Something rises out of the water very, very close to Derkhan, who only knows this because of the sound of the water running off whatever is making the noise, into the water below.

Then: "SCAAAAAW!!"

The noise is coming directly from to Derkhan's west, and its so close that Derkhan can smell the rotting stench of death in the breath(?) of whatever it is that was making that god awful sound right next to him--as it was making it. He can feel something like slime hitting that side of his face body even being 10 feet up.

Dice:
Init Derkhan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Ini (Tofang): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Init (Fentar): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Init (Jezu): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Init (Rectitude): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Init (Kolris): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 +4 w/heightened awareness
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

"Huh? What lady? We actually get a lot of ladies here on occasion. Though none so fair as you in some while." He grins. If he had eyebrows they would be moving up and down right about now.

Scarlet tries her very best to stifle a laugh. "Were you a comedian back when you were alive? You always got something to say." She draws her hammers as the party blasts him and waits for him to emerge.

"Oh yes, comedy... drama." It says with great theatrical flourish for a skeleton crammed behind some shelving. "I played the palace. But what I really want to do is-"

Numalar torches the wall! He doesn't really have to move from where he is to do this though if he wanted to he could take a 5-foot step northward to get a clearer shot.

*FWOOOSH!!*

reflex save (partial cover, no Dex bonus): 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 1 - 2 = 19

"IiiiiEEEE!"

The Thing crumbles to ash, and loose bones. It spills out onto the floor at the party's feet, along with the charred remains of a masterwork prop comedy kit.

END COMBAT

Very slowly it produces a pair of small wire rimmed spectacles and balances them precariously on what remains of its nose. "You wouldn't someone with glasses on would you?"

reflex save DC 16: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Dazzling fireworks explode just before the horror, sending trails of twinkling light slowly falling to the floor.

"AAAAH!" The thing throws up its fleshless hands to shield the blue motes of light in its eye sockets. "So you think you're funny, huh?"

"Boo."

Alia - Will save vs fear DC 16: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 rounds frightened: 1d4 ⇒ 2

The thing looks about at what its power had wrought and then back to Alia. "Ah, alone at last...."

Aliabot fires as well.

comp longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 damage: 1d8 + 2 + 2d4 ⇒ (7) + 2 + (4, 1) = 14

"Is that it? Twang, twang, twang, twang, twang? You sound like a lute convention in Lung Wa!" He/it steps toward the center of the room "Let me tell you-"

knowledge (geography or history) DC 14:
Lung Wa was a continent-spanning empire that ruled over much of Tian Xia. It formed in 4142 and fell in 4606 under the weight of widespread governmental corruption. Sixteen successor states rose to take it's place.

*TWANG!*

crossbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 damage: 1d6 + 2d4 ⇒ (6) + (1, 4) = 11 Damn robot hands!

Posh looks sheepishly at the monster from the doorway. With none-to-subtle body language he tries to imply this was all somehow Numalar's idea.

"Done now are we?" The dry-rotting horror asks politely. "Clearly the place has gone to pot if this many of you survived. Probably time for a restocking. Any volunteers?"

It leers or maybe smiles.

perform (comedy): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Somehow the thing makes it seem funny.

Well to everyone except Scarlet, who is nearest and can see it up close, and see the things wriggling in the gaps of its teeth.

Scarlet - Aura of fear, Will save DC 16. or be frightened for 1d4 rounds. This may effect your next save.

"No? Well then get out!" The thing's voice booms like thunder. A wave of northern lights rushes from it and engulfs the party.

Everyone - Teleporting burst (SU) Will save DC 18. If you succeed, congratulations, you get to stay where you are. If you fail: First Roll a d12, second, then make a Survival check DC 13. Don't forget to roll for Luna as well. If you don't make the Survival check you can get your bearings after one round, so long as you do not roll a 1 on your d12 roll. It is an area you haven't discovered yet.

reflex save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

will save (Alia): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
will save (Posh): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 *Poof*

d12: 1d12 ⇒ 6 survival: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0 Posh needs a round to remember where he is--cube central!

reflex save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

It nimbly evades the worst of the fire.

perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34

"mIv tIn vItuQchoH nuqjatlh? vaj pa' reH vInID pagh." Comes the thing's easy reply. "'ej naDev loS jIH bIHegh joq SoH qet chaH muja' Ha' mephits. vup qar. porgh, troll ghap ghom vIvoqHa' 'ach?"

Draconic:
"Invisible 'ay? No one has ever tried that before." Comes the thing's smooth sarcastic reply. "And here I was waiting for the mephits to come tell me they'd killed you, or run you off. Pity really. Have any of you met the maiden, or the troll yet?"

His Draconic is slightly archaic.

"BLAST!! THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO DO THAT."

Celyne and Posh The team-up movie we've been waiting for!

Alia of the Blade wrote:
@GM: If Celyne is in the dark because everybody else got ported away with their light sources: I did express my intent to cast light for her..."

Intentions. Road to the Nine Hells. That sort of thing.

"I agree, Skulls are sooo last century." Posh comments with a laugh

And then he winks out of existence, everything goes dark for a second, and reappears with his magically illuminated rapier 1d8 ⇒ 4 facing the wrong way (facing the wrong way--yes, I know there is no facing) right next to the looming horror!

Celyne, Lunar Oracle (without a light spell ;)) may restate her actions if she like, otherwise she might proceed even faster to the exit. Now all she has to do is outrun Posh....

"IRONY?!! YOU WERE BEING IRONIC?! YOU WERE MAKING (PARDON THE PUN, HEH) LIGHT OF THE SITUATION!! HEH HEH HEH. IT HAS BEEN EVER SO, SO LONG SINCE I HAVE HEARD COMEDY HERE!!" The dry-rotted thing booms down at Posh. His gaze wanders up to Celyne. "DOES THE GIRL--DANCE?!"

Posh That second-to-last save was against the crypt thing's fear aura. You are now frightened and must try to flee from it for the next four rounds. Though Celyne would get an attack of opportunity should you try to run past her without dodging. ;)

I got 5 over the DC. Anything else I might now? Weaknesses?

Magic and the obvious. Bet that masterwork mace looks pretty good right now. :)

Also, there are no obvious crossbows (maybe under cobwebs and bones, but nothing out in the open). The skeleton has a fool's scepter (a rod with a whimsically carved fool's face and three-bell cowl as its head) in its hand. It's too tall to be Posh's attacker, who was a capital 'S' Small humanoid. This one is Medium-size.

Group Initiative:

Alia's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Celyne's Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Luna's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Numalar's Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Poshment's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Scarlet's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Sir Didymus' Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Zokon's Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Fear Aura The crypt thing rises from the throne! Zokon (shaken), Numalar (shaken), Didymus, Celyne (doesn't look like I ever got a will save vs creepy dungeon (Sept 4)--amended below--currently you are shaken), Scarlet, Will save DC 16 or be frightened for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds. This overrides the previous shaken effect. After 4 rounds those who are shaken go back to being shaken except for Zokon (his was a shorter duration shaken). He's just fine.

Remember being shaken effects saves.

Celyne's previous Will save v creepy dungeon art: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

The horror rises swiftly from it's throne and looms large from it's dais. "IMPERTINENCE!! UNGRATEFUL GUESTS!! OFF WITH YOU!!" A wave of energy like an angry Aurora Borealis sweeps outward in all directions from the mostly-skeleton. It washes over the party like a ghost tide. "DO THEY NOT STILL TEACH MANNERS THESE DAYS...."

Teleporting Burst (Su) Will save DC 18. If you succeed, congratulations, you get to stay where you are. If you fail: First Roll a d12, second, make a Survival check DC 15. Don't forget to roll for your animal companions as well.

"HEH HEH HEH HEH. VERY WELL...." The eyes of the skeleton on the throne light up with an eerie, blue witchfire. It raises it's head creakily from its chest and regards the party.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Knowledge it Power If (and only if) you have ranks in Knowledge (arcana or religion) you may make a Perception or Sense Motive check (DC 14).

If you SUCCEED at the Perception/Sense Motive check, you can make a second roll using Knowledge (arcana or religion) (DC 15) to reveal BOTH of the spoilers below IN ORDER.

If you FAIL at the Perception/Sense Motive check, you can still make a second roll using Knowledge (arcana or religion) (DC 15) to reveal ONLY THE FIRST spoiler below.

1:
OMG! It's a Lich! You've heard stories about the Whispering Tyrant. You know what's going to happen! You're all gonna die!

2:
Wait! It is only feigning lichdom, actually it is an only slightly less dangerous crypt-thing. Crypt-things are skeletal undead created to guard catacombs, crypts and dungeons. They have the ability to bend space and can create a blanket teleportation effect that can jaunt would-be tomb-raiders away to distant, random parts of the dungeon they inhabit. Crypt-things are also much stronger than they appear and can tear a person apart with their bare claws.
