Vetis looks stunned as Osprey flies off without another word.

I had thought the bones were needed to prevent great tragedy. Not that we must rob a grave just others could not do so first.

The druid doesn't hear this of course, having already flown off, but Vtis shakes his head.

I do not like this Osprey. He is a cold man.
But it was good to spend time with you. Your skills are impressive. I only wish it was for better ends.

It is not bad Jo. The Prince of Lies' power more tickled than stung. Vetis says, though he smiles as Jo's wave of healing fully restores him.

The Kellid moves closer to some of the mountaineers and says. But if the fire has died, we should see to the walls and guards. These taer are strange beings; they may return once again.

Hold on he yells past the combat towards the waystation. We are coming to help!

Vetis approaches and moves up behind Jo, ollowing the fighter's suggestion.

Looking beyond to see men burning from the heat as they battle more taer, the druid casts a spell, trying both to give them cover to collect themselves and stop the fires.

Casting sleet storm centered on the burning portion of the waystation. Is this off the map (if these guys are round the back). It does extinguish small fires in addition to blocking sight, so hopefully it'll at least prevent more from being set of waystation people being hurt before we can reach them.

Then we are better, yes? Vetis responds as he too goes to calm the stopped dogs. And I am not mad enough to show open hands in heat of battle. Only question if running down them to the last serves a purpose. Remember on the mountaintop: confronting the remorhaz gave Taer time to regroup.

Gods! Vetis says as the fleeing Aspis are cut down. Stay man, stay! Who do you think they will waylay out here if they run? No one comes to the Dragon, do they not?

The druid turns his head away, unable to watch as Numair's bolts streak towards their targets, and approaches Charis. Do you need healing? Pick wounds can get infected.

So just to make sure I understand correctly: the four sleds are on the slopes above us, racing down to us in the pass below? If so...

These do not look like Taer. Vetis says, perhaps stating the obvious. Looking ahead at an odd...something. between the towers, he attempts to slow his sled slightly as he steers a bit towards the south, near Numair's glittering cloud.

Are you okay back there Jo? There could be some bumps ahead.

Move action to attmept to slow the sled '1 speed'

Readying action to cast Warp Wood on the first sled that comes close to twist its rails and cause it to crash/be unable to steer. DC 17 Will save from the rider (as I assume its a 'possessed object'). I also am assuming Vetis is riding along in vigorous motion, so let's see if he can concentrate (if instead this is considered 'violent motion', the DC for concentration would be 5 higher. Respect either ruling).

I can make one more if needed. Thicker fog than that. Let us hope we do not need it.

Taking what is of value from a beast is not hard. Vetis says to Jo as the pair attempt to quickly extract the scanned object from within the remorhaz. Guiding the warrior's cuts by his own examples, his tone is flat even as they pull the stone from the beast. But a creature such as this deserves better than a hurried strip and slaughter because it cared for its young.

Any further thoughts are quickly cut off by the hail of spears that rain down on the group.

More. the druid says. Looking up and around. Many more

He follows Chairs calling back towards the others. Yes. Go! If they reach the dogs, we are stuck here!

Stepping back a bit closer to the sleds, Vetis unleashes a bank of fog to provide cover for their escape.

Casting obscuring mist. 20 feet around me right now is fog.
I also don't see where the taer are on the map? Are they between us and the sleds? Or coming from the north where we might make a fighting retreat?

Vetis peers ahead, though finds himself unable to fully pierce the fog from a distance. So, this must be what it's like from the other side.

Vetis hears faint cries, but the voices are muffled by the snow above. He considers responding, but thinks better of it. I have to get out of here first; air is precious and I don't know how bad the Gorumite landed.

I am always prepared Jo. the druid says to his sledmate. He shakes his head as he speaks quietly, conserving his breath. Blood. Always a bad sign. Osprey warned the Aspis may be searching. Time may be urgent.

He smirks. Then again, haste must be tempered by safety. Else we are the bloodied ones.

Survival, also to see which is safer to ascend: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25
Handle Animal to take said safer trail: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Soooo tired.....

Vetis sees the bridge ahead and can almost feel the dog's hesitation. I do not blame them. I can see why few come here.

The Druid considers accelerating, but thinks better of it. Listening to Jo he agrees.
Chain can provide balance. Hook a rope around it and it could save us from a fall.

He looks down at the dogs before him. How about it friends? Slow and steady?

Handle Animal: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

That of course presumes we Can slowly walk with the sleds carefully across. If the dogs won't pass unless they're going to quick to stop, guess we'll have to back up and pick up speed.

Departing at first light, Vetis finds the provided dogs very agreeable. A good thing too, as the ascent does not not make breathing any easier.

These peaks have very colorful names he quietly says to his sledmate as they climb up the 'Haunches' and towards the 'Spine'. Of course it would be better if only metaphor; a true dragon on the trail would not be good for the dogs. Or us.

Who wants to ride with me (vs Numair and Zora, as I assume the reason for three sleds is that each can only hold two.)

Vetis welcomes the invitation into the warm(er) outpost and follows Rysam and the others inside. Your concern is kind Rysam. But I have been sent towards death before. It has yet to find me, and hopefully shall not tomorrow either.

He frowns as the 'guide' describes the route up the Dragon over dinner. Finishing a swig of his drink, Vetis asks. These beastmen? Are they tribes of man? Yetis? Have you been under assault here?

---

I should probably be the musher (Druid!). He'd also likely go and introduce himself to them after dinner to get them accustomed to him.

Excusing himself into the kennel for a moments, Vetis casts a spell and calls out to the dogs inside, kneeling down to their level.

{Speak with Animals} Hello. My name is Vetis. I and some of my pack will be going up high with you tomorrow. What are your names? Here: I saved you some meat from our meal.

Also overnight will prepare a second produce flame rather than entangle, in this frigid grassless environment.
