Of course she'd want to fly into the sun, how else is she expected to make her eventual pilgrmage to the Burning Archipelago?

Damnit Rando, forcing me to use math...

Emma knows that it is indeed a fair length away, but she has a good grasp of Ulnwhere's roads and river routes from her previous studies. Depending on conditions of the roads and horses themselves, if they traveled by land it could take them between 4-5 weeks by horseback, doubled if they had to walk. River travel offers a speed advantage of 3-4 weeks of travel, for a cost of at least 220 gold per traveler.

Really do love your lyrical accompaniments.

After the light fades, the half-elf takes a sharp intake of breath which quickly turns into a wracking cough. He turns to the side, spraying small globs of congealed blood onto his attic floor in his fit. It is only once his breathing steadies that his eyes slowly open, and regards his savior with forest-green eyes.

"You... Thank you. I owe you my life, whoever you are." With great effort, he manages to pull himself into a sitting position, and leans back against his cot. His wound was severe enough that it's not completely healed, but it is no long life-threatening as before.

One last deep intake of air as if to reassure himself that he still could, the hermit addresses those he can see. "The wolves, have they finally wandered off?"

Only Emma and Dawn are currently upstairs, as far as I can gather.

Mary is strangely silent when she hears Kaliban's criticism, harsh perhaps, but justified. Instead of choosing to respond the pirate approaches the railing and turns her gaze back to the stars high above. Luna's nightime tapestry is on full display for the party to see, not an ounce of cloud cover to be seen. Her moon though it's starting to wane, seems much closer here then anywhere else in the world. Perhaps if you had come just a few days sooner, you would've been treated to a truly magnificent full moon.

Her hypgryph Celeste approaches her master, claws clicking lightly against the wooden deck. The woman, perhaps absently, brushes her fingers through the bird's headfeathers. A smile quirks at her lips as she immerses herself, and after some time, she eventually deigns to break the silence which has encroached your transport.

"Well, I'm a pirate after all. Why very well should you trust me?"

Kaliban can't help but stare at the human. Something seemed off about her mood now, something almost sad. Not a word can be exchanged any longer in the atmosphere which follows. She woman begins to humm something to herself that's off-key yet jaunty. One of the few songs she knew perhaps. Try as you might, you can't seem to place the tune.

The night slowly passes onward, as the party makes their way to their designated hammocks. In spurts of wakefulness, the half-orc and Northener spy the pirate woman working diligently, if silently, on keeping their fevers down and dressing their wounds. By the time they finally awake completely, Mary sways slightly on her feet but meets them with a half-cocked grin. The two can't say for sure why, but they feel almost as good as new, as if the poison had been almost completely treated.

Conversation is light the following day, and at some point Emma notices that her cousin has dozed off while watching the the land pass by, perched against the railing while siting haphazardly on a stray crate. A crewman seems to have placed a blanket over her shoulders at some point, and Emma can't help the light feeling that crops up in her chest.

Hours pass, and Dawn is the first one who notices something up ahead- cloudcover. It's low, and it doesn't move as naturally as a cloud should. She's been in the company of enough druids to recognize it as the magical manipulation of weather that it was. The next thing she spots is the silhouette of a large tower stretching up above smaller buildings below, which cover both sides of the river. The tower itself seems to be placed on the the Northern bank, the one towards your right at this time.

Wind's Edge possesses no walls around the town itself, but the tower compound's walls are visible even from this far away. From what she can make out, the town is largely brick with wooden or adobe shingles. The banks of the alivari river in which the town is built is peppered with light forests as they hug the only natural source of reliable water for the trees to live off of in miles.

The crew starts getting to work with poles to redirect their path away from the Alivari's low but powerful current, and manages to get it aligned with one of the local piers. You notices a few other boats docked here and there, along with one wide boat making it's way from the Northern banks to the Southern one, likely a ferry of some sort.

Wind's edge's docks are livelier then many of you had expected, but then again this was the first stop along a major waterway. Dockhands, sailors, and fishermen alike scurry too and fro in the midst of their business. You spot soldiers stationed here and there along the docks, and one such man is approaching the Wani as shiphands busy themselves with ropelines.

The man is wearing a uniform similar to what you found in the old watchtower, but obviously in much better condition, and with a design that's been updated in various ways here and there. His helm is lifted upward to show his strong no-nonsense expression, and the way he holds his glaive gives you the impression he half expects you to start drawing your own weapons.

Before you have a chance to approach him, the captain brushes past and greets him with a disarming smile and an arm outstretched. You note that it's pointedly ignored, as the soldier instead asks for the man's permits and a ship manifest.

"Hey," You all hear from behind, and turning around you see Mary learning against a crate, with a serious expression on her face. "Kaliban... I've thought a lot more about what you said, and I think I know what to do now. The captain told me last night that he was always looking for experienced sailors with a fire in them, offering me a place to stay behind. I think I'm going to take him up on it. At least for a little while."

Tilting her head to the side, she gives them a short smile. "Sailing's just in my blood. I belong to the water, however still it might be. Sorry that I'm leaving you guys so soon after we started, but, well... That's just how life is sometimes. Cuz', it was great meeting up with you again after so long. Let's see again sooner this time, alright?"

Pushing off her perch, she places a hand on her hip and cocks it out to the side, raising her head high. "We'll see eachother again, right?"

With a tip of a hat and a wink, she turns away, and walks back onto the ship, and out of your life.

Safe travels, Mark.

Assuming he knows exactly what the captain is implying, The elf brings the ship within range of Tamrat to board proper.

I have to assume that's the plan, as I know his player should be away right now and can't actually play. Least, that was my assumption?'

Either one sounds like a plan, Garret. You wouldn't be alone with multiclassing, Rando's having a cleric dip before he focuses on his bard aspect. At least, I believe that to be the case.

@Emma Jane: Sounds like her family's sure had some history. Refugees from Asmaria, perhaps? Not many nations still practice slavery; Asmaria , Welusteval, and Imperial Osknia would be among them. Osknia likes to flavor it as "Indentured Servitude" though.

@Black Marry: It's not unreasonable that a full pirate's crew could take down a CR 4 Griffon or two in order to partake of the spoils. If you had to climb up, your crew likely lost a few people during your little raid. I'll accept it, overall. You may have heard tales of people who learned how to fly the things, which could be your inspiration.

It's shamed that we couldn't make it through it all as a complete team, but it was fun playing while we did. Guns... Guns are fun. Very fun. Vanguard was an interesting class as well, thank you for leyting me try it out. I wish I could've done mlre to create magical items for us, but I think we did well with what we've had.

If you'd ever like to shoot for another game around here, let me know! Likewise, I'll drop you two a linr if I ever get the mind to run my own campaign on here in the future. I'm not in the right place for it now, but perhaps someyime in the future.

G-CUBE RESEARCH LOG: Video feed 027

"Hm."

The elf stared at the terrarium in front of him, glasslike and opaque. it was almost completely sealed, even it's lid had a complex mechanism to it which allowed no space for air to get in. Or anything to get out, for that matter. Inside of it was a green mass, which wriggled about like a cube of jello. A small metal sphere was in the center.

"I'm detecting no acidic deterioration of the computer's casing, the bio-chemical energy transference seems to be in optimal condition as well. There appears to have been no issue with the synchronization process either. The electrical signals seem to have been tuned correctly, subject 4 has maintained it's solidity as well as it's autonomous properties."

He steps to the side, and the cube careens itself within the box to face him again. "It recognizes me. The imaging data seems to have been loaded correctly."

He waves his hand, bringing up a holographic interface that details his notes in full. Behind him is another terrarium, this one filled with white lab mice. "It's ready to undergo a full test of it's recognition and logic centers. I don't want subject 4 to start eating our new captain, after all."

A mouse was lifted from the terrarium with a simple spell, and the locks of the cube's chamber unsealed. "Positive and negative reinforcement training begin."

VIDEO END.

. . .

He leaned back in his chair, enjoying a moment to himself and away from all the non-elves of this world. A minute where he could be free of his mask, free to comfortably express himself naturally. Though, if he was honest with himself, there really was little difference between his cold outside personality and his cool inside one.

At the very least, he could scratch his nose without anyone around him to judge.

"<It's done. Ready for live testing, and just in time.>" He muttered, comfortable in his natural language most of all. On the floor nearby, subject 4, which he has nicknamed "Fluber" for the way it flubbed about, was doing it's namesake proud. Skirting around on his room's floor in search of stray particles of dirt and other debris. He didn't have to worry about it going after anything and everything within range by now.

With a humm, he flopped his head to the side as he watched it move. "<To think that ancient Gollorian mages had made ever created something so inherently dangerous without a mind to it's own at all. How foolish of them. Did they really just expect it to crawl through tunnels endlessly, without risk at all? Or perhaps they just left them underground as some cruel form of pitfall trap. Nonsense. Well,"

With a thought,a wireless connection formed with the creature's 'brain'. A simple yet steady readout of information flowed through to him. "<Technology always did pick up the slack where magic failed.>"

There was a point at which Eshenvral was actually about to make an effort to interact with Isis, as he really was fascinated by her android physiology. Though he need only hear the moans emanating from her computer before he turned on a dime without even saying a word, never again making any attempt to meet with her privately again.

Otherwise, he concerned himself mainly with giving his prosthetics much needed tune-ups as well as de-fragging and restructuring his various computers and their processes. All in the name of maintaining the peak efficiency of his cybernetic parts.

Sorry about that, Christmas madness

The Elf snorts derisively. "No, I wouldn't expect you too."

Taking a look back toward where he came, he recalls the sorry state it was all in. There was a strange feeling in his chest, yet it was one that was corrected promptly. It wouldn't do at all for him to form any sort of attachments to these dwarves. Yet maybe it wouldn't hurt to get some information, something that the captain might appreciate.

When and if his guide starts to lead him, Eshenvral decides to break the silence with a prompt. "The damage to your city seemed substantial. Were you able to perform the proper evacuation maneuvers before the attack began?"

Hey if you're gonna go out, I say go out in STYLE!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Personal Introduction:
*Ahem* Hey there! Despite what it says here, my screename is generally Doctor Malsyn. I tend to respond to Doc, Malsyn, or Mal when I'm posting online with friends. I'm usually here at home watching after my little brothers, so that gives me a bit more free time then I know what to do with. Role-playing helps me use up that time, stretches my creative muscles and helps to use up a far to overactive imagination. Plus, I love hanging out with new folks and weaving together a pretty cool story. Dosn't hurt when you also get to cut downsome imaginary bad guys too.

Regarding favored heroes, I'll be honest and say I've never really had a favorite. I've been watched and read all kinds of material. Teen Titans, Static Shock, Batman TAS/Beyond, The Authority, Green Lantern, etc. I just seem to enjoy the medium as a whole. There's just something awesome about watching people using weird abilities or clever tactics to thwart evil in all it's forms.

Which is exactly why the next natural step for me was to get into Superhero games! I want to live out those stories too, watch them unfold from my own perspective. Drama, triumph, and all. I've as such played the system for a few years now, actually starting with this board before I found the Ronin Forums. Never managed to play a game of it IRL or on a gaming service, but it's something I'd been hoping to do.

As I said, I've done PBP for a few years now. Mostly Pathfinder and M&M, but there have been some other niche games like Savage Worlds, Dragon Age, Star Wars, and other things. I've mostly been a player, but I have run a couple games in my time. Currently, I have an active M&M game on Ronin.

The last point about discord, I'm admittedly hesitant about just giving it out in the open. If you really need me too, I could link to it on here, but that's something I prefer to give via PM.

The Guides:
I've followed most if not all of this stuff for awhile, at least in spirit if not by numbers. Reading the more in depth thought process of it all was very interesting though, and I found the comments on the 'push and the hook' pretty enlightening.

Character Writeup:

Role: P: Infrantry | S: Support
Hero Type: P: Confident | S: Steady
Build: Terrifying undead Martial Artist

Ginger Hearthway had always benefited from her family's wealth and status, especially when it came to academics. Enrolled in one of Emerald City's most prestigious private schools, she proudly considered herself top brass among her age group's elite. This would normally make people inclined to see her as some self-entitled ditz who didn't have to work for anything, but that's where she'd love to prove you wrong. Namely by shoving your face in the dirt while wearing a smile that just reeked of smug.

This was because as someone with her confidence and temperment, she was a natural at several martial arts. Particularly Judo, for the feeling of control as she sends someone tumbling into the ground. It's true that she's at a disadvantage due to her size, but she makes up for it by knowing just how to use the diference to her advantage.

On top of the several tournaments she parpiciated and ranked in, she's very sporty and athletic in a way that shows. Blessed with her natural good looks and charm, she's only managed to further refine herself into the bombshell of a woman she was bound to become.

--------

Or should I saw, would have become. The powers and abilities I'm aiming her for, is that as a stormer she's essentially become an undead zombie. This also comes with the unfortunate fact that over time, she's destined to eventually become a skeleton. Classic undead immunities, and a form of immortality albeit at the cost of her humanity. Combined with her natural talent in martial arts, she's well set for an infantry role.

With her new natural terrifying nature, she could also have some dabbling in a support by cowing enemies with fear using her almost unatural aura of fright. Being the daughter of wealthy socialites, she'd also have assests and status to draw from when the team needs it.

Here she is now, while she still looks mostly pretty!

The gnome holds the necklace flat on his hand, grasping his beard in thought. "Hm... Curious. Deadly curious in fact... Such simple little things aren't they? Yet I sense great magic in them. As if they were motes of flame, shrunken down and petrified. Such powerful force held within such a tiny package. Much like... a bullet. Hmmm... Shmick, do you think you could-"

"I'd rather not blow off my arm, thank you." He speaks, backing away from his gnomish creator with purpose.

As of ti reassure him, Hicklespurn guffaws at the thought. "Bah, don't be silly! I'm reasonably certain it'd only activate upon impact. Plus, I can always just make you another one."

"...No thank you."

"Suit yourself. Zelda my dear, would you care to test a theory of mi-"

"You will not."

"Hmph. No spark of creativity at all, wherever did I go wrong?"

Esh turns around, and stsrts shooting his gun repeatedly into the door, the door's trap, the other doors, and presumably any traps around them too. He does this until his entire clip is empty.

"I hate dwarves!"

"You fiends! Think you could hide away behind a door eh?"

"They were succeeding rather well at that."

"Think again!"

"Ignoring the obvious fact you were about to leave that organic being behind in ignorance does not make your apparent rescue any more heroic."

My Myth-weavers sheet is updated, though Paizo glitched out on me earlier. I should have that fixed by tonight, but I at least got the summarized info.

Esh bristles at the mention of someone apparently having this supposed skill to do it already. Their captain had no proof but her word. "Expensive. It is in fact possible to trick the acanners with false codes, but most people's methods stop working as the white hats try to counter us. My workibg theory is however, that the ones that managed to truly succeed are the obes that don't brag about their supposed acompliaments on the infosphere."

He checks a mental readout, before turning toward his captain and the Vesk with a determined look. "I'll have plenty of time to spare while we meanader through the Drift. With your permission, I'd like to begin work on our own method."

I've always thought of Pathfinder as it's own second edition, but now I'm excited to hear it'l have an actual one!

I just hope it manages to avoid some of the bloat that Pathfinder accumulated over it's lifespan.

Eshenvral had more been paying attention to the recent feed of information he was downloading then reveling in their apparent success. There were some interesting finds on the Elven homeworld of Castrovel regarding ancient arcane dynamos and the records had finally reached this world's infonet. With what's about to happen regarding the plannets's resistance movement, it could be months until he has another opportunity.

"Difficult would be an understatement if I were to answer with it, but there's little else that's appropriate. My race has been living in relative isolated dissociation with the Pact Worlds for several centuries yet, and we still have our own hardships and trials. But we survive."

The feed cut out suddenly, leaving out half the information on a strange bronze device with a constantly spinning ruby core. Something about ancient deep elves and mechanical golems. Possible proof of a shared dwarven an elven ancestry? Curious. A mystery for another time however.

"It's dangerous For one to reveal their full name in situations like this. If any of you desire to address me by a name however, you may use 'Esh'. I do not care if you choose to or not."

He blinked as his implants disconnected him from the local networks and allowed him to fully focus on the small gathered group, as well as the odd voice through the intercom. "An artificial intelligence? It's been years since I'v had the pleasure of speaking to something I can relate too."

Esh is used to conserving his funds and eating unhealthy, he'll probably stick to poor quality thrpughout his entire career.
