Tatanka will stop when the others begin talking about being watched. He looks around for where whatever is keeping an eye on them may be, thinking that this could be some kind of nature spirit. However, he is fully aware that it could be a number of other things as well.

Would Tatanka know roughly how common it would be for other Novans to know Common enough to write out a threatening note?

Tatanka will take a moment to look around for any of the books that non-Novans like to keep around. Whether or not he finds any, he then moves to the storage room, examining the cords of wood that the man kept in there. Examining them, he will attempt to determine if any of them are from trees that the abellok vine grows on.

"Yes, we succeeded in slaying these spiders." Tatanka will look around the room, peeking into the side rooms if he doesn't see anything in the central room. Once he is finished looking around, he turns back to the group. "What do we wish to do now?"

Tatanka, still concentrating on his spell that he has active, swings his staff once again at the spider that had just spat webbing at him. Then, whether or not it is still standing, he moves over towards the unconscious form of Blake, unable to do much to aid the unconscious man.

Hmmm, thought there were humans who shared the same territory with the elves, the Novans? Or did I misread that part? If there were no humans to create half-elves until around ten years ago wouldn't it be impossible for there to be half-elf PCs then as the oldest of them would be around 9?

Also, while I see that you figured something out, I feel that I should point out that Terra Nova has been in contact with Alderan for ~25 years by this point, not only 10 years.

Concentrating on maintaining his spell, Tatanka will move up towards the spider that had spat at him. Once he is next to it, he brings his staff down in a two-handed strike at the multi-limbed beast.

Would it be possible to close the door to the room that the other spider is in? Asking ahead of time so that I have a better idea of what to do on my turn.

Seeing that the room is still very dark inside, Tatanka focuses for a moment while holding his staff. Chanting softly in Druidic, he then thrusts his staff out towards the doorway. Shooting out from the tip of his staff are four green spheres, each shedding a bright green light as it moves into the hut. Slowing as they move, they each stop in a rough square in the center of the room, near the ceiling.

If the room is safe to enter:
Tatanka will move just inside the doorway, staying near the wall and stepping to the side.

If not:
Tatanka will drop one of his hands from his staff, pulling out a javelin from its quiver at his back.

Tatanka tries to quietyly crawl up next to Blake, keeping an eye on the building as Sakima scouts it out for any beings, threats or otherwise.

I believe that would be a perception and stealth for me, GM.

Apologies for the delay since my last post. I will try to let you know if there will be any sizeable delays in my posting again.

Another good thing to think of would be which alignments each deity would allow, important for clerics and champions (especially for determining which order they can be).

Tatanka looks at the drawing for a moment, taking in as many details of the plant as he can from the picture. The shape of the leaves, the support systems for how the vine holds on to what it is growing up, even the attempted coloring of the parts of the plant. "Tatanka knows this plant. My people call it abellok. Assuming we can get to a right area, Tatanka should be able to find some of this and bring it here, to help heal this man." He looks to the others who came from the tavern with him. "Tatanka could do this on his own, but it is always safer to travel in groups when going through unknown lands. Would you all accompany Tatanka, or would you prefer to remain here?"

Tatanka will watch the medicine woman work, helping in any way that he can while not getting in the way. When she asks what happened, he is glad that the others explain what happened, knowing that his command of the language they are using isn't the best.

Tatanka will have helped to carry the unconscious man. As they wait for a response from the house, he examines the various herbs that Sakima pointed out to him, glancing around at the other plants in the woman's garden, looking to see what all is there.

Tatanka rolls his shoulders back, a sign of uncertainty among his tribe and several others. "Tatanka is unsure about that. Perhaps these two who watched them would know. If not, perhaps we may need to go ask the Ra-Kep-Noth."

Glancing at the younger shaman next to him when he voices a question, Tatanka quickly replies.

Druidic:
"He should now."

He then turns back to the wounded man and the others clustered around the entrance to the inn. As the new figure approaches, he listens to what he says, trying to understand as much as he can. After the people are finished speaking, he says. "Tatanka has heard of the Ra-Kep-Noth tribe, the Black Hearts as you call them. They have lived in this area for several winters, as long or longer than you new people have been here." He frowns slightly, looking to Altherr and Roland. "Tatanka hasn't heard of takings like this before. Very strange. Why were you watching them?"

I am assuming that Tatanka know Common, but isn't fully fluent in it.

From your description, I am picturing the red moon as being a significantly smaller body, but with an extremely odd orbit, being pulled around by both the planet and the other two moons. It would therefore be sometimes really close and other times far away, looking like a simple star or comet.

As another question, which of the moons have the possibility of obscuring the others partially/fully? If the above about the red moon is something you wish to go with, then these are the options as I see them:

* Dark can obscure Silver
* Silver can obscure Dark

If not, then these are the options as I see them:

* Dark can obscure Silver and Red, Silver can obscure Red
* Dark can obscure Silver and Red, Red can obscure Silver
* Silver can obscure Dark and Red, Dark can obscure Red
* Silver can obscure Dark and Red, Red can obscure Dark
* Red can obscure Silver and Dark, Silver can obscure Dark

Seeing the wounded man, Tatanka begins reaching towards the herbs across his chest. However, taking in the state of the individual's health, he instead begins gesturing with his staff, making a circle through the air with the end of it. Speaking in a language that few of those present (except Sakima) understand, he calls upon the spirits of the forest to lend some of their strength to this man, and to tose of the grass to gift him a speedy recovery from his wounds. The staff suddenly begins tracing a faint green circle through the air, which grows inwards in a swirl of glowing green vines. Reaching his free hand through the circle, Tatanka grasps the greenness and reaches towards the man, touching him on his chest. The green light seems to go into the man's torso, before moving towards his injury. After a moment, the wound seems to start mending itself.

Here is a link to the current workup of a calendar with names that I have. On this, the months are for the most part named after The Eight, with some named otherwise for things I thought sounded good. They currently have some linguistic drift, but they could be changed to more literal namings.

(Currently, the sheet is set to view only. I can change that in the future if people want.)

GM, may I try working up at least a Novan calendar? If so, is the moon of this planet similar to our own (size, rotational speed, etc...)? Or does it synch up more with the standard months? (Also, is there only one moon?)

Since the Nameless One is a bit of different case, using The Eight for days of the week is a fairly good idea from what I can think of. That is assuming that the weeks are seven days of course. If they are a different number per week, then it would probably be better to use them for some of the months. Which would you prefer?

Tatanka walks towards the inn of Tanner's Crossing, unable to read the markings on the sign by the door. However, he can see the image of a wolf in white paint next to the words on the sign, and assumes that they are probably related. Making some minor assumptions there. Also assuming that while Tatanka can speak some Common, he doesn't read nearly as much of it.

As he approaches, he hears the call for help from the doorway and quickens his pace. Getting up there, he is somewhat surprised to see a pair of halflings. Looking them over, he sees an elf approach inside the inn. "Someone say someone injured? Tatanka can help. Tatanka knows medicine."

Appearance:
Tantanka stands at roughly 5'9", relatively short for the Novans of this region, and probably weighs in at around 140-150 lbs. His eyes are a dark brown, and his black hair is shaved above the ears, with the rest pulled back into a singular ponytail. His skin is a tanned Terra-cotta color, tanned a slightly deeper shade on his face and arms. What can be seen of his skin has a variety of markings, either primitive tattoos or brands on his skin. These are especially noticeable around his face and wrists, as well as some along his back (with one at the base of his neck that is particularly noticeable).

On each of his forearms, just above his wrists, are circular bands of intertwined black patterning, the left sharp and angular while the right is smooth and rope-like. Above these are ~2 inch long, 1 inch wide identical markings, more or less diamond shaped with a circle in the middle. His face has what appear to be deer antlers that begin at his cheekbones and continue up over his ears. On his forehead is an extremely intricate mark, incorporating what appear to be symbols, knotwork, and geometric shapes. At the base of his neck is some kind of tree or vine marking, with roots going down his back and branches or vines onto his shoulders and neck.
He is dressed in clothing made out of thin deerskin, with a sleeveless shirt covering his torso and pants going down to his sandal-shod feet. Over this he has a thicker set of leather armor, protecting his torso, abdomen, upper arms, and his legs, accompanied by a small 'helm' or hat of stiffened leather he can put on. At his belt is a stone dagger on one side and a metal hatchet on the other, as well as a pair of pouches behind the weapons. Crossing his chest is a leather strap, with small pouches and loops filled with plant matter of various kinds. On his back is a leather sack, filled with a variety of items. To its left is a quiver holding five stone-tipped javelins, while on its right is his Leshy Familiar, holding onto him with their head resting on his shoulder. In his hands he holds a gnarled staff, the bottom end well worn and the other somewhat heavy looking.

Don't feel obliged to change just because I've already got a leaf druid. I would actually love to RP those characters interactions.

I'd be willing to look into working on calendar names for this world. Would the two old world nations share a basic calendar setup and/or names? Also, would there be roughly the same number of days / months in the year?

Also, would the new world races have different calendars than the old world. I'm picturing at least the Novans and the Elves could have a more lunar based calendar than a solar based one, or something along those lines.

@letsuna, what order were you thinking of going? Tatanka is order of the leaf. Also, feel free to look through my backstory and make use of elements of it. If you want any help, or to build our backstories into each other, you can always send me a message!

Alright. My village is at least 8 days or so travel away, probably closer to 10 or 12. I did set it next to a river, so it might be along the one next to Tanner's Crossing or a tributary of it. Have you been able to look over my character yet?

In my character's backstory, I set his home village relatively close to this region. For scale, roughly how long would it take to travel from Redmont to Tanner's Crossing?

I (Art Burd) present Tatanka-Ptecila, Novan Druid. Backstory is in the profile, but I shall include it here as well. If you have any questions DM DoctorEvil, fire away!

Backstory:
Tatanka was born into the Hart-Restia-Iulan (Three-Prong-Stag) tribe close to twenty-five (a hand of hands) winters ago. They weren’t the strongest or largest of tribes, numbering in at fewer than ten hands (50) and often struggled to simply survive through some years. Their village was rather simple, consisting of a few hands worth (~10-15) of low buildings along one bank of a river surrounded by a low wooden wall. They were mostly dugouts constructed of timber frames, with roofs of sod and grass suspended over several layers of deerskin.

Of the area surrounding their village, the Three-Prong-Stag tribe controls a fairly average sized region around them. It extends to the forest to their west, at a distance of about (3-5 days) walking time. To the north and south, their territory extends a little farther going about (4-6 days) walking time to the north and (6-8 days) walking time to the south. To their east, their territory extends for about (8-10 days) walking distance, up to what is now the region of New Valeria.
They had several enemies, including the Green-Fang tribe in the forest to the west, the Ixil-Danag tribe to the south, and even a group of Orcs to the north. They would occasionally skirmish with these groups, over resources or territory. It was in one of these skirmishes with the Orcs to the north, when Tatanka was roughly (12) winters in age, that both of his parents were killed. As was the custom in his tribe, his raising was then given over to another member of the tribe. In this case, it was to the tribes priest, a shaman of the nature spirits who kept the world around their village happy. Over several years, as Tatanka showed some skill with shamanistic magic, the older man began teaching him how to call upon the spirits of the world, as well as of how to safely harvest the useful portions of plants without doing them lasting injury.
This training as the elder shaman's apprentice continued for several years, until at last it was time for his Uruk-Divak (a passage into adulthood / naming ceremony). It was a the culmination of the ceremony, with the sun setting behind the mountains far to the west and the full moon just coming up over the eastern horizon, that Tatanka summoned a nature spirit, channeling it into the form of a tiny Leshy creature. As such, he was given the Life-Name Ptecila (which roughly translates as Giver-Of-Life-To-Vines). After this, as his mentor was still strong with the ways of nature and unlikely to pass into the realm of the spirits just yet, Tatanka decided that instead of challenging the older man, he would travel the surrounding lands during the bountiful months, returning to the village during winter-time. This is what he did for the next few years, accompanied by his Leshy companion that he had named Pulu-Durat (~Grasping Vines).
However, as he approached the village later than usual one autumn, after the first snows of the year had fallen, he found the village abandoned, with broken walls and burned buildings, with no signs of any of his tribe present. Searching the village, he found only one clue as to what may have happened: a metal hatchet, painted with orcish symbols, embedded in the skull of his mentor's mostly skeletal remains. After performing the sending off ritual, ensuring that his mentor would receive a welcome in the spirit lands, Tatanka took the hatchet. Looking at the strange implement, he swore to himself that he would get vengeance on the orc who did this. First the green folk had taken his parents, and now his mentor. However, he knew that by himself he would be no match for an orc, let alone an entire warband or village of them.
Tatanka then spent several cold and miserable weeks in the village, gathering what few supplies he could find amongst the broken dugouts. After a time, he left the village, heading east to the lands of the strange newcomers. He had encountered them before - usually in chance encounters in the woods, or when the occasional merchant came by his old village to trade - so he knew the rudiments of their strange language, and a few of their customs.

GM Questions:
I have a few questions:
* Would you care if I set up a second alias for my Leshy Familiar?
* What season is it currently?
