Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen will move to help Chuffy down so he doesn't hurt himself by falling, but only after frowning and turning to Lillith "After Bawldok, don't let him escape. Don't kill him."

Lillith moves just as fast as Ira... lets see who catches him first!! Taking the +2 you offered Ira, subtract if you won't give it to kitty.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Oh godddd it's just enough if she gets the bonus too!

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen moves to run through the kobold in front of him with his spear.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 191d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
provided thats enough to kill him...
Tensen shouts at his companion "Quickly Lillith, get the one with the fire!" The lioness jumps at the kobold, trying to tear his throat out.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 161d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
If its not enough, Lillith will finish off the one in front of Tensen after he steps away.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen roars loudly at a chance to prove himself against the scaly ones! Both he and Lillith move into to the closest kobold and attack.

Tensen 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 61d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Lillith 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Assuming that 7 dmg from the Lioness is enough to kill one, otherwise she gets grab too :)

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Whew!! Yesterday was exhausting. Got up at 8am to go get the moving truck and one of our helpers. Started shortly after 10.. Moving two people into one place is a LOT more work than we realized, didn't finish until after 4! We even had 7 helpers. We are nicely settled in our new basement suite and super happy. It will be a few days before I finally get my office area back together, let alone get my computer setup, but my partner has a laptop thank goodness.

Should be able to resume regular posting from here on out.. At least tensen had an excuse as to why he didn't get in there quickly :P

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen and Lillith move to rush into the fray... Only to find out they've missed the entire thing already. Tensen growls quietly "Blasted tunnels, I was not made to fight in here! I will make sure my hampered vision does not affect me again. Visibly frustrated and tense, Tensen feels incredibly out of his environment; literally in the sense that he is used to being under the open sky, and metaphorically as he seems to currently be prey to the Kobolds.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen is almost as blind as a bat in here. I do conveniently have Light prepared, though.

Tensen mutters quietly to himself as he realizes he is the weak link in the group at the moment. "Blasted caverns..." With a quick wave of his hands and some quiet chanting in a language foreign to all present, a light begins to shine on the tip of his spear. "My eyes are not built for tunnels. It may be best if we let the green one a bit more distance from us, perhaps 20 or 30 feet, so that we don't give him away too quickly."

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen has about a +5 to perception.. Not bad I guess.

"That's fine.. All you need to know about traps is that they hurt. And sometimes pretty bad. The green one will lead the way I suppose. We shall march in the order of: Chuffy, 10 paces behind will be Ira, then Finn, then Bawldok, then Gimlett, then myself and Lillith will take up the rear. If anybody has suggestions to how to travel safer then speak now." Tensen will wait until everybody has entered the dungeon then follow behind.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

So - I'm moving in about 9 days. So for the next two weeks my posting will be spotty as best. When in doubt, Tensen will follow Finn around and agree with her decisions.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen gives Bawldok a small grin and nods in the direction of the rock he spoke of. "You can go first. If you hadn't noticed, our little group is built for the outdoors. A bandit such as yourself must be good at sneaking and dealing with.. Inconveniences?"

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

"I say we go on ahead, the day still has many hours and we can make haste for the kobold warren. We will take Bawldok as our 'prisoner' for now. If you can keep your self alive as we fight our way through the warren, you will earn your freedom. Lillith will be MORE than happy to keep him company if he has a turn on watch... She hasn't tasted human flesh in a long while. With the last sentence, Tensen gives Finn a sly wink.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

We also have 2 "good" teams which means that the wilderness SHOULD never stay dangerous for long :P

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Yup, thats me :) It's been super fun so far. The players seem to have a good chemistry. Just had one of our two front liners drop out.. Any other character leaving and I would have kept going. But in a party of 6 with one melee.. Thats not good news :P

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Shameless plug that my Kingmaker game has 1-2 open spots. Really enjoying the game here thus far and would love to see some of you more often!

Linky!

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Very very busy day, may not be able to post more than this. Tensen approves of any decisions made by Finn

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen shifts from foot to foot, not quite sure what to do. He is conflicted between bringing the man in, and receiving a bit of information on the area. In the end, he gives the man a cold look as Lillith pads up quietly next to him, and rests his hand on the great cats head. "Now.. tell us everything you know."

Male Human Lion Shaman 1
Ira Oniborn wrote:
Well, you certainly can't let any information gained from peeking affect character decisions, that's just poor form.

^This. I just enjoy seeing what everybody is up to. Metagaming can kill a game.

And Rosa.. The good guys have no agenda. And I do us injustice by calling us the good-guys. I think 4/5 of us are Neutral lol.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Goblins are HARDLY an army...
Good guy Chuffy > all your goblins! I may need to take that level of ranger faster than I thought to take Favored Enemy (Goblin)...!
But really, don't hurt the forest. I don't want to have to burn down your new fort :( From what I can tell of Finn and Chuffy the convo would go down something like this:

Tensen: "Guys we should burn down the evils teams new base - they're logging the whole wilderness to build it!"
Chuffy + Finn: "BURNINATE THE COUNTRYSIIIIIIIIIIDE!" followed by many high fives and cheering.

What kind of company have I chosen ._.
And yes, all rivalry is completely in character! And quite fun haha

I truthfully intend on picking up a new party each time I head back into town, asking 1 or 2 to stay with me of the "stronger" members. Building a fantastic team is slow work! Survival of the fittest, my friend.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen looks apprehensive about the situation, shifting from foot to foot, trying to decide what to do or say. "We came for the bounty. If nothing more than to laugh in Gaius' face when we bring it in, I intend to finish the job. Whatever happens to you AFTER that, though... Why, I know a goblin that seems to like chaos and craziness... He may be willing to spring you. Even MORE win-win."

Bumpity bump.. bump bump! JOIN UP, I need more people to play with!

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Dear evil team,

Irony won the day for the good team it appears. While giving up the race to explore the trail left behind found by a sock in the woods, think we found the bounty.

Haha :)

Sincerely,
The good guys.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen puzzles for a moment at the question before asking "...Bawldok Greenham? If that IS you - then we can kill you, get the half reward, AND take your stuff. If you remember what we said earlier we are more interested in information than gold." He gives the man a moment to respond, as well as give the other members of the party a chance to chime in.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

I guess I'll assume that since they just took a move action that it was a full withdraw, and no AoO :(

Tensen and Lillith continue after their respective quarries.

Tensen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 201d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Lillith:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 81d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen points to the left hallway and bellows "Lillith, get 'em!" before running down the right hallway.
Lillith's speed is 40 and Tensens is 30. If they encounter an enemy they will attack!
Lillith attack and damage:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Tensen attack and damage:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 91d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
What awful awful rolls... blah.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Sense Motive:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Going to assume with my decent role that Tensen could get the idea that they're lying - it was pretty obvious to begin with, lol
Strength check to kick in the door:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
From the shack description the "simple door DC13" is likely to be most appropriate, forgive me if it's not...
With a great kick, Tensen smashes the door in with a roar. "You're right, you probably WILL die soon! Now, THE TRUTH!" Tensen moves to take a step into the house, with Lillith right beside him.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Tensen doesn't hear about the gold

As the door opens, Tensen stands as tall as his frame allows and scowls at the man who can be seen through the crack. "I am Tensen. And I have little patience for somebody who would defile the wilds with their man-made garbage." He holds up the sock for the man to see. "I demand that you answer for this at once. I would speak to whoever is in charge here. I would also know why you have a house so deep in the woods."

Tensen seems to have absolutely no tact when he speaks, which might signal somebody else to step in before he accidentally is TOO forward.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Boldly, Tensen walks up to the door of the cottage and knocks, spear and shield in hand. Lillith pads up beside him. "I would speak to the owner of this sock!" he proclaims loudly, so that those inside may hear.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen turns to face Ira with a completely serious look on his face. "They left their garbage in the wilds. I mean to find out why." He holds up the sock to remind Ira of what they had found.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen stands next to Lillith, looking impatient as he watches Chuffy sneak from window to window, trying to mime what he has seen. "This is ridiculous... There are 5 of us plus the animals, we should just knock on the door and speak to them. In a fight I am most certain we could take them!"

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen plays with his beard for a few seconds, pondering how to procede, before he looks down at Chuffy. "Green skins are known for being especially sneaky, go take a look through the windows and tell me what you can see?"

We wait on Chuffy!

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

As far as Tensen is concerned, there is no more race between us and the evil team. I vote we always rest, never any forced marching. Other than that we will continue to follow the trail until we find who made the tracks!
Survival to follow tracks (Lillith):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Plus she has scent.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen gives a big shrug, curious as to why he is being asked to decide the direction of the party. "We are likely to lose the scent if we continue towards are location." He pauses to think for a moment before nodding. "We will follow this trail, none should leave their man-made belongings in the wilds. Green one, lets send the animals to lead the way." Lillith gives a great roar, seeming excited to hunt, and begins to follow the scent trail.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Looks fine to me. Seems kind of a low chance to find something that may be in a hex, though. To me that would be what the perception checks would be for, or at least more like an 80% chance instead of only 66.6%. Otherwise why bother spending a whole day exploring a hex if you're not guaranteed to find anything?

If you have access to the Kingmaker book 1, it has some very detailed information about hex-ploration.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen lets Lillith get a good sniff of the sock they found on the second day, that she may be able to detect the scent if she finds it again.

Chuffy I think you over-estimate the abilities of your purchased wolf.. He has really no way to communicate with you because of his low Int of 2. Everything you want him to do either needs to be a trick he knows, or you need to make a handle animal check.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

alright, well our plan is still to fully explore each he along the way. We are waiting in you GM to let us know what we find so we can proceed!

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen stretches out next to Lillith at the end of the first day of travel, seemingly much happier in the wilderness than he was in the confines of the tavern. "I would not follow the scaled ones... Chuffy has the truth about them. We also are in a bit of a race, it seems, to collect this bounty. But why not take the time to really... subjugate the wilds while we are out here! Tensen lets out a booming laugh, as he references the contract that Gaius had luckily crossed Finn out of.

How do you want to rule the days where we get really really high Survival checks for foraging food? Extra day of rations? This is the only way I plan on actually collecting food for my character, so it would be nice to have a couple days of stock..
Edit @Ira: yeah I figured we may as well roll all the important checks up front, to make things a little easier on the GM. You should go ahead and roll or assist for the exploration each day.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

As long as Finn consents, as the party seems to follow one of the two of us around, we will continue in the SW-NW pattern until we reach the goblin lair, or find something more interesting. Presuming that we will fully search each hex, here are the rolls for each day.

Survival for 2nd hex exploration:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18; Survival 10
Survival for 3rd hex exploration:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 101d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16; Survival 12
Survival for 4th hex exploration:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20; Survival 10
Survival for 5th hex exploration:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 211d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20; Survival 23
Survival for 6th hex exploration:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 261d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8; Survival 26

And food... not assisting this time, separate checks on each day.

Survival for food 2nd hex:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 161d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7; Lion is sad
Survival for food 3rd hex:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 181d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20;
Survival for food 4th hex:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16; Tensen is sad
Survival for food 5th hex:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 121d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22;
Survival for food 6th hex:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 181d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20; Lots of food this day!

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Both Tensen and Lillith have ranks in survival, and are happy to forage for food. I actually did not buy any because I imagine they are quite self-sufficient when they are out in the wilderness.
Ira also has ranks in Survival, don't forget. For now, we should assume that Gimlet is following as he posted to leave with us in the tavern thread...

Tensen checks out the tracks and gives a quiet scoff. "Some prey to match the size of the majority of our companions. I think it would be wise for us to start a map and fully explore each area. As it stands there is no record of what lays in the wilderness."

If the party agrees to fully exploring the hexes, here are the survival checks. Lillith has an Int of 4 and can understand commands and to my understanding, communicate non-verablly since she is so smart. I will roll an assist from her if thats okay.

Survival check for 1st hex (Tensen, Lillith):
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 151d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Thats a total of 17 for my exploration check!

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen strides up, shortspear in one hand and light wooden shield strapped to the other. "Ready to go, finally?"

Lillith pads up beside him; the lioness strikes an imposing figure and looks at Finn with her big, brown eyes. She moves towards Finn and gives her a playful bat with her paw, rolling onto her back. She gives a small roar, begging to be scratched.

Tensen smiles a bit at the great cats antics. "She seems to like you already, good. Earn her trust and she may even let you ride her." Tensen taps his foot with a slight impatience and wonders aloud, "Now where is the small one with the mask.. As soon as he is here we can set off."

Starting to like the rival groups we got here, the goodie goodie and the evildoers

Most of us are actually neutral! We have LN, N, CN.. and two gnomes! Should be a funny group with 3 hyperactive short ones, a loud smelly lion man, and a quiet tiefling.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen lets out a great yawn as he enters the common room of the tavern, looking quite surprised he is one of the last up. "Good morning, small ones!" Tensen shouts out to the gnomes. "Quiet one, I never got your name before heading out last night."

He quickly takes note that his party members are getting ready to leave and nods at Gimlet. "I am ready to leave anytime. Lillith should be able to scrounge us up some food. As for supplies, I only carry the basics with me." He hands Finn a small sack, holding 35gp. "If you think we should need anything else, pick it up for the group. I will be waiting on the outskirts of town with Lillith, ready to leave. I'm sure she grows impatient, ready to hunt. Bring the green one with us, and our group will have no trouble reaching our destination." After waiting to get Ira's name, Tensen heads out the door to find his companion and wait outside the city.

Mothers day means not a lot of posting - presume I am ready to go when the group is! Finn, buy anything you deem necessary. I am also quite under my carrying capacity if you need me to carry anything.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

I love Chuffys humor. If we are still allowed a party of 5 I say come find us in the morning. I promise I won't feed Chuffy to the lion.

Fionnbharanel wrote:
but if the others don't want him, chuffy might end up with us after all - it can't hurt to have a ranger along after all

We have a druid and a barbarian! I guess hogging all the wilderness types COULD make it easier to beat those city slickers in the race for the bounty :P

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Chuffy seemed too distrustful to bring with us :( And after chatting away excitedly with the 'paper coward', well what was my poor druid to think. I've always had a distaste for gnomes in my home game (thanks to a specific player ONLY playing over-exaggerated gnomes).. And here I am happily wandering off with two of them :P

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen nods at Ira and grasps her forearm. "It is settled. The small ones and I will meet you back out here in the morning to head for this bounty. Goodnight."

Tensen follows the goblin, who is following Finn. He gives the goblin a poke with the butt of his spear as he starts chattering excitedly again. "Green one... In case I was not direct enough, we are travelling without you. Go make your strange dealings with the other of your kind, that paper coward. It seems he has recruited another hellspawn for his expedition. Tensen gives Finn a nod as he starts to head for his own room for the night. "If he does not leave you alone, come fetch me. Lillith has not tasted goblin in some time." With one last cold glance at Chuffy, Tensen heads off.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Starting to look rather frustrated as everybody is speaking languages he recognizes, but does not understand, Tensen lets out a roar. "ENOUGH! We have not even left yet but there are already clear divisions in those who are here. The goblin can go with the paper coward. Small ones, you come with me." Tensen turns around, staring down the newest one to enter the tavern. After his routine stare-down while he sizes her up, he walks brusquely towards her. "Quiet one. If you are seeking this bounty, you may join with the small ones and I. Leave the demon and the goblins to their own vile deeds. I am Tensen. And I am growing quite tired of this tavern already.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen snorts derisively at Gaius, not backing down an inch. "You would do well to watch how you speak to me. Out in the wilds the predator can quickly become prey.. I will not sign your paper. I see you carry a bow - so you hide behind not only paper but the real fighters as well."

Tensen crouches down next to the masked gnome. "I would have your name. And then, we set out with Finn and Lillith. It would be wise if we could grab the company of one more... But it sounds like we may have a race on our hands! Especially if that coward thinks he has what it takes to tame the beast that is the wilderness, hahaha! I will happily take us out that way."

His wild green eyes float over to the new goblinoid that was excitedly questioning Trope. "With all that chatter you may well fit in with the other small ones I seem to be setting out with. You have the scent of somebody who knows the wilderness, join us and make this adventure even easier than it needs to be!"

Tensen takes a seat next to Finn and listens to what advice Trope may have about venturing out west.

Well at least now there is no party of 5 :P

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen gives the new gnome with the Ligre mask a strange look before giving him a big smile. "A strange combination of animals, but both are fierce predators! If you do them justice I will most certainly set out with you. My skills in the wild are unrivaled - I can get us anywhere we need to be and keep us safe along the way."

He turns his attention back to Finn. "She is outside, yes you can meet her once we are ready to go. She is a proud warrior, but is often playful and would give you a ride if you dared to hop on.." he trails off and gives Finn a wink.

"Although the two of you are small, you seem to have the heart of a lion! I would go out with this strange masked gnome who has yet to introduce himself, and Finn as well should you choose. A man who hides behind papers to protect himself is not much a man at all, and this hobgoblin is quickly losing friends.. Shall we strike out right away? Or shall we wait on another to accompany us?"

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen lets out a booming laugh as the two comment on his scent. "If your nose is already bothered, you will hardly last any time out there. I am Tensen, a shaman raised among lions. Lillith, my companion, sits outside eager to hunt. And if you think I have a strong scent, wait until you break camp with an animal for weeks on end! I will not linger here long - just long enough to gather companions for a hunt."

Tensen glances over at the posted capture request and smiles down at Finn. "Even a small one like you thirsts for adventure, it seems. If you are leaving promptly I will join, as soon as I get an answer from he would who lead. Fear not, small one, I have many doubts that the powers I call upon would overlap those given to you by your gods."

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

A man preceded by his musty scent, Tensen approaches the table where he sees a few individuals talking about an exploration into the wilds. His vivid green eyes look over each of them standing there, seemingly sizing them up. He shakes some of the dirt and twigs out of his untamed shoulder length blonde hair before picking up the contract and giving it a read.

"Hmm.. You think you even know the first thing about the wilderness? Answer me this, hobgoblin, what makes you so certain you are strong enough to subjugate it? How much time have you spent out there, really?" Tensen stands impatiently, continuing to try and assess Gaius' strength.
