Starflit seems temporarily dumbfounded that it's over. Eventually, she comes back to her normal self, and when Kyffin and Al suggest decompressing a bit at a pub, Starflits tags along, though she's no drinker nor (Yep--I'm gonna say it!) a social Butterfly. She tells the others that her plans are to visit the town of Thrushmoor to explain--at least to some extent--what has happened to Haserton Lowls and the larger world in general. She also meets with both Winter Klaczka and Cesadia Wrentz there to let them know that Lowls's former cronies--the incarcerated patients at the Briarstone Asylum that she'd pursued eastward--were no longer a threat to the world; in fact, they'd proven instrumental in bringing down mad Lowls and foiling his insane scheme.

From there, 'Flit says, she plans on returning to Corentyn to meet with her order there. She aims to brief her colleagues about the calamity that Lowls almost brought upon Golarion and then spend some time recording her experiences into the order's annals for posterity.

"Not sure what I'll do after that," she admits, running a hand through her hair. "Probably get a haircut," she laughs before again turning serious. "I guess I'll stay on the lookout for more threats from beyond. My organization knew that things lurked in that dark spaces between the stars but hoped they'd never threaten our world, at least not in our lifetimes. Now Lowls has proven that it's a very real possibility, and who's to say that there isn't another threat currently in the works...maybe even a Plan B from one of Lowls's cronies?"

The Black Butterfly's inquisitor gives each member of the group a big, fond farewell hug (Well...maybe a medium-sized one for Lothan) before parting ways with her comrades.

A quick congrats to mott, Kyffin, and Tristain for getting all the way through an AP together...as well as to the other players who played a part, both in crossing the finish line and moving the story in that direction before departing. That's an impressive accomplishment. It's been a joy playing with you all, and thanks for putting up with me when I went a bit flaky.

I'll likely do a wrap-up post in a day or three, with Starflit saying her goodbyes and well-wishes to the others, standing up Lothan on their date, etc. Then she'll head back to her Black Butterfly collective. She'll definitely put down her experience on paper, but for her organization's posterity--not for financial gain.

Again, big thanks to mott for running this AP (and inviting me to join), and I'd definitely be interested in a Hellbreakers campaign. I bought several of the Revised Core PDFs to finally make the switch to PF2 myself; then I bought the Daggerheart rules, convinced that Critical Role would be switching to that system for their Campaign 4. Now that they've revealed they'll be using the D&D 2024 rule system...I also bought the three core rulebooks for that system. If I carve out the time and have sufficient remaining brain cells for learning PF2 in more depth, I'd love to game with you all again.

Starflits attunes herself (and her greater bane ability) against evil outsiders and swings wildly at the Lowls-Turned-Whatever when it reappears.

Starflit calls out to Tristain, asking if he knows what type of monster Lowls has become, all the better to ready her greater bane ability for once the monstrosity returns to the here-and-now. She also heals up Lothan a bit, just to be on the safe side. Then she moves over to Al, starknife ready for some swinging.

Starflit recalls that blunt magical weapons can overcome a lich's damage resistance and calls that out to the others. She physically switches out her beloved starknife for a silver light mace her comrades may have never seen her wield before. At the same time, she mentally switches her Piercing judgment to Smiting. Lastly, she tries to tumble past the witch into position behind her...all the better to flank opposite Al and limit their foe's retreat options.

Through still shaken from whatever the witch attempted, Starflit fights of the worst of the effect. Activating greater bane (against evil outsiders), the inquisitor scampers closer to the witch (down 35 ft. and then 5 ft. to the right) and hurls her starknife at the witch, hoping to curve it toward the thing that was once Lowls next.

Starflit grits her teeth and covers up with her magic cloak as much as possible as the flame strike wracks her body with divine, fiery pain.

So that's what it feels like to be on the receiving end of that spell! she thinks as she fights through the pain. But that which does not kill you...makes your vengeance stronger!

The inquisitor's eyes narrow--unseen beneath the bugged-out moth eyes of her mask--as she casts her own spell. She'd planned on casting the very same spell that she and her allies had just tasted, but the cult leader beat her to the punch. I wonder how many of these fanatics have felt the righteous wrath of a flame strike themselves? A moment later, her own column of holy fire rips through the ranks of her foes, including their twisted leader.

Almost as an afterthought, she also invokes the judgments of Protection, Purity, and Healing.

Starflit positions herself at the rear of the group, casting see invisibility on herself and quickly scanning the area, just in case the rat or whatever is some sort of distraction or bait to get intruders to charge upstairs.

Starflit sees an easy out. Looking back and forth between where the other Tristain was and where the (presumably) real one now waits, Starflit deadpans, "Your hair doesn't look like what?" Holding in a smile, she then floats after Kyffin and Lothan.

As the party draws nearer the entrance, the inquisitor scouts a bit for traps.

Starflit moves over to Tristain, trying not to look at his hair. "You think maybe we're supposed to finish the ritual to move on?" She does her best to help.

Aid Another; I forget what skill gets used, but probably an auto-success at this point.

Starflit shrugs. "You think maybe that time guardian thing was here because there are two Kyffins and two Tristains present? At the same time...which they probably shouldn't be?"

Starflit casts flame strike, hoping it can get through the creature's spell resistance.

Starflit feels a sudden urge to attack Lothan but manages to barely resist the creature's moment of clarity confusion spell. Seeing Kyffin vanish, she fights off a feeling of panic and calls forth the judgments of Justice, Protection, and Purity upon herself. Moving behind Al, she then casts a spell (greater lend judgment) that grants the boons of those judgments to him as well.

Starflit says nothing but the expression across her face is easy to read: These guys were put in an asylum but Lothan wasn't??!!

I wish I'd explored the asylum before chasing after Al, Kyffin, and Tristain when I left Thrushmoor. Then again, maybe it's best I didn't see firsthand any of the horrors they were put through....

Starflit watches the strange figure depart. "But...I never had any amnesia...," she offers in a confused tone. With a smirk she adds, "Or if I did...I don't remember it."

Still paying attention, but I haven't leveled up just yet. Hopefully by tonight or tomorrow.

I'm currently a bit under the weather but will try to level up and re-engage by the weekend at the latest.

"I was wondering that myself," Starflit tells Al. "But we've got a more important task at hand than mere looting...."

The servant of the Black Butterfly does what she can to aid Tristain in completing the ritual.

Starflit, starting to get low on spells, asks Kyffin if the party still has some wands of CLW in reserve.

Starflit flies toward the spot where Kyffin fights the bhole single-handedly. When she gets within 30 feet of the beleaguered half-orc, she activates Freedom's Call.

Starflit takes a moment to call forth two judgments: Healing and Protection. Next, she casts a healing spell on herself. Then she flies quickly (and, I believe, still invisibly) back toward the battle.

Starflit cure serious wounds: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (5, 2, 2) + 15 = 24 +5 from the Healing judgment.

Not sure if Starflit would have to spend a full round to auto-escape from the grapple with Liberation or not. If not, she'll defensively cast invisibilty (auto-success with her +20 modifier) and try to escape by heading down, away from the others, if that's possible.

Likewise, Starflit hovers in the air, still cross-eyed and knock-kneed from the impact of the slimy tsunami. Much of the gooey cocoon that once had enshrouded her has melted away, no doubt due to her innate divine power that keeps her from having her movement prevented.

Starflit doesn't notice the monster's arrival until it's too late: the servant of the Black Butterfly is trapped within a cocoon of thick slime and must first extricate herself from the gooey prison if she's to again spread her proverbial wings and battle the horror.

I heard that myself yesterday, but I used my 20% off code (PaizoCon2025) to buy the NPC Core PDF and have been busy cutting, pasting, and formatting all that goodness into a document I can use for my own PF2 campaign-building.

Starflit, still coughing occasionally herself from her accidental inhalation of the cigarette smoke, gives Al a couple of slaps on the back. "I know those little things didn't generate any magical aura," she comments with a frown, "yet I can't help but think that there's some manner of curse on those 'cigarette' things."

Starflit takes a deep breath before nodding. "No time like the present...."

Quick note to help Kyffin, since 'Flit shared her judgments with him this round...here's what they do: Judgments: #2 of 5; purity (+4 sacred bonus on all saving throws (+8 against curses, diseases, and poisons)); protection (+4 sacred bonus to Armor Class (+8 against attack rolls made to confirm critical hits against the inquisitor...or the Kyffin))

Feeling Tristain's spell put fire into her legs, Starflit heads to her right to the tavern wall and then north as far as she can, ending up next to an organ or piano. From there, she casts searing light at the big ghoul.

"Aw...you don't need to show off in front of us, Grandpa. We already know you're a lot badder than you appear and can wipe the floor with anyone in this place."

Starflit will cast communal protection from evil on the party before they enter the establishment. 7-minute duration for Al; 2 minutes for everyone else.

Starflit grows frustrated with the strange language that Lothan and the ghoul are speaking and mutters under her breath, "When in Paris, do as the...Parisites do??!!" Then she casts comprehend languages on herself and prepares to translate for Tristain, Kyffin, and Al.

Starflit stands silently, her face looking a bit befuddled. To her ears, Lothan's words sound equal parts childishly goofy and strangely...sexy??!!

Wait--no! Uh-uh. NOTHING about Lothan was sexy. Strange? Sure. Sexy? No way!

Reigning in her chaotic thoughts, the stoic inquisitor of the Black Butterfly simply inquires, "So...what's the deal?"

Starflit joins the fray, adding bane (undead) to her magic starknife as she hurls it at both guards. She catches the weapon as it returns to her.

I was going to point out that, depending how far 'Flit is from the Leng ghouls, there might be some range penalties to her attacks, but I believe the unusually high rolls make that point moot. I didn't figure Point-Blank Shot's bonus into the attack or damage rolls.

Starflit seems absolutely flummoxed by the words of Lothan and Tristain's bonking. Nonetheless, she gives Kyffin a quick nod and says, "Sounds good to me."

No real interest in anything from Starflit either.

Starflit nods at Kyffin's words. "I still have all of my most powerful spell slots remaining, if we want to at least start heading toward the next star stella."

Starflit talks through some theories about how all the weird equipment in this area might function. She sincerely hopes his brain has returned from its weird excursion into mathematics and Feline Reality theory.

I'll have 'Flit use the Aid Another action to help Tristain with a Knowledge (arcana) check; I'd need to roll a 15+ for her to hit the DC herself, and I don't think the Dice Roller likes me that much.

'Flit could also use ears of the city to try to gain a clue or two. I'll make her rolls in a spoiler below, just in case we opt to go this route--as I'll be busy later today and may not post again.

Starflit moves up to the pentagon door and stands there, hands on her hips, examining it. Well, if you add the 3 numbers on each side of the pentagon's five sides, you get 19--th number in the middle. And you could exchange the positioning in certain ways to keep the total at 19, so long as you keep the 'corner' numbers' and 'middle numbers' consistent. Hmmm...."

Turning to Lothan, she asked, "Did we find all ten numbered chips? If not, which ones are we still missing?"

Starlit casts detect magic and aids Kyffin in his search.

Starflit heals herself multiple times, still looking a bit ragged when she's done. Her Goth Moth mask and wig combo has been pretty much destroyed by all the firebombs, so she rips off its remnants and prepares to go it the rest of the way unmasked. With her plain, simple face, the inquisitor of the Black Butterfly no longer looks intimidating in the least. Giving a wan smile, she offers, "Well, at least I don't look as weird as I did before...."
