smiles at the conversation while watching.

Just so that we're clear, I wasn't addressing the Wisdom thing on the basis of "lawlz yer will save suxors!", but noting that Fighters and Rangers have very similar ability score requirements; and yet any way you slice it, Rangers are less MAD.

Not true. This is entirely concept based. Some fighter builds will require much less ability investment than some ranger builds. Blanket statements like this are easily refuted with a single example. You're a good enough gamer to be able to see that. I would actually argue that they are about the same overall.

Quote:
We've already seen that a Ranger with a 7 Intelligence has the same amount of skills as a Fighter with 14 Intelligence. Many people on the "Fighter is awesome, no problems here" side have said that if you're not putting a 14 in Intelligence, you're doing it wrong, and that means Fighters have skill points.

Never was said at all at any point in this thread. We have said that if you want skills you need to invest in ways to get them. Intelligence is one way. There are others. This is a classic strawman argument. No one has ever made this claim in this thread. Arguing against it is folly.

Quote:
Meanwhile, Fighters need a crapload of Dexterity to qualify for dual wielding or archery options, or to get the most out of their Armor Training ability early on.

Mostly true. They do need good Dexterity but they don't need a crapload. I'm not a believer that you need to have every single two-weapon fighting feat or every archery feat to be great with those concepts.

Quote:
Yet still, Fighters need Strength whether they are melee or ranged.

Certainly helps, but it doesn't need to be maxed out either.

Quote:
Further still, Fighters are just like other classes in needing Wisdom for their poor Will saves, and possibly some skills (definitely need it for Perception); and is especially true because their defenses in general are lacking, beyond simple AC.
This is one reason why I generally put a 12...

Yes but rangers have enough skill points to take craft (strawman)

I like this story even though I am not related to that orlin?

Do you count as your own GMac though?

Since you do mention terrain bond if you have a high level horizon walker getting a wand of that could be crazy. I was created with this build in mind but before ultimate combat came out.

I still would want a stat boost item by the time I could cast third level spells otherwise I am sacrificing strength, dex or con or dumping charisma even more to get my wisdom up to cast third level spells at higher levels.

I am a 15 point buy archer ranger and I did fine in a homebrew and got to second level in a pbp until the gm got busy and the game ended.I did okay in the game and I had fun.

Oh the huge manatee!

I see what you did there.

Would you wear invisible armor or would it be too hard to find in the morning?

What do you think of archers?

Has Lini ever stopped you from eating some plant you should not because it was poisonous or a laxative or some similar reason?

But you did not check for traps.

"I new a gnome wizard with a parrot once, he was a good companion and I liked adventuring with him. He also had a good sense of humor."

played a game as another player and thought it was nice. I would definitely allow it

"You know not everyone has craft alchemy to make alchemists ice but no I was never mad in the first place"

I don't think I am in the river kingdoms any more.

ZetaG- I'm afraid i'm going to have to pass as well. I'm looking to pare down my playing so i can run another game at the moment. But i wanted to thank you for a great game while it lasted. My first PbP as well : )

It was and I wish your other game luck.

Male Human Ranger 2

how long are we going to wait for the other players to get back?

Male Human Ranger 2

I am in one module that was 3.0 one ap and two homebrew games so 50/50 as a player as well. I am playing in a carrion crown game and 3 encounters in.

Male Human Ranger 2

I really want to continue this campaign.

Male Human Ranger 2

Yay I am back.

I also do not walk into poison oak like a wizard did but there was a halfing rouge that did not know better.

Male Human Ranger 2

It was my poor attempt at a joke. Trying to liven the conversation since Seamus' departure. I miss the little guy. Hope he is okay.

Mine was a joke about your joke.

No Really,
Short Term: Find a good bed for the night and try to gather information on bandit activity and anything that might be useful for taking care of the issues to the north. If I remember right, that is the path we had decided.

Medium Term: Find a way to get to where we need to be and make money at the same time.

Long Term: Defeat the bandits and save the people from a winter of hardship, famine, and death. Save the people!

Walter is from Brevoy which is to the north of here. I think I know who you meant though and it was not me.

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter after finishing lighting the lantern says "I agree a job would be really nice." Walter then with the lit lantern reads the notices.

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter seems to respond to Mathieu [b]"I cannot but a dwarf might. Walter then starts saying ah time to light the lantern to read what this is saying." Walter then puts his pack down and fumbles through to the lantern and lights it to read the notices being careful not to light the papers in the shack on fire.

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter simply responds to Mathieu " Yes that is a good idea and I am not likely to be bored."

Male Human Ranger 2

short term: find information on some bandits and defeat them.

medium term: find a masterwork composite longbow with a heavy pull.

Long term: defeat the bandits and restore free travel.

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter in a sort of relaxed manner says "What will we do with this hour before the ferry leaves and we need to make sure we are not left behind? We could always try to extract information from those on the ferry or waiting for it" WAlter seems to be a little sad he has an hour spent waiting for the ferry and says "I have always hated waiting". Walter nervously taps his foot for a minute.

Male Human Ranger 2

WAlter pauses for a second and says "of course we will need something to pull the wagon with." Walter pauses and thinks for a moment about this plan. Walter then asks a question [b]" Information on where these ambushers are likely to be will also help so we do not run a disguised shipment and never encounter the ambusehers."

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter thinks about the problem for a second then says [b]" yes I guess you are right does not seem to be much worthwile on this beat up old side of the river that is muddier than most fields.

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter in an attempt to talk to Quillin says with a serious face "Even if it is nasty the information the bandits from the wagoners we may find out more from is vital."

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter seems like he wants to make a joke seems to stop himself but lets out a small laugh.

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter says"thank you, Emet." Walter then turns to the rest of the party and says [b]
"We should probably talk to the wagoners it is better to get their information on the bandits"
. Walter then waits for a response and thinks some more and mutters to himself " Traffic is so dense here will have to worry aobut bumping into people."

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter says "Thank you QuillinYes if we get any more payment I might be able to buy an expertly crafted composite bow with a string just strong enough for me to pull back to deal even more damage. " Walter then smiles and thinks back after thinking about how nice having that new bow would be. WAlter then walks and turns around.

Male Human Ranger 2

Or his base could have blocked paizo so he does not ahve any way to contact us.

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter does have a gliave but would need a melee weapon then.

Male Human Ranger 2

I want more seamus as well.

Yay more gold still need some mroe to get what I really want as a masterwork +2 strength composite longbow.

Scarring Jack's horse while he is mounted on it will make him hit the road.

Male Human Ranger 2

I think a tavern might a use for fine wine if enough people go by it in a rich enough area.

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter streches and has some porridge for breakfast. WAlter not wanting to know he will not negotiate the best deal on the gear waits at least for some other party members to get up.

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter pauses for a second lets out an understanblde mumble and then looks around to see if there is any blood or sign or kidnapers or other bandits. . Walter after waiting a moment says [b]" I wonder if the bandits got him."

Walter then looks to see if anyone has walked around here recently to see if he wandered off or if there are obvious kidnappers draggin a body off.

search for signs of violence or force on proprietor
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
search for tracks/+1 bonus from track
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter replies "That does sound like a good idea."

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter says "I think I will go on this walk as I have good eyes would not want you two getting ambushed." Walter then waits for a few moments and asks " how long a walk?"

Male Human Ranger 2

Walter says "Going in the morning was my plan anyway." Walter then reminsces for a moment looks up at the dart board and rambles " I remember a fight a long time ago over a game of darts when the dart bounced off the dart board and one of teh players caught it. He thought he could throw it again Has anyone ever heard a similar story."
