Male Dwarven Outlaw | Wounds 16/16 | Fortune/Fate 1/2 | Resolve/Resilience 2/2 | Armor: Body 1, Buckler 1
It likely isn't important because this character is meant to be a short-termer, but I listened to a long podcast on slayers yesterday and it looks like I fell into some common misunderstandings in my character write-up. Primarily: 1. Thyrik's clan wouldn't insist that he become a slayer or even encourage him to. It's considered an absolute last resort and possibly even selfish on the slayer's part since they are leaving dwarven society where they are most needed. Other dwarves would respect the decision once made though. 2. It's more likely that Thyrik is desperately trying to figure out a way to avoid taking the slayer oath. He'd need to find another way to reclaim his honor. Probably the background needs adjusted some. I'm currently preferring the idea that Thyrik is falsely accused under human law (hence an outlaw) but has thus far refused to start attacking people like a proper brigand would since that would only shame him further.

I looked above and there was a reference from the GM to the dullahan being outside right before we put up the barricade. It's probably best to just say they got in right before the barricade went up. Thyrik moved to go down the trap door. He didn't want the dead thing to already have gained its ground before he was able to descend himself. He'd also prefer to have good stone over his head in dark times like these.

"What are you going on about, manling?" Thyrik asked as he watched Gottfried crawling on the floors. He was starting to doubt that coming to this place had been a good idea. As a player, I'm fine with giving the dullahan its axe. Thyrik wouldn't be the one to approve it though.

Well, this could be embarrassing or not... Seeing that none of his companions had ideas to finesse the situation, Thyrik opted for a more direct approach. "Out of the way!" he shouted as he lowered his shoulder and charged at the door. Going to ask for a bonus from charging, but I won't apply it on the roll here. Strength Test: Strength 41: 1d100 ⇒ 66
That isn't great. I might choose to use Fortune on it but will wait to hear if I get any modifiers like a charge bonus first.

It looks likely that Gottfried is going to take down the axeman. If so, Thyrik will move over to...help?...the horseman. Or see if they are a friend/foe. Maybe fight some wolves if they come out...hard to say for sure. Attack if needed: Melee (Basic) 56 +10 charge: 1d100 ⇒ 46

Thyrik admired the human's boldness, but attempted to stick to the shadows while keeping up. Mixing the two approaches proved overly difficult however. Stealth (Rural) - Agility 24 +10: 1d100 ⇒ 70

I didn't hear any objections, so Thyrik will take one of the bucklers. With the way shields work, he'll typically just use the shield for the Defensive quality to avoid the -20 offhand penalty on defensive tests. "If we know where our enemies are, that's good enough for me. Let's not waste more time."

Thyrik has a hand weapon already & armor 1 for just body. He'd take the second jack if one is available but is more interested in a buckler. Thyrik rummages around in the available equipment, glad to have some additional tack on hand.

Read the recent parts of the gameplay thread. I'm thinking it could work to just have Thyrik show up late for the militia call...not that he's part of the militia (see also: outlaw) but he's sick of being cooped up. |
