As the dragon attempts to move on the kineticist, Mal lashes out and delivers a roundhouse straight to the base of its neck, striking a nerve cluster. The Brine Dragon's long forked tongue lolls out of its mouth as it drops like a stone, crashing through the tree below as it falls to the ground.

I'd be interested.

Potential PCs in level range (1 or 2 may end up in other PbP games, depending upon which groups form up first and decisions are made based upon party makeup)
lvl 6: Riptide Snaggletooth: Bloodrager 6
Nicodemus of NIMH: Investigator 5/Swashbuckler 1

lvl 7: Alnnar min Alhaya, life oracle 7
Tigh Neep, druid 5, sorcerer 1, oracle 1 (blaster/control)

lvl 8: Turathal Amonra: Mystic Theurge 1, Sorcerer 4, Cleric 3

lvl 9: Daru Apsulon: Magus 7, sorcerer 1, swashbuckler 1

I'd be interested.

My two Liberty's Edge PCs within listed levels:
lvl 6: Riptide Snaggletooth, Bloodrager 6

lvl 9: Daru Apsulon: Magus 7, Sorcerer 1, Swashbuckler 1

I'm happy to run either, depending upon party need. (I won't play Daru down--she's too strong for that. But I'd play Riptide up if it makes sense for in terms of party makeup...)

Sorry for causing any problems; when I logged in over here, I saw Cartmanbeck's check-in and assumed you had a full table. And that's fine. No worries. Just letting you know I'm not blowing you off, in case I ever sign up for one of your tables in the future.

Have a great time, everyone.

Hey DevilDoc:

Yes, let's keep it for my -15

PC Name: one of the Iconics
PFS#: 100685-16
Faction: Dark Archive
Day Job: perhaps (if playing Lem)
Notes: will play level 4 or lvl 7 version, depending upon party makeup, though it does look like we're going low...

Xavier: you still have some leveling to do... :^)

1. Player Name: Uktar

2. Are you new to PBP, Organized Play, or both? Experienced player & GM, in RL, VTT and PbP. (I'm assuming the other four seats are open for signup as well, not just the 2 for newbies...)

3. What excites you most about playing in this game? Problem solving, Roleplaying and most importantly, having fun.

4. Tell me a little about yourself! What other games have you played? What are your hobbies?
First played AD&D in '78. Played one session of 2nd Ed, one campaign 3.5, tons of other rpgs (mostly from '80s). Favs: Boot Hill, CHILL, Paranoia, Space Ace. Had a fav character in Earthdawn. I enjoy biking and hiking on occasion. Avid reader

5. Are you able to post 2 times a day? We are allowed to post more than that, I hope...

6. Are you submitting individually or as a pair? If as a pair, who are you paired with?
Strictly speaking, individually. (And I'll do my best to keep my other personalities under control...)

7. I like to keep a game moving. Do you give permission for the party to 'bot' your character as needed in combat or another situation?
As long as you insert girder for bending, 'bot away.

8. Do you promise to tell me about upcoming vacations, busy times at work, conventions or other absences so we can bot you?
can do

Encara is currently in a pbp that I expect to be done long before October and make her level 2. If not I have several other characters available. I have played Murder's Mark before but not at level 2 and was several years ago and I barely remember anything. If that's at all an issue I'm happy to step aside.

That's fine, Encara. Thanks for letting me know. Just let the others take the lead and stay true to your character and we're golden. Any other players have already played or GMed this scenario, please let us know. Sticking to first-come, first-served for signup. It is an evergreen, after all.

interested...but link doesn't work

Just signing up here in this thread is all you need to do.

But here's a link that actually works if you want to check out
Play-by-Post Game Day VI announcement,
PbP Gameday VI.

For out of game player discussion...

For dotting...and feel free to introduce your character if they are ready (don't fret. Plenty of time for this later, just setting it up.)

An urban mystery adventure for 1st-level characters. (Tier 1-2)

Murder’s Mark is an adventure of mystery, illusion, and mob justice for 1st-level characters, written for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and compatible with the 3.5 edition of the world’s oldest RPG. This volume also contains a gazetteer of the traveling Umbra Carnival and a brand-new monster pulled from history and mythology, all of which can easily be adapted for use in any campaign setting.

Written by Jim Groves

This is a recruitment thread for the Pathfinder Module: Murder's Mark for the PFS PbP Gameday VI. The game will run from October 6th to November 17th. Tier 1-2.
N.B.You'll receive 3XP & 4 Prestige upon successful completion (half that for Slow Progression...)
I will expect at least one post a day for each participant. I reserve the right to put you in delay to keep things moving.

To sign up, please post the following information:
Player Name (or alias):
Character Name:
PFS#:
Dayob if applicable:
Email address: You're welcome to pm it to me (or put it in a spoiler).
Specialty: Anything special I should know, a boon, a game mechanic that you use, etc.

I will also need you to have all your character details entered in your profile or provide a link to your character sheet (you can signup now, then provide character sheet/details no later than Oct 1).

Go to PbP Gameday VI.

As always: Explore, Report, Cooperate!

I'll be playing lvl 7 pregen, and am happy to choose by need.

From the looks of party makeup, perhaps Lem or Kyra, but I'll run whatever.

I'm even willing to run Harsk, if the group wants a handicap...i.e. playing in "Harsk Mode" :^)

Session reported, chronicles sent. If your chronicle doesn't show up in your email, PM me.

GM Query: If Zephyr wildshapes into an Air Elemental, can he communicate with party? He doesn't have Auran as a language, if that's a factor. He has Natural Spell, so casting isn't an issue, but being able to speak with the party might prove useful at times...or not, depending upon what he has to say.

This is a fun scenario, and thanks to all of you for keeping up the pace. Specials are chockful of encounters, and I was leery about how many we could get through in a PbP. Y'all did more than your fair share in achieving the highest level of success possible (i.e. Unrivaled Accomplishment). To manage that at the lowest tier is impressive. Well done.
Chronicles will be in emailed shortly. Let me know if there's any problems.

Scarab Sages: you can choose either Explore Ancient Site or Slain Elemental (CR 1)

Dark Archive: Isme, could make a Craft Alchemy check to ID those potions of CLW (which I should've made you do, but we were time crunched, so I skipped it). Zav, I'm not seeing it for you, but let me know if you've got any ideas.

Sovereign Court: Lorian: Could forgo Downtime to try Kn-Local or Kn-Nobility check, DC: 17

Close enough (by RAW, i'd say the one you're fulfilling on that list would really be recovering an important object, i.e. helping take back the Vault.) And, of course, adventured in a couple of nations other than Absalom (even though they were technically not in a different geographic location than Absalom, they were nations other than Absalom), so you can check one of those boxes as well, Etna.

Last but not least, I'm assuming everyone is going normal progression--i.e. nobody's Slow tracking.

Also, any faction journal card task completions? Give me the name/make your roll if it's that kind of a task.

Barl want to make your Craft Alchemy Dayjob check?

I'd happily fill in if you're short of players for FIRES. I have a few characters in the right range (and I've already played Return to Sky, so looking to play Fires of Karamoss only...it's one of the few season 6 I haven't played.)

I had a lot of fun, good group, and I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves. But RL is going to keep me hopping too much to run another game for a while. Playing a few, but that's easypeasy.

It's just a single sheet, like a chronicle, with a boon on it (they give out physical printed ones at gaming conventions that have prize support). The boons can range from not particularly useful to pretty cool, usually in between the two, and closer to interesting but situationally useful. But can be cool, and the best part is you can apply it to the best suited character, so usually can find a use for it, regardless of relative power. So to be clear, you should not be restricted to using it on these characters, Ajaline, Barl. And congrats on the rolls!

P.S. Usually, a nat 20 lets you pick which boon you want of the ones available, but for PbP Game Day V, they decided random only (and didn't let the GMs know what they are, other than that little bit of text)

Looks like GM is supposed to roll as well, so here goes...
GM Boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 17
soo close.

Ajaline, when I get all the info and report, I'll give HQ your email and they'll email you your boon. Don't know the details, but I can give you the title, and the hint that was shared by our Overseer. You have won:
"Player Boon #4: Genie Grudge I hear you’re going to the elemental planes soon…"
Sounds like it might be useful for Season 8 scenarios, but that's just a guess on my part.

Looking for a 20 or a 16 on the Boon roll (don't ask me...). If you get a 16 or 20 on the boon roll, then roll a 1d6. Ajaline roll a d6.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
Lorian, you wake up on a cot in the barracks for new recruits at the Grand Lodge in Absolom. Your face is heavily bandaged, but all should be healed within a few days. You notice a neat pile of your share of the loot from your adventures nearby. And you're definitely wondering if anyone saw the Acidic Oliphant of Doom that ran over your face...

I'll take The Storm.

I'm repeating the info here, but make these rolls over in gameplay thread. Any rolls made here will be ignored.
Dayjob Rolls if you have them. (Isme, I already have yours.)
Boon Rolls from everyone as well: just make a d20 roll
Etna: I do not appear to have your details. PM me with player name, character PFS number, and email address where I can send the chronicle.

A shame you didn't get to finish off the simulcrum--you were one solid shot from finishing her. (I thought we had until tomorrow, alas.) But well done, everyone. Handled a wide range of situations with aplomb.
Dayjob Rolls if you have them. (Isme, I already have yours.)

Ajaline's Acid Splash lands harmlessly in the pool, sizzling as it hits the water.

Isme lands a solid blow and Lorian moves around to flank position, triggering an opportunistic attack by the simulcrum.

staff attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
blunt dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
acid damage: 4d4 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 2) = 6

crit confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
blunt dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
acid damage: 4d4 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 1) = 6

Unfortunately, she catches Lorian right upside the head, striking his temple with a solid Thok!. To make matters worse, the weapon seems to unleash a green corrosive all over Lorian's face, causing it to bubble and sizzle. He shrieks horribly then drops like a stone, Zavubak dodging aside as Lorian drops unconscious to the floor at Zav's feet.

At least the crit was against the one party member it wouldn't kill outright. Please make a DC:15 stabilization check, Lorian. the attack came as you were trying to leave Zav's square.

Barl, you're up. And she almost certainly doesn't have combat reflexes...

Clearly the shifting mirror images, with Etna occasionally dancing among them has baffled Zavubak.
Ummm, wow, Zav. Expecting some crits from you real soon...

image check: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Luckily, Etna's first attack pops the final mirror image, leaving only the actual green-glowing Lady Arodeth simulcrum. He promptly sticks his rapier into her side, doing more damage.

Lorian, Ajaline, Isme, Barl, let 'er rip. (Just a friendly reminder that Zav's already taken some decent damage...)

Barl, suspecting the Lady Arodeth does not have combat reflexes, moves between the giant Tesla coils, readying to bring down the hammer. The lack of an attack of opportunity confirms his suspicions.

Zavubak lashes out with a couple of claws.
which image?: 1d3 ⇒ 3
He pops an image, leaving only 2 of her remaining--and one of them is the real one.
Unfortunately, a natural 1 is always a miss

She begins casting defensively.

Spellcraft DC 16:
she’s casting Corrosive Touch

concentration: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Then lashes out with her staff at 1:Barl,2:Etna,3:Lorian,4:Zavubak: 1d4 ⇒ 3 Lorian
staff attack: 1d20 + 6 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 2 - 4 = 12
blunt dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Realizing her first attack was penalized by the pestering Mouser Etna being in her square, she takes a 5' step and attacks Isme.
Etna, take your AoO
staff attack: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 - 2 = 9
blunt dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Party is up. Order is Lorian, Zavubak, Ajaline, Etna, Isme, Barl, Don't forget to include your AoO as well, Etna.

Lorian steps up and takes a poke, and one of her images disappear. I'm assuming you're maintaining inspire courage, given your attack and damage mod, but stating it to remind party

Ignorance being bliss, she indeed takes an AoO v. Etna.
staff attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
blunt dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Etna deftly dances into her space, then takes an attack with flank.

mirror image check: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Another image disappears, leaving 3 of her occuplying the same space as Etna (though only one Etna.)

Everyone gets flank bonus from Etna's position, and Inspire Courage in effect. Zavubak, Barl, you're up.

Barl sends a bolt whizzing over her head, distracting her enough to allow Etna's backstab to land home. The Lady Arodeth seems quite put out, like a very disappointed schoolmarm.

First, she Swiftly focuses on her staff, and it begins to glow faintly. Then She turns her attention to Etna:1, Zabuvak:2: 1d2 ⇒ 2

She attempts to cast defensively, then attacks. That's right: she's one them there Maguses...casting magic and meleeing all willynilly.
concentration: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Suddenly, there are
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 copies of her, occupying the same square.

Spellcraft DC: 17:
Mirror Image

staff attack v Zav: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 6 - 2 = 17
blunt dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

All 5 of her then take a 5'step back.

Whole party is up. Lorian, Zavubak, Ajaline, Etna, Isme, Barl is the order if retrofix needs to be applied. I'll take care of the roll of which image is attacked, since it'll be a moving target depending on order of folks attacking her.

Zavubak slashes the Lady Arodeth, opening a harsh wound.

Isme does a fine job of distracting her in regard to Zavubak.
Ajaline continues to demonstrate his ineptitude with a shortbow.

Sounds good on the wand, Lorian. Etna, Barl let 'er rip.

Ajaline heals up with one of the potions, Isme gives the other to Savubak (healing 7), the Lorian steps in and casts 2 Cure Light Wounds on Zavubak, bringing him back to full HP.

With 3 votes for simulcra, we're going simulcra...there may be a chance to vote again later, but for now, simulcra

A green-glowing Lady Arodeth steps out of the cracking lightning. She has murder in her eyes...there will be no reasoning with this simulcrum.

Lorian begins cajoling his party. Inspire Courage +1.

Party is up. Order is: Lorian (already gone), Zavubak, Ajaline, Etna, Isme, Barl retrofix applied as necessary. Those with crossbows or slings, etc, have already loaded them if that's the weapon you wanted to have in hand.

GM stuff:
x: 1d20 + 1d20 + 1d20 ⇒ (5) + (2) + (11) = 18

Ajaline heals up with one of the potions, Isme gives the other to Savubak (healing 7), the Lorian steps in and casts 2 Cure Light Wounds on Zavubak, bringing him back to full HP.

Lorian init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

with 3 votes for simulcra, we're going simulcra...there may be a chance to vote again later, but for now, simulcra

We'll give Lorian until this evening, then I'll bot him. Hopefully he'll have dodged Matthew and will be somewhere with power and internet, but we only have until Oct 12 before this wraps up. To be clear, Etna you're voting simulcra over real?

Lorian, Ajaline, Etna Where do you want to go, and do you have healing to share (or use pots, or both)? Even with potions, Zav could probably use one more cure light

Ajaline rips the blade away from your foe, and Etna skewers him, putting him down. You are victorious.

As you turn to heal your fallen comrade and yourselves, you notice the 2 Kreighton Shaines shimmer a bit and merge into the one bloodied form on the floor. He stirs and sits up. "Hmmm, that certainly was...interesting." He finally seems to notice you.

“Good show, Pathfinders,” the injured form of Kreighton Shaine manages between blood-soaked coughs. “But Lady Arodeth is a true savant and driven to fanatical extremes. The same energies that infected her casters above have also seized her soul, and I fear she has already killed several of your fellow chroniclers. Or will have killed them. Blast, but this is confusing.” Shaine props himself up to continue speaking. “However noble her goals may have been, if Lady Arodeth forces us to remain in this time, we will all die. If the Sky Key is still functional, you must reactivate it before the Starstone arrives.”
The machines in this chamber begin to spark and smoke, and female bodies take shape from the green miasma. Shaine continues, “She has learned to create temporal copies of herself, much as I did, or have done, or will do? You know, the me that was with you. Like that. She'll be able to produce an army, if left unchecked. Some teams will need to hold the line here, in this chamber, so that anyone confronting the true Lady Arodeth in the room beyond isn’t overwhelmed by these simulacra. You know your team’s capabilities better than I, but I promise you Lady Arodeth will be not yield easily. Indeed, if you choose to confront the actual Lady Arodeth, rather than fighting the simulacra, I must warn you direct combat would almost surely be fatal.” He seems to have puttered to an end of his chatter, but then suddenly realizes more clarity might help. "And by fatal, I mean for you. To be blunt, I do not believe you could possibly defeat her in direct combat. Perhaps you could reason with her, but you won't defeat the real Lady Arodeth. If you feel the need to test your mettle in combat with the Lady Arodeth I strongly urge you to hold the line with these simulacra..." He gestures toward the emerging green glowing replicants of the Lady Arodeth.
With that, the chorus of murky green figures announce, “I would have brought destiny back to this world.”

You finished all your healing before Shaine began speaking. You have a round to then either rush through the door labelled "DANGER" to face the real Lady Arodeth, or to do anything to prep yourselves for the simulacra. Zavubak, your Bull's Strength is definitely still in effect (probably for another 7 minutes or so). Barl, unless the healing happens very quickly, your Enlarge may be over, you'll have 5 rounds of enlarge minus each round of healing (i.e. if multiple sources hit Zav at once, that's a round, if it's spamming a single wand for however many rounds, etc.) EVERYONE roll initiative, regardless of the group's choice to fight simmulacra or go chat with the real Lady

for those of you who couldn't help with the healing, this is what you find on your fallen foes: potion of cure light wounds, alchemist’s fire, holy water, oil (2), healer’s kit (2 uses remaining); breastplate, heavy wooden shield, cold iron dagger, heavy crossbow with 20 bolts, longsword, bedroll, tindertwigs (2), whetstone, wooden holy symbol, 3 gp
potion of cure light wounds, acid (2), smokestick, tanglefoot bag; Other Gear mwk studded leather, daggers (5), short sword, thieves’ tools, 25 gp
Yes, you can use the potions to heal. But looting and then drinking the potions will pretty much end Barl's Enlarge (still plenty of time on Bull's Strength).

Bot time
Lorian pokes the warrior with his rapier.

rapier att: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
crit confirm att: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

The critical is not confirmed but Lorian's rapier strikes home.

THe warrior, still leery about the hazards of attacking the halfling, slashes at Lorian.

long sword att: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
slashing damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Party goes. Order is Zav, Barl, Ajaline, Lorian, Etna, Isme but we can retrofix as necessary.

While the rest of the group still can't seem to get a bead on your heavily armored foe, Isme manages to splash fire upon him.

reflex save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
he takes 4 fire damage--PBS and Inspire do not apply to splash damage, only direct damage

Lorian is up.

Entire group can act. Order is Zav, Barl, Ajaline, Lorian, Etna (already gone), Isme but we can retrofix as necessary.

The party lashes out in futility, your foe's armor, shield and dextrous moves too much to overcome. i.e. ac is better than 18
Ajaline's vine grasps the warrior's sword, only to be ripped to shreds.

He backs himself into the corner of the alcove next to Lorian and attacks.
long sword att v Lorian: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
slashing damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Sorry about the lag. I'm traveling on biz, and the hotel's wifi wasn't working.

No worries; just explaining the situation, and it's a valuable lesson for an alchemist to learn (Crazy Hairy had to learn it as well--even with Precise Bombs, a miss means damage to friendlies as well). You could've targeted the square behind him, knowing that Zav is out of the splash effect. Or you could make that a crossbow shot (and a miss...). OOPS. I should've checked the map. Indeed Isme, the big Tesla coils were blocking your shot, so move and draw crossbow it is.

The warrior takes a 5' step and attacks Lorian, having just witnessed the fatal mistake his friend made in trying to attack Etna. He may be determined to fight to the death, but he's not in a rush to get there...

long sword att: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Party goes.

Isme's bomb sails through the air, and it looks to be a close thing...but he's just close enough that Isme's bomb strikes home, doing severe damage. Unfortunately, some of that fire splashes onto Zavubak.

Actually, Point Blank Shot applies, as well as Throw Anything, Isme, so you actually have a +2 on that shot so you hit.. So that'd do 11 fire damage to the fighter. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that you have precise bombs, nor have you taken Targeted Bomb Admixture, which means Zavubak would be subject to splash damage. Zavubak, you have the right to say no to her ploy, since it's success would mean damage to you that could lead to you bleeding out and dying, i.e. PvP rules apply. So it's your call Zavubak: does her bomb hit the bad guy and you make Reflex save, DC:14 for either 4 or 2 damage, or did she have to take a different action?

Ajaline and Lorian have little luck in damaging your foes, but little ol' Etna first gives the rogue a nice poke for his foolish mistake of daring to attack her and retreating. Then she presses the advantage gained by the distractions of both her agile maneuvering and her friends' failed attacks, slipping in and skewering the rogue through the heart. He drops to the floor, his lifeblood quickly spilling at Etna's feet.

That's potentially 2 panache points, Etna (crit and kill), if you need them. Isme, you're up. The red warrior is not in melee combat at the moment, so no need for precise shot.

The rogue attacks
1:Etna, 2: Lorian: 1d2 ⇒ 1

short sword att?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

He misses, and Etna deftly steps into his square. He let's out a startled cry and takes a 5' step away...which provokes an attack of opportunity from Etna. In the meantime, the Shaine that's been traveling with you makes a double move toward his other self.

After Etna makes her AoO, we're back at the top of the order. Ajaline, Lorian, dead elemental, Etna & Isme are up, in that order if retrofixes need to be applied. Let 'er rip.

Barl can indeed strike with a soft cover penalty from where he is (and he moved 20' to get there, I believe, but he can certainly take a whack at the rogue from there)

Isme flings a vicious bomb at the Lightning elemental, engulfing it in flame. It unleashes an otherworldly shriek, then falls to the bottom of the pool.
reflex save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
falling dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
When it strikes the shallow waters it sizzles then pops, and a static charged wave washes over you as it diappears.

Etna moves over to the dastardly backstabber and slips in an annoying poke, doing some damage.

The warrior in the breastplate drops his crossbow, pulls out his longsword and strikes out at Zavubak.
longsword hits Zav?: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 2 = 21
slashing damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Zavubak slumps to the ground, unconscious.

Zavubak, Barl are up.
Unfortunately Zav, the warrior in the breastplate goes before you. Given your saves, I'm assuming you have Sacred Tattoo to go with your Fate's Favored, and therefore don't have Orc Ferocity, so you're at -5 and unconscious. I'll of course, let you keep that first attack roll for your stabilize check, so on your turn you stabilize.
Barl let 'er rip.

the elemental lashes out at Etna then takes a 5' step back into mid-air over to the other side of the pool, out of Etna's reach.
slam Etna?: 1d20 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 3 = 22
bludgeoning damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
electrical damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Etna, Isme, you're up.
