Male Goblin Ranger 1

Snapping a salute to Tensen, Aye Aye! Chuffy directs nose to follow Lillith, Nasledovať. Sledujte. Opatrne.

Perception, to notice anything as we follow the scent. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Survival, to find a visible trail. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Chuffy stays atop Nose through this time.

Chuffy is able to pick up a trail of light footprints leading south. The party follows the footprints for a couple more hours before they begin to tire.

Chuffy:
Inspection of the footprints tells you that it has been about 24 hours since the prints were made, and when the walker left the pond, he weighed substantially more and traveled more slowly.

You are in the hex to the south of where you were, but you haven't found the end of the trail. Since you have been exploring all day, if you continue on without resting, you will have to make forced march CON checks.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

As far as Tensen is concerned, there is no more race between us and the evil team. I vote we always rest, never any forced marching. Other than that we will continue to follow the trail until we find who made the tracks!
Survival to follow tracks (Lillith):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Plus she has scent.

I have to agree with Tensen here... we go our own way and forget 'the race'. Rest when we need it, travel on our own schedule.

Female Hungerseed Tiefling Wild Rager 1

Yup, Ira doesn't really remember or care about a rivalry, out of sight out of mind. If we bump into the tieflings she might care, but otherwise not.

Alright, majority rules.

The party continues on to the south after a night with little incident. Early the next morning, they discover that the tracks have led to an old, one-story house in the woods.

Here's a map.

The black rectangle is the house, the notches in the walls are windows, and the door is one the side opposite you.

Not sure if she really has to or not, Finn whispers softly when she speaks, "Should we try to sneak up and look in the windows? Or just go around til we find a door. After all, whoever is in there could just be totally innocent of anything. Peeking in their windows might be considered rude" She gives a little shrug.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen plays with his beard for a few seconds, pondering how to procede, before he looks down at Chuffy. "Green skins are known for being especially sneaky, go take a look through the windows and tell me what you can see?"

We wait on Chuffy!

Male Goblin Ranger 1

Backtracking to when Chuffy discovered the tracks.
Spotting the prints, Hey! Hey! Everybody look at this! Thing went to the pond with shoes. I'd say about a day ago. When he went in, light on his toes, when he went out, heavy he goes. What did he take? Nobody knows?

After the party reaches the house.
Grinning up at Tensen, We are the sneakiest, but Finn is right, don't want people shooting at us for looking through windows. I'll sneak around the house, see what we can see, then tell you what I see. To NosePobytu. Sledujte.

goblin:
Stay. Watch.

Chuffy begins sneaking around the house staying within the trees/bushes where he can hide.
If it matters, he'll be heading party left around the house Stealth 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27 Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 If I see nothing or nothing happens while heading around the house, Chuffy will look through the window in front of him and Tensen.

Chuffy notes that the door to the house is in the center of the side opposite the party, and it is shut tight. When he peers through the window he sees

Chuffy:
2 Men sleeping on bed rolls on the floor of a room that appears to have once been a kitchen. There is a pile of armor and arms in the corner.

And the map.

Green halo means unidentified, blue is friendly, red is foe.

Male Goblin Ranger 1

Maptools is sweet! Thanks for these handy maps. Makes things much easier. By men, I assume you mean humans? Or is their race undetermined?

Hiding underneath the window, Chuffy gestures to the party, holding up two fingers, strokes his chin, then folds his hands under his head and closes his eyes. Pointing at himself, then to the next window, he mimes peering through the window. Chuffy will do this for the other three windows, then return to the party. Baring something happening, of course.

Finn watches Chuffy carefully then nods to herself, whispering, "I think he means 2 men sleeping, now he's gonna go check the next window." And she watches him indeed check the next window(s). I wish we knew who those men were. They could be criminals, even this Bawldok Greenham, or they could just be hunters or woodsfolk living out here. I sure hope Chuffy can learn more. Darn he sneaks good... wish I could do that.

Yes, humans.

Chuffy proceeds to check each of the 4 windows and finds another man, this one awake, but sitting and reading in a rocking chair, facing away from the window. In the 3rd room, Chuffy sees a pile of various trade goods, chests, and barrels. The 4th room is empty.

Check the link above for updated map.

Gimlet jokes, "I thought he meant two men with beards, now he wants to take a little nap. After he wakes up he will look through the next window."

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen stands next to Lillith, looking impatient as he watches Chuffy sneak from window to window, trying to mime what he has seen. "This is ridiculous... There are 5 of us plus the animals, we should just knock on the door and speak to them. In a fight I am most certain we could take them!"

Female Hungerseed Tiefling Wild Rager 1

Ira stands, sword ready in case of trouble, looking unconcerned.

"What are we hoping to find? The bounty man?"

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen turns to face Ira with a completely serious look on his face. "They left their garbage in the wilds. I mean to find out why." He holds up the sock to remind Ira of what they had found.

Male Goblin Ranger 1

Rejoining the group, Chuffy is almost vibrating with excitement. Two men in that room pointing the the appropriate window sleeping. That one has a man sitting by himself, and he is READING. Said with much disgust. Nobody in the front, but the room on the other side of the READING man has a bunch of stuff in it. Other one is empty.

Looking expectantly at the others, So, do we burn it down. Kill them and then burn it. Or are you big people going to do what big people always do. Talk first, then kill each other?

GM. Did I notice if any of the equipment was wet? Even if it was a day ago, somethings might still be wet, or have mud/muck/etc on them to indicate if they were in the pond.

The equipment did not spend any time in the pond, but there were a few buckets of water in the kitchen that must have been what they got from the pond.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Boldly, Tensen walks up to the door of the cottage and knocks, spear and shield in hand. Lillith pads up beside him. "I would speak to the owner of this sock!" he proclaims loudly, so that those inside may hear.

Finn joins the others at the door, standing beside Gimlet, but whispers to herself "I like Chuff's idea of just burning the place down." Her eye twinkle with excitement at the idea of burning something.

There's a sharp commotion inside the house after Tensen's proclamation.

Perception DC 13:
Quick! Get up! Get up! Someone's at the door. Hide the gold.

After a few seconds, the man who was reading cracks the door and looks out, obviously surprised to find the motley crew of gnomes, goblins, and lions at his door. Can I help you?

Male Goblin Ranger 1

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Looks like I don't hear anything. Hey Finn, if burning is your style. Zarongel could always use a arsonist. ^_^

Finn narrows her eyes as the door is opened. Hiding gold? These guys might just be miners, but it's more likely they are smugglers or bandits. She nudges Tensen gently but doesn't say anything, just hoping he heard. She thinks really hard at Tensen wishing he could hear her thoughts.

she's wishing she had telepathic powers right now

Female Hungerseed Tiefling Wild Rager 1

Ira follows slowly after the group, standing behind them all, still holding the greatsword casually.

I wonder what sorts of treasures and secrets we can find out here...

Distracted by her thoughts, Ira misses a clue of actual treasure.

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Tensen doesn't hear about the gold

As the door opens, Tensen stands as tall as his frame allows and scowls at the man who can be seen through the crack. "I am Tensen. And I have little patience for somebody who would defile the wilds with their man-made garbage." He holds up the sock for the man to see. "I demand that you answer for this at once. I would speak to whoever is in charge here. I would also know why you have a house so deep in the woods."

Tensen seems to have absolutely no tact when he speaks, which might signal somebody else to step in before he accidentally is TOO forward.

Finn is something of a diplomat and cringes a little at Tensen's brash opening, but she says nothing as of yet, since Gimlet piped up with something a bit more tactful. They may need me to speak up here, but let's see what these men have to say for themselves first.

The bandit is joined by his two companions, one of whom is holding a dagger. The reader says, "Err...thank you for finding that. I didn't mean to leave it out," as he takes his sock. To Gimlet, he adds, We don't know much about these parts. We're new here.

Gimlet points to his mask, "I wear a mask, you can be straight with me.

Bluff 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Um...no. I have no idea what your talking about. We're...um... The man with the dagger pipes up, loggers! The first man comes back in Yes! Loggers. We don't want any trouble, because we're... The third man pipes up Sick! Back to the first Yes, sick. Very sick. And contagious. You should go. We'll probably all die soon. And sorry for dropping the sock. The bandit quickly shuts the door in your faces.

Female Hungerseed Tiefling Wild Rager 1

Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Ira looks at her companions.
"I'm no expert on reading people, but that did not seem an entirely truthful explanation."

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Sense Motive:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Going to assume with my decent role that Tensen could get the idea that they're lying - it was pretty obvious to begin with, lol
Strength check to kick in the door:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
From the shack description the "simple door DC13" is likely to be most appropriate, forgive me if it's not...
With a great kick, Tensen smashes the door in with a roar. "You're right, you probably WILL die soon! Now, THE TRUTH!" Tensen moves to take a step into the house, with Lillith right beside him.

Male Goblin Ranger 1

After the man closes the door, Chuffy looks at Gimlet, People in masks cannot be trusted, and he's too tall to be straight with you. He'd have to bend. To Tensen, Next time let Ira or Finn talk. People like girls better, and don't shut doors in their face. To the group as a whole, I think they are lying. Loggers cut trees. There are no cut trees, and they don't look sick. Looking at the two big people like it is their problem, So what now?

Post was ninja'd by Tensen and Ira!
As Tensen kicks the door in, I like the now plan!. Chuffy, atop Nose, will run to the other side of the shack to: get out of the way of the big people, 'cause that is no place for a goblin, catch anyone who tries to flee, and shoot people through the windows.

Gimlet starts to cast enlarge.
full round action
"Ira, ready to be giant-sized. This door needs to open. We do this Chuffy-style."

Tensen, I generally don't like using sense motive at all in social circumstances. It seems so clunky. If you are suspicious that the men were lying, you don't need to make a roll for it. And, yes, that is a reasonable assumption to make for a door. Feel free to make assumptions like that.

EDIT: I forgot I was doing party initiative. Doy.

Initiative

Party:

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Enemies:

1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14

As Tensen kicks down the door, you catch a glimpse of one man running each way down the hallway, but the third one was already out of sight.

Map updated.

The men went first, running away, and Gimlet and Chuffy have declared their actions for this round.

Male Goblin Ranger 1

How do you figure the party initiative bonus?

Male Human Lion Shaman 1

Tensen points to the left hallway and bellows "Lillith, get 'em!" before running down the right hallway.
Lillith's speed is 40 and Tensens is 30. If they encounter an enemy they will attack!

Tensen attack and damage:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 91d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
What awful awful rolls... blah.

Finn is right behind Tensen going through the door, following Tensen, figuring in truth they both can take care of themselves but that Lillith is probably the tougher of the two. If she spots an enemy, she shoots a firebolt at him.

Female Hungerseed Tiefling Wild Rager 1

I actually made that sense motive check as a joke about Ira's low intelligence and utter lack of social skills, it certainly wasn't a circumstance in which it would have mattered, as we clearly heard them being dumb :P

Also, if Ira gets enlarged she won't fit in there, will she?

Ira, confused about why the group is suddenly on the offensive, nonetheless charges into the house, sword at the ready (assuming she can actually go into the house).

If she encounters an enemy,

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 6) + 9 = 20

Woah damage.

The loyal gnome follows behind- move-move 40' total behind the druid

I calculated the initiative bonus by averaging the party's individual bonuses, so having Chuffy on the team is like an automatic +1 to the group.

Ira, you can't fit if you're enlarged. But, there's not really enough room in there anyway to do much. Your best bet is to run around, but if you want to run inside after the rest, you can. Just retcon it. Hate to waste those beautiful rolls.

Tensen and Lillith burst into the house, chasing the men down. Both escape from their swipes. However, Fionn's firebolt strikes true, singeing the man on the right.

Man 1 continues into the back room on the left, and the 2nd man runs into the opposite room, still patting out small fires.

At the back of the house, you hear the 3rd man jumping out the window.

Since it's only a 20' move to the doorway, if she's within 25' of the guy, she'll send another firebolt his way. If he's more than 25' feet from the doorway, she'll double move to get closer

Chuffy continues around the house. Bow ready in case someone tries to flee. 50ft movement should place me within sight of the entire rear. If I see someone running, will shoot with bow. Next round direct Nose to charge attack, drop bow, and attack with lance. I think that should work. Tensen swoops into the room, following his adversary, and stabs out with his spear, running the man through the middle, killing him instantly.

Lillith continues to chase her mark, who evades her swipes deftly.

Fionn's firebolt doesn't matter since Tensen's enemy was dead.

Chuffy sends an arrow towards the man escaping through the window, and it nicks him on the bicep.

Ira and Gimlet still have turns this round.
