If the fog is able to offer you concealment it prevents sneak attacks (you are not wearing the goggles that penetrate fog). You also get to roll for a 20% miss chance (5' of fog).

I do not believe being concealed has any effect on the concealed creature's ability to target others; if the TARGET is obscured, there is a miss chance and no sneak attack. (thus the foe has a miss chance on Tirion, but I see no rule citing the reverse.) I believe rogues and snipers routinely attack FROM concealment -- be it hiding in bushes or peering out of fog -- without any issues...

dude halfling

Tirion will quietly venture forward through the fog:

Tirion's Stealth check: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (11) + 26 = 37 . plus whatever bonus might apply for being in fog...

when he comes to the edge after 20', he can finally see a monster -- so he quickdraws and fires!

primary attack with silenced +1 SEEKING Revolver: 1d20 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 17 + 1 = 32
if AC 32 hits its flat-footed AC, then 1d6 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 1 = 16 points of damage...
plus 7d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 4, 1, 3, 1) = 18 sneak attack damage, ** and Bleed7 **

dude halfling

Tirion sneaks forward another 20':

Tirion's Stealth check: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (6) + 26 = 32

and notes Januarius fighting a big thing in the fog -- so he'll pop the big thing in the head with a steel round from his silenced +1 SEEKING pistol:

primary attack with silenced SEEKING +1 Revolver: 1d20 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 17 + 1 = 20 . ..yay dice!
if AC 20 hits, then 1d6 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 1 = 12 points of damage...
if it didn't spot Tirion in the fog, add 7d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 6, 3, 1, 1) = 21 sneak attack damage, ** and Bleed7 **

dude halfling

"Very clever of you to cast a Fireball -- that'll clear the fog around 'em!"

Tirion will quietly double-move through the fog, keeping one hand on the wall to his right, stopping when he finds a cubby to hide in...

Tirion's Stealth check: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (14) + 26 = 40

dude halfling

Tirion's Initiative roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

dude halfling

Tirion wonders of he's heard the name Xaliasa during the extensive study mentioned in his backstory:

Tirion's Knowledge:Local check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Tirion's Knowledge:Nobility check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

dude halfling

whispered to Bo via Message: "tell him the Pathfinder Society rules now!"

dude halfling

Tirion remains hidden...

dude halfling

Tirion hides, and checks six!

Tirion's Stealth check: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (15) + 26 = 41

Tirion's Perception check: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40

(looks to him like a dead-end trap, where spider has victims trapped and then comes down from the only opening -- eating its way to the dead end...)

dude halfling

Tirion quietly takes the tail position:

Tirion's Stealth check: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (16) + 26 = 42

and "checks six" a lot:

Tirion's Perception check: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (15) + 20 = 35

dude halfling

Tirion will leap down into the cavern, taking two points of damage (Boots of the Cat!) -- which will regenerate in a couple of hours (thanks to the cracked Pearly White Spindle dancing around his head)...

he wants to feel what it's like to be regenerating!

for his standard action, he'll activate the Disguise Self from the Western Star Ioun Stone: for the next two hours, he looks kinda like his brother (and his Ioun Stones are invisible)!

dude halfling

Tirion will use his wand to cast Message on each person as they go down.

"How far down is it?"

dude halfling

Tirion pulls the rope up, to see if it's been cut or has teeth marks or something like that...

dude halfling

doh!

OK, then nix the Anti-Magic Shell and Heal scrolls (saves 3,300gp), and reduce the scroll with 4 castings of D-Door to 3 castings (saves 700gp) -- then use the 4,000gp to buy a <Western Star Ioun Stone>...

dude halfling

during Tirion's shopping spree in Magnimar, he spends the following on the following:

6,000gp to add SEEKING to +1 pistol
3,400gp to get a <*cracked* Pearly White Spindle Ioun Stone> EMBEDDED on his right arm
12,000gp to get a <*flawed* Pale Orange Rhomboid Ioun Stone> EMBEDDED on his left arm

1,650gp for a scroll of ANTI-MAGIC SHELL
1,650gp for a scroll of HEAL
2,800gp for a scroll with FOUR castings of Dimension Door (700 each)
750gp for a scroll with TWO castings of Clairvoyance on it (375 each)
300gp for a scroll with TWO castings of Eagle's Splendor on it (150 each)
300gp for a scroll with TWO castings of Summon Monster II on it (150 each)

2,250gp for THREE potions of remove Blind/Deaf (750 each)

TOTAL: 31,100gp

that leaves 900gp to throw into the party pool -- with Bo's 950, party pool is at least 1,850gp. Assuming others throw at least 400gp into the Party pool, the party can spend 2,250gp for a scroll with two castings of Teleport (1,125 each)

dude halfling

I expect to work on Tirion's purchases tomorrow morn...

dude halfling

good tip, Bo -- Seeking on pistol is a much more cost-effective upgrade than Sniper Goggles to Greater Sniper Goggles! Tirion will have that upgrade added to his +1 Silenced Pistol!! (does the Silenced property count as a +1, so adding Seeking costs delta to +3 equivalent?)

dude halfling

I note the delta between Sniper Goggles and Greater Sniper Goggles is 30,000gp: perhaps Tirion will take his goggles to where he purchased them, and get an upgrade!

dude halfling

Tirion had TWO scrolls of Teleport: one is reserved specifically for returning to Magnimar! Plus, he has a scroll of Eagle's Splendor, which boosts his UMD bonus to 31 -- more than adequate for the DC=30 check required for a scroll of Teleport...

So we can forget all that stuff about a red line snaking across the map!

Since conversation with the sheriff is already underway, I guess we chose to Teleport right to Sandpoint, and give 'em the good news...we'll boat to Magnimar the next day...

"Even a cleric can't help 'Snatch -- he was just born that way..."

dude halfling

not having Knowledge:History, Tirion only spends the first day trying to help Bo in the library. The days after Bo's first day in the library are spent carefully exploring the complex of caves and rooms that the party rushed through before -- as well as other areas we may not have even entered.

Tirion is wary of traps -- if he finds anything suspicious, he'll get Bandersnatch to help him (his brother should at least have a chance to watch whilst Tirion rolls a nat '1' trying to disable a trap!). Also, rather than enter new areas alone, he'll get his brother to accompany him before he enters someplace the party hadn't seen before.

(this might also keep Bander from bothering Bo too much...)

dude halfling

Tirion will ask the giants -- especially our she-giant friend -- what they know about the name Karzoug...

dude halfling

"My favorite Sihedron so far is that 10-pound one we found on that big statue in the Hook Mountain cave! Do you suppose that's the symbol of this Car-Zogg guy?? I must say, I rather liked being referred to as 'the heroes of the age'!"

dude halfling

Tirion will pop a ki to go Greater Invisible; move to where he can sight in on Mokmurian, and pop him one -- taking +2 from the Blessing of Fervor, and using his new Greater Precise Shot ability to ignore cover (and the Sniper Goggles to Sneak Attack at long range...):

sneak attack with silenced +1 Revolver: 1d20 + 17 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 17 + 2 + 2 = 28
if AC 28 manages to hit his flat-footed AC,
then 8d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 3, 4, 5, 4, 5) + 9 = 43 points of damage...
** and Bleed7 **

dude halfling

what's down there in the shaft?

dude halfling

Tirion's Perception check: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21

Tirion sneaks over behind some furniture adjacent to the shaft:

Tirion's Stealth check: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (8) + 26 = 34

and takes a look down:

Tirion's Perception check: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (18) + 20 = 38

dude halfling

I thought the Wall o' Force was still up? Bo can't shoot through it, right?

"Come on in here, guys -- and close the doors! We didn't come here to kill all the giants, right? Let 'em gather in the hall -- we'll beam in behind 'em and just kill their leader..."

Tirion is pulling out his last scroll of Dimension Door...

dude halfling

Tirion will quietly move behind Jan, and press his ear to the door and listen for something on the other side...

did the doors open? the other side is revealed on the map...

if the doors open, Tirion scans around the room instead!

Tirion's Perception check: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (18) + 20 = 38

he's staying hidden whilst he does this, of course:

Tirion's Stealth check: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (20) + 26 = 46

dude halfling

during the first round, while he is standing around blind, Tirion will drink his elixir of hiding, and press himself against the wall in his best effort of hiding while blind (uncertain the shining kid-things are dead...)

upon having his sight restored, Tirion (unaware that battle is coming the following round...) uses his wand of Infernal Healing on Januarius -- then attempt to re-hide himself against the wall (in case those doors fly open...):

Tirion's Stealth check: 1d20 + 26 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 26 + 10 = 40

Tirion's Initiative roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

(he had not anticipated they would come from the east!)

dude halfling

Tirion will use his wand o' Magic Missile (CL=3) on the one Bo just shot up, targeting the position it was in when it blinded him:

two magic missiles: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6

dude halfling

Tirion's Fortitude save: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 2 = 20 . GOSH, WHAT A SURPRISE!

dude halfling

I assume Bo steps over as well: Tirion gives the guys a moment to ready an action (ready to attack upon arrival), then beams 'em in with their backs to the wall where he saw Bo's bullets stop...

Tirion has *one* scroll of D-Door left -- not that he'll be able to use it, since I expect Tirion will be blind for the rest of the game...

dude halfling

Tirion hates being blind!

"Very well, I hope you can kill these things quickly!"

Tirion will wave the boys over while pulling out a scroll of Communal Protection from Evil:

"I'm not gonna step out where I can see 'em and be blinded again! Get over here by me and I'll give us a modicum of protection -- THEN I'll door us over there..."

he readies an action such that when they are adjacent, he'll use the scroll to provide a +2 against their evil effects. *Next* round, Tirion will pull out and use his 2nd-to-last scroll of Dimension Door.

dude halfling

"I do have another scroll of Dimension Door. If I beam us past that wall, that bright light will probably blind me again. I had but one potion to remove blindness -- if I am blinded again, I cannot recover..."

dude halfling

Tirion promptly drank a potion of Remove Blindness

dude halfling

Tirion pulls out scroll of Dimension Door, takes a 5' step so he can touch both Bo and Jan, and reads the scroll to beam himself and both of them -- assuming they're both willing -- out of view of the bright light (as indicated on map). He cannot see his brother or Yaap, so he just hopes they are OK.

dude halfling

wait...they can permanently blind as a free action?

dude halfling

2d20 ⇒ (6, 12) = 18 duh!

Without a moment's hesitation, Tirion averts his eyes, pulls his potion of Remove Blindness/Deafness, and slurps it down...

Also, Vanishing Trick/Invisible Blade as a Swift action.

dude halfling

Tirion's Initiative roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

dude halfling

"We're certainly not going to leave it here..."

the scroll of Contact Other Plane goes into Tirion's collection.

Tirion will also reload his revolver.

dude halfling

note that Tirion is still invisible when he indicates which door...he suddenly realizes this foolishness!

"By that, I mean shall I use my scroll of Clairvoyance to look on the other side of the stone door atop the stairs!"

dude halfling

Tirion is indeed familiar with the Dimension Door spell...

"I have heard of a spell called Dimensional Anchor; this bad-guy escaping thing seems to happen often enough that perhaps we should get a wand of it!"

he pulls out his scroll of Clairvoyance, and indicates the stone door at the top of the stairs:

"You don't suppose the big runt simply beamed to the other side of this door, do you? Shall I take a look?"

dude halfling

Tirion's Spellcraft check: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (17) + 19 = 36

Tirion replies to Bandersnatch's query (what *did* the giant cast?)...

dude halfling

Tirion's Will save: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 1 = 25

Annoyed at the wasted charge from his wand, Tirion will activate Vanishing Trick/Invisible Blade as a swift action, take a 5' step forward; quick-draw his +1 revolver as free action, and let the statue have it -- taking an extra shot with B.O.F.:

primary attack with silenced +1 Revolver: 1d20 + 17 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 17 + 2 + 1 = 35
if AC 35 hits, then 1d6 + 9 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 12 + 1 = 23 points of damage
if it is not immune to sneak attack, then
add another 7d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 5, 1, 5, 4) = 25 sneak attack damage;
(I assume it cannot bleed...)

extra B.O.F. attack with silenced +1 Revolver: 1d20 + 17 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 17 + 2 + 1 = 34
if AC 34 hits, then 1d6 + 9 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 12 + 1 = 28 points of damage
if it is not immune to sneak attack, then
add another 7d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 1, 6, 6, 6) = 34 sneak attack damage;

iterative attack with +1 Revolver: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 29
if AC 29 hits, then 1d6 + 9 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 12 + 1 = 27 points of damage
if it is not immune to sneak attack, then
add another 7d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 6, 5, 6, 3) = 27 sneak attack damage;

3rd attack with +1 Revolver: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 22
if AC 22 somehow hits (steel rounds?), then 1d6 + 9 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 12 + 1 = 26 points of damage
if it is not immune to sneak attack, then
add another 7d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 6, 2, 6, 6) = 29 sneak attack damage;

dude halfling

Tirion pulls out his bundle of wands as he moves up to see better, and lets loose a terrifying Magic Missile -- for 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 = 7 damage!

dude halfling

Tirion's Trap Spotter ability goes into hyper mode...

"It is unfortunate that I did not replace that Gust of Wind scroll I used up in Hook Mountain. Perhaps we should find a way to ignore this room altogether!"

dude halfling

"Yapp's channeling did it for me. Those beasts are rather hard to look at -- even worse than Bandersnatch!"

Tition will reload as he scans the room:

Tirion's Perception check: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31

dude halfling

<Sniper Goggles>

BUT, since Tirion is not within 30', the +2/sneak die does not apply -- so subtract 12 damage from the two shots that hit. The rest of the sneak attack damage still applies though...

anyway, if Tirion *had* been within 30', it should have been +14 damage: I'll update that note to myself...

dude halfling

Tirion will stay where he is, enjoying his Greater Invisibility, and quietly fire away at the one farthest away from him (northWEST corner):

primary attack with silenced +1 Revolver: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 17 + 2 = 23
if AC 23 hits flatfooted, then 1d6 + 9 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 12 = 26 points of damage...
plus 7d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 5, 5, 2, 4) = 27 sneak attack damage, ** and Bleed7 **

2nd attack with +1 Revolver: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 2 = 16 ...

3rd attack with +1 Revolver: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 = 27
if AC 27 hits, then 1d6 + 9 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 12 = 25 points of damage...
plus another 7d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 2, 5, 4, 4) = 24 sneak attack damage

dude halfling

Tirion's Fortitude save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

the pain makes Tirion want to kill that one a little extra...

About Frozen Frost

A human chemist ready to discover the world of Golarion.

⬤⬤⬤ ABOUT ME ⬤⬤⬤
Hello, everyone! Frozen Frost here. I go by the alias GM Frost for my Organized Play games. I've been playing and GMing Pathfinder 2e since November 2021. It was during the COVID-19 pandemic when GM Tiger introduced the game to me. It picqued my interest and began reading about it before I started playing online through play-by-post (PbP). I started buying and reading more rulebooks and setting books (as PDFs because physical books are too expensive for me, and international courier fees, of course) after receiving one as a gift. Since then, I've delved into both playing and GMing Pathfinder 2e, primarily here on the Paizo Forums and Discord, although my main focus has been on the Forums. I also began immersing myself in the Starfinder setting. I played a few Starfinder games, but it has been challenging for me to grasp the rules when you have two different core mechanics to learn. When I heard about Starfinder 2e, I was thrilled, eagerly awaiting the release of the adventures.

As an introvert with those I don’t personally know and am only acquainted with, I find play-by-post (PbP) to be very convenient as I can also easily incorporate it into my daily schedule. PbP also allows me to have time to think about what to narrate and to check my narrative for the games I play and run, given the fact that I am not really fluent in English and am not even confident about it in writing. As of December 2023, I've recently earned my second glyph as GM for Pathfinder Society.

In real life, I live in the beautiful tropical country, the Philippines. I'm a registered chemist by profession, working in quality control at a chemical manufacturing company for over a decade. I now serve as department head for a few years, supervising the quality control of the company’s products and raw materials. Currently in my early 30s, I'm enjoying the single life but also facing the challenges of adulting that we all must go through. I try balancing the demands of work with my passion for Pathfinder 2e, which adds a fulfilling dimension to my life. As I continue to grow personally and professionally, I also cherish the connections made through gaming and the opportunity to unwind and explore imaginative worlds with fellow enthusiasts. I also enjoy playing games on my mobile device and Nintendo Switch, with my favorites being Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Hogwarts Legacy.

I aspire to become a three- or four-glyph GM for Pathfinder 2e in the years to come through my dedication to games in play-by-post format. With the release of Starfinder 2e on the horizon, I’m excited about the prospect of exploring and mastering this new game system, especially since its core mechanics are based on those of Pathfinder 2e. I look forward to immersing myself in the universe of Starfinder and potentially taking on the role of GM to guide players through thrilling adventures in the vastness of space.

To join my PbP Society games here on the Paizo Forums, check if there's an open recruitment at my GM Frost's Recruitment Board.

⬤⬤⬤ GM PHILOSOPHY ⬤⬤⬤:

To ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for players participating in my Pathfinder 2e games, I want everyone to understand what they can expect from me and what I expect from them:

Embrace the First Rule: Our games are meant for enjoyment and fun. As the GM, I am a player too, responsible for guiding the story. Similarly, you, as a player, craft the narrative for your character within the game world.

Fairness and Consistency: I will strive to apply the rules consistently and fairly to the best of my knowledge and ability. If there are any questions or uncertainties, feel free to ask for clarification. However, it's important to note that I may not know every rule by heart. I trust you, as players, to be familiar with the rules governing your characters, including references to class feats, skill feats, and other relevant mechanics.

Contribute to the Story with Roleplay: While I act as the storyteller, your input as players is invaluable. Your character's actions and decisions significantly influence the direction of the narrative. Feel empowered to be creative and take risks. While detailed roleplaying isn't mandatory, engaging with other characters and the world around you enriches the game experience.

Respect and Inclusion: Mutual respect is fundamental at our gaming table. Discriminatory language or behavior has no place here. We're all here to have a good time, and everyone's enjoyment matters.

Prioritize Real Life: In play-by-post (PbP) games, regular posting keeps the game flowing smoothly. If you're unable to post for any reason, simply let us know, even if it's just to say you're unable to contribute at the moment. However, real-life obligations always take precedence. If you anticipate a prolonged absence, please inform us in advance. While I prefer not to "bot" or control your character in your absence, providing botting instructions can help keep the game moving in your absence.

These are the core principles that guide our gaming sessions. I may expand on these in the future, but for now, let's uphold these standards to ensure a fantastic gaming experience for everyone involved.

-----------------------------------

⬤⬤⬤ IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE I START THE GAME ⬤⬤⬤:
I am also laying down important instructions in every game's Discussion before we begin playing, ensuring that the game runs smoothly for everyone.

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the game. Before we begin, here are some important instructions for a smooth experience:

1. Sign up on the Sign-Up Sheet (linked above) and provide Player Name, Character Name, Organized Play Number, Character Number, etc. We'll use the RPG Chronicles website for this.

2. Fill in your character and minion tokens, and marching order on page 2 of Slides and Maps (linked above). Also, update your character’s basic information, core stats, and skill modifiers on Macros (linked above).

3. Ensure your character's stat block/header includes HP, AC, Saving Throws (Fortitude, Reflex, Will), Perception bonus, and Speed.

4. Area templates (burst, cone, emanation, line) are on pages 3-7 of the Slides and can be copied to the Encounter Map.

5. Post regularly, preferably at least once daily and once on weekends. Follow the Organized Play Foundation Community Standards: "Explore, Report, Cooperate." Non-consensual character conflict is prohibited and can result in Infamy points.

6. I will roll initiative checks and use a block initiative system. PCs in the active block can post their actions, resolved in posting order. I will roll secret checks; players roll saving throws.

7. Use these symbols in combat posts: ◆ for single action, ◆◆ for two actions, ◆◆◆ for three actions, ↺ for reaction, ◇ for free action.

8. We’ll use the X-Card for safety. If something makes you uncomfortable, include '[X-Card]' in your post or message me privately.

9. Regular posting keeps the game flowing. Kindly inform us of any absences. Provide botting instructions if you'll be away.

10. Remember, the goal is to have fun! :)

Thank you, and let's embark on this exciting adventure!
