As CH has said, that is how I saw this thread. Glad to see Rev is doing much better!

Thom returns the look of the Skeleton with one of his own. Yeah, more of that where THAT came from! He nods in thanks to the Maw which did its job before being obliterated.

Maw is indeed destroyed.

Thom grits his teeth as he sees the Deathdrinker approaching. Gotta slow it down... He summons one of his favorite spells to do just that.

Standard: Entangling Force
RANGE Area burst 1 within 10 squares
TARGET Deathdrinker
A burst of force erupts around your enemies, knocking them off balance and impeding their movement.
Attack: Intelligence 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40 vs. Reflex CRIT!
Hit: 3d6+14 MAX = 32 + CRIT 4d6 + 32 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 4) + 32 = 50 force damage.
UEONT, the target is slowed and can't teleport, and it provokes opportunity attacks when it shifts.
Wand of Accuracy: On a miss, you deal 6 force damage to the target.
.
The Maw continues to chew away at M1.
Intelligence 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35 vs. Reflex; 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12 damage.

Heh...this is the NEW and IMPROVED (aka Errata'd) Magic Missile spell.

Thom exclaims, "Take that!"

Magic Missile M2
Effect: 13 points force damage.
Special: You can use this power as a ranged basic attack.

Thom moves forward into the zone set up by Raya, between James and Barel. He looks over to the undead approaching and slams his staff into the ground causin a shock wave to appear.

Hit: 3d6 + 17 ⇒ (5, 6, 1) + 17 = 29 thunder damage, and you push the target 1 Square
Effects: Destructive Wizardry: +3 to damage if you hit two or more creatures.

Heh...I thought it was a nom de plume...

Thom sees the undead start swarming the stairway and decides to slow their advance. And he knew the perfect creature suited for such a task...Soon the air is filled with the sound of gnashing teeth as a voracious creature of the Elemental Chaos appears and chews into anything it can reach.

Summon Abyssal Maw

Careful Summoner, Summoned creatures gain +1 to defenses.

"I would much rather do both, Ari!" Thom grins. "That is why I brought you along on this quest, he he."

Initiative: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

Thom's face is a mask of determination. "I can summon a circle of protection which should keep those undead from getting up here."

Thom will scan all three of them, starting with the large skeleton.

Thom shrugs. "In response to your questions, number one is yeah it SHOULD. As for number two, I would definitely try but we should be ready for a fight here."

Can Thom determine the weaknesses of the creatures using his Foe Stone here?

Leveled up. +1 to DEX and CHA. Feat: Dual Implement Spellcaster. Corrected the Damage for attack powers.

Endurance 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 10 + 2 = 23
Damage 2d8 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9

Thom waves at the two members who have moved in front of the party. "Good going, you guys are doing great! Oh...is it my turn? Oh OK..." He steps gingerly into the mist...following in Raya's footsteps.

Initiative 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Endurance 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 2 = 15
Damage 2d8 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

...and is surprised at how little it hurt.

"Thank you Saint Tavar for this ritual!" Thom immediately starts preparing the ritual for the others and himself.

Not sure if I need to roll here but here goes: Arcane 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (4) + 23 = 27

"I wonder if Tavar's ritual to mask our living auras would work here."

Would the Deadly Shroud ritual work here?

Thom eyes the mist uneasily...

Arcane 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (14) + 23 = 37

Pulls out his old 4e PHB...
.
OK according to the rules on rituals no skill check is required here. Thom simply performs it and 5 of us are protected against the cold for 24 hours. However we have 6 of us here. Rev, can Thom roll Arcana here to try including another person in the ritual? If OK then here is his roll: Arcana 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (16) + 23 = 39. Also up to 4 people can assist Thom here.

DM, Raya, James:
Thom shivers uncontrollably, realizing even his protective clothing would not suffice against the brutal cold.

"N...N...nnice...ppp....plll...place here, Raya." He shivers, unconsciously moving closer to the lady. "I th-th-think I have a r--r--ritual to help here. O--Once the others arrive, I'll cast it."

Once the others arrive, I'll cast an Endure Elements ritual. It will protect 5 people for 24 hours against the cold.

Thom mutters "Once more unto the breach..." as he pulls up his cowl of his cold weather jacket and steps through the portal.

"Nope, I am as ready as I'll ever be." Thom replies as he checks his gear making sure nothing is out of place.

Thom stumbles in, well tanned and bleary eyed.

"Hello all. Did I miss anything?"

Looks around the place, and the mess being cleaned up....

"Apparently I did..."

Roger that....I will check in on the 16th.

*Thom summons Lureene for a 2 week cruise on the Caribbean.*

Save vs. Bargain 1d20 ⇒ 7

"We should be able to purchase a ritual for that I think."

Thom grunts. "I suspect the investiture of power is to pierce the veil obscuring the plane, am I right Lu?"

I would advise us to get an extended rest before we head off to Pluton. Thom can donate Shield/Feather Fall as his power.

Thom shrugs slightly in the outfit James had provided him. It was not quite as comfortable as his typical wizardly garb, but it will do for now. Also, he had to admit, it did make him look more...dashing.

"Hmmm...I suspect things won't be quite that simple. There was some sort of veil placed on the location, so I suspect others will try to prevent us from learning where the portal to there lies. We should conduct our business with her in private."

Thom, having returned from his bath, digs into the proffered meal with gusto. He knows the chance for a good meal at their next destination was not good.

After the meal is done, he raises his glass in a toast. "Thank you James for such a wonderful meal! May we all succeed in our quest so we can have many more fine feasts!"

Ohhh...I forgot about that...well maybe Thom hopes she won't remember her...yeah right!

Thom glances at Raya, avoiding looking at her directly. "Uhh, no Raya....Nothing at all...Excuse me, I think it is my turn now for the bath..." He hurriedly gets up and heads to the bath.

Bluff 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Insight DC 19:
Thom is embarrassed about...something he was saying earlier, and he definitely was trying to hide the blush on his face.

Of course he is Raya! The very first person you have to lie to is yourself, he he.

Thom pours another glass of wine and takes a drink. He lowers his voice while looking at the others still waiting to use the bath. "I...think I do...but I know she has her own master she follows..." A look of realization dawns on his face, "And you...do you...like her as well?"

The blush on his face is quite noticeable. "Ahhh...well I guess you have not been introduced to her yet. Actually I have not summoned her ever since..." His voice trails of and his gaze lingers where Raya is dressing now.

"I was concerned how Raya would react to me if she knew I...ahhh consorted with a succubus."

Thom tears his gaze away from watching Raya's form as she disappears into the bath when he hears James question. He sips his wine in thought and nods slowly in response to Lanthair's declaration.

"Yeah, I think our friend Lanthair is more right than even he knows." He chuckles. "Actually, James I came to be on my current path due to heading down the road to corruption and despair. I had learned the arts of summoning various demons and other fiendish creatures when I was apprenticed to my master, a demonologist of some note. He actually introduced me to Lureene...and I....ahhh..." his face breaks out in a flush, "had a relationship with her. Needless to say, my soul was already damned at that point."

He takes a long drink and continues. "If it had not been for the interference of the Arcane Sentinel...whose name I cannot reveal... then I would not be here now. He slew my ex-master and then took me under his wing. One thing he showed me is how to control Lureene and the other demons I summoned. In exchange for this, I swore an oath to guard such secrets...with my life, if need be."

He sets down the glass. "I suppose the moral of my story is it is not what the power is, but what YOU are, and what you wish to be, Sir James." He glances to the bath where Raya disappeared. "Maybe you can find redemption if you dare to open your heart for such."

Thom nods at Lanthair even after he helps himself to some of the red wine. Sniffing the glass expertly, he sighs in pleasure. "This is an excellent vintage Sir James." Taking a sip of the fine beverage, he smacks his lips in appreciation. "Yes an excellent vintage indeed!"

He sets the glass down and looks at the accommodations. "Nice place you have here James. Being a wizard who is always on the move, I never had the chance to settle down and purchase a place of my own."[/b] He sniffs at his robes. "Yeahh I think it's time for a complete wardrobe change. Do you have any spare clothing? I think we are close to the same size, give or take a few inches..."

Thom spreads his arms above him. "Raya, we are in the City of Doors. I KNOW there is a portal to that place somewhere here...I believe Lu might know of it."

Thom looks down at his own robes. "Maybe Ari has the right idea here. A complete change of clothes would not be a bad idea. I suspect Pluton will not be very hospitable so stocking up on winter clothes would be wise."

I suggest we all get an extra set of winter clothes and any other items we need now and then return to Lu to get the location of the portal to Pluton. We can then relax at James pad and head off in the morning.

Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Insight 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25

"Resting up is probably a good idea at this point. I suspect there won't be many places in Pluton to rest comfortably."

Religion 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (17) + 19 = 36 for details on Pluton.

Thom wrinkles his nose, "I think we could ALL use a bath. Anyway our next destination is Pluton. That is where our foe lairs now."

I don't remember for sure but I believe she is going to transport us there.

Thom whispers softly to James, "I know where our next destination is. Please make sure Vocar has enough sweets to tide him over."

Thom watches the former exarch closely, trying to wrack his extensive stores of knowledge to see if he can make sense of his rambling nonsense.

Arcana 1d20 + 23 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 23 + 2 = 28
Religion 1d20 + 19 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 19 + 2 = 41

Thom waves off the thanks. "Don't mention it."

He eyes the old man uneasily as he stuffs his face with the sweets. "Glad to see you like the sweets. Just be sure to brush your teeth afterwards. Amyway, we are searching for the lair of your former master, the one known as..." He hesitates here, unwilling to mention Aceracks name aloud.

Thom watches the exchange between James and Vocar silently, and nearly gags while watching him vomit. He moves behind the warlock and passes a hand over him. James feels a bit cleaner, if not better.

Prestidigitation

Thom watches the rot slingers retreat, muttering "I don't like this one bit..." He does not attack them however.

"I don't think I can take another sewage bath here...therefore YOU may not..." Thom mutters to himself as he lets fly a burst of force at the rot slinger.

Standard Action: Entangling Force
RANGE Area burst 1 within 10 squares. K13
Attack: Intelligence 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23 vs. Reflex
Hit: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6) + 6 = 18 force damage and UEOMNT The target is slowed and can't teleport, and it provokes OA when it shifts.
Miss: you deal force damage to the target equal to your Intelligence modifier (+6)

Thom glances at the disgusting creatures and thinks, Why waste words on these things? As he concentrates on his force missile, adding extra power to the glowing light.

Use Magic Missile on R2 with Learned Boost.
13 points force damage + 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 = 21 total

Oh ok...then he fires at the closest one.

Thom grimaces at the smell of the sewage all around him, very glad he knew the Prestidigitation spell. He advances around the corner behind Raya, readying a spell...

Move to N11.
Ready Magic Missile spell against first visible enemy he sees. 13 points force damage.

Thom knows there is something lurking in the sewage below. He motions with his staff and exclaims, "Everyone, hold your breath..."

Thunderwave Arcane, Implement, Thunder
You create a whip-crack of sonic power that lashes up from the ground.
Standard Action, Close Blast 3, targetting S5
Attack: Intelligence 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (8) + 19 = 27 vs. Fortitude
Hit: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 thunder damage, and you push the target 1 square.

Rev: MM is pretty clear here; Thom needs to be able to SEE his target, hence the readied action. Still here is his Perception check: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 12 + 2 = 25

Thom wrinkles his nose in disgust at the display. "Gaaaah...that smells horrible!" He gags.

Ready action to cast Magic Missile at the first enemy he sees.
13 points force damage.

Rev, it looks like the background of the map was shifted. Could you please fix that? Thanks!
