GM Uktar |

The Pathfinder Paragons HASTILY close in on their prey. Mal and Jeras corner the mage. As they near, an overwhelming soporific stench washes over them. Jeras inhales the sickly sweet smell and feels a bit lightheaded, but his elvish blood is well adapted to magical soporific effects, and he shrugs off the overwhelming urge to sleep. Mals indomitable will is enough for him to resist the effect. Unfortunately, Jeras has difficulty landing his blow against the invisible enemy, as does Flora. Mal sees the mage defensively casting a spell, then he reaches out and touches Jeras, who feels as if his very life is being assaulted. The good news is that the mage is now visible, the bad news: Jeras needs to make a fortitude save versus a death effect.

Though the indomitable Jeras resists the worst of Hok Fong's spell, he does feel the icy grip of death in his limbs for a brief moment. Hok Fong raises his little halfling arms in triumph, drawing first blood in the match. The crowd is clearly a bit confused in seeing a halfling instead of an obese Tien man, though they still maintain their friendly outlook toward both teams.
Mal unleashes a flurry of blows that all strike home. Desperation creeps into the mage's eyes. Jeras lashes out, and 2 of his blows manage to strike the shifting, blinking mage, including a critical strike that finishes off the mage. The unconscious bloatmage floats down into the mud, and you see the water roil as a swarm of leeches engulf him. Quickly, the Emissary's men move in, levitating the unconscious man out of the water and a handful of monks leap across the rocks, moving in to start removing the remaining leeches from the unconscious mage.
The Emissary audibly sighs as he gets back up, having barely had time to sit down. "Your winners? The Pathfinder Paragons." He tosses down a piece of jewelry as your prize.

The crowd seems rather less than impressed with yet another barrage of blows from the dwarven monk, and the precision of Jeras' strike is lost on the crowd, who don't even seem to notice the knife slip in. But as the bloatmage collapses and sinks into the mud, the crowd does rise to its feet and cheer the Pathfinders for another victory.
Mal pushed to down to indifferent. Crit check left it there. Final check pushed it back to friendly. which is a wash. Still, with your accumulated victory points, crowd will start as friendly next public battle.
As monks take away the trappings of the previous round and spellcasters get to work setting the fight stage for the next match, the Emissary rises and speaks loudly to the crowd. "Today, we have a special challenge for all remaining contestants: the slaying of the brine dragon Huyanwo, who has ravaged the region of the island known as the Ridge of Graves for generations. This is not a required exercise, but there is both renown and reward for any who slay the beast."
Several of the remaining contestants look at one another to see if anyone else is taking the Emissary up on his challenge, but none react visibly in favor or against such a decision.

"As you know, the Brine Dragon is not truly of this world, but a creature of the Plane of Water. There is an epic poem by the shaman known as Crystal Blossom who relates the travel of the first Brine Dragon to Golarion, and the many experiences it had along the way. The poem is in a very unusual meter, though I have heard it actually flows quite well in Minkaian. That's one of the few languages I don't speak yet. I have had to settle for Tien translations that aren't quite as elegant. For example, the third stanza begins... well, never mind. I'm getting off the point.
Brine Dragons are opinionated and power-obsessed, seeking to dominate others. Their breath weapon is usually a line of acid."
Knowledge (History): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
"Huyanwo is a brine dragon who made his home on Xielan Island some 175 years ago. Finding the village now called Old Harbor undefended, he had grand ambitions of ruling the fisherfolk in the town. Grand indeed, lording over some poor fishermen. But when the peasants refused to submit to the dragon’s demands of tribute, he became enraged and laid waste to the village. Now the locals believe the island to be haunted and uninhabitable.
I have no problem with the idea of putting an end to this monster."

Pardon the lag. I'm at a convention this weekend.
You head toward the Ridge of Graves, preparing to face the primal brine dragon Huyanwo.
Any preparations? Please set your Marching order. If flying, what height? Any buffs you want to put up once you near the Ridge of Graves? (Obviously would need to be buffs that last hour+, at least.)

Jeras will hold potion of fly in hand just in case and dagger in other.

Daathiel will cast the following 10 min/level (120 min) spells:

Heightened Awareness

He will fly at a height of 20', and keep Blink active from his ring.

GM Uktar |

As you reach the beginning of the isthmus known as the Ridge of Graves, you prepare yourselves with a few magics. As the tension builds with each passing minute, you start to startle at the twitch of a bush as a bird flits about. After about thirty minutes or so, you spy the ruins of a stone pagoda. As you look a little closer, you spy a LARGE reptilian creature on the roof of the pagoda, as it climbs onto the peak and roars its challenge.
I apologize for the size of map, but hunting dragons outdoors requires scale.

Flora joins Mal in his brief moment of doubt before steeling her resolve. She unleashes a blast of wood and doom. It strikes the dragon but it shatters against its tough hide, failing to penetrate its thick skin.

Dragon was prone for having taken lethal damage from a fall. Does it have a thing to stand as a swift action?

GM Uktar |

Dragon doesn't have to stand up before taking flight. There is no info on travel time in the module, none on discussion boards. But then checked map and scale...Now realize that even with active tracking, took too much time to go to Shadewood (for dragon disciple with ruby bracelet...no biggie). And it would've been no more than an hour to reach ridge, then 30 minutes as you went to "search and walk" mode (and that's when you cast new buffs--if needed.). So 90 minutes total until spotting dragon on ridge. See Invisibility still active. Mal is entitled to AoO. Will adjust Dragon's actions according to results. So NO Party action yet, just Mal AoO.
Not that it matters, but Mal, why is SLA duration character level +1, i.e. 130 minu instead of 120?

Having been battered by the party, and realizing Mal can still see it, the dragon flies to the north. Daathiel's echolocation sees it move about 40' before it moves out of range, but Mal narrates its flight.

HUGE water map
Friendly reminder there is a zoom tool available. Jeras and Daathiel are on the bottom edge.
Jeras zooms forward to the edge of the cliff and sees a LARGE set of ripples where the dragon plunged into the Bay. He does not see the dragon.
I kept you at the height of the cliff, if you wanted to be lower, you could have dropped as low as water level. Feel free to adjust that. AND you still have standard action left.
Daathiel just manages to get to the edge of the cliff where he too sees the ripples. He casts detect magic, but other than the blazing beacons of magic that you pathfinders carry, he detects no other dweomers.
Height is relative to water surface. You're actually at ground level of ridge. Obviously, water is just out of range of 60' cone.
Flora moves over and hops aboard the carpet--it creaks a little at the strain. Mal guides them over to the edge of cliff.
Double move of 60'. As with Daathiel, ground level, water surface 60' below.
Unless Flora can become Tiny (or smaller), or you have other shenanigans, space is an issue. Just flying about on 5x5 carpet, going to need a DC:10 Acrobatics check or fall off--with your skill mods, no check needed. Neither of you will be able to perform combat actions while both on carpet. Speed will be 30', because over base capacity of 200lb. (Flora+gear is about 45lb, and lightest base male dwarf weight is 165, not counting gear (while minimal, there's more weight there--no need for math on Mal gear: over 200, definitely under 400). While I'm taking a little guidance from squeeze rules, bottom line is you just can't share a 5x5 space in combat. Unless one of you is tiny, or you have other shenanigans? Potentially relevant rules:
Underwater Environment
While being invisible underwater does NOT confer complete invisibility, these are murky waters, and to try and see something in them--especially something invisible--will require taking an intentional act of perception, i.e. a Move action to actively use Perception, rather than reactively...at least under the current circumstances.
