Wilhem grimaces at the whirling melee, though the tide seems to be turning in their favour now. He watches as Hoosiblt and Valko both hurl items at the figure on the roof and sights along his crossbow at the same target, releasing with a sharp twang of the bow string, before he starts to crank it back for another shot. _________________________
-=-=-=-=-=- Orlie and Gralk continue their advance, the half-elf nimbly advancing to pin one of the remaining thugs between himself and Natalya, while Gralk simply cuts through the middle, fending off any errant blows with his shield. _________________________

In another game I play we do something similar. I think that he just rolls once for each group of bad guys (since each group has the same initiative modifier for each individual member), and then once for each PC. Probably not going to work as well in this game with so many PCs and often multiple different types of bad guys. Also adding them up and then comparing is just going to favour whichever side has more people in it (which is probably going to be us)

Uh what? I appreciate you botting me until I get back, but I am not Thron, I am peanuts :p No singular reason for my absence, I should have thought to let you guys know, but had too much other crap going on, and then my computer played up. Should be good now; well, once I've read about 50 posts.

Uhh, from my reading Fenster wasn't going to show us the way, just give directions, so he's still strapped to the chair to my reconning, so no chatting while we walk :p "Derro... hm." Wilhem murmurs, looking at Renfield in his periphery, but mainly focusing on Fenster. "Have you noticed any pattern to their actions. Can you at least tell us where you've seen them? Do they seem to be working out of underbridge or another district?" he prods Fenster with further questions, seeing if there is anything to be squeezed out of the man. Should he fail to answer them however, Wilhem falls silent, out of queries for the man.

Wilhem keeps his distance from the blighted captive, but listens closely to his words, managing to decipher most, if not all of them. "What about the disappearances. Do you know anything about who's behind them or where they're being taken? Any ideas on who's behind the rumors of Nidalese slave traders?" Wilhem asks, taking a half step forward as he poses his questions.
Male Human Arcanist 1
"Ugh. Don't act so pompous, just call it what it is. Assault, intimidation and theft. I doubt anyone that matters will care." Wilhem says as Valko swoops in to relieve the men of their valuables. The needless brutality has done little to improve Wilhem's demeanor after a long day consisting mostly of wandering around in the cold. "Gralk, secure the warehouse." he says as he moves forward to examine the items Renfield has collected. With a few gestures the half-orc has the twin ulfens guarding the warehouse doors, while he and Orie move to poke around the dim interior of the warehouse and adjoining rooms. _________________________

"No can do. Tha warehouse sticks right out over the water boss." Gralk observes, though as he approaches the water's edge he pauses to quint off into the darkness. "Looks like they gots some boats tied up unerneath though." he adds, looking back to Wilhem for instructions. "Hmm. Very well." he says, gesturing and sending his light out along the rear of the warehouse, finding no means of egress there, he turns back towards the others, sending the lights just inside the warehouse door to provide some illumination since Valko's man continues to hang back with his torch."Make sure they stay inside then." Gralk nods, gesturing Orie forward, the pair taking up a position in the doorway, readying his spear as he does so. Finding one of the thugs just on the other side menacing Ferit he thrusts said weapon at the filthy lackey. _________________________

Wilhem opens his mouth to continue his attempts to reason with Radyx and the odious Ferit, before deciding not to waste his time. He nods at Valko and Hoosible's support, but his silence is validated when their advice is likewise ignored and the former gladiator charges heedlessly forward. Wilhem simply sighs, before beginning a short thassilonian chant, gesturing with his right hand as he raises it into the air. Finishing the spell four bright balls of light swell into existence around his hand, adding to the light of Renfeld's torch. "Gralk, Orie. Circle the warehouse, make sure noone comes out who shouldn't. Harl, Misha, you're with me." he instructs his guards, and starts walking towards the nearest corner, leaving Gralk and Orie to brave the water side. _________________________

Wilhem sighs as Ferit and Radyx misunderstand. "I did not ask for contributions to give to Fenster, I asked for contributions to the group's expenses, one of which would be a small donation to him. Five gold should be enough for him, the rest would be kept jointly for any other bribes or costs we may encounter while working together, including any healing or other magical services, as well as mundane purchases." "If we are to work together, then we must cooperate, and you must realize that not every situation can be resolved with threats and fists. We are junior members of the Cypherlodge, we do not have the authority yet to go throwing our weight around everywhere, as I should think that this morning's incident at the Arvensoar proves." Wilhem does a fair job of keeping hold of his emotions, but his tone grows a touch waspish towards the end.
Male Human Arcanist 1
"Valko and myself have already paid bribes and costs for this mission. Perhaps we should all contribute to an expenses fund for our group. A platinum piece or 10 gold pieces each?" Wilhem suggests, looking at his companions. They were very free with suggestions of paying people off when it was someone else's money, and while there were certainly more important things than gold, it would be beyond foolish to expect to live in a city ruled by the Runelord of Greed without funds.

Wilhem gives Valko a disapproving look as he pressures the lady, who seemed to him quite forthright and helpful. He is rather surprised therefore when she takes the coin and elaborates significantly on the disappearances. "That seems like an excellent offer. Might we be able to get that in writing, or perhaps a token of some sort that we can present if the need should arise? Any information on those who have disappeared and returned would be helpful as well. I take it they've been questioned?" While he hadn't been expecting a commission when they came in, the opportunity to be paid twice was not to be passed up, and having connections within the Arvensoar would always be useful. _________________________
As to Underbridge, we're probably more likely to actually find information in these sort of areas at night (assuming we can avoid getting shanked), so while it may not be the best idea... lets go :p As long as we have enough time to find out what's behind these rumors of slavers since two sources agree they don't exist.
Male Human Arcanist 1
"Yes... Sorry to bother you so late, but we're trying to track down an associate. We've had no word of her for several days, and fear something might have happened to her. We believe she might have gotten mixed up with some of those Sczarni, the uh... Tower Girls? and then there's been those disappearances lately. Please, is there anything you can tell us? Her name is Natalya. Natalya Vancaskerkin." _________________________
Male Human Arcanist 1
"The nights come early these days. I would not like to be out in darkness more than needs be, but if the Arvensoar proves to have valid information then it may prove worthwhile." Wilhem adds his own opinion, ignoring Isroth's observations on usefulness. "Might I suggest that those who spoke up at the Arvensoar earlier remain outside. Less chance we will be associated together and sour any cooperation they might be willing to offer." _________________________

"Giorgio. The Varisian word for foreigners, or outsiders, often used as a derogatory term." Wilhem says calmly. "Natasha's not the only person to have disappeared recently. People blame it on the rumored slavers but Zograthy thinks it unlikely, and I'd agree. He claims some of the people have reappeared a time later with mental problems." "I think our most promising lead is Natalya's former associates. She was apparently a member of an all female Sczarni gang called the Tower Girls. Zograthy reports that she had a falling out with them shortly before her disappearance, and they are still looking for her to express their displeasure. I believe we may be able to take advantage of their efforts. Tracking down an entire gang should be rather simpler than trying to find a single woman."
Male Human Arcanist 1
Wilhem chuckles, amused at Zograthy's 'insult'. "We should be able to track that down ourselves. I thank you for your aid, and while it may not be the exorbitant price you asked, please consider it as compensation for your discomfort." Reaching into his pouch Wilhem withdraws one of the smaller onyx, and places it on the table. With that he turns and exits the tent, pausing only if one of the others speak up. "We should leave." he says softly to the others as he emerges from the tent, waiting until they have put some distance between themselves and the tent before relating what happened.
Male Human Arcanist 1
Hmmm, we need to get Hoosible a Papoose, so he can ride around on one of our muscly types, master blaster style. So we have a meeting with some slavers, which Zograthy believes don't actually exist (I totally should have rolled Sense Motive on that innkeeper), a link to a female sczarni gang which she's no longer a member of, and a pissed off drug dealer. So. Do we want to spend some time asking around about the Tower Girls, or just head home and relax until we need to leave to check out this supposed meeting.

50gp may not be much in the long run, but it is an enormous price for unverified information, especially for first level characters. Irrelevant now :p Wilhem allows Valko to take the lead, though he does give him a concerned glance at his line of questioning. When Radyx takes matters into his own hands he backs away from the sudden motion, knocking over his chair as he stands, and then sighs at their new predicament. Even if this did get them the information they needed, Zograthy must have some contact with the locals, which could make things... difficult for them. He certainly wouldn't have been against putting some pressure on the man but something a little more... subtle would have been his preference. "I may have only met Radyx this morning, but I assure you it's no idle threat. I suggest you give us the information you possess, and then we will leave you in peace." he says calmly, bending to pick up the chair and replace it, though he remains standing with his hands on it's back. "I would hold off on any thoughts of retaliation you might be contemplating too. I'm sure you're aware of how the current administration looks down on those who avoid evade their tax collectors.." Not that he needs it but...

Yeah that's pretty much why I asked Ferit :) They say the difference between a new/low skilled player and long term/high skilled character is more about the long term player's flexibility, but that's only true to a point even if the system works that way. Resources, contacts, experience all play their part too. The Early Enrolement (beta effectively) is meant to start in a few months, and their currently doing the land rush to secure the only 30 starting settlements in the game. Player's won't be able to create their own settlements until late in the beta or even the full release which is slated for early 2016. It's $100 to get into the EE, but considering it's going to be about 18 months before you can play otherwise it might be worth looking into. At least that's what i remember from this morning's reading, may not be entirely accurate. Regardless, good to get in early, and you need a guild to claim one of those settlements.

Yeah I noticed a couple references to EVE for a few of the systems. Haven't played it myself but a friend was pretty big into it for a while. Bit odd that XP will simply be accumulated over time independent of your actions (or even being logged on) in game, but really makes the early enrollment valuable I suppose. I got in back when they did the kickstarter (spending a ridiculous amount of money) and I still had a job :p So I'm set up for the first month or two of Early Enrollment. Planning to make a Human Cleric, possibly of Cayden Cailean (though not sure how the gods are going to be implemented), and then make an alt later on when they add some more classes.
Male Human Arcanist 1
It's been so long I'm not sure what I intended to do with Wilhem, I may have just been keen to play the new class. That being said it'll hopefully come back to me when I get some time and reread his background and whatever else I can find on his character sheet. I don't forsee changing him, I still think the class is interesting. As far as party size... what Hoosible said :p Do book one with NPC'd Rob&Cel and then shuffle them off somewhere else while we get all the phat loots. That said NPCing them puts more work on you so recruit if you feel it would be easier.

Wilhem takes the middle seat with a contented sigh, pulling off his gloves and loosening his coat to take full advantage of the tent's warmth. "You have a nice set-up here." he compliments the man, it was perhaps tacky but that was what people expected from this sort of thing. He pauses, leaning a little closer; that trembling wasn't merely from age, secrets of the multiverse indeed. He certainly was perceptive despite that though, definitely a useful trait in an information broker, if Wilhem's suspicions were correct. "Yes we didn't wish to overcrowd your tent. We are looking for information on a woman by the name of Natalya, we were told that you may be able to help us find her." he reaches into his pouch, pulling out a gold piece and setting it on the table.
Male Human Arcanist 1
"Hmm, I wouldn't advise that. It feels like we're only a few bad moves from starting a riot." Wilhem advises, looking around at the indigenous population. "A scuffle at least..." he adds in an undertone, before ducking inside and looking around, blinking to allow himself to acclimatize to the light.
