Vada frowns at Ysanne, looking away from the grim task. "That'd be nice, but don't count on it," he replies, his tone dark. "This is likely jus' th' start."

Vada nods gratefully at Donatello's offer. "Thanks, lad. It'd be a real pain in me rear t' have to drag these good-for-nothin's back by meself."
Vada moves to assist Septimus in tying up the wounded elves. "Hope you bastards enjoy sleepin' in the elements," he grumbles at them, knowing they won't have an idea of what he's talking about.
Once Vallen's blessings close up the majority of his wounds, Vada moves over to reclaim the axe he threw at one of the elves, frowning at the shattered head of the weapon. "Oi, Silverclasp," he speaks to the Toragian as he returns to the group, "These things here are pretty handy, but might ya be able to make them outta somethin' that don't break the first time it hits somethin'?"
Vada stares the elf down, though while the message he wants to get across is "no quarter will be given," the elf probably reads it as "I am a stupid human who ran into an ambush and got punched in the face."
Vada pulls one of the throwing axes he'd collected earlier from his satchel, before turning and chucking it at one of the giant elves with all his might.
"Ugh!" Vada grunts as the elf thwaps him a good one, the blow leaving him hurting. He looks back towards the treeline, before deciding that discretion is the better part of valor, hightailing it away from the over-sized knife-ear.
Vada carefully steps away from the trees, and grunts in exertion as he tries to bring down one of the giant elves with his weapon.
Vada's got pretty much nothing right now (the clothes on his back, his armor, and the mace!) so I'd be down with taking 5-6 of the axes.
I honestly think the throwing axes are probably the best bet. The way he will fight, he'll end up dropping the bow somewhere and forgetting about it. Maybe getting Vallen to weaponize some trowels and turn a wheat scythe into a warscythe? Vada IS still a farmer, after all. ;)
I think we talked about it, but never decided on anything. The Heavy Mace works just fine, for now, anyway. The battleaxe we were talking about replacing it is pretty much the same thing, just with a bigger crit multiplier and slashing damage instead of bludgeoning. :3
Vada grits his teeth, moving around Rhyfelwr's increased bulk to strike out at the closest elf. "I'M GOING TO REGRET THIS!" he shouts as his weapon arcs through the air.
Vada holds his ground, looking fretfully between the enemies before him and his fellow Newspringers, weapon gripped tightly in both hands.
Damn. I have no idea what I could do that wouldn't get Vada pincushioned/teamed up on. Wish I had a sling right about now.
Vada sees one of the lightly-clothed elves take a potshot at Ysanne and growls in frustration. The farmer rushes up towards the elf, positioning himself to prevent the foe from shooting at his comrades again.
Vada keeps running. "Who cares! It won't be much o' anything when we finish with it!" he shouts.
Vada continues his pursuit.
Unless someone tells him otherwise, he's going to keep chasing the assassin, though. There were others back at the boat, right? He might not think they're pretty much undefended if he leaves.
Normally I'd agree, but you all have like 60' feet on me, and we'd be like 200+ feet down the beach before I catch up with everybody.
Vada's a simple farmer (who is now really good at getting mad at stuff) so if he hears somebody yell to keep watch over the goods, he'd probably stay put (because he's the furthest away and if everyone else is having trouble catching him, he probably won't make any difference).
Vada continues to give chase, teeth grit in exertion.
Vada takes off after the assassin and the rest of the Newspringers, his leg muscles carrying him further and faster than he can ever recall moving before. A cold look fills his eyes as he clutches his weapon.
Vada stops as he finally reaches the beach, the boat having dragged his attention away from his work on his garden. He takes in the sight of new faces and lots of new supplies with a smile on his face. However, when Vallen starts shouting, he curses loudly. "Of course I had to show up for the worst part..." he complains as he draws his weapon.
He's messing around in the fields right now. I figured he'd think of it as somebody else's problem right now, but he'll introduce himself in good time. He's still a bit sore from Melilla's last beating, too.
Day 31, Desnus 2 Vada spends the day working on his garden and training with the other men near the beach.

Vada is ready to wreck stuff, though he's not really as effective in combat as Tomag is. ;)
Day 30, Desnus 1 Feeling significantly less fatigued today, and thoroughly energized at the huge haul of boar and wolf meat, Vada takes to his normal work in the fields with vim and vigor.
Day 29, Gozran 30 Vada wakes sore, but well-rested and confident. He heads out to the fields to do his usual work, hoping they hadn't gotten too overgrown in his absence.
And Vada is all Barbarian-y.
Day 28, Gozran 29 Vada gets the stuffing beat out of him for one final day, before everything clicks into place. When he finally manages to land a good blow on Melilla, he collapses into a heap shortly after, sweating and exhausted.

It's not normal Hide armor, right? Is it some light armor I seem to have overlooked?
Day 26, Gozran 27 Vada spends the day training with Melilla and the gaurds of Newspring. By the end of the evening he is sore, bruised and exhausted, but feeling more confident than he has in years.

Actually, yeah, Vada would want some hide armor. It's certainly better than getting clawed to death. I feel that you might actually need it more than me, considering Vada is going to spend more time in town than he will be out scouting and fighting, so I don't particularly mind if you'd rather have it. It's not like we can't make more. Additionally, since Melilla is going to beat the stuffing out of Vada for at least today (27 Gozran) and tomorrow, he's probably not going to be the first one charging into the fight for awhile. :)

Ah! That explains it. In that case, Vada will have 8 skill points/level after retraining, so I think I'll drop Spellcraft and Ride. He didn't have a chance to use those, anyway, so it won't seem like he's suddenly less capable than he was, previously. :3
You know, I actually don't even know which skills Vada actually has points in. He has 10 skills listed, but only 8 skill points/level. D:
Vada looks a little worried. "Not more than most folk, I think. But sure, I get mad. I've been fit to be tied with this whole damn situation we're stuck in for weeks now, but all we can do is try to make ourselves a home here," he sighs, slumping a little. "And if I gotta get madder to make sure we got a home to come home to, then I'll spit fire out me ears." He stands to his full height and looks resolute, determination heavy on his brow. "And I think you're just the person to teach me that, miss Melilla."
Vada holds his hands up in a placating gesture, saying, "I'm not so sure I could, even assumin' I wanted to, miss!" The look on his face shows that his words are genuine. "That's why I'm askin', after all."

Vada notices Melilla speaking with her sister, and approaches the two women. "Hi," he greets them, seeming a bit at a loss for words. "I heard you were really something last night," he addresses Melilla, "taking out a bunch of those things with just a dagger is mighty impressive. Is there any chance you could teach me how to fight like that? I spent most of the time hidin' behind that half-orc fella, but he isn't always gonna be here if bad stuff happens." The Chelaxian scratches the back of his head, looking a little embarassed. Obviously, the concept of being trained by a woman of Melilla's stature seems to make Mateo a tad uncomfortable, but more for his need to be protected than any other reason.
I'd be down with that.
Day 25, Gozran 26 Impressed with what he has heard of her exploits the night previous, Vada goes to speak to Melilla. He expresses that he wishes to learn to put aside his fears and to push forward to fight for the good of the people of Newspring, and asks for her assistance. He spends the rest of the day learning to unleash his emotions, and to use them to fight harder.
Okay, I'll do just that, then. :) @Cueta: Sorry, but your little sister is AM BARBARIANESS now.
Neat. Will he be able to just start interacting with her, with the intent to retrain? Or is there something I need to do first?
With who could Vada get in contact with to retrain as a Barbarian?
Vada looks at the half-elf crossways, his brows furrowing. "Can't say I've heard of somethin' like that, but I can see what comes up next time I'm in the forest," he agrees. "In the meantime, I just want to get back to Newspring and my sleep."
