No thoughts on our next adventure, just yet. But I should say that leveling up for me might be a bit of a challenge since I always kept my character on Hero Lab on my home PC. And the best estimate I have for getting power back is maybe 1 to 2 weeks. As it is I'm hoping we'll get running water by this Sunday. Don't know if anyone here has had the pleasure of showering with a bucket, but it's an over-rated experience, let me assure you.

But I guess, I can keep track of the stats here on my character page, and just do the actual leveling up on my lunch break at work. It's not ideal, but it should be manageable.

My stats are also up to date. I don't think I need healing though.

"Nice try," Vyk says to Crove, putting the tip of his sword under his chin. "You cooperated, for what its worth. And so we'll tell the authorities just so. We'll just go ahead and log this indiscretion as a minor lapse in judgment."

"Unless of course you'd like to press the issue?" Vyk asks in a tone that clearly announces he would like nothing better than to continue their previous fight.

Vyk nods subtly to Miko and tries to spot Crove.

Vyk dodges another tentacle strike.

"Stop hurting my friends you overgrown seafood buffet!"

HP 33/38

Vyk recoils from the tentacle attack and grimaces--but more in fury than pain and keeps up his spellstrike and riposte.

Well, I survived. I'm back at work. And at home I currently have neither water nor power, but considering everything else going on in Puerto Rico, I'm feeling lucky. My two air conditioners are probably damaged--I won't know for sure until electricity comes back, which could be a couple weeks or more. But aside from that we didn't get any flooding to our home or any major property loss. Like I said, we were very lucky.

I'll be getting back into my games slowly for the time being.

Vyk grits his teeth and summons magic to attack the creature with his scimitar.

Using Spellstrike with Arcane Mark to make two attacks. I auto-succeed on combat casting for cantrips, so I'm not going to roll for it. I'm using a +1 scimitar.

Spellstrike: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 9 - 2 = 25
Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 - 2 = 24; Guessing that confirms.
Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 4) + 10 = 17

Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Vyk is exhausted but furious as he hacks at the creature. "You're not going to hurt anyone else!"

Vyk summons the last of his magical reserves so he can summon evoke lightning one more time. Swift action Spell Recall. Spending last arcane point.

But he is too tired, and can't keep his concentration. The spell slips past him like water through his fingers.

Yeah. So the dice roller clearly hates me right now. Sorry, guys.

Vyk prepares a shocking grasp spell, taking care not to get hit.

But he is suddenly distracted by a tentacle, and he drops his spell.

My spell fails. So much for doing some damage.

Been busy prepping for Hurricane Irma which is hutting Puerto Rico today. Will likely be silent for a few days at least.

Vyk moves into position, shadowed by his four illusory duplicates.

"Man, I am not looking forward to writing the after mission report for this one. Not sure what's the Pathfinder stance on destroying buildings. But I'm betting they're not pro."

Vyk casts a spell and suddenly 5 mirror images of himself appear. And suddenly there are six tieflings in the same area. He also gets a little closer to the beast.

Vyk moves to stand next to Jeffrey.

"Let him come to us, eh?"

I'll adjust my token when I get home. Been a busy few days.

"Remind me to buy you something shiny, Miko."

I don't see the monster on the map. Unless it's that yellow cloud thing, in which case we got a lot of moving to do. Just want to confirm before I start moving my token.

"I had a glitterdust spell, but I can't cast it again," Vyk says with a growl. "I think we need to regroup. Where's our bard?"

"Anyone see anything?"

Vyk casts a spell to detect magical signatures and scan around him.

Cast Detect Magic. Not sure if I should use perception here, but I'll do it just in case.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

I'll move my token tonight when I get home.

Vyk also scans the environment.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Tuich follows on Vyk's heels.

A double move would get Tuich to the exact square Vyk is occupying, with not enough left over to step to the side. So, she's stuck just inside the doorway for now.

Which considering that the building is kind of coming down, might actually be the safest place.

Vyk continues moving, and makes it outside.

"Thanks, Tuich" Vyk says with a relieved sigh. "We are definitely not getting paid enough for this."

HP 38/38

Assuming there's time...

Vyk pulls out a potion, bites of the cork, spits it out and then downs the contents.

Potion of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Sigh. Not getting that 50 gp back. HP 28/38.

"Seriously!? Now what?!" Vyk yells. "Come on, let's get out of here!"

Vyk begins to move away.

Uh, the black tentacles did fade away, correct? If not it's going to be a very interesting round.

That reminds me, add +2 to both my weapon attacks because of Inspire Courage.

With a little boost from Miko, Vyk mutters the spell for his arcane mark, and then moves to attack. His blade was a blur of motion as he struck.

Spellstrike: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 9 - 2 + 2 - 2 = 12

Vyk growls when his blade goes high over the mage, leaving sparks as it scours the wall.

"Oh, no you don't!" he yells and attacks again.

But the nausea distracts him once again, and his attack is another miss.

The Dice Roller apparently assumes I said something about its mother.

Vyk corners Mire along with Vincent, and swings his blade.

Forgot the penalty from sickened. My total acrobatics is actually 13.

Vyk is suddenly able to wiggle himself free from the vines and escapes. He sees Jeffrey in danger, and decides to turn on the speed.

Acrobatics (to move at full speed): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

If I'm successful, I want to double move toward Myre.

Sorry for my delay. But I'ts been a brutal few days. I sort of need to be blunt. On Friday, June 9th, my father tried to kill himself. I'm the only close relative to him and so I've been dealing with that. It's been difficult to say the least.

I'm going to be getting back to my games a little slowly. But I do plan on coming back. Because frankly I need RPGs, especially now. I beg your forgiveness and ask for a little patience as I settle back in.

HP 25/38

Escape Grapple DC 21: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 2 = 16

Vyk struggles but is unable to free himself.

"I'm gonna rip your lungs out through your ears, you hear me, Myre?!"

Spellcraft DC 19: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 11 - 2 = 20

Vyk watches in horror as Jeffrey is hit with an enervation spell. "Jeffrey! Are you sure you got this?!"

"Ah, screw it."

Vyk moves back slightly and then take a running leap forward over the black tentacles.

Acrobatics (jumping): 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 - 2 = 24

Holy crap! I literally would have jumped over the black tentacles if not for sickened! Wow. I am in the last space of the black tentacles. So, uh, that's the end of my turn. I'll move my figurine when I get home. GM gets an attack on me as I land.

Okay, then, so--kill Crove? Seems like the plan now I'm thinking.

"Stand down! We're trying to FIX the problem you started, and not by your death," Vincent calls out.

"But if you want to be a jackass about it, we're not particularly opposed to the idea either, so quit it!"

Doesn't beat my CMD of 19, but that's only because you rolled so low. Holy Moly black tentacles is a badass spell to have to deal with, especially right where we are on the map.

Vyk manages to somehow avoid most of the hideous tentacles. He takes another fruitless swing, and then backs away awkwardly.

If the zombie is grappled then I should be fine. Otherwise, I just provoked an AOO. Double difficult terrain is insane.

"Okay, Tuich. We deserve it. You have our permission to say, 'I told you so'."

"One problem at a time, Tuich," Vyk says before swinging his sword at another zombie.

Scimitar vs. Purple Zombie: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 2 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 5 - 2 = 5

Man, can't even blame the sickened on that.

"After you, Tuich, I insist."

He then takes a deep breath and moves up towards the next zombie and swings his weapon.

Scimitar vs. Red Zombie: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 9 - 2 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 2 = 6

"How do you like that, eh?" But as soon as he finishes saying this, he nearly vomits from the smell--removing any cool factor he had going.

Vyk moves slowly forward, and readies his blade.

Taking a ready action to attack a zombie if one gets within striking distance. Moved only three squares up.

Vyk dashes in, drawing his blade.

"Everyone remain calm. We don't want to hurt anyone if we don't have to."

Vyk double moves to arrive at the eastern most stairs. And is there any kind of knowledge check to be made?

Fort. Save DC 15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

But the stench is so overpowering that Vyk nearly doubles over.

"Oh, I'm gonna be sick."

Crove just shrugs, "Just thought you might want to be at your best before going forward."

"Don't worry. Wiping the floor with you barely made us sweat."

Unless someone has a last second thing, I say we open the door.

"Yeah, people are dying, so I really don't see that happening. Tuich, see if you can charm that lock."

"We go in together. If this guy is willing to talk, you jump in and be helpful."

Probably best if Jeff holds onto the sword.

"We sure we want to trust this guy?"

Vyk whispers back, "He's the middenstone baron with a vathouse by the river."

Here's a refresher if anyone needs it.

"Alive? We barely left him in one piece."

"I really need some ranged spells," Vyk mutters as he stares at his bow distastefully.

When the remains are revealed to belong to one of the local guards, Vyk shakes his head. "Go to Carrion Hill. Talk to the locals. Secure some Middenstone. It should be a breeze. Pfft! Now here we are neck deep in demons and killer fungus. This entire country blows."

I think we're done with the church. Exit and head off to the next nightmare fuel zone?
