All the Lost Lands books are pieces of a bigger whole. the Lost Lands are HUGE, and not easily covered in one book (Greg is working on the Campaign Setting as we speak/type).

My suggestions for "needed books" would be Bard's Gate and Sword of Air. Those give the most information on the widest spread of area. Borderland Provinces, Sundered Kingdoms, and the Quests of Doom books go into more detail for their respective regions. Rappan Athuk is a mega-dungeon that ties in with Slumbering Tsar's history, so those are connected. Stoneheart Valley details the Tomb of Abysthor and surrounding areas, and ties into Bard's Gate.

It largely depends on what the PCs want to do in their explorations, and you should go to the website to read what areas to cover to determine whats going to work best for the group.

Thanks!

Skeeter

I'm interested to know how many, and what size, the maps are in the folios

There will be 200+ maps in the folio, GM map on one side, and player's map on the other (so 100+ individual sheets). They are 8 1/2 x 11; essentially, they are the same pages that will be in the new full color book, but loose-leaf in a folder (and the folder is printed with the cover of the new book, the Mausoleum piece we have been showing, so SUPERCOOL!)

IN ADDITION, we are (currently) offering the giant size maps, printed on 6 ft x 6ft polyester sheets (like a good suit). We are, at this time, offering maps of Level 1C - The Mouth of Doom, the Wilderness surrounding RA, and Level 15 - Against the Master. $200 each, or all 3 for $500.
More levels, or art, may be added later, who knows? (the Oracle knows)

I sure hope there are more then 2 of you!

There will be no watching from you, Skeeter. If you drop by, you're getting an NPC to run. Greg says he might drop by too, but only if his adoring fans let him leave the Banquet at some point. ;-)

I'll happily play on of the filth lol

There will probably be more then 15 people there. In Dallas, Bill runs about 20 to a table.

Skeeter Green here-

I won't go into too much detail, as that is the fertile ground of one Mr. Greg Vaughan. I will say, however, that The Blight and both Perilous Vistas books are in very different stages of "done". One book is in development, one book is done, and another book is "done", with final edits/checking and final layout being completed.

Its not my place to say what book is where, as I am not managing those titles. I will say that there is no overlap of responsibilities, and while we are all very busy, one book is not taking away from another.

And I fully understand not backing a Kickstarter while a previous Kickstarter is outstanding. That is a personal decision, and one we respect, just like not backing a Kickstarter at all; that is always our fans choice, and we very much appreciate when we earn your backing.

We have a fairly long history of Kickstarting projects. We have completed (almost) all of them, with The Blight outstanding. It WILL be completed. We are very dissapointed in ourselves for it having taken this long, but, we made the decision in-house that we were not going to produce a sub-par product to hit our date (or reduce the time it has taken). At this point, a poor product would be disastrous. A good product (I'm not going to be egotistical and say a great product; wait, have you met me??? this is GREAT!!!) means the time invested, while exceeding expectations, was worth it.

We respect our fans, and if a project goes long, we'll ask for your forgiveness, but we won't cut corners on our quality. We owe you that.

Good Luck in all your future endeavors lol

We're approaching the last 48 hours! Come take a look at ridiculously good prices on some wonderful content from Green Ronin, Kobold Press, and Frog God Games!

Hey, we're at almost the last 48 hours of the bundle. Our friends and Kobold Press and Green Ronin sure would love it if everyone came by and took a look at it!!!

Sorry for the delay guys. We are not currently selling the HL files, for anything, as we don't have the ability to support them, and their inherent technical issues. When we have someone, or some team together, we will be re-releasing the files.

But we're not going to sell a product we can't reasonably support. thats not cool to you all.

Skeeter

Steve-
Afaik, Bard's Gate will be to the printer before the Blight. I do not believe Greg has done the full development on it as of yet (he got pulled to help with BG). But I am shifting gears to help on Blight, if he can use my meager talents :-)

I do not know the turn time on either, but I believe BG is planned to get here before end of year. More info as I know it.

Just want to let everyone know: all 3 versions of the product (Pathfinder, 5E, and S&W) are all in layout as of today. Well on our way!

Arnwyn-

Thank you. It may get lost in the shuffle, but things like that make a huge difference to 3pp. We live or die by our fans, and like it or not, most 3pp are small enough 1 or 2 "less than great" products spell our doom.

When fans go against their own norm to support us, it shows we're reaching Our People. Thanks!

None of those additions are "official" S&W information. They came from us, but thy do not incorporate into "official" S&W Complete rules. Matt Finch has been very clear about that from the beginning.

Yes, sorry should have put Tom and the crew. Can't be many great RPG books that are a one man job! I have enjoyed reading it though I don't play Pathdfinder, as much as I love reading RPG crunch I just don't play it - but the "fluff" is inspiring and easy to drag into my 5E game
I don't think there are too many one man projects these days. The toughest part about that is constantly switching gears. That's why I now do the adventures first, while I'm in that mode and then switch to the monsters, fluff and then crunchy parts.

However you do it, KEEP DOING IT THAT WAY! lol

Having somebody on staff who has helped run successful Kickstarters before is also a good bit of advice, as we did in bringing Rachel Ventura on board, who had managed several KS with Frog God Games before coming to work for us.

This. Bookmark this. Getting someone with experience should be Job One. Rachel certainly knows a lot about Kickstarters. Not to be forward, but she would be a resource for people to consider.

I don't have the numbers with me, but I set out a business plan to produce a 32 page adventure a la Paizo's old modules.

I worked on twenty cents a word split between designer and developer in some proportion and around $1500 (I think) for editor. Then a layout person, art director and about $3000-$4000 for art/cartography.

20 cents a word split is WAY too much. Like WOW you could never recoup your money paying rates like that. A 32 page adventure in 20K words. Six cents a word for designer and developer and 3 cents a word for an editor is realistic. $1,500 for art and layout is the "high end" for a 1st time 3PP.

And just to add to this, some companies I know of come closer to 900 to 1k words per page, so this word count for 32 pages would reach towards just less than 30K, thus reducing the profitability even more. Depends on a lot of variables, but...

SG

PS that's why some companies, I wont name names (lol) release 3-500 page books...it can be more profitable than 32 page adventures.

I am not taking what you said as a negative, I did take it as a compliment. (That is the main problem with the internet. There is no inflection in what you write, so thing comes out sounding very different then intended.)

Apologies on my misinterpretation.

You guys work for 8 cents a word? :(

I find that disappointing.

Steve-

For a lot of companies, that is an exceptional rate, and I'm flat-out impressed by it. Many, many companies pay around 2-5 cents, from what I remember.

When I offer freelance jobs to several of the individuals mentioned in this thread at 8 cents a word, I will call it a good business strategy of only hiring the best people that people want to buy.

And if you think LPJ Design is all sizzle, check out End's review of Obsidian Apocalypse. That's ALL STEAK!! Prime grade A!!!

I have met SKR more then a few times (I think Ive introduced myself something like a half-dozen times, lol) and at GenCon 2013, I actually yelled out to him as he was walking in front of the Frog God Games booth. His response? He came in, talked to me a for a bit just shooting the $hit, and generated maybe a couple hundred $ in sales for us, just by being there talking to me.

Sean is a great cat; a HUGE resource for miniatures, both in painting and terrain, and one of the measuring sticks for all game developers. You don't have to agree with his philosophy 100%, but anything he says is worth consideration. And spending $50 to have him personalize his critique of your work? A BARGAIN. If you can't take criticism, you're in the wrong hobby.

Fantastic opportunity, for anyone.

Pathfinder Rules Conversion, Frog God Games

As far as the "Powered by HeroLab", that's a standard mark that goes on all the books, for a reason. the files may be released at a later date, when the general Lost Lands pack gets complete, but not in the short timeframe.

Also, it's being looked at if HeroLab files are going to be continued at all. Lot of work for not a lot of sales. As with everything, the vocal minority wants the files, but the larger consumer base doesn't support it. Time will tell.

Pathfinder Rules Conversion, Frog God Games

There is no Vol 2 currently. Of either book.

Pathfinder Rules Conversion, Frog God Games

I have always assumed they can be recovered, and honestly, I have never had a mu character carry more then 3-5 at any one time. Of course, for extended dungeon delving, that might change, but on hand, I wouldn't expect to have more then a half-dozen at best.

No worries, question away! A lot of this stuff gets written with Bill's house rules, were every weapon except darts does a d6 for damage, so some of the descriptions may have gone astray. I did try and place everything according to the S&W Complete rulebook, so mistakes should be minimal.

Sleep is the hands down favorite magic-user spell in S&W, for very good reasons....wait til they get phantasmal force, and understand how to use it very, very effectively!

SG

Pathfinder Rules Conversion, Frog God Games

Sorry guys. Shortbows. Since they all do the same amount of damage in S&W, I guess I missed it.

anyone who doesn't see the file, please submit a ticket on the website, so Viking can see if it got loaded. But PLEASE verify its not just hiding in a zip file, no reason to have Chris do work if you just missed it.

And THANK YOU for your patience on these files. We've undergone a LOT of changes recently, and they haven't all gone smoothly. We hope the product has been worth the weight!

No matter if you like pirate adventures or not, this particular product deserves a lot of praise. It takes roleplaying in a different direction, uses a style not yet adopted by many others (a pretty novel approach, too) and is really a template for future modules. I can see the style picked up by other authors in the future. it opens up other avenues for adventure than the norm.

Voting for this is helping to push the envelope. Without products that push the boundaries into the unknown, we wouldn't have some of the gems we have today. I would have voted for this even if I wasn't part of the company.

It's innovative.
