I think Oterisk and I were twins and he absorbed me while in embryonic form. Rolling certainly provides some natural selection in the process :-)

Male sorcerer planned. Aquatic or similar.


Intimidate to get the group moving, a CMB grapple roll to grab one, and a STR check to possibly delay the falling rocks to give others more time. Those are my suggestions.


Toby rushes in to help the prisoners.

Actually, Toby went before the monsters.
Toby steps to the side to flank with Aden and hits with his one-handed grip.

To hit/damage with staff 1d20 + 7 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 2 + 2 = 191d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Toby hits the spider for 11, if any spider is still up, he casts Daze at spider with Will DC 15 (lose std action)


That most bodacious channel puts me back to full health. I have no way to affect the swarm. If we can't damage them, maybe we run away.FORT SAVE 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15


The madwand shift his staff into a one handed grip and charges the closest spider. He tries to get off a spell as he closes.

His daze spell whiffs as he can't keep concentration in the heat of the battle.

If Toby gets a chance, he charges a centipede.

Toby tries to engulf the most centipedes with a spray of color.
Cast color spray 15 foot range 90 degree arc. About 7 five foot squares targeted. DC 13 Will save.

What have I got us into?


I can see how this 'oath' will rescue kids, but there has got to be a better way.

After following his friends and feeling helpless, Toby falls into a despondent funk. The encounter outside did nothing to improve his spirits.

The Madwand awakes, disoriented by recent devlopments.
"I am losing it. If I do not get straight answers, see rational, tangible creatures, or feel some sense of accomplishment, I don't know what I will do."

Toby gets his staff out and holding out to both sides of him, 'sweeps' the area for the creature.


Wearing light armor, Toby easily keeps up and makes sure he yells so the others can follow. "Come back heeeeere."
