Solstice emerges from the smoke before it has had a chance to clear. She looks at the beast dubiously. "Why do I have the feeling this isn't over?" She checks a little more closely to see if the thing is regenerating, like a troll or something.

Solstice nods shyly, but when she realizes that it might be hard to see her, she speaks up. "I agree. The beast will be sure to fall under that onslaught, though I think I should pitch in a little bit. You made it to the plane of fire?" Her idea of pitching in is to lob a volley of darting motes of energy that weave though the battle to impact the enormous creature. (i.e. magic missile) 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 3) + 4 = 14

Remember to add the bonus to Crowe's first attack for being invisible, provided it helps. Solstice quickly casts a scorching ray on the massive target, hoping that she can feel out whether the thing is resistant to fire or not with a cheap spell. to hit ranged touch, inspired +2, in combat: 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 2 - 4 = 11
vs. spell resistance: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Then she does the sensible thing and runs back to hide in the smoke.

Solstice walks up to the barbarian and says, "I always did cheat at hide and seek." Besides that she also casts invisibility on herself, elemental body, protection from energy (cold), and haste (one round before the door is opened).

The added mage hand does make things a little interesting, but the objects don't stay airborn for long. It's obvious that she has never done this before. But she sticks to it and the parties efforts are accompanied by the sounds of pieces of furniture clattering to the ground. "Show me how it's done, will you? Except for that whole upside down thing. I'd be just happy with keeping three balls in the air for more than 2 seconds without using a spell."

I mean, why not have a symbol that makes more sense. Like a honkin' battle axe for a god of war, or some bandages for a goddess of healing? Why all these weird shapes?" Solstice finds a spot to perch and watch the others do their thing, casting mage hand and then trying to juggle some rubble with her three hands. "Hey, Crowe. I've always wanted to learn how to juggle. Seein' as we have to sit here and wait while the others figure this stuff out, how about you join me?"

Solstice, ever softly spoken and quite used to norther barbarian bombasticness, responds to Crowe's complaint. "Not yet, Crowe. I think that as we locate its sources of power we weaken it. Eventually, though, it will be able to get to us and then you will be able to fight." ... "Wit respect," she adds, not noticing how ironic it is for her to suggest this, "You may want to invest some time into non-combat oriented skills though." Solstice is not the most leaned of folks and has nothing to contribute. She does fire up a detect magic and scans things to point out what is magical and what is not. Solstice's eyes brighten at the sight of the rubies. They are her favorite gemstone and she is always looking to accessorize with them. She also casts detect magic and scans the items, leaving Ingrge and Shonne to their own devices. Some spellcraft rolls as needed. she's not very good at it though.

Moving the discussion to Discussion Solstice is staying away from burning the higher level spells if a lower level one will do. I think Monkeyfish would do the trick and be a bit more cinematic too. But speaking of haste and invisibility, Solstice cast both before the chase started. Then again maybe she never got her haste spell off or maybe it ran out before the chase scene started. Are they active and do they have any effect and how many chase scenes would they last? Is each scene a round? In a chase you can do anything that takes a standard action and that applies, right? No full round actions?

Solsitce gapes as the some of the party seems intent on running towards the beasts source of power instead of away from it. Then, to make matters worse, Skivven starts pouring out smoke so that it will be impossible for the front liners to protect the more vulnerable members, namely her. Particularly if it can smell things well like some beasts do. Instead of running into the cloud and towards the bastion, she casts a haste spell on herself and as many of the others as she can and then tries to move behind a tree or something, keeping the others between her and the brute.

I assume that since we can see the reaver, it can see us unless we do the stealth thing. Trying to capture an orc right now would probably just get us attacked by the reaver. Don't know if the smoke thing will do the trick or not, but I'm sure we can overwhelm the three remaining orcs back at the camp. "Following them back makes more sense. I'd rather not draw the reaver's attention right now. Besides, I'm thinking it has a radius for a reason and that if it wanders too far from it's lair it grows weaker and more vulnerable."
