To me (I agree with The Toaster about table variance), I would treat this as such: 1.) Counts as a single Attack Throw the Alchemist's Acid Fire
2.) No As per The Toasters comments: 1.) You add point Blank Shot once because you make one attack roll. It does both Acid and Fire damage if applicable. 2.) Not sure where INT comes into play. 3.) See above example 4.) Yes because it is one flask. It specifically states that both liquids "Success means the two materials are safely mixed into one vial that is the same volume as a normal splash weapon vial"

All I can say at this point is that your interpretation of the rules are fine, as long as you let your player's know before they started playing. Which, from previous posts, it sounds like you did. You are justified to run the rules as you see fit, after all that is the great thing about gaming systems. I do not agree with your interpretation of the rules, as I know everyone I have ever played with wouldn't either but my opinion, and theirs, is not relevant for your game. I wish you the best for your game and hope you and your player's have fun!! Good gaming!!
@Murdock & Chromantic: Please follow Chromantic's advise and take this discussion to its own thread. This has nothing to do with the OP's questions anymore and is derailing the thread. @Archmic: Sorry for piggy-backing on others posts and not being more helpful. I should also ask a few question to get clarification so I can try and help you better, if you don't mind. 1.) Arhmic wrote: What do I consider legal spells for a Sorc? Any spell found on the Wizard/Sorcerer spell list in the CORE book. Is the core rule book the only book you are using in your game? Did you allow your Sorcerer to choose a bloodline from another book? Did you allow your other PC's to make characters from other Pathfinder books? 2.) Archmic wrote: A common spell is translated as any spell found in the Wizard/Sorcerer spell list in the CRB. Is this your interpretation of what a common spell is? If not, could you please cite where this is written? Now a couple things I think I can answer with examples, hopefully. http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/coreRulebook/classes/sorcerer.html#sorce rer wrote: A sorcerer's selection of spells is extremely limited. A sorcerer begins play knowing four 0-level spells and two 1st-level spells of her choice. At each new sorcerer level, she gains one or more new spells, as indicated on Table: Sorcerer Spells Known. (Unlike spells per day, the number of spells a sorcerer knows is not affected by her Charisma score; the numbers on Table: Sorcerer Spells Known are fixed.) These new spells can be common spells chosen from the sorcerer/wizard spell list, or they can be unusual spells that the sorcerer has gained some understanding of through study. My thoughts here pertains mostly to the bold text. If I were to follow your interpretation of this rule in the second bold section, then in the first bold section the Sorcerer should be allowed to select any spell from any source they wish. (Off the Sorcerer/Wizard spell list of course). http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/advancedPlayersGuide/coreClasses/sorcere r.html wrote: New spells presented in Chapter 5 are marked here with asterisks (*). Archmic wrote: "These new spells can be common spells chosen from the sorcerer/wizard spell list, or they can be unusual spells that the sorcerer has gained some understanding of through study." In the Advance Player's Guide, as quoted above, the rules specifically call out new spells added to the Sorcerer's spell list. This would indicate to me that as new source material is released the Sorcerer/Wizard spell list is updated with "common or new" spells that can be chosen. I would then take the statement above about uncommon spells as spells from source material that is not considered "core" books, such as APs, Companion Guides, 3PP if you allow it, etc... (Core source material includes: CRB, APG, ARG, ACG, UC, UM, Pathfinder Unchained, Occult Adventures, and there may be a few more.) Also, as someone else has pointed out, if you use Paizo's PRD spell list index: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/indices/spelllists.html and select just the core material and the sorcerer/wizard option this should give you a list of common spells that can be selected. Once again, this all comes down to whether or not you are just using the Core Rulebook or if you are allowing other source material.
I would agree except for the quote by Melkiador above. It states that "Class abilities that have a set, increasing rate, such as a barbarian's damage reduction, a fighter's bonus feats and weapon training, a paladin's smite evil, or a rogue's sneak attack continue to progress at the appropriate rate." A paladin's smite evil is maxed out at 7/day per the description below. "The smite evil effect remains until the target of the smite is dead or the next time the paladin rests and regains her uses of this ability. At 4th level, and at every three levels thereafter, the paladin may smite evil one additional time per day, as indicated on Table: Paladin, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level." So why specifically put that in the quote Melkiador provided if it cannot advance. It says to use the table to a max of seven times a day. The "official" rules present a contradiction. When it comes to RPG's and "official" rules, unless you are doing something like PFS, there are rules but all rules are left to the GM to interpret and decide on and ultimately just to have fun. Sorry for going off topic I know this is not what the OP was asking. :-)
Since this is in the realm of homebrew now I don't agree with Mysterious Stranger. If I were running I would allow the unarmed damage to keep climbing. Except for the first three levels of 1d6 every 4 levels thereafter the damage dice increases. 1d8 > 1d10 > 2d6 > 2d8 > 2d10... I would continue with three more levels of 2d10 > then at level 24 I would change dice to 3d6 for four levels > 3d8 > 3d10 > 4d6... etc.. The table has a set increase and to me, shows a clear progression starting at 4th level and every four levels thereafter that I can follow and enhance myself as a GM. Once again, this is all homebrew at this point and is solely the discretion of the GM.

No Just a slow posting game, sorry! As everyone gets there food you can all see clearly that the avorite of the festival is The Rusty Dragon's Salmon. You can also tell that Cracktooth's Tavern Mutton Sandiwch is the least liked by upstanding folks. A few shady characters stroll around the tent getting food though. As lunch is in process Father Abastalar Zantus begins a reading of Desna as part of the tradition. "A long time ago before the memory of man there was a great battle in the heavens between Lamashtu and Desna. Legends tell of one of Desna's avatars plummenting from the heavens during this battle. A blind orphan nursed Desna's avatar back to health and to thank the child, the goddess transformed her into an immortal butterfly. In this form the child could forever fly in the day and night, seeing all the wonders of the world." At the conclusion of the story Father Zantus motions to a cart and a pair of men pull a cover from it. The wagon releases thousands of Desna's children in the air. As the butterflies fly from the square it erupts in cheers from everyone. "Now stay close by we have a few more activities planned for the day!"

As the games start to die down a little, people start to move over to food tents as the smell of lunch wafts into all corners of the square. There are five Lunches available to try during this time. Lines are backed up at every tent and all seem to smell amazing. There is a banner thathangs over the area listing the five meals and the local tavern's that have created them. 1.Curry-Spiced Salmon & Early Winterdrop Mead - The Rusty Dragon 2.Peppercorn Venison & Autumn Ale - The White Deer 3.Spiced potates & Cider - Risa's Place 4.Muton Sandwich & Deus Ex Machina Brew - Cracktooth's Tavern 5.Lobster Chowder & Norah's Lager (Not from Norah's Tank!) - The Hagfish You may wait in any of the lines but please let me know which you try. The banner also proclaims the first meals are free of charge!

lol Sorry. We are slow. I just am trying to find some time to sit down and move things forward. As I said in the beginning, (I know it is irksome), I don't plan on abandoning this thread. It may go through multiple slow periods but I wont give up on you guys. Thanks for hanging in there.
Male Human GM / 1
Thanks guys for hanging in, has been a busy end of the month at work. The "rock wall" that the town is using for climbing has four sides and four levels of difficulty. Lars climbs the 3rd level challenge in no time flat putting most everyone else to shame. A round of applause comes from the crowd and the kids from the apple area come flying over to watch as Kortus directs them to Lars. There are still a couple challenges if anyone is interested. If not let me know, thanks!
Male Human GM / 1
Sorry guys for the delay. Hope the move is going well Liliana! I have a job interview tomorrow for a promotional position. If I get it, it will mean no more OT or weekend work. My schedule will also shift to 8-4:30 so posts will come at night only instead of all over the place. I will try and keep posting to move it along. Thanks for understanding!

Both of the half-orcs brush your hands aside and grumble as they exit the mud. In passing as they walk by Anaach and Remy the taller half-orc whispers under the deafening roar of the crowd... "Watch your backs... They move into the crowd and disappear. The ref over by Kortus looks up from the apples. "Unbelievable folks! We have a new record!! 10 apples in 20 seconds!!" The crowd cheers and the kids at this point go bat crap crazy! They run all about Kortus asking him all sorts of questions, such as "How did you do that?" "How long can you hold your breathe?" "Were the apples tasty?" It goes on and on. Lars I will get back to your wall climb soon. Sorry for the delay.
Male Human GM / 1
Kortus slams his face back and forth pulling apple after apple out of the barrel. Until the ref finals blows a whistle signalling him to stop. "Wow..." Is all the ref can say. "I will count the apples and let you know how many you got!" The ref goes to gather the apples. The kids are ecstatic! Hoots and hollers can be heard from all around! Giggles explode as Kortus finishes. Back at the Tug-O-War Anaach and Remy both grab the rope. The ref blows the whistle and the tug is on. The two half-orcs pull with all of there might. Strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
The two ruffian half-orcs are severely out matched and both go flying into the mud. The crowd erupts with cheers and howls of laughter as the two half-orcs wallow in the mud.
Male Human GM / 1
As Kortus steps up to the barrel the referee at this station tells him he can have a few practice tries. While fishing around for the apples Kortus comes up empty mouthed. Before Kortus can move off to Lars the ref says "Don't you wanna try? The record is 9 apples in 20 seconds! Think you could beat that record?" and grins at you. The kids who you have now enamored with your silly routine cheer for you to try. They gather around and wait to see what you say. If you proceed to play, roll me a DC 15 Dex check.
Male Human GM / 1
As Anaach and Remy step up to the rope two half-orcs step out of the crowd as most of the people have backed down from facing Anaach's massive size. They seem to shove there way through and seem pretty rude while doing it. The lead half-orc grunts and points to you, the glare in his eyes tells you that he means business. Both of the orcs bend down and pick up a length of rope, the mud pit in the center is nice and wet. A referee stands with the middle of the rope held over the mud. "Alright you know the rules, tug and tug and tug until someone goes into the mud!" The crowd cheers as the ref finishes. You can smell the mud although it does not smell foul. The breeze is nice and the sun is shining. Anaach after you post please give me a str check.

Father Zantus approaches the podium. "Thank you mayor and thank you, everyone for turning out for this blessed occasion. It is an honor to be here for this most magnificent event! And now without further delay I declare the Swallowtail Festival underway!" FatherZantus raises his arms as he declares this and music starts to play.

"No intro needed good sheriff!" Interrupting Sheriff Hemlock. "Everyone knows the great Cyrdak Drokkus! And for those of you who don't... well you will!" The sheriff mumbles and moves off stage. "New faces all around! Why this is great! I'd like to start by telling everyone the long journey Sandpoint has endured through these past years in rebuilding this great church..." Cyrdak goes on to detail the long process the town went through to finance and construct the new cathedral. You hear snippets of things such as... "Four days without sleep... Made an ass out of himself... I can't believe she did that!" Finally coming to an end. "That my brothers and sisters is how we financed our magnificent cathedral! Don't forget!" He starts being ushered away by the sheriff. "Stop by the Sandpoint theatre tomorrow evening for my new production, The Harpy's Curse! The lead role of Avisera the Harpy Queen will be played by non other than Magnimarian diva Allishanda!" The mayor steps up to the podium as Cyrdak is finally pushed off stage and the crowd is rolling with laughter. "I am honored to introduce Father Abstalar Zantus!"
Male Human GM / 1
After the conversation dies down slightly in the crowd a man approaches the stage and clears his throat. Although seeming in a dour mood, Sheriff Hemlock's demeanor is one of authority and the way he speaks clearly portrays his passion for being sheriff. "Thank you mayor." He looks out over the crowd. "Welcome all, I see a lot of new faces in the crowd today..." His visage becomes stern. "I will warn you to be careful around this evenings bonfire, even in the midst of prosperity and fun tragedy can strike." His voice and demeanor soften visibly. "Now let us please take a moment of silence to remember those lost to us in the time of that horrific tragedy." The crowds overall mood seems to become more solemn in the light of hat the sheriff has just said. He bows his head for a moment giving everyone time and then looks back over the crowd. "Thank you and please be safe tonight. Our next speaker Lonjiku Kaijutsu could not make it tonight because of a sudden illness." A murmur of no surprise runs through the crowd. "Now I would like to introduce..." Before he can finish he is interrupted by the next speaker... Knowledge Local DC 20 to see if you know about the tragedy.

Actually this works great. I am terribly sorry guys for the length of the first speech lol. I just started a new workout program with my wife (holy crap) today and she is on a diet restriction so I am having to come up with meal plans with her. Since I do most of the cooking I am trying to make meals out of very very limited selections of food. I promise you the game is not dead or dying I just need some time to adjust to the new schedule. I will try and post the next speech tonight or tomorrow. If not it might not be until Saturday, but I will post more then if that is the case. Once again I am sorry. I just dropped another game I was playing in so I could have more time for this so don't worry.

The discussion page is now for OOC posts. Please keep any OOC very limited in the gameplay thread. I would prefer it only use to describe battle movements and actions. Please get me your backgrounds as soon as you can. Thanks!

Music starts playing in the square and you can see people telling everyone to gather around and head towards the stage. A woman with short brown hair wearing a green top steps up to the stage podium. She smiles and clears her throat drawing a silence to the entire square. ”Hello everyone! I would like to take moment to welcome all of our visitors from out of town on this very special day! Today marks the completion of our new cathedral, and the Swallowtail Festival, the renewal of the blessing from the gods! We have such a big turn out today, it seems everyone from Sandpoint is here…” She stops and looks around the crowd spotting someone. Even our very own hard working tanner Larz Rovanky has pulled himself away from his work!” The locals in the crowd all start to laugh and Larz seems disgruntled. ”As mayor of Sandpoint I would just like to welcome everyone and hope that you all enjoy the festival! Now, I would like to introduce our very own Sheriff Belor Hemlock.” The crowd applauds, although not very enthusiastically. There is a few minutes in between each speech as one speaker steps down from the stage and the other approaches the podium. You may talk amongst yourselves until the next speech.
I have to say I am very excited to do this and have all of you along for the ride. I know sometimes RL can get in the way and that is okay. If it does please let me know and I can take control of your character for the short term. :-) I want to try and keep everyone together, I feel great things from this group lol. Also this Friday-Sunday I will have family in town I have not seen for two years. My posts if any will be severely limited. So once again I will say please have backgrounds fleshed out so I can add bonus material to the story and so forth. I will try to start the gameplay up next Monday. If you guys have any questions feel free to PM or post them here.
Towards the end of the week I will review your completed characters and make sure everything is there. If you get it done sooner, even better. It will give me more time to take from your backstory. Please review the character creation material and make sure characters match everything I am requiring. I know it is a pain but in the end it helps me and you have a smoother game. Thanks!

"No no no!" A one-legged man starts calling out to you. "Not today, the Hagfish is closed in preparations for the festival. Come back tonight after the festival if you wish. Yes, yes we will be open then!" Those of you from Sandpoint know this man to be Jargie Quinn the proprietor of The Hagfish. With his peg leg he limps over to the door, the clack of wood on wood can be heard as he approaches and he pushes you back slightly and begins to close the door. With a wink to the big man at the door he says, "Come back and try your luck with ole' Norah later!" A giant grin splits his face and he closes the door.
What I like about the mana pool is that a favored or handed down weapon can become something of legend. Either in the beginning or through the adventure I encourage people to work with me on coming up with names or being open to RPing out such an event. Think of Sting from The Hobbit. Bilbo named it because of what the spider says. You can also use the same type of RPing to do the same for your weapon.
House Rules Mana:
1. When a PC gains magic loot from an enemy (such as enchanted weapons/ armor , any item that grants an armor/shield/deflection bonus, or items that grants an upgradable plus to something [for example cloaks of resistance]) that item will stop being magical and whichever PC the players choose will draw magic into a personal pool of Mana. The value of Mana is the sale value of the item (half the purchase value most of the time). Mana is used like gold to upgrade your own items. All magic items may be drained for Mana but not all are automatically drained. 2. Mana from your pool can also be spent to heal yourself as an immediate action. This will cost 4x what a potion of that healing spell would cost. For example a potion of cure light wounds costs 50gp so as an immediate action you would spend 200 Mana/gp to use cure light wounds on yourself. 3. Mana may be spent at double the cost of the material components to use any restoration, raise dead or resurrection spell. 4. Mana may be used by arcane spell casters in place of expensive material components to cast a spell. Mana used this way will be 10% more than the material component’s cost. This option does not include any of the spells above. 5. Mana may not be transferred between PCs or NPCs. Your Mana Pool will need to be tracked on your profile. All PC Mana Pools will start at 0. Please place a mana pool area in your background Hero Relics:
We will be using a modified Hero Point system. This is to say that each PC will have a hero point pool. This pool will start at 0. Points will be given out by the GM when deemed earned. The rules for Hero Relics are as followed: 1. Hero Relics are very rare items with immense power. These Hero Relics are weapons and items lost to time and memory. Although powerful, all Hero Relics also have drawbacks. These drawbacks will manifest during use. 2. Hero points will be used in place of drawbacks if available. Hero points are the internal power true heroes have within themselves; a power to overcome even the worst situations. 3. Hero Relics cannot be made and if used by beings without the true power of heroes, the relics will turn on their possessors. This usually results in physical or mental damage, possibly even the complete destruction of said beings. 4. Hero Relics must be used with care and cannot be detected by magic. Hero relics are not known to any being on Galorian, these relics can only be unearthed/found by PCs. 5. Hero Relics will be a kind of side quest eventually. There are a limited number in the world and finding one is an enormous under taking. 6. If the group stays together after RotRL which may be a long time I will implement a campaign that will revolve around the Hero Relic system. This is an alpha test to see how players respond to it. Please put a hero point section in your background. Formatting:
Please read up on DH's Guide to Play By Post gaming I expect players to follow as much as possible to this standard so everyone knows what the other is doing. Death:
Death comes to all in one fashion or another. I do not necessarily pull punches to save a character. I play in an all-out fashion. Each adventurer understands the peril they embark on when flirting with monsters and the unknown. That being said some of the above House Rules will allow for reincarnation. There will be very few opportunities in game to come back from death. If a PC does I will work with the player because being ripped out of the nether realm is a terrifying and draining experience no matter what spell you use. Character Profiles
Backgrounds
Combat: I will be using photobucket.com as my preferred method of uploading images/maps/and the like. All maps will be battle grid and I will place PC’s/NPC’s/Monsters wherever you tell me to move them. Please see Pay attention to Ghiv’s posts and the map the GM provides. I would like a PC description of what is happening and then an OOC description during battle or OOC then battle description. This will add flavor but also allow me to deal with the technical side of things. Formatting will be most important here. Please take your time posting both in battle and RP. We have more than enough time and I would rather get good rp out of your posts to add to the game. Content beats all. I am also pretty flexible, if your PC wants to try something, go for it and I will let you know if it happens. Moving half your speed and then sliding under a table only to come out the other side avoiding an AOO to attack a NPC is fine and encouraged! I will tell you what appropriate rolls need to be made or what happens to your character as they try it because it is just not feasible. As we go through the game I encourage questions in the discussion thread and discussions of house rules and opinions on modifying them for better game flow or purpose. Please keep the game thread as RP as possible.
It was a good party. Thank you for the birthday wishes! Alright so I have made my choice and let me tell you it was a hard one. However, going threw backgrounds and IC posts, along with taking into consideration party dynamic and myriad of other issues I have narrowed the list down to five instead of four. RotRL Applicants: Final list!
Now I will put a disclaimer up right now. After reading the last topic of sexuality on the discussion page I will warn everyone that made it; just as KyleS said: This AP is/can be dark and mature. I will not run watered down versions of this game unless it was for a kids group. However, rules on the forum are straight forward and I will not allow raunchy behavior. But do not expect this to be a dungeon crawl or just combat after combat. There is a lot of story here and I will RP it as I see fit and to the best of my ability so the PC's get the most out of it. If there is some suggestive dialog it will appear in gameplay. Actual acts of sex will not be allowed though. PM each other if that is what you wish. The GM will not PM you for this or be involved in it in any way. I will be as descriptive as possible in the battles to paint the scene. If the idea of flirting with an NPC or another PC offends you or descriptive acts of violence or harsh language bothers you, that is your right but please consider if you want to be part of this AP because it will happen with NPC's and most likely at least one of our PC's. This may not be the game for you. Thank you to everyone who applied it was a very hard decision. I appreciate your hard work. Those that made it stick around while I take the next day or so to give you additional game and character info. Anyone wanting to RP out that did not make it may whenever they like. Once the gameplay thread is open the discussion page will be for OOC talk and GM/Player communication. Thanks!
Alright recruitment is officialy closed. RotRL Applicants: Martial:

This is the Final list! I will review in detail every character that has been submitted as I have only skimmed all entries. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have everyone chosen. Thank you to everyone who submitted characters, everyone did a great job. You may keep RP'ing in the discussion page until I have made the decision. Characters may also RP out after character selection if not chosen. You never know when we will need to replace or add someone. Thanks!
