Smuz hesitates, trying to understand what Poog and Reta are saying and not having much luck. But noticing that neither of them are moving anywhere, he stays put too.

Smuz yelps in pain and fear from the dog's vicious attack. He stabs blindingly quickly with his knitting needle, then hastily steps aside, nearly stumbling over the chair beside him.
Smuz ponders only briefly over Reta's words. Their meaning is clear. He approaches the door. On reaching it, he takes his trusty knitting needle in one hand and with the other, reaches out and opens the door.
At the sound of the barking, Smuz stops running in circles and snarls. He moves to stand beside Reta.
Still on a hasted high, Smuz begins running in circles, laughing and calling out, "Smuz goblin! Smuz goblin!"
Laughing gleefully at how much better he feels, Smuz rushes forward, using his enhanced speed to swing round in front of the fleeing woman. Then he stabs at her.
Smuz pulls out his toad, licks it, and feels quite a bit better.
Smuz recoils from the ferocity of the latest punch on him. Blood trickles down his chin. With a yell of rage, he presses his attack.
Realizing he needs a little extra boost to keep from passing out, Smuz then takes a step back.
Smuz snarls angrily as he definitely feels the latest punch laid on him. With a yell of, "SMUZ GOBLIN!" he continues his relentless attack.
Alas, his anger at the damage he's taken distracts him and makes his attacks much less effective.
Smuz shrugs off the minor blow from the short longshanks, barely even feeling it. He continues to stab rapidly.
Smuz yelps in pain from the attack. Then, with a snarl, he stabs back at his attacker. And then does it again!
He laughs gleefully and steps to the side to get out of the reach of the female longshanks.
Smuz's eyes gleam and he laughs gleefully at his new-found energy. At speeds uncharacteristic for Smuz, he bounds around the table and to the other side of the male short longshanks to cut off his escape. "Smuz fast goblin!" he proclaims and moves to stab with his knitting needle, realizing at the last moment that he doesn't have it out yet. He quickly draws it.
Smuz's eyes gleam and his lips part into a wide smile. He reaches out with a hand and tears into the cake, bringing back a large piece to stuff into his face.
Smuz hurries forward as fast as his slow legs will carry him, his eyes still hungrily on the cake that is almost in his reach.
With the tall longshanks out of the way, Smuz makes his way to the object of his desire, not even caring about the final flash alchemist's fire makes as it burns out. "Smuz goblin eat!" he cries longingly at the cake.
Still grumbling at his terrible luck, Smuz fumbles for his vial of alchemist fire, then lobs it at the longshanks.
Smuz cheers as the vial shatters and flames engulf the longshanks. "Smuz goblin!"
Grumbling, Smuz fumbles for his javelin, steps to the side for a better line of sight, and then tosses it at the longshanks.
Smuz grins at the longshanks. "Smuz goblin!" he proclaims. "Eat!" He grabs his tanglefoot bag, steps beside Reta to get a clearer throw, and lobs it at the longshanks.
He frowns as the bag lands well in front of its target and bursts open uselessly. "Smuz goblin," he grumbles.
Smuz follows Reta. However, he keeps looking over at the cake, and the distraction causes him to stumble and bang into things a few times. He glances around embarrassedly, hoping no one noticed.
Smuz licks his lips at the sight of the cake. "Eat," he says simply.
Smuz points to Reta. "Goblin," he announces. Then he points to Chuffy. "Goblin," he says again. He repeats this with Poog. Then he points to himself and proudly says, "Goblin!" Finally, he points to Rempty. He doesn't say anything, but simply shakes his head.
Smuz snaps out of his lethargy, with no idea what Reta is saying. He watches her actions, however, and the actions of the others, and then retrieves his toad. "Smuz goblin!" he proclaims as he holds the toad up so everyone can see.
Smuz eagerly accepts the potion from Chuffy and gulps both doses down. "Smuz goblin dead!" he says triumphantly. He holds out his hands as Reta hands him the items, then stares for a few moments at them. Then he sits down on the ground and begins examining each item in turn. When he looks at the vial of acid, he takes the top off and sniffs at it. For a moment, it looks as though he's about to drink it, but then he sticks the cork back in. The mint candy, however, he does pop in his mouth and crunches happily down on it. Everything else, he puts in his pack.
Poog also helps up Smuz, along with Reta, "Smuz see other side? Zarongel send Smuz back?" Smuz's eyes open a crack as he's helped up. "Smuz back?" he croaks. "Smuz dead. Smuz back. Smuz dead back." His eyes drift closed again.
Smuz's eyes open partway, and a slow groan emits from his mouth. "Smuuuuzz gooooblin," he drones, then repeats one of Reta's words: "Deeeeaaad. Smuz...goblin...dead." His eyes close again.
Smuz looks startled as flame and smoke spill around him. "Smuz...go...blin..." he croaks through burnt lips. Then he topples over.
Smuz pauses ever so briefly at the longshanks' exploding bomb. "Fire!" he says, sounding somewhat impressed. Then he roars, steps forward and continues his attack. "Smuz goblin!"
Smuz yells in rage as the longshanks moves away from him, though he laughs as Reta swipes her spider hat. He then defiantly moves back up to the longshanks and continues his attack.
Smuz giggles at the longshanks' yelp of pain. He shifts his position slightly, trying to gradually get round the other side of her, and attacks.
Smuz rushes forward, yelling, "Smuz goblin Smuz goblin Smuz !!" He stabs maniacally with his needle at the spider-haired longshanks.
"L...l...lo...lonnnngshhhanks." Smuz tries the word. "Longshanks." He watches Reta's reaction, then tries to copy her stance, pointing his knitting needle at the longshanks. "Smuz goblin!" he declares as menacingly as he can.
Chuffy likes the watch chain... Smuz has already taken that, and he guards it jealously. "Smuz goblin," he says.
Smuz stares in awe at the rusty watch chain, pausing only briefly to wonder why it's called that (in Undercommon that is--he has no idea of the Goblin name). He decides it must be because it's a chain you watch, and so he stares at it some more. Then he pockets it, planning to watch it again later.
Smuz watches the grabbycats run off and frowns. With a sigh, he goes over to the nest and stabs his knitting needle into it, just in case there's another one hiding in there. Then he starts searching through it.
Smuz moves to get a better position opposite Poog, then yells as he stabs again at the grabbycat he went for last time.
Smuz stabs viciously at the nearest grabbycat, while still yelling, "Grabbycats grabbycats grabbycats!"
Smuz has been staring at Darkfear, waiting for something to happen, so he's taken by surprise at the sudden appearance of the small creatures. He yelps as he recognizes them. "Grabbycats grabbycats grabbycats grabbycats!" he cries as he hurries over to help Reta. He fumbles for his knitting needle.
Smuz gives thumbs-up to each of the others after they sing, all the while desperately trying to put together words that he doesn't really understand into a song of his own. When everyone else has gone, he steps forward timidly. "Uh..." he mutters, then starts to sing: "Smuz likes to sing!
He steps timidly back again.
Smuz smiles and gives Chuffy a thumbs-up for his song. "Chuffy goblin!" he exclaims. He stands back and waits for more of the others to go before he tries his own song.
"Kettlestoopidhead is dead! Kettlestoopidhead is dead!" Smuz joins Reta's chant. He goes over to Kettlehead's body and stabs it with his knitting needle just to be sure. "Kettlestoopidhead is dead!"
"Smuz goblin! Smuz yells as he repositions himself slightly and jabs at Kettlehead again with his knitting needle. "Smuz goblin Smuz goblin Smuz Goblin!"
Smuz grimaces and pulls out his trusty knitting needle. He stabs at Kettlehead.
Reacting very quickly, Smuz throws his javelin at Kettlehead.
Disappointed by his poor throw, Smuz moves for cover, blowing another raspberry at Kettlehead as he moves.
Smuz looks a bit confused by the javelin and grappling hook that Reta hands him, but after examining them a bit, he smiles. He packs the grappling hook and carries the javelin with him. He follows the others as they head out of the swamp. When Kettlehead appears, he sticks his tongue out and blows a raspberry. He then calls out, "Smuz goblin! You..." He searches for the word. "...NOT!"
Smuz steps forward. "Smuz! Smuz goblin!"
Smuz stands back and watches the others carefully, waiting to figure out what he's supposed to do. Once he's seen a couple of successes, he wades into the water, keeping an eye out for toads. When he catches sight of one, he smacks his hand across the surface of the water, making a small display of splashes to distract the toad, then reaches out to grab it.
Unfortunately the distraction wasn't enough and the toad hops away from his grasp. Finding another toad, he tries a similar tactic.
Once more, the toad slips away from his grasp. He frowns. Grumbling, he goes for another toad, slapping the water in a playful display once more to distract it.
This time, he gets his hands around the toad, which squirms furiously and almost gets away from him, but he's able to get a firm grip on its leg just in time.
Smuz kicks at Loptop, attempting to get his foot around the goblin's legs and trip him.
He almost trips himself in the process. He then takes off as fast as he can in the direction Reta is pointing, at first running ahead of the others. After a moment, he pauses, having realized he doesn't know where he's going. He waits for the others to catch up, then follows right behind Reta, who seems to know what she's doing. "Go! Go!" he cries.
Smuz points a finger at Loptop in imitation of Old Foofelah. "Cheating!" he cries. "Cheating!"
"Wake up!" Smuz repeats as he sits up. "Wake up, wake up, wake up." He rubs his ears and nose, both of which feel much better after a good night's sleep. He then stands up and gathers his meagre collection of belongings together. "Wake up burniburn," he croaks. "Burniburn wake up burniburniburni wake up. Smuz goblin!" He looks to the others as if expecting some response.
Smuz follows Reta. He continues to sing (well, it's more like croak, really), "Burnburnburniburniburn burniburniburn!"
