Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

She smiles back at Dawn, finding nothing abnormal with speaking of the plant as if it possessed feelings. "I don't usually do much around here, I'm still an initiate, but I've always loved plants. It's why I joined the guild, to help bring life back to the nation. That's why you're here, right? You wanted to help the guild bring back the weather?"

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

As Dawn watches the secretary tend to the potted plant, she hears a feint whisper of words.

Spoiler:
"Thank you kind lady. I do so love the sun..."

Alasyn is a perfect character.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

The ride across is uneventful for most, but you notice partway through that Dawn left your side. You only find out why she did so at the end when you're met with a very worn out looking man holding the leshy at arms length towards your group. "Please. Please take it away. I cannae stand anymore of it's pesterin'."

He dosn't stick around enough to elaborate, merely leaving back towards the bow at a speed that suggests he's actually running away from a bomb moments away from going off.

Dawn, you may feel free to talk about whatever inane facts about boating she's learned.

After that exchange you're all set to make your way to the guild. The streets are no less busy today they then they were yesterday, but you have no trouble making it through into the compound itself. Inside the building you're again met with the magically cool and fresh tasting air not present anywhere else in the town.

The same young woman sits at the desk, currently adjusting the potted morning glory so that it might get better access to the sunlight streaming in from a window. She notices your presence much more promptly this time.

"Oh! The Four-a-clock. You're a little early, please have a seat. Weathermaster Petyr will be able to meet with you in just a moment.

She gestures to the lightly cushioned benches and chairs nearby, before sitting down apparently satisfied with the pot's final arrangement.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

He's bound to have a heart attack one of these days, should've watched his cholesterol intake better.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Well if you're insistent, I'll right it up in the cutscene too.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Subtle as a brick, that Kaliban.

Everyone fine with me skipping past the ride and walk to the guild?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

When Trifoni fingers the first card, there's a strange feeling in his chest. It's one he's felt only a few times during his travels as he read the fortunes of those who would listen. There was something distinct to this, something real in a way he finds hard to describe.

The first card is flipped, revealing the Forge. An indicator of strength, not just from one, but from several sources united against a single trial

His second is flipped, revealing the Avalanche. His picture becomes more clear. A disaster was on it's way, natural or engineered, that threatens to go unchecked. A sense of dread lingers in his heart.

Then the last is turned. The Cricket, a promise that his journey may not be without a victory, a reward for his efforts in whatever was to come next.

In his chest, the feeling lingers like the embers of an old campfire as it fades away.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

There seems to be no trick to how he dealt his cards, nor any obvious sign of magical influence either. Divination has always been a more subtle art. One may either take the reading to heart or dismiss it for the parlor trick it's portrayed as.

The party notices movement on the water, the ferry is starting it's way across to load up.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

A very curious prediction indeed. This is already one of the more interesting ways I've seen a new PC introduced to the party. I'm enjoying the mysterious air to it all.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Oh, I was waiting to see if Trifoni would accept the offer, my apoligies if I was making you wait.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

How much is ammunition? Also, I realize that a lot of our gear is going to be pretty 'final' as far as purchased magical equipment goes, but will we be finding magical gear or is it going to be worth saving up money to buy stuff at all?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

You're not dling any damage to the game, don't fret. I hope your wife has a stress free recovery, take your time tending to her. I'll keep Hilde around though on hold for the meantime untill you return. Her being a quiet person in general helps me keep her consistent at least, that is if you're fine with her being in auto pilot.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

I'll let Kaliban ask his question first, and then I'll draw my cards in secret and send you the results, allowing you to narrate them in your own way. This is pretty interesting, I'm curious as a Gm to see how it plays out.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

It only takes a glance towards the river to see that your ferry has yet to arrive, and in fact still seems to be loading up on the reverse side. You'd probably have time for a reading, and there are some convinent crates nearby that could serve as a rudimentary pair of chairs and a table.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Seems like there's a slew of interesting spots to investigate then! If you'd like, I could try my hand at recreating that map in one of my programs. I've been without a project for some while.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Being situated on a major waterway at the farthest end of the border has made the citizens of this town much more open to traveling entertainers then most. The reception Trifoni receives is a welcomed one, and situated at the toll booth has left them more mindful of how heavy their pockets are.

Silver Pieces: 3d10 ⇒ (8, 7, 2) = 17

It's perhaps not an astonishing amount of coin, but it'll be enough to keep the chill away and his belly full for ankther night.

As he's counting up his payment for his performance, the Clevheln man cathces sight of a group of men, woman, and a walking plant. He's quick to notice that they have the looks of adventurers, and he'd surely wonder to himself just how long it's been since he's had fresh material to add to his own tales.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Alright, the show's yours for the moment then. I hope my set up is fine for a first introduction, I'll leave it to you to describe how he's entertaining the crowd so thoroughly.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Your group decides that it would be best to follow up on their previous obligations with the Weathersmith's Guild, and everyone makes their way through town to reach the hourly ferry service. When you get there you're met with a small crowd of onlookers who seem to be watching some sort of show of street performance taking place. It's hard to avoid even if you had no particular interest in such displays, as it's taking place between you and your destination.

With a bit of careful maneuvering from the group, they eventually make their way up to the crowd's front, where they finally bare witness to the commotion's source.

Trifoni Sforza, please introduce us to your character!

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Cold's been going around, my girlfriend is onlt juat on the mend from it herself. Sounds good though overall, looking forward to that as well as you being cold-free, I don't wish sickness upon anyone.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

I wanna picture that as a great trans-continental railroad, that bitterly crosses over a stretch if ocean. Putting those dwarves slaves and their architectural abilities to use.

What is the climate like in where our PCs will be located? I currently have his Extreme Endurance geared towards cold, but we're in a place that never get's winter...

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Debating if Superstition would be a good rage power to boost up his lower will save (Well, any save being called to roll really but generally will), or if it'd even make much sense considering the setting. It's +5 as a level 8, +7 during normal rage. With human Fav class bonuses I can get a +6 superstition ability, which would really boost his survival rate against spells and abilities.

On a non-crunch note, what is this setting's 'Common'? I've assumed so far in my heard that it would be 'Brittin', in keeping with real world analogs.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

You all set to go, D?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Could I use Insatiable to represent an increased caloric intake and the general difficulty of accomodating his natural size?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Level 9 I believed, could be wrong. No background skills, and only two traits period (IE; drawback for a third)?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

There's upsides and downsides between the to builds I have, though both actually even out damage wise. Weird that. When it comes to Level adjustment, will a template character always be behind regular? Will they "accumulate experience" at different rates, like say leveling up halfway through an adventure as opposed to at the end with the rest of the party?

I'm kinda tempted to go with the giant human route even if it's ultimately less optimized. It sounds more interesting from a flavor standpoint...

Regarding that, would the ring be something I'd have to pay out for? I'd assume that it'd have to be attuned to him alone to prevent magic item abuse, unless you're not as worried about that.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Not so much escaped convicts as wrongfully branded criminals, I'd say. I'll be playing a barbarian though so not like that matters anyhow haha.

I'm playing with a couple builds by the way, one of which is a human using the Giant template. Just to see how it shapes up.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

How will you be figuring HP? While I don't plan on being evil, what will your alignment stance be?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

I've liked the simplicity of martial builds a lot more in recent years, true.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Yeah, I get that a strength build isn't super thr best optinised choice, but damn if it wouldn't still be fun. It's why I'm going for Urban Barbarian as an archetype, as thatvallows me to rage with a dex bonus instead of strength. His dexterity won't be super low either though, as he does still need it for using his gun as a gun after all.

Might pick up invulnerable rager too for that increased DR... I'll play around with it.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Think I might take up half-orc, but ofc, there's still plenty of time. I do have a story in mind for it, and it'd tie into the fake country alluded to in that earlier gun flavor descriptor. Your changes work for me, BTW. I'll up the cost by 15% for a normal rifle by your measure, to represent it.

My overall idea is a foreign immigrant from a soviet-analog nation who's slow to speak but quick to act, with a preference to the straight forward approach. I'll work on it to make things more unique In time, but that's the Base of it.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Looks good to me! I appreciate you tagging along, and I hope to introduce him to the cast soon. Maybe within the week if things progress quickly, hahahah!

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

While she's getting herself finished up, I may as well get the ball moving again in the meanwhile.

The morning passes quickly for the group after they bid the old her it farewell, package in hand and a mission to task. Their journey will take them several weeks of travel in total provided they travel the good roads, but they must ultimately pass back through Wind's Edge. As it's stone walled buildings come into view the party is faced with one last pressing question. Do they still attend their appointment at the guild, or merely resupply and move on?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

I actually do have an older map for that country made back when I just got CC3+, which is in need of a serious update. I actually ran a short campaign there before previously. Bit embarrassing to show it honestly, but you can show this to D;

Rough look at the country

I don't mind her adding in her own personal touches to the country with her backstory, part of why I love GMing is seeing how my players they shape my world around their characters. The one key facet I'd like her to keep in mind is that the Clevheln have big respect to the dead, and are avid worshipers of Pharasma (or her equivalent I suppose). Each major city has a towering catacomb that doubles as a temple, housing the cremated ashes of the dead.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Not saying that it may not have it's uses, but at this level you might be better served elsewhere. In terms of replacement spells (and boy are there a lot), can't go wrong with stuff like shield or mage armour. You know the dirrection to take your character best though.

Interesting and simpler method, that works for me.

The more for those regions is fairly fluid as of now anyway, I have no qualms with making it more 'historically accurate' if you can really say such a thing for fictional places, hahaha. Clevheln is a coastal nation, there would be plenty of suitable ports to have been from. If you'd like you can create one, Byzantine naming for the cities if you do so.

setting information:
"Clevheln
Title: The Steadfast Kingdom
Alignment: LN
Capital: Caleptome
Rulers: King Domincus Alash
Government: Monarchy
Demonym: Clevheln
Languages: Meridian, Cleviline
Inhabitants: Human

The oldest still existing human nation, established in the late years of the Fourth Age, it is a land of deep cultural traditions that have slowly adapted to fit the changing times. It's ancestral language, Cleviline, is no longer used by the common populace and is now spoken primarily amongst the ruling and scholarly classes.
"

"Cleviline: The ancestral language of the Clevheln people, who are recognized by their ruddy complexions, curled hair, and sharp eyes. It is no longer spoken among the common populace, instead considered a tongue used by the scholarly and noble castes of their society.
"

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

I'd always associated fortune telling to the Romani myself, and it seemed fairly clear that the varisians were based on them. Still, I feel like you'd be better quailified for that area then I. Hmm... An Italian/medeteranian equivilant would probably be best found in Clevheln, though it's more Byzantine/Roman.

Technologist was probably intended towards the sci-fi, as engineering would cover normal industrial/steam era tech IMO, the stuff you'd see if you were in Alkenstar on Golorrian.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

I suppose I could give it a go, sure.

Tokarev WAHA-5495 "Russkin Blunderbasher"

Cost 5,750 gp / Weight 10 lbs.
Damage 1d6 (small), 1d8 (medium); Critical x4; Range 60 ft.; Type B and P; Special —
Misfire 1; Capacity 1
Category Two-Handed; Proficiency Exotic

Patented by the Russkin gun-manufacturer Rodef Tokarev in 1481 LEX, the WAHA rifle was an experiment to include the use of a traditional Russkin warhammer into it's design for close combat encounters. Though weaker and shorter range then most rifles, this modern improvement over those initial designs is favored among Russkin shock-troopers defending their harsh and freezing homeland.

It is considered a double weapon for the purposes of creating masterwork or magical versions of this weapon. If this firearm gains the broken condition, both the firearm component and the warhammer are considered broken. A blunderbasher uses metal cartridges as ammunition. This is an advanced firearm.

Edit: Ah, you updated your post after I started writing it up. Well, you can apply changes to it after if you'd like. It's just a reskined rifle with some properties of the Warhammer Musket.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Now that you say that, I'm already thinking about running with an Urban Barbarian, specializing in the use of a warhammer musket. Ability to gain a bonus to either strength for melee or dexterity for ranged combat when needed. Bet an alchemist could have some fun too, but barbarian is calling too me.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

An interesting seed to a campaign, for sure. I I shine in this world the most common class would generally be "gunslinger" then, rather then fighter?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Some points;

*While she does seem built as a level 3, she is listed as level 2
*We are using APB (Automatic Bonus Progression), so please make a note of its effects.
*Technomancy is an interesting spell to pick up. Not saying it's forbidden, but a curious choice nonetheless.
*For your Harrow deck and its various things we can roll D54 and determine which card is drawn each time.

I'm curious to see her backstory and such once finished! She seems pretty akin to someone Varisian from Golorian, and I do have a Varisia analog you could use known as the Belish, native inhabitants of Iostria known for their nomadic lifestyle.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

I mean... We're currently zooming toward the big enemy ship. Unless we can upgrade The ship in the span of five Minutes...

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Depends on how you wanna roll it. Either way can work honestly.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Funny, I liked playing with the idea of Shadowrun, but a "what if?" Of the awakening happening during WW1. Playing something similar would be quite fun.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Hahah, that might be a bit too silly for my Own tastes. I don't mind us starting new characters, even at that level.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Fair 'nough.

So Rando, seems that at least three of us have an interest in something akin to the A-Team; A mercenary group with a looming threat of want warrents on our heads. Game setting seems undecided so far, but I'm personally not opposed to doing Starfinder again or maybe giving a different system a spin. Of course its ultimately up to you as the one who proposed the game.

Opinions Tamrat and Thalin?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

I've always found the bloodline to be pretty neat looking, though I've never had the chance to try it out myself. It'll be interesting seeing it played out, I at this time have no issue with the use of divination spells. Some interesting choices in your character build, and clever too. I look forward to seeing how they look finished.

If anyone spotted something concern ing I didn't, you're free to mention it.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

S'all good. Have her shoot me a message later if Lazio continues to be a problem.

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

I was presuming you'd get back to us fairly quickly like that. Any word from her?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

Seems overall you are in favor of bringing someone in as an additional caster, so I'd like to ask if you could extend an invitation towards 'D' if you would, Jon?

Male Human Starving Artist 12, Freeloader 2

I feel like you pulled a pun against my name, but I can't be sure...

Glad to know we're aet to move. Before that though, to address my thinking. We're in a transitionary part of the story, in between adventuring. If we wanted to add another player for the six we'd planned now would be the most ideal- I recall Jongarret had someone that was interested before we started. What I want to know if you'd all prefer to be a party of five for the momment or not. I'm not sure how everyone else ia feeling now that we've had tike to adjust, and I don't want to do anything insensitive and come across as 'replacing' someone we've lost.

I'd appreciate everyone's thoughts on the matter.
