Thank you, I couldn't see the map from my phone.

Upon preparing his spells and casting his regular daily buffs, Thomas engages with his new party through the illusory door. "Off putting folks around here, aren't there?"

As the fighting began, Thomas picked out a point far enough away from his frontline allies to just miss them with a Sunburst spell.

Reflex save of 28 for half damage and to prevent blinding
Sunburst: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 1, 5, 3) = 19

Dagnabbed autocorrect. That's supposed to be recomposes, haha.

A befuddled man jerks awake by the odd voice!

"What is this?! Who are all you people?!" He seems particularly indignant for someone who is still dressed in less fine garb than a burlap sack. He eyes his staff and other belongings and scuttles towards them. All the while as he gets changed, you can hear him grumbling about how he's never been more insulted in all his life.

Before too long, he decomposes himself and ends up scouring his spellbook. "Apologies. My name is Rubinski. Please grant me a moment to refresh my magic." His voice is deep and carries with an unmistakable Irriseni accent.

I'll put a bit more work into this and try to be ready soon.

Howard the Muck:
He smiles back at her. "Close, the old man and the butler had traded places the entire time!"

"Take a look if you would like, sir, I have already sent out several copies to the universities that requested I take up writing it."

M. Duck:
Thomas hands over the journal. It's about as tangled and impenetrable as a concrete octopus. Calling it chicken scratch would be offensive to chickens.
"Pardon if my shorthand is tough to read. Much of that was notes."

The more I think about it, the harder it is for me to decide if I want to keep Thomas as a White Mage or retool him into a Brown-Fur Transmuter. I think that would be better for support, especially if we don't find ourselves in need of excess healing. Plus it doesn't quite seem right that the engineer learns how to heal instead of studying transmutation more. If no one minds, I'd like to make that change.

Also, Ryu, if Sacred Geometry is something you're shaky on, would you think picking up the Seeker sorcerer archetype is too much, too?

The Mucky Duck:
"Then consider yourself lucky." Thomas starts, producing a journal full of notes. "If you were still interested in my work, take a gander. Nearly a hundred pages on the effects of applying metamagic to Battering Blast. Calculations, proofs, conceptualizations. Nothing slow in this, but very narrow; likely my worst work in years. Teaching and study are good and keep the mind busy, but I would love to see my work in more practical use instead of in theory." He gives a slight, sad shake of his head.

Darkwing Muck:
"Very strange indeed, friend. I read about a spell that would have reverted your condition, if you wished so, but it was lost to the ancient sorcerer-kings of man. I doubt any alive have any inkling on how it works. So sorry."

He turns to Rosalyn. "Indeed she has been a great teacher. Amazing mage, her. Perhaps you may meet her one day."

Cheap, AKA The Good Duck:
"I can tell you, Rosalyn, I know quite well. It was by her Dancing Hut that I ended up here. Was much more imposing than I would have thought from the stories. On top of which, my mentor received a boon from her after some sort of altercation with her daughter." He finished the food on his plate before continuing.

"I'm uncertain on where she is now, but there was a chill Old Grandmother set into my bones. Were it not for that, I would have begged her for knowledge of the arcane. Fortunate I turned to the mage that freed her, Mistress Tessara, instead for my training."

Fingers crossed, Wivvy!

Same here. Arguably my best character had a backstory that he was an intern in a magic factory that gained the Stormborn bloodline when struck by lightning. Everything from there on in game time dictated his character, from family life to his sense of right and wrong to his college antics. So much better when it's allowed to be drawn naturally through roleplay and a good GM. That being said, I hope the things I came up with about Thomas are reasonable in tying him into Reign of Winter.

Duck Tales:
Thomas chewed nonchalantly, listening to the stories. "I feel like the odd man out here. I wouldn't have thought to see more like you two around here. I think I have enough time dormant to work this, if you would excuse me?" He uses a sorcerer spell slot to cast True Seeing on himself.

"Ah, indeed you are lovely, madam. I would say I am a foreigner as well, but not from somewhere so exciting as you or this gentleman. Were I to mention, I came from the same place as Queen Anastasia of Irrisen, if you've heard of the tales."

Duckduck:
"Wings? Pardon then, I had not prepared spells today. I must have failed to notice the glammer."

Could certainly be that they're worn out from finals. I'd think we could expect to see them today if their last ones were over the weekend.

Muckmuck:
Thomas chuckled. "I could see how you could say that. I've seen more than a few collegues that let the prestige get to their heads. I am just pleased to be here, learning what I can."

He took a bite of his breakfast. "Though I have to think I'm not the only one here who is a change of pace. I take it you're not a native around here, either?"

Muckduck:
Thomas begins cutting open a bagel and spreading the cream cheese. "Haven't heard of that one, but wouldn't be surprised if someone got to think of that. You'd be amazed how much mathematical calculations there can be in magic. In fact, with the proper application of Arcane Sight, you can make observe any spell of 4th level or higher as a fractal. Wonderful sort of applications." He takes a bite into his breakfast and slugs down the coffee.

"Hit the spot, that did."

Spoiler:
"I think I'd love discussing it with you as well. Intuition is important, but practice is more so, too. I could certainly show you some tricks and interconnections of spells. Also with wands and staffs. But first, would you mind if I grab a bite?"

Thomas turns to Old Tom. "Bagels, please. Toasted with cream cheese."

Ducky Mucky:
"Apologies, miss. Until breakfast, my head's not quite on straight, and my sense of time with it. Of course I'd like to join you." He takes a seat with Rosalyn. "As for the moment, the only evil I've stumbled upon is deadlines. I'm due to deliver a lecture on the mathematics of metamagic. Terribly difficult material. Figured that a detour would help me write the material."

Doesn't seem worth it too much. Buy or combine a Monk's Robe and you get 1d8 on your unarmed strikes without dropping the feat.

Spoiler:
He rubs the sleep from his eyes. "Just passing through, stranger. Thought I'd just stay for the night." He produced a journal densely packed in script, numbers, and chicken scratch shorthand. The proof for his latest theory was turning his head in knots.

"Although on second thought, maybe some distraction will clear the head. My name is Thomas, it's a pleasure to meet you." He leaned on his staff and pointed toward the tavern keeper. "Pardon, do you have any more of that Mwangi coffee?"

Spoiler:
The man blinks. "Is that today? Gracious, what is the date?"

Spoiler:
A bespectacled, robed man descends the stairs, looking particularly groggy. He mutters some words to himself reminiscent of Skald tongue before slipping into Taldane common.

"What in the world is going on out there? Don't people realize there are those trying to sleep in here?" He pulls out a pocket watch and adjusts his glasses as he examines the time.

"Agh, or it's been another late night studying theory. Must make a note to fix my sleep schedule. Still doesn't explain the racket."

Also, has anyone seen Wivvy?

Here's my character's concept so far. Hopefully, I'm in under the deadline, and can qualify for the extra time to finish fine tuning.

I have my skills almost complete and I can buy a few more items if I'd be considered. And the background's more than a bit rushed, especially compared to Eric's books. Still, please let me know what you all think.

Though in the meantime, I think I need some sleep for tonight.
