Mostly this is to try for the grab, so as to apply Grappled penalties to the guard.

Crawling out from it's hiding place, Xanos' hand hops from Price's skirts, skitters across the floor and leaps up onto the chest of the dead captain.
The corpse's skin rippled and began to change until it looked nothing like it had a moment before.
Xanos Casts Sculpt Corpse through Familiar.
Then it slowly absorbed the blood.
Prestidigitation.
The entire process took no more than thirty seconds before it skittered back over to Price and waited patiently.
